Chapter 21

-October 3rd Fortress of Solitude 4:38 P.M.-

Power Girl was hooked to some monitors and a yellow sun lamp above her and Grandma was sitting in a chair beside her, in heavy winter clothes.

"Is she going to be ok," Grandma Rose asked.

"Of course she Mrs. Evans, all she needs is some rest," Superman reassured her.

Flash ran into the room and said, "J'onn found something Sups."

"I'm coming," he said, "Keep her company." He pointed her eyes at the grandmother/granddaughter duo and walked into the next room.

"Are you going to be all right Mrs. Evans," Flash asked in a concerned voice.

Grandma Rose wiped some tears away from her eyes and said, "Please call me Rose, and I'm going to be ok. It just hurts me to see her like this."

"I know," Flash said in a knowing voice, "A grandmother should always worry about their grandchildren, it what makes them human."

Rose smiled and said, "Thank you Flash. Has J'onn told you anything about the other girl?"

"He found that she wasn't acting on her own free will if that what's your asking," Flash said in his rare serious tone.

"Cadmus," Rose hissed, "Can't they leave my family alone?"'

"I honestly wish I could say 'yes,'" Flash responded. "But with our luck they'll just slip into the cracks of our justice system and lie wait and when we least expect it strike again."

"I normal grandmother shouldn't have to worry about such thinks," Rose sighed in disappointment.

"Take it from a pro, normal is overrated," Flash said jokingly as he went through a serious of ridicules poses.

This caused Rose to giggle at the Flash's antics.

"How's Karen doing," Superman asked in a concern voice as he floated down from the floor above.

"The same," Rose responded, "Any news on the other girl?"

"She's like Karen, an unwitting puppet of Cadmus," Superman responded, "J'onn is trying to undo the mental damage that they have done, but even he has his limits."

"I can't understand the atrocities that Cadmus is doing in the name of 'America's Safety'," Rose said with a hint of disgust in her voice.

"There will always be individual(s) who want to fight even if there is no real purpose or see threats where there is none," a deep voice said as Batman emerged from the shadows.

"How does he do that," Flash exclaimed.

"Practice," Superman suggested noncoherently.

"Wormholes," A weak voice suggested.

"Karen you're awake," Rose cried out as she hugged her granddaughter.

"Air, I need air," Karen cried out weakly.

Superman put a hand on Rose's shoulder and said, "She needs her rest."

Rose let go of her granddaughter and Karen asked weakly, "Did we win?"

"Of course we did," Flash said as he struck a victory pose, "Because we're awesome that way!"

"We're awesome you're the clown," Karen retorted.

This caused laughter at the Flash's expense.

-October 4th Hogwarts 8:39 A.M.-

"I had it up to here with your so called 'Greater Good' Dumbledore," Nicholas Flamel shouted at Dumbledore, "First you managed to destroy my prototype for my Philosophers Stone 4 years ago and now you have to drag 2 of my squib decedents into your personal war!"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Dumbledore tried to reassure the older man.

"Rose Evens and Karen Starr, ring any bells," Flamel said in a 'I-know-you-know' voice. "I still have tea with Rose from time to time and she has told me what you've did to her daughters and grandson, turning them into your personal pawns in your manipulations and trying to do the same with her granddaughter."

"Now, old friend..." Dumbledore started.

"Don't you now old friend me Dumbledore," Flamel interrupted, "My lovely wife and I haven't lived for nearly 700 years for that to work on me!"

"Voldemort is gaining power every day and I need everything that I can get to help them see the light," Dumbledore explained.

"They're mad dogs Dumbledore," Flamel countered, "You cannot help those who do not want to be helped."

"They just don't know it yet," Dumbledore explained his reasoning.

"You're ways are going to doom Britain Dumbledore," Flamel said with a disappointed look on his face, "The muggles won't stay blind forever. They will take notice if Voldemort goes on another killing spree in the UK, Albus."

"They can't stop us, it has been proven before," Dumbledore said with confidence.

"The muggle world has changed since the 40's, the muggle world has changed," Flamel countered, "It is still changing. The little club of yours won't stand a chance of keeping the peace in the muggle world. In fact I can guarantee their failure."

"Muggles are inferior to us and you know it," Dumbledore stated with disgust in his voice, "They won't stand a chance."

Flamel poked Dumbledore's inflated chest causing him to fall into his chair, "They outnumber us a thousand to 1, Albus. Not including the Kryptonians they have weapons that we can only imagine and some of the muggles have abilities we can't achieve through magic. They will overwhelm us through both strength and numbers. 1 Kryptonian can take on Europe's magical population by themselves if they decided to."

"I'm sure your exaggerating," Dumbledore said trying to reassure his old friend and mentor.

Flamel snorted and said, "You're as blind as the rest of the British wizards Albus. I thought I taught you better than that. One of the first lessons I taught you there is no single answer to a problem. We wizards have our ways and muggles have theirs. Muggles have long passed the Dark Ages Albus, they have multiple solutions to problems that we haven't thought of yet."

"All the more reason we should keep them in line," Dumbledore responded.

Flamel snorted in disgust and said, "Keep away from Rose and Karen if you know what's good for you."

With that Flamel left Hogwarts.

-Voldemorts Hideout sometime-

"Sir she has disappeared somewhere over the North Pole," a random Death Eater informed the Dark Lord.

"Crucio," Voldemort casted the spell on the Death Eater and he dropped to the floor screaming in pain, "Idiot! I wanted you to follow the girl!"

"Master, if I may to be so bold, she may have a hideout somewhere up there that we don't know about," Snape informed him. "You are aware that there is magical interference up there where the common witch or wizard's spells will stop working in the area."

Voldemort thought about it and said, "You speak the truth Snape, the question is where."

"We could always trick Dumbledore to send some blood traitors and mudbloods up there to look for us," Snape suggested.

"What a wonderful idea Snape," Voldemort let an evil smile on his face. "Crucio!" The spell hit Snape, he too fell to the ground and started withering in pain, "Don't ever interfere with my punishments."

"Yes master," Snape managed to say in pain washed over his body.

-October 4th 12:01 PST The Fortress of Solitude-

Hermione Granger woke up still half-asleep and looked around in her unfamiliar surroundings, "Hello!"

Just then she saw an elderly woman enter the room, she tried to get up but her body felt like it weighed a tone, the elderly woman approached her and said, "You shouldn't move."

"Where am I," Hermione asked.

"The Fortress of Solitude," the woman replied.

Hermione gave her a 'what-the-fuck' look and asked, "No seriously, where am I?"

"She told you," a masculine voice said.

Hermione turned her head to look at the new voice and Hermione's eyes widened in surprise, she was looking at the Man Of Steel himself.

"Do you what today is," he asked.

"September 9th," Hermione asked.

"It's October 4th," the woman corrected.

"When we found you, you were experimented on by a rogue government group called Cadmus," Superman explained as she saw the girls eyes horrified eyes.

"W-w-what were they doing," Hermione asked in a scared voice.

"They put some of my DNA into you," Superman explained, "Hoping you'll become a weapon against the Justice League."

Hermione quickly looked around and saw her reflection in some of the medical equipment, her once modest bust was now bigger than her head and her once bushy brown hair was now neck length and black, she now had blue eyes and she was wearing a black bikini top and matching skin tight pants, Hermione fainted.

"I think she took that pretty well," Flash said who was leaning on the wall in a corner and he sipped some of his empty smoothie cup.

3 minutes later Hermione stirred and said sleepily and nobody in particular, "I had the strangest dream where I was talking to Superman and he said that my DNA was altered by using his."

Hermione opened her eyes and saw the Flash finishing another smoothie, with a small mountain of empty paper cups next to him, Hermione's eyes widened in surprise, and the Flash said, "It was no dream."

Hermione started panicking she ripped off the monitors that were suctioned off of her skin Superman and Rose tried to calm her down and Hermione then grabbed the bed she was on unaware she was bending the metal structures as she tightened her grip. Hermione was unaware when a wet rag covered her mouth and nose and Hermione passed out.

"She should be calmed down when she wakes up," Batman said, as he took his hand away from Hermione's mouth.

"How did you know chloroform would work on her," Superman asked.

"It was laced with kryptonite," Batman stated and walked away.

"Who carries kryptonite laced chloroform in their utility belts," Flash asked in a raised voice to no one in particular.

"Apparently he does," Rose responded to the Flash's question.

-October 6th 10:01 A.M. New York City; Outside Grandma Rose's house-

"Are you sure it's ok for me to move in with you two," Hermione asked uncertain as she carried a duffle bag of her stuff that she managed to save from Salem. She is still wearing the same outfit as before.

"Of course," Karen replied as she carried single handily a mattress into Hermione's new room, "It's the least that we can do since Cadmus nearly ruined your life and somehow managed to block your magic."

Hermione sighed in defeat and said, "Good thing Salem offered nonmagical courses, such as Chemistry, Georgrophy, and Algebra, unlike Hogwarts."

Karen laughed and once she manged to stop laughing at the idea of those classes, "Some might consider you lucky for not taking math!"

"If you don't mind me asking are you really related to Superman," Hermione asked.

"Pfft, no," Karen snorted out the response, "I'm like you, somewhat, my Uncle sold me to Cadmus to do similiar experments on me, but I managed to escape."

"Then why are they still up and running," Hermione asked again as they entered her new room and she put her bag by the closet to sort out later.

"We couldn't get enough evidence against them," Karen said in a disappointed tone as she put the mattress on the bed frame, with Hermione helping her straighten it out. "Plus the Government unofficially sanctions them and provides under-the-table deals and money for protection against the League and U.S. interests."

"I always wanted to join the League when I was old enough," Hermione stated.

"Oh? What was your superhero name then," Karen asked as she raised an eyebrow curiously.

Hermione blushed and mubled something.

"Sorry I didn't catch that," Karen said.

Hermiones blush redened even more and said in a low whisper, "Princess Rainbow ok."
