Chapter 21. The Twinkle Star premiere
"Damn it!" Kazuki cried, clasping his head and messing up his hair. He sat on his bed hugging his knees. He looked really gloomy.
"So what are going to do?" asked Haruki, stepping inside the room. "Are you gonna give in after all?"
"I don't know…" mumbled the little brother. "It's just whenever I try to get closer to her there's always Tsukimori-kun between us… Even when I almost confessed to her… And more awful is the fact that despite all my efforts she doesn't look at me this way at all!"
"So that's why you haven't told her about the premiere of the movie yet? It's tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah… I'm just afraid that she doesn't want to go… or she will go just because of the promise she made." Kazuki sighed.
"I've never thought my brother was that fool!" said Haruki. "No matter what she says, you must tell her! Cause you worked hard for so long to play this role and show her! And what now?"
"You really think I should invite her?" Kazuki raised his head and smiled slightly.
"Sure!"
"Haruki's right. I must tell her. After all, spring has come… maybe something good is gonna happen this spring!"
"Thank you, Haruki!" Kazuki smiled widely to his brother.

Much to Kazuki's pleasure, Kahoko was very excited to be invited to the Twinkle Star premiere. During the break he went to her class and called her.
"Thank you so much for the invitation, Hihara-senpai! Of course I'll come to watch your movie!" she looked really happy. "At last I'll be able to see you on the big screen!"
"Ah.. un," Kazuki said being embarrassed.
"Mio and Nao would like to go too, but all the tickets are already sold," sadly said Kahoko.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get tickets for all of you… Cause all the actors are invited too, they all have someone they want to invite so…" apologized the green haired boy.
"Oh, it's ok, Hihara-senpai! You know I'm so happy you invited me!" she said brightly. "I was waiting for it."
"Eh? Really?" Kazuki was surprised a lot.
"Yes, did you forget my promise that I'll attend the premiere with you?"
"No, I didn't forget it… I thought you forgot about it…"
"Uwa… Hihara-senpai, how could you think about me that way?" Kahoko laughed.
"Ahaha, sorry, Kaho-chan and thank you!" Kazuki laughed too.
"You're so lucky, Kaho-chan!" cried Mio as Kahoko returned to the class and told about the ticket. "You'll see Kei-kun!"
"Still haven't gotten that arrogant boy out of your head?" asked Nao.
"No way I'll ever do that!" replied Mio and sighed. "I wish I were you, Kaho-chan, for one evening! Promise me you'll talk to Kei-kun and then tell me about it."
"Y-yes, Mio, I'll do my best," said Kahoko, smiling nervously.
"You look so happy, Hihara. Did something happen to you?" asked Yunoki as his friend came back to his desk.
"Eh? Ah, yeah, you know tomorrow Kaho-chan is gonna attend the premiere with me!" brightly answered Kazuki.
"He~ I see. That's really good, Hihara," said Yunoki with a strange tone in his voice, but Kazuki didn't notice it of course.

The next day Kazuki woke up lately cause yesterday he couldn't force himself to sleep. He was so excited about the upcoming event!
"Kazuki! Wake up!" his brother Haruki cried loudly at him. "Wake up already or you'll be late!"
"Late? !" cried Kazuki, opening his eyes at once and jumping from his bed. "Oh, it's already one o'clock! I have three hours till the beginning!" and he rushed to the bathroom.
"Do I really have to put it today? May I put something more comfortable?" asked Kazuki, showing a begging look at his face, as his mother gave him a black tuxedo with white shirt and a black bow.
"No jeans for today, Kazuki! What if you'll be invited to the party after the movie? I heard there's always something like that after the premiere. And you don't want to look like a street boy in your jeans, do you?" his mother said.
"Speaking of which, Watabe-san said something like all the actors were invited to the party after the premiere! I totally forgot about it!" realized the boy.
"Also I heard you invited Kaho-chan as well, didn't you? I'm sure she will like your tuxedo!" she winked at her son and it made him blush like a rose.
"Mum!" he cried and shoot a glance at Haruki. "That supposed to be a secret!" meant his look but his big brother just winningly grinned.
At the same time Kahoko was preparing for the event as well. This time she didn't have problems with the choice of the outfit as she bought a new pink dress a few days earlier and decided to put it on. Her sister insisted on her to have a make-up today so since Kahoko wasn't familiar with it, her sister was helping her.
"You know, Kahoko, you should look perfect on you date. Especially if it's not an ordinary date," her sister said, applying eye shadow on Kahoko's eyes.
"But it's not a date, I told you already!" replied Kahoko, blushing.
"Really? But it sounds like a date to me. I mean Hihara-kun invited only you, so it means there will be only you two, right?"
"Yes, but…"
"So it's a date," said her sister, finishing the make-up. "Ta-da-n, look at yourself now, Kahoko!"
When Kahoko saw herself in the mirror she was surprised at how nice she looked now with the make-up.
"Now I see that you're ready for the date, Kahoko!" smiled her sister.
"Thank you!" Kahoko has already stopped denying it wasn't a date. Also she in fact wasn't sure it wasn't a date.
Kazuki was waiting for her at the entrance of the cinema. For some reason he had a feeling that today was a special day, that something's gonna happen today. And then he saw Kahoko – she was so beautiful in her pink dress that he forgot to say 'hi' by the time she came to him and just stared at her with admiration.
"Hihara-senpai?" Kahoko called being embarrassed.
"Ah, sorry, Kaho-chan! I mean… I…" Kazuki's face flushed as he started apologizing. "You're so beautiful!" he said at last.
"Thank you, you too… look so nice!" Kahoko said blushing. Kazuki looked really adorable in his black tuxedo.
They went into the cinema and sat at their seats. Kahoko saw Miura and Eri not far away from them in the first row. As if Eri felt her look, the blond actress turned back and smiled at Kahoko. Miura turned his head as well and winked at the red haired girl. Kahoko waved her hand in greeting to both of them.
"I wonder if they're getting alone with each other?" she thought.
"You know, Kaho-chan, the leading actors have to sit in the first row and as I'm not starring I could choose these seats. Is it ok?" Kazuki asked.
"Sure, I like it!"
"I'm so glad!"
"Wow, isn't it Hino-san?" suddenly they heard a voice above. It was orange headed trumpeter Toda. "Hi, Hino-san!"
"Hello, Toda-san!" greeted Kahoko.
"So Hihara invited you?"
"Y-yes," replied Kahoko shyly.
"Ho~ you don't waste your time, yeah, Hihara?" laughed Toda.
"Toda!" Kazuki blushed. "Why are you here? Shouldn't you be with the others?"
"Well, I'm not starring as you know, also I don't like it there," Toda sat beside Kazuki. "May I sit here?"
"O-of course!" replied Kahoko. Kazuki just sighed.
Eri once again turned her head back and looked at them. Then the movie began. The plot was very interesting so that Kahoko watched it intensively. And when there was Kazuki on the screen playing the trumpet, she almost cried and seized Kazuki's hand. The green haired boy looked at her in disbelief. Looks like she did it automatically as she noticed she was holding his hand a few minutes later.
"Sorry!" she cried, letting go of his hand and turning red in her face.
"It's ok, Kaho-chan," smiled Kazuki. "I wish she hold my hand till the end though…"
"Hihara-senpai, you were so cool and awesome!" said Kahoko with admiration in her voice when the movie was over.
"Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the movie!" answered happy Kazuki. They two stood among the cinema hall and people around were leaving their seats, but for Kazuki it was just two of them in the whole world. "You know I dreamed about you and me watching it together…" he stopped wondering if he said too much.
"Ah…"
"I mean, you told me that day in the café that you wanted to watch me on TV again… that was the reason I agreed to play in this movie…"
"Ah, yes! I remember! S-so you did it just be-" started Kahoko, opening her eyes wide in realization.
"Kazuki-senpai!" suddenly called Eri and running to them. "Are you going to the party?"
"Oh, Eri-chan…" Kazuki turned to the blond girl. "Yes, aren't all the actors invited?"
"Yes, I just wanted to know for sure," replied Eri.
"A party?" asked Kahoko.
"Un, Kaho-chan, actually I wanted to go there with you," said Kazuki.
"Eh? But I'm not an actor…"
"It's ok, I've already asked about it our Director!" said Kazuki. "Isn't it, Eri-chan?"
"Ah… yes, I heard we could invite close friends or family as well…" answered Eri.
"See, Kaho-chan? Let's go together!" Kazuki begged.
"Well… if that is really ok…" Kahoko nodded in agreement.
"Yay! Thank you, Kaho-chan!" Kazuki happily smiled. Eri bitted her lip angrily.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" asked Toda, always appearing from nowhere. "Let's go to the party!"
The party held in a big gorgeous restaurant where many famous actors, musicians and other stars were invited as well. Kahoko had never been at such an excellent party not to say with famous guests so she felt a little confused.
"Kaho-chan, are you ok?" asked Kazuki with concern in his voice. "Would you like some juice or something?"
"Ah… yes, it's just I'm not used to be around these people… They all are famous stars, I still can't believe I'm here!" said Kahoko.
"Ahaha, me too. I never got used to that kind of stuff!" laughed Kazuki.
"Kazuki-kun, who is this beautiful girl?" asked director Watabe, approaching them.
"It's Kahoko Hino," said Kazuki. "Kaho-chan, this is our director Watabe-san."
"Nice to meet you!" Kahoko bowed.
"Nice to meet you too," director Watabe smiled. "Kazuki-kun, you never told you had such a pretty girlfriend. You two look so nice together!"
Before the two teenagers could react they heard a familiar voice behind.
"They are not dating, aren't they?" looking back they knew it was Yunoki. He was in a white elegant tuxedo.
"Isn't it, Hino-san?" asked the purple haired boy with his usual mysterious smile.
"Yunoki? ?" Kazuki was so surprise to see his friend here, Kahoko looked shocked as well. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, Yunoki-kun, I'm glad you came today," said Watabe. "So you all know each other?"
"Yes, we're friends and we attend the same school," replied Yunoki. "Sorry, Hihara, I didn't tell you, my family was one of the sponsors of the movie, so I came today instead of my father. He has a lot of work today so he couldn't come," explained Yunoki.
"I see…" said Kazuki being shocked. His best friend never told him a single word about it!
"I'm glad to see you here, Hino-san," continued Yunoki, "Though I'm not surprised to see you."
"Eh?" Kahoko didn't get his words.
"Well, I'll go now. Please, take your time and enjoy the party," said Watabe and went away to the other guests.
"Yunoki-senpai!" called Eri coming to them. Her voice was strangely joyful. "How nice to see you! Did Kazuki-senpai invite you as well?"
"No, some family business," shortly explained the boy. At that moment a waltz melody began singing and Yunoki asked Kahoko to dance with him. The girl started refusing but the purple haired boy insisted so she couldn't refuse. Kazuki didn't have time to interrupt his friend.
"Aren't they look nice, Kazuki-senpai?" asked Eri as the two actors were alone.
"Eh? Are they?" replied Kazuki looking at the dancing pair too. "Why is Yunoki doing that?"
In the other corner of the big hall Miura was looking at Eri and Kazuki. He was sitting at the table with his friend Toda, drinking wine.
"Today is the last day, Miura," said Toda to the blue haired violinist. He pretended being serious but his voice was too joyful. "Who knows maybe you two won't see each other ever again."
"Shut up, Toda," cut the musician and drank one more glass of red wine.
"Maybe Hashimoto-san will confess to him tonight," added Toda grinning.
"What? !"
"Look at them. They look so lovely!" Toda laughed.
Eri stood next to Kazuki, talking to him and smiling. But neither Toda nor Miura could know that Kazuki didn't listen to her words at all. The green haired boy watched at the dancing ones, how his best friend Yunoki bent down to Kahoko's face and whispered something in her ear. The girl blushed and turned her eyes away. That scene was too much for Kazuki. He turned around not to look at them and walked away, paying no attention to Eri.
"Would you like some drink?" a passing by waiter with a tray asked Kazuki.
"Yes, please," without looking Kazuki took a glass of wine and drank it at once.
When the waltz was over Kahoko searched for Kazuki but he wasn't anywhere.
"He will be back soon, don't worry," said Yunoki.
"I wonder where he went though…" Kahoko somehow was concerned.
Miura and Toda came to Kahoko and then they talked about the movie. Yunoki went to Eri that time.
"By the way, Kahoko," said Miura when he and Kahoko were alone. "Give me your cellphone number."
"Eh? Why are you asking it, Miura-san?" asked the girl.
"Actually I want you do me a favor," replied the beautiful boy. "But not today, that's why I need it."
"B-but…"
"Oh, c'mon!" Miura said impatiently. "Or I'll kiss you right now!"
"Eh? !" cried Kahoko in horror, stepping back. "No, you shouldn't!" sighing she added, "Ok, I'll give you my number."
"Good girl," smiled Miura. "Hey, also where's Hihara? Shouldn't he be with you?"
"I've searched for him but couldn't find anywhere…. I guess I'll look for him once again."
"Good luck, Kahoko!" said Miura.
Kahoko asked some people if they saw Kazuki and one of his comrades told he went to the balcony.
When she stepped there it was already dark outside and the Moon was high in the night sky. She could see Kazuki's figure, leaning his elbow on the balcony railing.
"Hihara-senpai! I've been searching for you everywhere," Kahoko approached the green haired trumpeter. "What are you doing here?"
"Ah…Kaho-chan, it's you? I just wanted to get some fresh air…" Kazuki turned to the girl, but stumbled and would almost fell down if Kahoko didn't catch him at the last moment.
"Are you ok, Hihara-senpai?" asked Kahoko, helping him stand up.
"Ah… sorry… my head is just spinning for some reason…" Kazuki tried to stand up but failed again as he felt so dizzy. He rested down his head on Kahoko's shoulder. Her vanilla scented perfume overwhelmed him. "Kaho-chan…"
"Are you feeling sick?" asked Kahoko in concern. Being worried about Kazuki she didn't pay attention at the closeness between the two of them. "Could it be he drank alcohol?" she thought."Maybe you should rest?" she asked again but just then she felt how two strong arms reached around her and held her tightly. And then hot lips captured her own in a passionate kiss…
