Sasuke: (sighs) I just hope we come out of this alive.

Sonic: (biting nails) Please pull through Shadow...What would I have to tell the Shadow fans later if he died?!

Sasuke: Sonic, you slashed him open and cracked his ribs! It'll be a miracle if he does! And now you've gone all psycho on us!

Sonic: Man…I've got some problems, don't I?

Sasuke: Yes, yes you do.

Prison

Kakashi's words may have been humorous if death wasn't a possibility right now. Actually, even more than a possibility because it's practically staring me in the face right now, counting down the seconds before it can take my life. But I stare right back, not afraid.

…If that isn't the most blatant lie, I don't know what is.

I'm considering turning around and hauling ass to my home to lock myself in the bathroom, sitting fetal position in the white bathtub, rocking back and forth. But no, I'm an Uchiha dammit, and they don't run away from anything. Focusing in front of me, Sonic crouches lower in his stance, dark flames all over his body with the purple haze surging around him.

I might have to make an exception for this one.

Sonic, with a crazed laugh, dashes towards me. "MOVE Sasuke!" Kakashi yells from behind and I dodge to the left just as Sonic passes by, claws ready to slash. Turning around, I see that the others have gotten out the way of the glowing hedgehog, just in case he'll go after him after missing me.

Sonic brakes in midair, does a 180, and charges again. And again, I jump out of the way at the last second so he couldn't change his path and cut my anyway. The former hero stops and turns around again. However, he doesn't come at me, but just eyes me with a blank expression. There is tense silence until Sonic smirks again. I knew it wouldn't last long.

"You're quick on your feet…" He positions himself like before. "But, too bad that won't stop me."

Even though Sonic's completely crazy right now, what he's saying is true. I can't keep running like this forever. Also, I'm pretty sure running away from this speed demon isn't the best option here. He flies towards me and my eyes search around. Finally landing on a suitable object, I smirk and do the correct hand signs. A mistake now could mean life or death.

Tiger…boar…ox…dog…snake…

Just like that, I'm leaning on a wall enough distance away from Sonic just in time to see him dig his claws into 'my' body. A shudder travels through me. If I was half-a-second too slow doing the jutsu, there would be two hands going through my torso right now.

Sonic's face goes from sadistic to confused when the fake me disappears in a puff of smoke, a medium sized, but heavy, log piece replacing it. I am so glad that the log was just leaning against this wall, it was the only item that I could do kawarimi with.

"Wh-what is this?" The log falls to the ground and Sonic has to follow it down because it seems that his claws are stuck inside the wood.

Sonic growls when he tries to pull out his hands, but fails. "I'm stuck!"

"That's too bad!" Kiba smirks at the bound rodent. He then lets Akamaru jump to the ground. "Let's do this Akamaru! Fang over fang!" The two Inuzukas start to spin in a cyclone and head straight for the grounded Sonic. The hedgehog's eyes widen and he tries to move away from the incoming tackles. He doesn't get anywhere before the two are on him.

As I join back with the others, dust flares up from the attack and I hear grunts of pain from Sonic from in the middle of the debris. Kakashi looks at me and gives an eye smile. "Good job Sasuke, using the wood to replace yourself with." He then focuses back on the fight in front of us. "Making his hands useless is beneficial to us."

"Glad to hear that. The thing is, I didn't even know that was going to happen."

"So…" Shikamaru drawls out. "It was just an accident."

"It doesn't matter if it was on purpose or not!" Naruto grins. "Just enjoy the fact that he can't attack! Multi-Shadow clone jutsu!" Four Narutos pop up and the five blondes dive in the dust cloud to help Kiba pound on Sonic.

Lee steps up, fist raised proudly. "Such youthful spirit! I must join to show off mine as well!"

Tenten lifts an arm to stop him. "You don't have to do that Lee. Naruto and Kiba are more than enough to-"

The green clad boy is already sprinting into the fray. The only girl in team Guy sighs and drops her hand. Neji walks up and pats her on the back. "Just give it up. You'll never get through to him."

Tenten nods. "Yeah, you're right…Hey! Where are you going!?"

Neji looks back at her with a small grin. "Joining the fun." He covers his hands with blue chakra and is about to follow Lee when he glances back to Hinata, who is watching the fight nervously. "Hinata."

The timid girl jumps a bit at her name. "Y-Yes?"

The older cousin tilts his head to where the action is. "You want to help take this guy down a couple notches?"

Hinata just looks down at the ground, pushing her two index fingers together. "Um…I d-don't know…"

Choji burps and discards the soda can he was drinking out of. A large bag of chips following the tin into the trash bin. The swirl cheeked boy then happily shakes the smaller Hyuuga's shoulder a bit. He gives her a smile. "Come on Hinata!" He gestures to the bigger cloud of debris forming in the middle of the street. "We don't want to miss out!"

Hinata glances a still waiting Neji and a bubbly Choji, looking to be debating over the pros and cons of her next action. She then sighs in defeat, hands falling to her sides. "Ok. I'll g-go…!" In the middle of her answer, Choji grabs her arm and literally drags her into the cloud, disappearing from sight. Neji just shakes his head and quickly follows them.

When the long haired genin gets surrounded by the dust, we remaining ninja just watch the fight, or should I say, gang bang. You know, since he's kind of in a bind right now.

Our little group stays silent until Ino groans very loudly. "Well, things over here got really boring real fast."

"What are we gonna do Ino? We don't really have good taijutsu skills like the others." Sakura brings up, her hand placed on her hip.

Ino brushes her hair out of her face and smirks at the bubble gum haired kunoichi. "We don't really have to fight right now…"

Sakura scoffs. "So, you want us to be cheerleaders."

"Since you brought it up, then yeah!"

My teammate deadpans, but ignores that last sentence. "But we are ninja. And they just don't stand on the sidelines cheering."

Ino then quickly grabs Sakura's hand and pulls her close to the action, but careful not to be pulled into it. "Even ninja have to take breaks once in a while!" I hear the platinum blonde yell out. She starts to hoot and yell for the genin fighting the helpless Sonic, and after a while, Sakura gives in and joins Ino. Then they begin to do poses for the battlers.

"Give me a 'G'!"

"G!"

"Give me an 'E'!"

"E!"

"Give me an 'N, I, N'!'

"N, I, N!"

"What does that spell?"

"GENIN!"

"Woooo!"

The remaining ninja, Kakashi, Shino, Shikamaru, Tenten, and I, just sweat drop at the display. We all glance at each other, then back at the two girls, forgetting about the actual gang bang for a second.

"Um…You all are seeing what I'm seeing, right?" Tenten whispers to us.

Shikamaru just sighs. "And this is why girls are so troublesome…" Tenten glares at him, holding up a kunai, and the shadow wielder quickly adds, "Besides you, of course."

Tenten smiles, putting away the sharp weapon. "Thought so." Shino just shakes his head in exasperation beside me, but stays silent. I turn to Kakashi only to see him focused back onto the cloud of dirt, sharingan spinning. Why didn't I think of that? Oh right, watching the cheerleaders.

My eyes fade to red and I can peer inside the disturbed land. I see Sonic still on the ground, receiving each punch, kick, and hit with winces, an open mouthed gasp when Neji comes in and hits one of the hedgehog's legs, rendering it useless. He isn't standing on it now, but he won't be able to stand in the future. A small cut appears on his face when Choji slices him with a kunai. Sonic is still trying in vain to pull out his embedded fingers out of the wood without breaking them. Seeing his poor state, I almost feel sorry for him, but then I remember that he had taken away many, many lives and that feeling goes away.

A few more moments pass before Kakashi shouts out, "Alright! That's enough! Remember, we don't want to kill him!" I don't know how, but everyone hears him over their own noise and hops away from the hedgehog. They are panting and a little tired, but nothing else seems to be wrong. Sakura and Ino back up with the once fighting genin.

"Come on sensei!" Naruto almost whines and points to the wheezing still yellow rodent on the ground. The flames are still present, but the haze is slowly diminishing. "He's still conscious! We are supposed to knock him out!"

Kakashi walks forward and the non-fighting, non-cheerleader ninja follow him. We pause at the loose circle, but the jonin keeps on going until he's standing in front of Sonic. "I want to see if he'll give up willingly before you all go any further."

Naruto pouts and mumbles under his breath, but the others just shrug. "Makes sense." Kiba agrees.

Seeming satisfied with that answer, Kakashi nods and squats down, putting his elbows on his knees. He almost looks bored, but I know he is anything but. "Sonic." Said hedgehog ignores him. Kakashi tries again, nudging the form with his foot. "Sonic."

Teeth clench and Sonic shakily lifts his head, glaring death at the jonin. "What?" His voice is as shaky as his movements, and I can tell he is having trouble just focusing on the ninja in front of him.

Kakashi's eyes soften taking in Sonic's condition before hardening again. "You are in no condition to fight. Just do us all a favor and power down. That way we can take you to the hospital before we decide what to do with you."

Sonic stares at him for another second before dropping his head back on the ground with a sigh. It is quiet for a couple moments and Kakashi looks back at all of us, asking for our opinion. We all nod simultaneously. Kakashi turns back to Sonic and positions himself to pick up the hedgehog barely hanging on to consciousness. Then, we all hear a low chuckle and Kakashi immediately stands up, wary now. "Sonic…"

There is full blown laughter now. Sonic lifts his head again to lock eyes with Kakashi's, still laughing. "You, you r-really thought I would just g-give in like that?" Tears start to form again. "Do you n-not know m-me? I'm Sonic t-the hedgehog!" They drip down his face and the purple haze thickens marginally. "You, bud, h-have to realize that I d-don't give up." He stops laughing, but there is still a smirk present on his face. "EVER!"

At that outburst, the dark haze expands violently then thrusts all of us backwards into the surrounding buildings or sends us flying away only to land on the ground with a painful thud. I go on the latter route. Yelling out when I fly through the air, I try to position myself to do a barrel roll, but I don't position correctly because when my body lands, I hold in a shout of pain when my shoulder dislocates.

My body slides painfully over the concrete before finally stopping. Groaning, I push myself up and shakily get to my feet. Or the best I could with one arm. Examining my skin, I see multiple bleeding scrapes from the hard ground. When I try to move my right arm, shock akin to electricity goes through my system and I give up on moving it.

Looking around, I find the others peeling themselves off the ground or wall they were sent to. Everyone seems to be able to walk, so my eyes shift back to Sonic, who is now floating in the air, binding log broken into pieces. His haunting laugh resonates throughout the air. To my left, Kakashi stands up from the fall he's taken and glares up at the fiend.

"I should've known…It couldn't have been that easy."

Sonic grins. "Of course not! You're talking about the guy who had killed whole villages!" I growl at him under my breath. He has no remorse, none whatsoever. I start to see red, Sonic is reminding me of a person I've tried so hard to forget. If only he would come down so I can wring my hands around his neck and watch him take his last breath…

Wait. What am I saying?

I take a deep breath, calming my inner rage. Killing him won't do anybody any good in the long run. Shadow would be pissed and apparently so would a whole planet of people. Yeah, so that option is out.

"Come down here and fight you monster!" Lee yells out.

"Yeah, so we can beat you up again!" Naruto adds, shaking his fist.

"And this time, I will help!" Sakura glares at Sonic.

The yellow hedgehog barks out a laugh and holds up a hand. Yellow lightning-like energy fills the palm; it gets bigger and bigger. My eyes widen when I recognize the move. Shadow used it not too long ago…Chaos spear.

Sonic holds up the energy up to his face and his looks downright evil. "I won't have to come down to kill you all." He glances at all of us and the grin gets wider. "Goodbye…" He holds his hand out and I close my eyes, bracing for the worse.

But nothing happens.

I open one eye slowly to see Sonic still floating with his arm outstretched, aiming for Kakashi, but the energy is gone. Surprised, the other opens and stares at Sonic. The hedgehog's eyes seem to copy my expression. What's going on?

Shifting my focus, I glance around at the others to see them looking around in confusion, even Kakashi.

"What…?" I'm interrupted in my question when there is the sound of a body hitting the floor behind me. Glancing backwards, Ino's body is laying on the ground, motionless. Before I could even move to check her out, Sonic starts to scream.

Quickly turning around, I see Sonic holding his head in his hands, shaking it back and forth. "What in the world…?" Sakura stares up with confusion written all over her face.

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Sonic yells out and Shikamaru smirks.

"So that's it…"

"What's 'it'?" Choji ask his teammate.

"Ino used the Mind transfer jutsu."

Ah. So she didn't have something like a cardiac arrest behind me. That's good.

"UUUUUGHHH!" Sonic yells out again.

Sakura pumps her fist. "Go Ino! You can do it!"

"Try to take control!" Kakashi calls out. "And if you do, push out the emeralds!"

"You really think Ino can take over his mind?" Naruto quietly asks me.

"She has no choice but to." I grunt out, watching the scene of Sonic mentally fighting with himself. He starts to pull his quills before letting out a final yell and slumping over, floating slowly back to the ground. He lands, but he head is still lowered.

No one dares to take a step closer.

"I-Ino?" Hinata is searching for any sign that her friend had actually done it.

"Or is it still Sonic?" Neji asks with some hostility in his voice.

Sonic just stands there for a moment before his shoulders start to shake and we all hear a low chuckle. As we ready ourselves for the worst, Sonic snaps his head up and gives us a peace sign, grinning a non-psychotic grin.

"Show no fear! Ino is here!" We all let out a sigh of relief as Ino jumps up and performs a few flips in the air before coming down. Feeling a hundred percent safer than five minutes ago, we get closer to her without our lives being in danger.

"How does it feel in there, Ino?" Kiba asks with curiosity.

"Well," She examines herself. "I feel really dirty, like ew." I roll my eyes. Typical Ino answer. She holds her hand out. "And wow, this dude needs a manicure."

"Enough fun and games, Ino." Kakashi firmly says. "Can you hear him in there?"

She nods. "Definitely. And I'm not repeating it because I'm sure that kind of language isn't allowed anywhere." Ino cringes. "Especially that word."

"Ok…" Yeah, I wouldn't know what to say to that either. "But with all seriousness, do you feel the emeralds' power?"

Ino thinks for a second. "Yeah, I do."

"Good, now can you let go of the power, push them out?"

She smirks and shows Sonic's sharp canines. "Pfft, that'll be a piece of cake!"

Kakashi makes a hand gesture. "Then get on with it."

Ino pouts and it looks foreign on Sonic, but it soon melts away to concentration. I hold my breath and everyone else does too until familiar gems come out the body, circling it once, then falling to the ground. Kakashi pulls out a sealing scroll he always has on him and seals the gems up, so they can't be used without permission. I can see why he is paranoid about that.

Ino sighs as her golden color fades into a more familiar blue. She opens her eyes and they are back to an emerald green. The newly obtained wounds from the recent fight are still visible, but those will take no time to heal. She looks at the nails again. "Meh, the manicure can wait till later…"

Kakashi actually eye smiles seeing that most of the danger is over. Ino then loses her balance a bit and Shikamaru moves to catch her, but she stops herself from falling. "Whoa, looks like my time in this body is over." Ino closes her eyes and the body of Sonic slumps to the floor. Moments later, we hear Ino jogging over from where she had fell.

Sakura gives her a high five. "You did it! You saved us!"

Ino just waves it off. "Aww…shtaup it."

Choji wipes off his forehead for show. "Phew…now that's over..."

"It isn't over yet." Shino cuts him off, looking at a blue Sonic.

"He's right." I add. "We don't know what Sonic's mental state is going to be when he wakes up."

Like he had heard his name, Sonic begins to moan and we all take a step back, fearing the unknown. His eyes blink open and he takes in his surroundings before quickly sitting up. He is looking around frantically. "No…" Sonic then looks at his hands and flinches at the sight of them. "No…it was just a nightmare…heh…" He glances up at us, at our wary faces. Sonic's ears fold on top of his head. "Of course it wasn't…" His hand rises and places itself on the same shoulder the curse mark is on. That snapped everyone back to reality.

Naruto angrily marches right up to Sonic, fists clenched, teeth bared. He raises a fist and punches him in the face, sending Sonic back to the ground with a shocked yell. "Damn right it wasn't! Do you know how many people you've killed!?"

Sonic sits up again, rubbing his bruised cheek. "What in the hell was that for?"

Naruto steps closer with his hands squeezing an invisible neck and Kiba holds an arm out before the blonde can get any closer to the hedgehog. "Stop moron! We can't kill him, remember?" Naruto reluctantly drops his hands, but he is still glaring. Kiba turns to Sonic with a scowl on his face. "You deserved that punch, and much more."

"You can rot in hell for all I care."

"Naruto! That's harsh!" Sakura chastises, but then frowns. "But I can't say that I disagree with you."

Sonic averts his eyes, sighing. He searches around the area and frowns. "Where's S-Shadow?" There is a slight tremble to his voice.

"Why do you care?" Shikamaru narrows his eyes. That's the angriest I've seen the bored genin. "You did try to kill him after all." Sonic's eyes widen a bit and he slumps his shoulders.

"We don't even know if he's alive or not…" Lee adds with a hint of sadness in his voice.

The guilty hedgehog cringes and mutters, "I-I didn't mean to-"

"You didn't mean to?!" Naruto is fired up again. He points a finger in Sonic's face. "You cut him open! Not if, but when Shadow comes to, I hope he leaves you sorry excuse for a friend behind!" At the end of his rant, Naruto is left panting and Sonic is trying to disappear into the rubble beneath him.

Kakashi places a hand on the blonde's shoulder. "That's quite enough Naruto, remember that Orochimaru put that curse seal on him." He gestures to the pattern on Sonic's neck. "That snake was manipulating him."

"That doesn't make him any less of a killer." Neji points out darkly.

Sonic just sighs and starts to get up only to fall back down again when one of legs doesn't respond. He looks at the appendage in confusion before frowning in understanding. Sonic glances up at Neji. "Can you fix my leg so I can stand up?" Neji's pale eyes narrow before closing when he turns his head away in a rude negative. Sonic turns from him and tries again. "Hinata?" Even the young Hyuuga looks hesitant. "Please?" He brings out the puppy eyes and Hinata caves almost immediately. She bends down and places her hands on the limp leg for a couple seconds before pulling away.

Sonic nods in thanks and stands up without falling this time. He examines himself and winces. "God, I need to be power washed, amirite?" He looks at us with a forced grin. If he's trying to right the situation, it isn't working. The grin fades when he gets no reaction. "Well, I'll see y'all at the house…"

When Sonic is about to take a step, Kakashi gets behind him and twists his arms around his back not so gently. "Oh no you don't."

"Ugh!" Sonic looks back and glares at the jonin. "Hey! I just got jumped you know!"

Kakashi eye smiles. "I know." He then turns to us. "You guys go to the hospital and find the hokage for treatment of your injuries." My shoulder throbs just to remind me that it's dislocated. "I would leave it to Sakura, but she'll run out of chakra before she can finish all of you."

Sakura nods, agreeing with him. "But sensei, where are you going to go?"

Kakashi tightens his hold on Sonic and the captive gives another grunt of pain. "To the prison."

Sonic, in shock, struggles against Kakashi's iron grip. "Whoa whoa! Prison?"

"Yes, prison. Now let's go." Kakashi literally drags a kicking and screaming Sonic away in the direction of the prison. We all watch them go with blank expressions.

Tenten sighs and steps forwards. "Come on guys, you heard him. To the hospital."

"Right."

We all walk to the hospital in complete silence, lost in our own thoughts. Before I know it, we are inside the building, Sakura asking the receptionist there where Tsunade is.

The lady types some keys on her keyboard. She finds what she is looking for and smiles at the kunoichi, but not after rising a curious eyebrow at our appearances. "The hokage is up on the third floor, room 367. Don't disturb her if she's still working on the patient."

"I really hope Shadow's ok." Shikamaru mutters beside me and I silently agree with him.

"Ok, thank you!" Sakura leaves the front desk and gestures us to follow her onto the elevator. We do so and it's a little crowded, but oh well. Naruto, the last one inside, presses the number three on the wall as the doors close. Foul odor drifts through the air and I scrunch up my nose in disgust.

"You all smell horrible." I say frowning.

"It's not just us!" Kiba scowls. "You are as dirty as everyone here!"

I refuse to dignify that statement with a response, no matter how much I'm being unreasonable right now.

A moment later, the door opens and we burst out, taking deep breaths. "I thought I was going to die in there!" Ino pants.

"Stop whining and let's look for the room." Neji says and starts to search around for the right number. We all follow him, slowly making our way down the hallway. "364…365…366…ah! 367." Neji stops and knocks at the grey door.

"Wait a second!" A feminine voice definitely belonging to the fifth hokage. There is a muffled crash coming from the inside along with a curse. We all look at each other and sweat drop.

The door opens up and an exhausted Tsunade glances down at us, holding a cracked cup. Her face brightens up some. "So y'all defeated him, huh?"

"That's right!" Naruto answers with less enthusiasm than usual.

If Tsunade catches the change in personality, she ignores it. "With minor injuries as well." She leans out the door some and gazes down the hall, throwing the glass into a bin outside sitting by the wall. Her eyebrows scrunch together in confusion. "Where's Kakashi?"

"He took Sonic to the prison." Ino answers.

"There?" Tsunade puts her hand on her hips and sighs. "Looks like I'm gonna have to meet up with the Council to discuss the term." She steps back into the room. "Come in so I can heal you all."

We walk in only to see a very pale Shadow hooked up to a respirator on a hospital bed. His eyes are closed and his breathing is shallow, but the slash in his chest is stitched up.

"He's alive…" I mutter.

"Yeah." Tsunade walks up next to Shadow's bed and checks the machines. Seeming satisfied with the numbers, she turns and faces us again. "It took a while to get his ribs back into place. He also had a punctured lung, but I eventually stabilized him."

Naruto pumps his fist. "Yes! Old hag, you're awesome!"

Tsunade hits him over the head and then starts to heal the bruises and scrapes. "Shut up brat…"

"That hurrrrt…!" Naruto whines and Sakura snickers.

"You deserved it." She holds up her left arm for the hokage to heal the cuts. "So…what's gonna happen to Sonic?" All previous side conversation stop to listen to the answer. Tsunade just shrugs with her lips pulling downwards.

"I honestly don't know. It's most likely that he is going to stay in the prison until we find a way to…" She leaves Sakura's arm and comes over to me. I gesture to my shoulder and she gets to work. "…get him and Shadow back to their home world."

"Wait. What if that takes a year for us to find a way?"

Tsunade looks over to Choji. "Then, Sonic is staying locked up for that long, no exceptions."

I roll and test out my shoulder as she moves on to the next genin in line. Walking over to Shadow's bed, I plop down into the nearest chair and sigh. Honestly, I don't think Sonic deserves to be put in a cell. My eyes glare at the ceiling. If stupid Kabuto hadn't taken him, none of this would've happened. Yeah, the emeralds would have been missing, but we would have gone after them, Sonic on our side. I focus on the sleeping hedgehog beside me. And Shadow wouldn't have ended up in here.

But that's how the cookie crumbles, right? Can't change the past now…

Then, to my surprise, Shadow slowly opens his eyes, hand twitching. "Shadow?" At my question, the others surround the black hedgehog's bed, watching closely. Hearing my voice, Shadow's eyes shift over to me and he raises his hand to try and take the oxygen mask off, only to stop when Tsunade places her hand on his.

She shakes her head. "Don't take that off, it's helping you breathe right now." After some hesitation, Shadow nods and drops his hand again. His eyes take in the occupants in the room.

He coughs some, then asks, "W-Where's S-Sonic?" We can barely hear him because of his weak voice and mask, but hear him nonetheless. We all turn to Tsunade, and she looks uncomfortable. Shadow frowns, becoming impatient. "Wh-where is he?"

The hokage sighs. "He's being taken to jail." Shadow's breath catches before he starts thrashing around. Tsunade panics. "Shadow! Calm down! You still need time to recover!"

Shadow glares and growls. "No! Y-you can't lock h-him up!"

"Sasuke!"

I glance away from the frantic Shadow to Tsunade. She points to the button on the wall by me. "Push that button! It will give Shadow some morphine so he'll calm down!" My hand immediately holds down the button for a couple seconds before lifting off of it. I see the medicine flow through the IV strip into Shadow. After a couple of moments, Shadow starts to calm down.

"You ok now S-Shadow?" Hinata asks and the black hedgehog faintly smiles at her before falling back into a deep slumber.

Silence.

"I think you gave him too much." Tsunade deadpans.

I hold my hands up. "Hey, I'm not the doctor here."

"At least he's calm." Lee says.

"For now." Neji eyes the now snoring Shadow.

Tsunade rubs her temples. "I regret activating that seal…" She mumbles to herself. "Now that all of you are fixed, go home and wash. You stink."

"I think we've already established that." Shino watches Kiba grimace after sniffing his armpit.

"What about Shadow?" Naruto nervously glances at the hedgie in question.
