Chapter 21: Kagami the oblivious angel.

Warning: Mentions past abuse.

Kuroko chuckled watching Momoi braiding Kagami's hair for entertainment. He had fallen asleep on the couch during his visit. His was toppled over and sprawled out in their laps. They felt no need to wake him and simply let him rest. He hadn't been getting much sleep lately they could tell if from the circles under his eyes. The adored the angel they have known for two months since he moved next door. Aomine adored him the most and loved teasing the red head. He smiled amused when Aomine walked in then paused seeing the redhead. Aomine stole him from them without waking him and carried him to his bedroom for the angel to get his much-needed rest. After he went and took a long bath. Everyone started getting home by the time he was done and they all agreed to order pizza for dinner.

Kagami woke with a start. He stared blankly at the wall in front of him with his heart thundering wildly. His dream was so vivid he felt like he was back in that place. The place he had run away from. It finally registered he wasn't on the couch with Momoi and Kuroko anymore. He peered around the room confused and a familiar scent hit his nostrils suddenly. He sniffed the pillow to be sure and groaned embarrassed. This was Aomine's room and the idiot had clearly carried him there. He was even tucked in and a glass of water was on the nightstand by the bed. At some point when the pair were casually talking about their weird sleeping patterns due to their jobs Kagami had mentioned he always got a dry throat and he always needed water to sooth it first thing when he woke. It was embarrassing being fussed over like that.

'But do you really hate it that much? You like his spoiling,' a tiny voice whispered in his head.

'NO! I DON'T,' he hissed back blushing as he gulped down the water.

When he walked to the living room everyone was watching tv and eating pizza. They smiled happily seeing their angel was awake.

"Eat some dinner with us Tai-chan," Momoi cheered.

"Actually, I have a shift to get too. But thank you," he hummed seeing the time on the clock on the wall.

"Bring some with you then," Kuroko insisted. "We bought extra just for you and your bottomless stomach."

"It isn't bottomless," he pouted.

"It is. You could eat a whole cow and be hungry," Kise teased. "Yet you don't gain weight! You're so lucky!"

"Seriously it's a wonder on how you stay so thin and muscular," Momoi smiled. "You were blessed with wonderful genes Tai-chan, gorgeous, thin, smart, adorable, and strong. But you're an angel so of course you would have those genes!"

Kagami's face heated up wildly making them grin at his adorable blushing. Yet he looked so shocked and confused at her words. That made them wonder how the hell he never noticed these things about himself.

"Don't look so shocked it's true," Aomine scolded.

"No one's ever said that to me other than my dad and siblings. But I don't think it's true if it was, he wouldn't have…." he hummed then cut himself off. "I can't talk I really need to go. I'll see everyone later," he dismissed tossing goodbyes as he shoved his shoes on. "I'll cook for you tomorrow as thanks," he smiled adorably before leaving.

"Uh oh," Kise hummed.

"Who is this he? Who hurt my oblivious angel," Aomine seethed threateningly.

"Calm down we'll teach him to treasure himself more and not listen to any insults," Midorima dismissed.

Kagami was almost done with his shift when they got the call. A house was on fire and they were needed immediately. He loaded himself into the truck with his coworkers and they zoomed off sirens blasting to make people get out of the way. He was the first in the house and found two scared kids trying to find their way house. He rushed to them and picked them up. He carried them for the door cooing at them to sooth them as he put masks over their faces to keep them from breathing more smoke. A beam suddenly crashed and blocked the door.

"Mr. Fireman," one blubbered scared.

He set him down and smiled warmly at him and ruffled his hair as he set the brother down.

"Don't worry. We'll get out we just need to make our own way," he soothed.

He went to the window and sent his foot flying into it making it shatter in hundreds of pieces.

"WHAT THE SHIT KAGAMI," a coworker echoed.

"THE DOOR IS BLOCKED! DON'T WHAT THE SHIT ME," he roared wrapping his coat around the children and carrying them back to the window before handing them over. "I'll check for the parents no one needs to come in its collapsing," he informed putting his jacket back on.

"But Kagami…."

"No! It's too dangerous! I'm already in here so I'll do it. I'll be fine," he scolded then ran off deeper into the house calling out for the parents.

When he found them, they were barely conscious. He threw each over a shoulder and barrel back for the window. He handed the wife over first as police and firemen came to help get them out of the window safely. He then handed over the husband and threw his arms up to block the walling flying at his head. Kagami felt like he was flying. Everything was blurring and suddenly he was balanced carefully in a pair of arms. His eyes widened and blinked up owlishly at the male. Then a blush burned hotter than any fire he had ever been in on his face.

"AHO! DON'T CARRY ME LIKE A PRINCESS! PUT ME DOWN! I CAN WALK! AOMINE! STUPID! IDIOT! YOU'RE SO EMBARRASSING," he roared hitting his shoulders fitfully while kicking his legs and wiggling trying to get free.

"SHUT UP," Aomine sneered livid making him freeze in his arms shocked.

Aomine never got mad him. Sure, he had seen him get mad at the others but never at him. The mere thought of Aomine being angry at him made him feel like curling up and crying. When had he become so sensitive when it came to Aomine? Kagami's mask, tank, and helmet was taken off. He buried his face into Aomine's shoulder lips trembling. Aomine set him in the back of an empty ambulance to be looked at. He was given the all clear and Aomine swept him up once again making him fumble his protests.

"You're going home," he said simply.

"I'm not! Everyone is still working hard why would I…"

"You're going home," Aomine sneered making him shut up.

His coworkers were giving him shit eating grins as he was carried off to a police car. He gave them the finger and pouted as he was strapped into the passenger seat. Aomine drove him home quietly his face never turning gentle or playful like he was used to. Kagami gripped his sleeves in his hands as they trembled.

"I don't understand," he let out pitifully. "Why are you mad at me?"

"You're too careless, you don't know how to accept help, and you value your life to little. That's why I'm mad at you," Aomine growled after a brief silence.

"I'm not careless I just didn't want anyone hurt! That's not a bad thing," he protested as they stopped at a red light.

"IT IS WHEN YOU CONSIDER YOUR LIFE TO BE LESS THAN THEIRS! I KNOW HOW YOU THINK AND IT'S FUCKING INFURIATING! YOU'RE NOT BELOW ANYONE DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?! YOU'RE NOT WORTHLESS OR REPLACABLE," Aomine roared. "EVERYONE WOULD BE SO SAD WITHOUT YOU! YOU STUPID, DUMB ASS, OBLIVIOUS ANGEL DO YOU NOT FUCKING REALIZE WE ALL LOVE YOU?! WE CAN'T LOSE YOU! SO, STOP BEING SO DAMN SELF SACRIFICING ALL THE TIME," he roared slamming his palm into the dash several times in anger making him cower slightly.

Aomine didn't realize it until a pitiful scared sob left the redheads mouth. He was trembling and crying softly pressed against the door. He softened his body language immediately. He hadn't meant to make Kagami cry or get scared, he was just so worried about him. Seeing him nearly get crushed in rubble made his nerves bad. Aomine sighed reaching over and petting his head.

"I'm sorry. I'm just worried about you. I didn't mean to make you cry. Come on please stop crying. I can't stand it when you're sad," he murmured.

"I don't understand," he blubbered. "I don't understand all this. It's new for me. No one has ever treated me like you do other than papa, Alex, and Tatsuya. Not even the one who was supposed to be mine was this nice at the beginning. You shouldn't be nice to me," he sniveled.

"Taiga," he soothed pulling him into his arms. "You didn't deserve to be abused you stupid angel," he murmured kissing the top of his head.

"He and everyone else said I deserved it. Because I wasn't good enough, I'm a burden, and I'm stupid. He took me in when I needed it. I owed him everything. But…I ended up leaving him six months ago despite it all," he murmured. "He kept finding me so I moved here. To start a new life and do something good. So maybe one day I could become someone worth loving as well. Someone who didn't cause problems. But I just keep becoming a burden," he rambled.

"You're not a burden. You do so much for everyone. Don't ever think you're not good enough to be loved. You never had to do anything at all for us to love you. You're our Taiga I don't know how we got by before you showed up. You make us so happy. So please treasure yourself more and come home safe and sound every day," he said stroking his hair gently.

Kagami pulled back after several minutes and they stared into each other's eyes. They leaned in slowly until…

"YOU IDIOTS STOP BEING ALL LOVEY DOVEY AND MOVE! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE YOU GOT HERE! YOU'RE PILING UP TRAFFIC," an angry motorist roared making them scramble apart.

"FUCK YOU! WE WERE HAVING A MOMENT AND YOU RUINED IT," Aomine roared out his window. "STOP GIGGLING YOUR CUTE HEAD OFF," he exclaimed at Kagami.

"DRIVE THE CAR YOU AHO," Kagami cried doubling over with laughter.

"I'LL GO WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT," he roared then crossed his arms pouting

"You big dork. Here," Kagami rolled his eyes and kissed his cheek. "We'll start from there. I still need more time," he smiled.

"Alright," Aomine gave in then cupped his cheek. "You know I'll wait for as long as you need," he reassured and searched Kagami's face for uncertainty.

"I know," Kagami smiled brightly covering his hand with his own.

"GGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ARE YOU EVEN A REAL COP?! IF YOU ENFORCE THE RULES YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEM AS WELL YOU HYPOCRITE," the motorist roared.

"FUCK YOU I'M GOING," Aomine roared back and drove off as Kagami laughed all the way home.

Aomine couldn't help but give in and laugh with him. He was too cute giggling his head off at Aomine's misfortune. He dragged his head over to prop against his chest and kissed the top of his head affectionately when they got to Kagami's house.

"Go take a rest. No more dangerous stunts for the night," he smiled.

"Alright I'll be good until tomorrow," Kagami teased making him laugh.

"I'll be sure to fuss at you tomorrow then."

"Deal. Good night stupid. Thank you for everything. I'll try not to make you wait too long," he smiled.

"You can take as long as you want. It would be years of you never giving an answer and I'd still only love you. You stupid angel. Give me back my heart," he teased.

"No way," Kagami denied. "But I'll give you mine in return," he teased back.

"Deal," Aomine chuckled planting another kiss to the top of his head before allowing him to pull away. "Good night Taiga," he called as he climbed out of the car.

"Good night Daiki," he beamed back cutely before walking toward his house.

"You stupid adorable angel you're going to be the death of me," he groaned cutting across the grass to his own driveway. "Now to find out who that ex was and kill him for ever mistreating my cutie," he thought as he walked to his house prepared to murder the fool that dared to ever mistreat such a wonderful innocent person.

The person that he had fallen in love with in such a short time. If you had asked Aomine several months ago could you fall in love in a short amount of time he would have told you that you were stupid. Now he would blush and shrug his shoulders with an adoring smile on his face as he thought about his redheaded angel.

And another one done! I hope you liked it! As you know I don't normally write anything with abuse in it but after being around many situations of abuse during clinicals for my Social Work degree I do want to bring more awareness. Abuse can happen to anyone even males even women can abuse males. My clinical sites just went over abused women. Never about how male/male relationships could have abuse or when women in male/female relationships abused men. Abuse happens to anyone it doesn't discriminate. So that's why I felt the need to let out my frustration of it not being looked at properly even when it's supposedly acknowledged but the main focus I ever see is women being abused by men and women being abused by women or children being abused and that's wrong. Men deserve protection as well and society needs to learn that. No abuse is right male or female, it's all wrong and something needs to be done about it.
