A/N: Wow, I am updating after a long time :/ I deeply apologize. I had a little blockage on the story part. Enough of my ribble-rabble; on with the show!
"So, the video Ami," Megan prodded me.
"Honestly Megan, I have no idea about it," I shrugged my shoulders and turned away.
"Well, the girls deserve it; they been getting lip from everyone," Chloe replied.
At that moment, Luna stormed into the hallway with Bailey at her heels.
"Come on Luna, it was just a prank," Bailey said desperately.
"That was no prank! That was pure, unadulterated hatred and jealousy," Luna fumed. "And not just once but twice; don't even bother!"
Bailey looked absolutely heartbroken; the rest of us were staring daggers at her, and she booked it. Luna's angry face was replaced by one of sadness and betrayal; my heart felt heavy for her.
"I can't believe she would do something like that," Luna sighed.
"I actually feel kinda bad for her," I replied sullenly.
"Karma is a bitch though," Chloe added.
"Bailey should actually count herself lucky that Ami isn't pressing charges," Megan stated matter-of-factly. "And she's young; she'll get over it."
"Yea, all she has to do is pay for damages to the insurance company," I shrugged my shoulders.
"That's still a lot of money for her, taking into account her financial situation," Luna pointed out.
"Oh come on Luna, she was carrying the brand new iPad last week," I scowled.
"I guess that's true too," Luna sighed.
"Surprise!" I heard Kiba's voice from behind me and felt his arms wrap around me from behind.
"Kiba!" I craned my neck back to look at him; since when was he so tall?!
He was as handsome as ever, and the memories from earlier this morning came pouring back to me. I smiled big, and he took this as an invitation to kiss me right there.
"What?! Since when?!" Chloe yelped at this sudden development.
"Since this morning, Ami is my one and only girlfriend," Kiba announced, and held me close. "Jealous much?"
"Not even," Chloe huffed. "Why not tell us?"
"It literally happened right before school," I said quickly. "The thing with Bailey happened, then he came in and no time in between."
"And you know now," Kiba replied, not letting me go.
"That we do," Megan nodded, and the bell cut her off.
"I'll see you third hun," Kiba said and kissed me again. "Maybe in between."
"Okay," I smiled, breathless.
I still couldn't get over the fact that Kiba and I were an item now; a couple to put it more accurately. Even as Kiba and I exchanged goodbyes' I couldn't get my mind off of him.
"Ami, Amiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii," Derek's voice floated over to my consciousness.
"Hmm?" I snapped out of my daydream.
"So, you and Kiba huh?" Derek smiled mischievously.
"Oh! Yes you could say that," I turned away and blushed red.
"Well, the rumors are spreading like wildfire," Derek fell into step with me and walked the rest of the way to art class. "Well, the fact that the two of you went to homecoming together also fueled the fire."
"You say that like it's a bad thing," I frowned.
"I don't mean it like that," Derek said earnestly. "Just…rumors aren't true for the most part. Don't let the rumors get to you or Kiba okay?"
"Okay…" I was somewhat confused by Derek's sudden bout of seriousness, but he bounced back immediately.
"Soooooooo, is it official?" Derek asked happily.
"Of course it is!" I replied. "Kiba's my boyfriend, and I'm his girlfriend."
This simple statement sent my mind onto a whole different level of euphoria; I didn't think a relationship could make a person this happy. I guess it was the fact that it was with Kiba.
"Ami! You and Kiba! So adorable and congratulations!" Kristy was the first one to speak to me when I sat down in art class.
"Thanks Kristy," I smiled.
"So, what are the details?" she asked slyly.
"What details? No offense Kristy, but relationships have some degree of privacy," I shrugged my shoulders and told her as politely as I could.
I couldn't concentrate in class; even though I was ecstatic about where Kiba and I were headed, there was one nagging thought in the back of my mind: Parents. When were we supposed to tell them? And how? What were we supposed to say?
My parents always talked to me about how guys my age only have sex on their minds, and nothing else. They would tell me that high school was no place for relationships; I wasn't mature enough yet. I'm not sure how my parents would take it, let alone his mom and his sister.
Between classes I was greeted by people who I didn't even know. Some of them tried to walk with me to class, as if they had known me their whole lives. Bunch of attention whores I swear…
"Hey Ami!" I heard a familiar voice behind me.
"Now what," I grumbled; at this rate, I was going to be late for class.
I was surprised to see Jennifer heading my way.
"Look, uhm, about a few weeks ago, I guess I just overreacted a bit and I wanted to say sorry," she smiled big. "I hope we can be friends. See you around!"
By the time third period did come, I was utterly discombobulated.
"Good morning Ami!"
"Cute homecoming dress girl!"
"Hope you had a great weekend!"
All of these comments were being thrown at me by the same girls, who last week were calling me a slut. Then the epiphany came; I was Kiba Inuzuka's girlfriend. THE Kiba Inuzuka's girlfriend. Since he is the most popular guy on campus, it sort of makes me second in command. If anyone pisses me off in any way, the whole school would turn against him/her; that's a lot of power.
Now, who shall I take out first?
"Ami! I forgot to tell you on Saturday!" Derek came up behind me.
"Shit Derek, don't scare me like that!" I nearly yelled, then calmed down. "What did you forget?"
"That you looked sexy as hell," Derek said flirtatiously.
"Oh…" a pink tinge came to my cheeks. "Well—uhm…"
"Derek! You'd better not be flirting with my girlfriend!" Kiba said sharply.
"Never! Just handing her a compliment," Derek smiled.
"Fine," Kiba grumbled, then turned to me. "Hey beautiful."
This sentiment made me blush even more. As we took our respective seats in class, the bell rang and Mrs. Wilson continued on with the curriculum. I tried to focus my attention on her lecture but my eyes averted toward Kiba every few minutes. Each time I looked, I found him staring intently at me, and a smile would be on his face constantly. My insides were jumping with happiness; I hope this jitteriness dies down in the later stages of this relationship, otherwise I won't be able to concentrate on anything at any time. I forced myself to pay attention to what Mrs. Wilson was saying; this class was the one class that we could actually apply in real life.
"Hey girlfriend," Kiba greeted me after class.
He was waiting outside for me right after class. I walked straight up to him, and he pulled me close to him into a tight hug.
"Hey Kiba, let's have lunch here, just the two of us, like before," I said in the hug.
He pulled away and looked at me, "Sure, but is everything okay?"
"Of course! I just…want you all to myself today," I said slyly.
"Oh, well alright," he smiled big. "Same place as usual?"
I nodded once and smiled. We sat down on the ramp outside out usual portable classroom and took out our lunches.
"Kiba, I'm a bit frightened to tell my parents, and your mom scares me," I said sullenly. "What if they say no? What if they forbid us to see each other?"
"Hey hey calm down; your parents love me remember? And don't worry about my mom," Kiba assured me. "We'll tell them today."
"Okay…" I said in a small voice.
We ate silently for awhile until Kiba spoke, "How does it feel?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked surprised.
"I mean being…together…" Kiba said with a slight blush on his face.
"Oh! Feel…well, it feels nice," I smiled with a blush.
The bell rang in the distance and Kiba took my hand into his, "Shall we go? We do have the last period off."
"Go where?" I asked confused.
"My place," he said as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
My mind went to the gutter instantly; I blushed a dark red and looked away.
"No—nothing like that!" Kiba stuttered as soon as he realized what he had said. "At least…not yet."
I gripped his hand tightly and stared at the ground as we walked toward the parking lot.
"Actually, could we go to my house first?" I asked timidly.
"Sure honey," Kiba said, gaining his voice back.
I can't believe my mind went to where it did. I shook my head of those thoughts and sat down into Kiba's car.
"Kiba, what will we say?" I said quietly.
I was freaking out on the inside; what would my parents say?
"Don't worry," Kiba said soothingly. "Everything will be fine."
"Yea…you're right," I smiled and reached across the car to put my hand on his thigh. "Just make sure we're back in time so I can pick up my brother."
We arrived at my house shortly and my nerves began stretching. Kiba took my hand into his and kissed it softly.
"Ready?" he asked softly.
"Yup, let's go," I said, and got out of the car.
As we were walking inside, I spoke, "You know, my parents are very protective of me when it comes to guys; I'm surprised they like you so much."
"Well, I just got that special spark," he smiled big.
"Ami, you're home early," my mom spoke with surprise as I walked through the door. "Kiba, it's nice to see you."
"Yea mom, uhm—"
"Mrs. Spanos, I wanted to ask you something and if you don't agree, then I will respect your decision," Kiba said firmly yet politely.
"Of course Kiba," my mom responded with a small smile.
"I like your daughter a lot, and I want her to be my girlfriend; if that's okay with you and Mr. Spanos," Kiba finished quickly.
"There are rules," my dad showed up suddenly. "First, curfew on school nights is 9:30pm and on weekends it is 11pm. If you do come over Kiba, be downstairs at all times or in the bonus room. If you do go into a room, doors open always. And for you young lady, if you go to his house, I want hourly check-ins and to speak to his parents."
"That won't be an issue, but if it's alright, Ami and I would like to tell my family together," Kiba agreed to my dad's terms of agreement.
I visibly relaxed; granted it was strict, it allowed us to be together. This brought happiness to my heart.
"Thank you! I promise I won't let you down," Kiba bowed slightly and said gratefully.
"We know you won't," my mom smiled. "Now run along. But make sure to pass on our phone numbers alright?"
"Yes mom," I responded. "I'll be back soon with Tora."
Kiba and I left after we bade my parents good-bye.
"It's kinda strict but that's okay," Kiba said softly once we were sitting in his car.
"You're not mad or frustrated or upset?" I asked quietly.
"No! Of course not! You are my first girlfriend and honestly, I want to make it work. It's not your parents said 'no.' We just have to play it safe," Kiba smiled and winked at me. "Makes it a lot more interesting don't you think?"
"You're right, they didn't say no; but it's your mom that I'm afraid of now," I said slowly.
"Scared?" Kiba asked, somewhat bewildered.
"Remember what happened at homecoming?"
"Oh yea," the event dawned on him. "But don't worry. She and my sister really like you."
"They do?" I looked at him in shock.
"Yea…well I kinda have been talking about you for years," Kiba laughed nervously.
"Years?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Well, I mean…you know," he blushed bright red.
"Oh…right," it dawned on me.
"We should probably go inside," Kiba said quickly, his face still slightly red.
With all of the conversation, I hadn't noticed how much we were driving. We had already arrived at Kiba's house.
He took my hand into his and we walked together to the front door.
"Awww well look at you two lovebirds," Hana called out from a window on the second floor. "Finally made it official huh?"
"Hana don't you dare," Kiba said warningly.
He let go of my hand and dashed into the house; I guess brothers and sisters aren't so different. I jogged inside to see Auntie Tsume scolding both of them.
"Hana you're older I expected—" she stopped when she saw me and smiled. "Ami what are you doing here?"
"Uh, well Kiba and I came to tell you that..uhm," I stated awkwardly and blushed furiously. "Well he's my boyfriend and I'm his girlfriend. And uhm, I wanted to make sure it was okay with you and Hana. And if it's not, well, we'll respect your decision."
A silence followed my little speech and I shifted my embarrassed gaze to the floor.
"Well isn't she just adorable, all beet faced," Hana giggled. "I love her Kiba! Don't mess it up!"
I nodded quickly and silently and then looked timidly at his mom.
"You two know the rules," she said sharply. "No lovey dovey around me, doors open and parents' numbers."
I handed her a piece of paper with my phone number, my parents' numbers and my home number. She looked pleased enough.
"Oh and sleepovers: SEPARATE rooms!" she enunciated.
"Yes mom," Kiba nodded.
"Although I doubt my parents are okay with sleepovers," I muttered more to myself.
"Don't worry; when college comes along, we'll have plenty of those," Kiba whispered so only I could hear.
I became even redder in the face.
"We should get back to school," I muttered. "I still have to pick up my brother."
"Right; how about you come over after?" Kiba smiled.
"I'd love to," I smiled.
"Mom, Hana, I'll be back soon," Kiba called out.
"Be back soon!" Hana's voice came from the kitchen.
Kiba took my hand into his and we went back to school. The warmth that encompassed my hand was comforting and I felt as if I could take on the world.
"Kiba, you're the best," I said suddenly.
"I am?" he asked quizzically.
"You are," I stood on my tiptoes and gave him a peck on the lips. "It's day one right now. We'll have plenty more days yes?"
KIba smiled and nodded, "Yes we will."
