EPILOGUE PART ONE
9 months later...
He woke up to the sun streaming through the curtains, he instantly rolled over for Kate but was faced with emptiness. Sitting up still dazed with sleep he realised what was going on it was his wedding day he was in one of the guest rooms and Kate was asleep in their bedroom, they were in the Hamptons and he was marrying Kate today...
He turned to face the door as it clicked open "rise and shine Castle" Ryan sing songed as he enter with Esposito.
"Hey guys, how's everything down in the garden? Have you seen Kate?"
"Everything looks fine but then again I'm a dude" Espo joked.
"Everything's fine, Castle" Ryan rolled his eyes at the Latino detective.
"As for Beckett we have special orders from the girls that you two are not allowed to see each other until Beckett walks down the aisle to you bro"
Castle sighed as he hopped out of bed, "what about texting can I at least text her good morning"
The boys both made a whipping sound, "you guys can tease all you want I don't care because I get to marry my one today!" He just couldn't hide the smile.
Both detectives just smiled and nodded, "okay, okay. But then you need to get ready" Ryan instructed. Castle just nodded and grab his phone as he made his way to the ensuite.
'Morning beautiful, hope you slept better than me... Missed you last night! I've been told we can't see each other until your dressed in White and I'm standing at the end waiting for you. Just wanted to tell you that I love you xx. R.'

She woke to the sun streaming through the curtains, she opened her eyes slightly slowly adjusting to the bright light. As she began to adjust to what was going on around her and the sound of quiet laughter caught her attention as she sat up the comforter falling around her lap. "Morning girl, 'bout time you woke up!"
She smiled across to Lanie, Alexis and Tiffany Kate's cousin , "hey guys what's the time?"
Alexis made her way to the bed sitting next to Kate, giving her a quick side hug "just after 8, we're surprised you didn't wake up sooner Lanie and Tiffany were debating on whether we should wake you" Alexis said smiling back at Kate.
As Lanie and Tiffany joined the other two on the bed with Mandy Kate's phone vibrated along the bed side table she grabbed it and looked down to see that she had a new text message from Castle, she couldn't help but giggle a little at his picture. She remembers taking it about a month ago
They had the day off and had slept in well Kate tried to sleep in but woke at 7. She laid there for ages just running her hand through his hair and lightly tracing the lines along his handsome face there was no denying that he was ruggedly handsome but there was just something about the way he looked in the morning that made her heart flutter. She reached over for her phone and snapped a quick image of his sleepy face, he's been trying to get her back ever since saying that most of his photos of hers are not for displaying and for his eyes only and it was unfair. She just laughs and rolls her eyes every time.
After she read the message she couldn't hide her smile, she could not wait for the time to come to walk down the aisle she missed him which she found ridiculous because she lasted along time not sleeping with him but now that she has, she just can't sleep right when he's not there. Lanie rolled her eyes at Kate who was smiling like a love sick teenager "girl you have it bad if your smiling like that".
"How do you know it's Castle?" Kate challenged Lanie.
"Puh lease, like anyone else can make you smile like that"
"She's right Kate only dad makes you smile like that" Alexis added with a slight aw in her voice.
Kate just ducked her head her cheeks reddening, "yeah well I'm allowed to its my wedding day" Tiffany leaned over and lightly squeezed her knee "thanks Tiff".
Tiffany just smiled before adding "also no seeing the groom until, your walking down that aisle!"
Kate turned her phone quickly shaking it slightly "so I've heard" she laughed.
"Ok girl were all gonna go to our rooms and shower so you can go shower and we will meet back in here in half an hour no leaving the room I'll bring you a coffee" Lanie instructed as the girls made their way to the door.
"Yes sir" Kate jokingly saluted "see you girls soon".
Kate quickly sent Castle a text as she made her way to the ensuite.
'Hey I just got the lowdown too, :( missed you last night was lonely with out you in the big bed ;) but I did get to see your handsome sleepy face this morning thanks to your text :) can't wait to see you soon. I love you too Rick. -K xx'
She couldn't get rid of her smile as she jumped in the shower getting ready for their big day.

Once Martha was ready she went down to the secluded garden where the ceremony was to be held just to give the space a quick once over there were five rows on each side with four lots of black wooden chairs for the guests to sit on during the ceremony. She noticed Jim standing over in the distance behind the garden, making her way over she softly placed her hand on Jim shoulder, the two of them have become good friends since their children got together.
"Everything okay Jim?" Martha asked in a calm voice.
"Oh hi Martha... Yeah just thinking" he gave her a small smile not quite reaching his eyes.
"Ahh" realisation came to her as she realised what Jim meant.
"She would be so proud of Katie" he let out a small chuckle "you know I still remember when Katie came home from school one day something happened with her and her boyfriend and Johanna, went down to her room and I stood near the door. Just listening to the two of them. You know what she told our Katie?" He gave Martha a side way glance before continuing taking a deep breath. "she told her that we all have to trudge through the toads until we find our princes. And the day she would get married would be the day she found true love."
Martha squeezed his upper arm giving him a small smile "wise words, you know I never thought I would see this day again my son marrying the one after being hurt twice I could see it in his eyes that he was about to give up on love and than Katherine, well she arrested him" the both let out a laugh at that Jim remembering that phone call he got when Rick decided to follow his Katie around. And Martha remembering that spark that came back in her sons eyes, he was so happy, intrigued.
"Martha..." Jim turned to face the red head before continuing "thank you for raising such an honourable man, I don't think I can ever thank Richard for being there for my Katie I haven't seen her so happy since before Johanna was taken from us."
Martha couldn't help herself any longer, so she just pulled Jim into a hug thanking him as well.

Kate was now seated in the chair facing the mirror, Lanie behind her creating a 'hair masterpiece' while Tiffany did Kate's make up. Alexis was helped getting Mandy, dressed in a soft lilac dress so she was ready to be the flower girl.
"So Lanie just remember my mothers veil needs to sit on my head and nothing over the top." Kate instructed eyeing her best friend in the mirror.
"Girl! Please I know what I'm doing just trust me and stop talking so Tiff can do your make up!" Tiffany just laughed as she nodded to both of them.
Alexis looked over to Kate's reflection when she heard the sudden laugh smiling at her before turning back to help Mandy.
"I don't think I've ever seen you so happy Kate. It's good on you!" Tiff added
Kate's eyes began to water but her smile didn't falter, "yeah" she whispered "they're pretty extraordinary" she finished smiling at the two looking . "Now stop making me cry and let's get this" she gestured to herself "on the way! And let's make sure we use waterproof mascara and eyeliner please!" She joked.
Both girls just nodded and finished getting Kate ready.
Half an hour later, there was a knock on the door before it opened and the girls were hit with the boldness of the older woman's red hair, "ahh darlings you all look wonderful" she than turned to her future daughter in law she looked absolutely breath taking and she wasn't even in her gown yet. She made her way over to Kate pulling the bride-to-be in for a long hug. "Your look exquisite Katherine absolutely beautiful. Richard is a lucky man!" She whispered into her ear.
Kate blinked back her tears as she squeezed the older woman back, whom had become a mother figure to Kate over the past years, as she pulled back Lanie told the two that the girls were just going to get changed. Kate just nodded and smiled back, "thank you Martha but trust me I'm the lucky one"
Once they were both sitting on the bed, Martha pulled out a long slim black box. "Oh Martha you didn't..." Kate began to protest but was immediately cut off by a shake of Martha's head.
"Nonsense darling, think of it as your something borrowed, you already have your something new those stunning diamond earrings from Richard - he did good! Your something old your mothers beautiful veil. This can be your something borrowed, that I would love you to wear... If you like it."
Kate tentatively took the long box out of Martha's hand her eyes watering up already, as she took the lid off she let out a small gasp it was exquisite. "Oh Martha... It's beautiful".
Martha smiled and quickly squeezed Kate's knee "it's a family heirloom, my mother gave it too me before she passed away. My parents were married for fifty years, she wore this on her wedding day so this... This is for you to wear today, for you and Richard to have a wonderful fulfilling life together".
Kate nodded running her index finger along the slim band of small diamonds she let out a soft chuckle "oh I'm so glad Lanie bought the water proof mascara with her" she joked blinking back the tears threatening to escape "thank you Martha... For everything, for raising such an amazing beautiful man" she leaned in to hug Martha again before pulling away.
Martha gently took the bracelet out of the box as she tightened the clasp on the bracelet around Kate's wrist, "I'm not the only one who's helped him darling, let me tell you before he met you Richard didn't really believe anymore the light had died out in his eyes. But I tell you what the night he came home after that very first case the spark was back. Over the years it's just gotten bigger and that my dear is because of you."
Kate blinked back the tears again, Martha pulled her back in for a hug giving her a quick squeeze "how about we mutually agree we've changed changed each other's lives for the better?" Kate smiled. "You've also helped me Martha whenever I needed to talk to my mother and I couldn't I knew I could turn to you, so thank you, there's no one else I would want to be my mother-in-law".
Now it was Martha trying to hold back the tears "oh Katherine..." She whispered softly squeezing their clasped hands. "Okay enough crying, this is meant to be a happy day" Martha declared.
They both stood up as Martha made her way to the door she looked over to her right where Kate's dress hung "you're going to look stunning dear" she murmured into Kate's ear as she hugged her one last time before leaving the room Kate quickly went to the bathroom to wipe her eyes so not to smudge her makeup.

"Knock, knock" Castle had just buttoned up his white shirt when he heard the knock and the voice of his future father-in-law "come in".
"Hey Rick" Jim greeted, shutting the door behind him "how you doing son?" Jim and Castle both made their way over to sit down on the small sofa.
"Nervous... A good nervous" he chuckled.
"You'll be fine son, Katie loves you, this is your special day everything will be fine".
Castle gave him a small smile, "yeah, I know I mean I've been married twice both of which I'm not too proud of but Kate, I know this is it she is the one", he nervously picked at the invisible lint on his knee.
Jim let out a small chuckle which Castle gave him a look as if to say 'what's so funny?'. "Rick I may not know a lot about your past relationships but I can definitely say that you and Kate are each other's half. You look at Katie like I looked at my Jo, and Katie has always said she was a one and done kinda girl. So I know you and Katie love each other and are meant for one another."
"Thank you Jim"
Jim pulled out a pair of cuff links "Katie asked me a few weeks ago to give you these, on your wedding day."
This made Castle intrigued a surprise from his Kate, his face lit up when Jim handed Rick the cuff links one of them had engraved 'R&K' and the other had engraved 'Always' suddenly his eyes began to get watery, suddenly all because of the cuff links because they came from Kate. God how was he so lucky?.

The girls were finishing up their hair and make up, Kate was helping Alexis with her hair, curling the back of her long red hair. "Thanks for asking me to be in the wedding, Kate it means a lot".
"Of course, Lex no need to thank me honey it was always a definite" she lightly squeezed her shoulders letting a long trendle of her hair fall from the curling iron "you look beautiful in your dress too Alexis, purple definitely suits you" Kate smiled into Alexis's reflection through the mirror.
Alexis blushed, she loved Kate and was so happy for them both she had never seen her father so in love. "Your going to look amazing today Kate, dad won't know what hit him" she smirked when Kate let out a soft chuckle.

Castle had made his way down to the garden while the boys made their way to wait for the ladies, the seats were beginning to fill up with their close family and friends. He spotted Maddie sitting down with her plus one she caught his eyes and gave him a thumbs up.
Before he could respond his brightly coloured mother was spinning him around, into a hug "ah, hey mother!" He smiled brightly at her when she pulled back.
"Darling! You look absolutely handsome"
"How's Kate?" Trying to get any information of his soon-to-be-wife out of his mother.
"Nice try kiddo, but you will just have to wait and see my dear. Won't be long, but both your girls are gonna take your breath away" she smirked giving him an evil wink.
He was so happy Alexis was apart of the wedding it meant everything to him that his family felt whole.
"Well dear I best go find my spot right at the front, I'm so very proud of you Richard!".
Castle pulled his mother back into a hug thanking her, he checked his watch and realised he had less than five minutes until the wedding. As he made his way to the altar he said hello and thanks to the guests. Also hugging Montgomery who was seated in the front row on the left side of the aisle with his wife and his two girls, he saw the two seats next to Martha who were on the right side of the aisle, reserved for Jim and the seat next to him had a lovely note on the seat 'In memory of Johanna Beckett'.

"Come on Kate lets see it already!" Alexis called out getting impatient.
Kate rolled her eyes behind the ensuite door, as she slipped the navy blue, laced, garter up her thigh stepping into her wedding gown, there was no way she was going to manage to do up the dress so she made her way out to the girls "Lanie can you just help me with the back zip and things?" She was greeted to a room full of gasps, which made her cheeks heat up.
"Wow Kate you look amazing!" Alexis said in awe.
Kate smiled beautifully "yeah?..." She asked with the hint of shyness in her voice.
"Girl you look smoking hot, writer boys not gonna know what hit him, now come here and turn so I can zip you up."
Kate beamed up at her best friend as she turned around "and it's writer man, Lanie!" She whispered only for Lanies ears. Kate made her way to the floor length mirror having a look at her reflection. Her eyes instantly watering.
"You look so beautiful Kate!" Tiffany added which was followed by a high squeal from Mandy.
"Hey you" she cooed as she lifted the small toddler, into her arms. "Are you excited to be the flower girl?" She was returned with another delightful squeal. Kate smiled brightly again "yeah I bet mama, daddy and nana Theresa are excited to see you" she couldn't take her eyes off of Mandy, it was safe to say she was definitely becoming clucky as the days past and that did not go unnoticed by the others in the room.
Once Mandy was back in Tiffany's arms Alexis spoke what everyone else was definitely thinking "your gonna make an amazing mum, Kate!"
Kate let out a shaky breath before pulling Alexis into a hug "thanks honey, love you!"
She squeezed her back, "love you too now let's get you married before dad starts to get restless".
