Chapter 21: Deceitful

APOV

Rose had a weird look on her face when she called the number that Bella has been calling. For the last year or so she has been making these anonymous calls, and we never asked who it was because we were 'giving her, her space'. At the time we just thought it was James, her on again off again boyfriend. He was a total douche and we both hated the guy, but Bella needed a distraction.

Rose hung up, and huffed. "What? What happened?" I asked.

'I don't know, some little girl answered. Its probably one of the kids at the hospital Bella gets calls from. She hung up, probably thought she had the wrong number and was talking to a stranger." I sighed. So far we have yet to hear from Jenkins, I think he is stalling to give us any information that he has so far found. Or worse; he's found nothing.

"God this is hopeless." Rose said as she put Bella's phone back on her charger.

I sighed and got to start going through Bella's luggage. That was the "reason" we were here anyway. Rose just sulked in the corner until she finally got up to look through her shoes to see what would go best with what I was picking out. Not more than two minutes later, Bella came in. And the guilt swelled through me all over again. She was in her wheelchair with the wrap around her had. I wanted to tell her everything. That we were snooping, that we just wanted to know the truth. We all told each other everything, or so Rose and me thought.

Bella smiled, and laughed, "Couldn't wait until I got out the bathroom huh?"

I giggled, nervous cause I don't know how to act around her now, "Well you were taking to long. So we had to get a jump start."

"How are your dizzy spells going?" Rose asked. She was so good at being nonchalant about this whole thing it kind of scared the crap out of me. Must have been all the practice of lying to Bella the past two years as well.

"They aren't as often! Which is good, it only happens once or twice a day now. Emmett is taking me to the doctor after he comes back from school tomorrow so that I can get the for sure okay that I can do this whole school thing the next day." She rolled her eyes at 'the whole school thing'. Rose and I rolled our eyes. Bella didn't like the fact that we were back in high school again. She called it, the hell hole. But Rose and I were really enjoying it! It was much more than I imagined it to be; it was better.

"Come on Bells, it wont be that bad." I said, not making eye contact with her, "Tell her Rose! It's awesome so far."

Rose nodded with me, "Yeah! Bella it's so much different than it was when we left. People are much more mature now, well." She snorted, "Except for Tanya and her bimbos."

Bella groaned, "Oh god I forgot about that bitch." She hung her head to the side and pretended to shoot herself in the head. We laughed, "God she is better not make my life hell, because I have much more witty comebacks now."

I laughed, "Don't worry, she won't bother you. She is scared to hurt her reputation for being mean to the members of RBA."

It got a little quiet after that. Bella's eyes glazed over a little. I felt really bad after that. I know how much this tour meant to Bella. And the fact that we weren't there right now, killed her I could see it. I looked at Rose who actually had a sympathetic look on her face as she looked at Bella. We both knew the amount of work Bella had put into it. She planned every detail herself; it was her baby.

"Hey! No said faces." Rose said, kneeling in front of Bella. "Everything happens for a reason and we are getting our second chance here." Bella smiled at Rose, nodding, but didn't say anything.

I continued going through her closet feeling worse with every moment passing.

EMPOV

They are up to something.

I can feel it. Rose hasn't talked to me for the last two days, and every time Alice looks at me she runs in the other direction. Guilt was written all over her face. I made a last minute decision in calling Jenkins. I just had a feeling they called him I don't know why.

"Jenkins investigation, Claudia speaking." I smiled I hadn't seen Claudia in a while. That was Jenkins wife. She was a sweetheart.

"Hey Aunt Claudia! Its Emmett Swan." I still called her Aunt Claudia I could never say her first name to her, it didn't feel right at all even though when we were kids she always told us to not worry about it, dad always said to never do it.

"Oh! Emmy! How are you doing sweetheart? How is Bella? Jenks told me about her accident! I tried calling Bells at the hospital but she never answered, I am sure she is going through so much with having to cancel her tour the poor dear! She couldn't stop talking about it when we were last on the phone she was so excited! How is your Uncle and Aunt Esme and Helen?" She laughed, "Are they still going to the reunion?"

I laughed, she always had a hundred questions on the phone even if you just called a day or so ago. " I am doing good, now that Bella is here. Bella is a lot better, less of the dizzy spells from the accident. I will tell her to call you once she wakes up from her nap." I sighed, I knew she was disappointed about the tour still, "She is doing better with the whole tour thing, I think she is a little sulky about it. And my aunts and uncle are still going to the reunion yes. But hey, Aunt Claud? Would you mind if I talked to Uncle Jenks for a bit? I got some questions I need to ask him."

:Oh of course sweetie! Is everything all right? You aren't in trouble are you? We will do everything we can to help if you need it sweet pea." She sounded so concerned and I didn't want to worry her like this.

"Oh no, no nothing like that aunt Claud, I just got a few things on my mind." She agreed after ten more questions then paged me through to uncle Jenks.

"This is Jay Jenkins?" He didn't seem to know it was me.

"Hey Uncle Jay, it's Emmett." I said casually.

"Oh, uh, Emmett! How are you doing son? How is Bells?" He sounded antsy, which gave me my answer.

"Not so good right now Uncle Jay. I have a suspicion and I think you know what it is." When he didn't say anything, I knew he didn't want to break the confidentiality code of his contract so I went out and said it, "Are Alice and Rose trying to dig up dirt on Bella?"

He sighed a heavy sigh, "God kid I am glad you said it out loud I was about to burst and tell you. Yes they are. They didn't really say what information they wanted they just said information. I don't know what to do, I have been stalling like crazy kid. I think I am gonna have to tell them I cant do nothing. I cant do this to Bella." He seemed to be arguing with himself.

I shook my head, "No Uncle Jenks. Don't do that, I just wanted to confirm it. Give them information but don't give them anything incriminating. Give them like, who she has dated, basically anything the papz are talking bout or were talking about."

"I can do that. And if they ask, I will tell them everything else that I tried to access was looked and sealed. Impossible to get." I smiled he was getting it. "Son, are you going to talk to Bella bout this? I feel like I should tell her what's going on, but I can't break that confidentiality code, even though I have done this with you."

I thought about it for a minute. "No Uncle Jenks, I will tell her. She knows you can't break those codes. She will understand that business is business. She is gonna be pissed, but she won't tell Alice or Rose."

We talked to a little while after that, discussing what he should say to Rose and Ali in a few days.

They want to play hardball? Well let the games begin ladies.

A/N: So what do you guys think? I know it has been a long, long time since I have posted and for that I am sorry! This seems to be a re-occuring habit that just won't shake. But I promise that I am going to try harder to update now that winter break is coming up! I hope you all liked this chapter! Please give me feedback of what you want/or think with happen next! I always like to see what you guys think and I love seeing if you guys hit it right on the nail to what is going to happen next.
