I don't own Fairytail
"Wait what?" both Natsu and Makarov questioned Gajeel surprise clearly evident in their voice as their eyes stared shocked at what Gajeel had just told them.
"Gajeel is this true?" Makarov asked.
"Every word… the good and the bad" he commented back growing silent as his eyes drifted away staring off into the distance at the rolling waves of the ocean.
"So you're saying that Luce she's" Natsu tried his best to reply but his words were chocked back at the growing sob that was fighting back at his words refusing him to speak up. "But… but why wouldn't she tell me herself… why did I have to find out like this?" Natsu held back his tears the best that he could, he refused to cry in front of his comrades.
"I'm sorry Natsu… it wasn't my place to tell you, but you had to know the reason she was taken away…" Gajeel explained pity in his voice.
"No! I don't want your pity I don't ever want to hear the words 'I'm sorry Natsu' or 'Natsu I pity you' bull shit… if Lucy would have just told me…" Natsu's voice quivered, his fist shaking. Walking up to the giant oak tree out in the back he slammed his fist into it caving a whole all the way to the center of the trunk the tree shaking, leaves fell down from the many branches surrounding Natsu in a shower of green leaves slightly changing color.
Natsu's whole body shook as thick heavy tears came protruding out of his eyes rolling down his cheeks the first few slower than the ones that followed. Dripping down onto his hands they continued down the path that gravity took them dropping onto Natsu's sandaled feet and the ground.
Gajeel and Makarov could do nothing but stare and watch as their fellow Fairytail member was being ripped into pieces by sadness and the feeling of betrayal of the one he loved the most.
"Why the hell would she not tell me?" Natsu's voice rang loudly, the sound kept within the guilds property. "Why the hell would she not trust me…?" Natsu whispered both of his hands that kept him up dropped down to his sides, his knees giving in on him as he sat there hopelessly. A countless number of sobs escaped the once prideful Salamander.
"Natsu… it's not that she didn't trust you… she was scared…" Mira's small gentle voice was heard from behind him as she made her way towards Natsu slowly lowering herself she sat crunched down beside him her knees tucked in.
"Scared… scared of what?" Natsu quietly whispered barely audible.
"This… this reaction exactly… the tears, the yelling; Lucy was just not ready for it all… you may say that your reaction would have been the exact opposite but this sadness is also the pain that you don't want to feel of being responsible yet. You're a mighty dragonslayer you may say you're ready to settle down and actually have a family… but Lucy saw otherwise. She saw the adventure in your eyes the non-stop fighting spirit you carry with yourself. She didn't want you to stop that, she wanted you to live your life and not have her carry you down with her baby issues… she didn't want you to feel responsible". Mira finished quietly explaining carefully to Natsu in a way he could understand the fear Lucy felt when she found out.
"But… it's Lucy I don't want to give up Lucy… I'd give up anything to keep Lucy… and my child" Natsu said proud fully, tears still escaping his eyes.
"Well like you once said to Lucy… let's save the tears for when we win" Mira held out her hand smiling, Natsu stared at her in shock. Grabbing onto her hand tightly Mira helped Natsu back up, turning his view away from Mira and averting his eyes to stare shocked and what stood just outside of the guild doors.
Everyone stood there, the entire Fairytail guild family stood there. All of Natsu's nakama from the mighty cake loving Erza, to the annoying ice-mage Gray, Cana and Romeo, Wendy including the Exceeds standing there pride surrounded the group emitting a strong and justice aura.
"All right my brats this is our fight to get back the mage's that belong to us!" Makarov lifted his hand up yelling to all the members of the guild that stood there.
"For Levy!" Gajeel and pantherlily shouted from within the crowd the guild members roaring in agreement.
"For Lucy!" Wendy shouted with Juvia happily the other guild members once again roared in agreement.
"For Fairytail!" Makarov shouted out pointing his finger up into the air.
"FOR FAIRYTAIL!" the entire guild shouted reciprocating his hand gesture the sound of the cheering being heard all around Magnolia as the sound of Fairytail calling for battle against the future begun.
"Levy… what are you saying…? What do you mean?" Lucy sobbed out quietly tears falling down her face as she held onto the small forming bump on her stomach.
"Exactly what I just said Lucy every single word". Levy said slight regret in her eyes, her mind said otherwise though. Her mind set on one thing and one thing only to save Fairytail from the beast to come.
"But… that's impossible! I won't let you touch my child… I won't let you harm my kid" Lucy said her teeth clenching in the end.
"Luce… I don't want to… it's for Fairytail… it's for the best not for just you, but for everyone". Levy explained calmly her voice soft.
"It just doesn't add up… how can something so small and young be such a danger to the future…? How can a baby a small little baby bring the end to life as we know it?" Lucy's lips quivered as she backed into the corner of the room that Levy had hid her in away from the guild desperately trying to save her baby from the hands of Levy.
"It's not when it's young… but when that 'thing' grows up… you will think otherwise". Levy spat at Lucy pronouncing the word 'thing' extra harshly causing Lucy to wince.
"Don't call it a thing… it's a baby a small harmless baby still growing inside". Lucy defended the honor of her precious child inside.
"Why are you defending it?!" Levy questioned yelling rather loudly.
"Because it's precious to me… even if the guild doesn't know… even if Natsu will not care for it because it is way too early for the both of us to even think about having a child! I will defend my enfant with. My. Life". Lucy pronounced every syllable so clearly that even the densest of all brains would be able to understand.
"But Luce… this child will grow up… it will become an adult and one day that grown up 'baby' of yours will cause nothing but destruction in its path… it will be as if Zeref had returned all over again… but this time you will be responsible for it". Levy stated as she reminded herself that future Levy had told her.
"Lucy… she has a child… only a few people know at this point" future Levy explained quietly towards Levy.
"Only a few… who?" Levy questioned feeling slightly sad that she wasn't within those few.
"That doesn't matter at this point… what matters is that that thing will grow up… and it…" Silence followed as future Levy let a few tears fall down her face. "Nothing but darkness… us people that survive we have to become the darkness to survive… hiding in the shadows everyday being scared endless amounts of time, being petrified that the next day we may not wake up alive or the next day could just be our last… so to stop that from happening I came back. To stop that from happening I will change the outcome before it's too late and if that means losing Lucy as a friend and losing the entire trust of the guild and the one I love. Then so be it". Future Levy raised her head up in determination.
"Wh-what do I do if I can't? What if I fail?!" Levy questioned frantically.
"If you fail then so be it… if you succeed then good job". Future Levy spoke out assurance in her voice.
"But futures change right? People make different choices right?" Levy asked tears pricking in her eyes.
"The future I came from is harsh… someone made the wrong choice and when they made that choice… they brought disaster onto the entire world". Future Levy said as her eyes glazed over in fear.
"Bu-But how will I know if that person makes the choice or not?" Levy questioned scared to miss the hint of her failing.
"If you are so scared to fail then make sure that this happens…" Future Levy bowed her head down slow tears fell down her cheeks.
Levy's eyes grew out in shock as future Levy disappeared back to where she came from. The words being played over and over again through her mind "kill the guild".
Blinking her eyes forcing her mind back to the present Levy stared at the petrified girl in front of her; Levy was bringing pain to her best friend and all her fellow guild members.
"I'm sorry… I can't" Levy fell down to her knees her head hanging low as her hands clenched together forming a small fist. "I can't cause this pain… I've failed… I have to… but I can't…" Levy hiccupped between every few words the feeling of failure filled her every bone causing a great weight to fall on her shoulders.
"Levy… what can't you do?" Lucy questioned slowly coming out of the corner and towards her nakama.
"I can't kill the baby…" Levy's voice came out surprised as her eyes grew with shock and realization. "The choice… the choice was all on me if I killed it or not… because of me the whole world will change" Levy sobbed into her hands as she tried her best to pull herself together but failing hopelessly.
"No… no it can't be right… someone there must be someone somewhere pulling strings… something greater then we could imagine… something-'' But Lucy was cut off as she held onto Levy's shoulder by a loud roar followed by a large explosion.
The roof of the building they were in was ripped off, the walls surrounding them crumbled down everything around them was surrounded by fire the fields were burning red, the wooden buildings bursting into flames bricks falling down the taller buildings like a meteor shower.
"What… what's happening?" Lucy and Levy both questioned themselves quietly.
Turning their heads slowly they saw a sight they thought they would never see… something they believed was extinct… a dragon.
A huge black dragon swooped down its chest glowed red for a few seconds as it opened its mouth to shoot hot flames at the rest of the buildings surrounding them.
"What is all of this… why is this happening?" Lucy quivered as she held onto Levy holding each other tight.
Swopping down the coal black dragon spread it wings wider blowing a mighty gush of wind down open Lucy and Levy pulling them apart. Letting go, Lucy tumbled down the building landing hard on the crumbled and fallen bricks, hearing a crunching noise her body ached in pain as she screamed out in agony.
"Lucy~?" A voice called out from somewhere within the flames.
"Na-Natsu!" Lucy called out immediately recognizing the voice of her beloved dragonslayer.
"Luce where are you?" Natsu called out his voice closer than before.
"I'm over by the fallen building… I can't move…" Lucy yelled out.
Stepping out of the flames Natsu looked around his eyes meeting Lucy's. Running over he bent down holding her in his arms tightly.
"Lucy… I thought I lost you…" Natsu mumbled in the crook of her neck.
"Natsu what's happening? What is all of this?" Lucy questioned her voice growing weak.
"A dragon… it attacked Magnolia… but this time… it doesn't seem to be all friendly" Natsu ended it a bit more in a joking manner causing Lucy to look at him with a no shit Sherlock face.
"Natsu where is everyone?" Lucy questioned silently her eyes growing hazy.
"Lucy no, no stay with me" Natsu heard the difference in Lucy's voice; her body grew weaker in his arms. Holding her like a woman would hold their infant Natsu stared at Lucy as she raised her hand weakly to cup his cheek.
Leaning down gently Natsu planted a soft and gentle kiss on Lucy's lips; his tears fell down onto Lucy as her own tears now combined with his rolled down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry Natsu… I can't…" Lucy whispered quietly her lips brushing against his.
"But what about our kid?!" Natsu questioned loudly pulling back holding onto Lucy tighter. "What about the promise we made to each other!? What about every single night we shared saying that it will happen again… what about our entire future together we carefully planned out?! I want that child with you Lucy… I want to hold our kid as much as I hold you!" Natsu's voice grew pained and harsher.
"I'm sorry my mighty dragonslayer… the princess has to go, just promise me one thing" Lucy quietly whispered trying to hold onto her last bit of energy she held within her the unbearable pain bursting through every inch of her body.
"Anything my princess" Natsu mumbled as he lowered himself back down again so their lips barely brushed against each other.
The silence that followed seemed an eternity as they both enjoyed just being in each other's presence for the last time, their last moment was shared together in silence neither of them completely minding at all, as they held onto each other Natsu stronger then Lucy's gentle weakening hold. Closing her eyes Lucy took in a breath that filled her lungs painfully knowing for certain that the last fall she experienced broke many bones in her body, one of her ribs definitely punctured her lungs as her breathing made her body shake with every single breath she took.
Reaching her other hand forwards she cupped both sides of Natsu's face gently. The silence continuing as tears rolled down both of their faces. Lucy's mouth opened slightly words gently flowed out of her mouth before kissing him and closing her eyes in silence her body grew slump as Natsu held onto her, his eyes over flowed with tears, looking up he watched the black dragon perched on one of the building on the far end of the city.
Natsu's eyes have never changed as quickly then now, from a soft gentle pained expression to something so furious that his eyes glowed with the flames within him the last words of Lucy played over and over again in his head never ending. Those words will be etched into his mind for life… they will follow him on his path in life and will be there till the day he dies.
"Forever and always…
