Title: Dysphoria

Summery: Reincarnation isn't always like it is in the fanfictions. Sometimes, you end up in a body you would never expect to have ended up in. Sometimes, you end up in a body, that is completely wrong. SI OC

Sakura and Ino began dating- or dating as far as twelve-year-olds go. They hung out at the cafe, and they held hands. It was cute, and I had a good giggle with Kurenai over it.

Her uncle was a bit of a dick about it, tried to claim I had tainted her. He was mostly ignored, but he did get in trouble for trying to raise a riot. The newer generation was used to me, and they knew I was a girl. He had some backup in the form of old friends, but after he was fined for disturbing the piece, he had very little.

Naruto and Sasuke became very protective of Sakura and kept an eye on her. They even tag-teamed Ino and interrogated her. Which she turned on its head, and convinced them to go shopping. It was hilarious.

I trained my genin hard, trying to get them polished out as the chunin exams approached. I was terrified, honestly. I knew they had survived, but while everything seemed to go to script... I had a bad feeling about the exams. It was deep in my gut, bubbling up into my throat.

So I just drove them into the ground. Sometimes they ended up at my house because I'd worked them so hard they needed someone to keep an eye on them to make sure they were okay. (Concussions were a thing for them. I tried to not give them one, but it happened.) I loved it, and so did the pack. All the pups under one roof? Heaven.

Sakura being under my roof was already a huge thing, but the pack was really wanting for them all to stay. So, they plotted as the exams drew near. They used everything they could in their doggy arsenal. It was adorable, them begging, or stealing some of their things.

A few weeks before the exams Naruto cracked and moved in. Sasuke was still going strong, though, as the exams slowly began to creep on us.

"They won't give up you know," I said amused as I watched the genin spar with each other. Sakura had figured out a way to force chakra into her punches early, much to my glee. Maybe I wouldn't have to have my pups separate, other than sending her for medical training. Naruto I was hesitantly negotiating a contract for summoning for. Pakkun was all for it, but... the toads were most definitely the better option for him.

"I prefer living in the compound," Sasuke said firmly, as he dodged Sakura's punch. Naru jumped over her and tried to kick Sasuke, who avoided it by bending backward, and thus, missing Sakura's leg sweep. Sasuke bit out a curse as he rolled away from the girls.

"I know. But they will try, and try, and try. It will just keep getting funnier for us." I said, laughing. I watched the kids with a smile before a loud caw had me look up to see a crow flying overhead, in tight circles. Shit. "I'm being summoned," I said point blank. "Stop the spar- Sasuke, watch. You keep concentrating on one opponent and forgetting the others. Sakura, you are awesome, but pull back a bit more, you could have killed Naru if your fist connected. Naru- nice work, but try to get more patience." With that, I flickered away to outside the Hokage's office, entering with a lazy gait, pulling out a book. Jiraiya's Icha Icha Violence, an awesome read. However, I had a fake cover on it, making it look like some cheesy romance.

Men were idiots, thinking women read those books for the plots.

"Ah, Kakashi-san," Sarutobi said, nodding as I joined the ranks of the sensei. "As you all know, we are hosting the chunin exams this year. I would like to ask for nominations." He began reading down the list. I rolled my eyes at one sensei nominating his team and getting groans.

It was Kabuto's team, and he had made a bit of a name for himself of failing so often.

"Why hasn't he been field promoted yet?" I asked, annoyed, and interrupting the list. I knew he was connected to Orochimaru or Danzo though I couldn't fully remember how. But, why hadn't he been promoted after so many failures?

"...I don't know." his sensei looked confused, his eyes slightly glassy, and we all traded looks. The Hokage frowned, looking at us.

"Gai-san, keep an eye on the boy. Report to me later." Sarutobi ordered, and he nodded. He continued with the list, getting to me.

"I... I don't know." I fully admitted. I crossed my arms and eyed the groups around me. I had to trust my fellow sensei, which was why we nominated in front of them, and I would... even though I barely knew them well enough. "On one hand, I believe they're ready, on the other I want to hold back for a bit longer."

"They are young." agreed a sensei. His team was cobbled together from three genins who had previously gone through the exam. One of them had watched as her entire team was torn apart by the tigers in the Forest of Death. From what I heard, she still had terrible nightmares.

"But the last Uchiha would be a hit this year." another said. I rolled my eye.

"Another reason- politics. If we don't have him go now, we might look weak."

"There is also another concern," spoke up Sarutobi. "We have word from Suna they are sending Sabuka no Gaara. The container for the Ichibi." Silence fell upon the teams.

"That... that is almost declaring open war!" Asuma said, horrified. I swore under my breath.

"You need Sasuke and me then- with the Sharingan we can subdue him if needed. Or you'll need Naru."

"Can't we simply use Kakashi-san as a proctor, and not risk the genin?" asked Iruka, speaking up from where he had been writing down the names of the teams participating.

"No, it's too obvious what we would be doing," Gai spoke up, looking thoughtful, which surprised most sensei. Kurenai snorted softly.

Gai had been AnBu, and while he was loud, rambunctious and very unsubtle when he didn't have to be, he was a ninja. He was also a master at reading people- he knew more about politics than most.

"So, there is no choice," I said, my shoulders slumped. "I, Hatake Kakashi, nominate Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura for the chunin exams." I watched as Iruka wrote it down, and closed my eye.

I knew this could happen. I just hadn't wanted to face it. My genins were going to face this.

It was fucking terrifying.

I walked briskly through Konoha, heading to the ramen shop when I heard the loud argument. I turned to find my team bickering with a group of Suna genin, one holding Konohamaru in his hands. I rolled my eyes and lazily headed over, appearing below a redhead in a tree.

"You know, threatening the Hokage's grandson in the middle of the village isn't very smart," I said casually, startling the group. The boy holding Konohamaru cursed, dropping him. I eyed the boy curiously. A wrapped package was on his back, and he wore all black. "If you're here for the exam then you're out of bounds genin-chan." I purposely stressed the chan, making the boy scowl and twitch. "And, redhead-chan, please come down." I tilted my head up and gave my most smug and dickish eye smile.

Eye twitch, awesome!

"Sorry jonin-san." said the only Suna girl. She had a large fan on her back, and I eyed it as I dropped down, followed by the redhead. "We got lost."

"...That is a terrible excuse." Naru said, raising an eyebrow at the girl who scowled. I ruffled Naru's hair.

"Now, now Naru-chan, we can't blame the silly Suna-nin for making a mistake!" I made sure my voice was babyish and terrible, getting all three Suna ninja to twitch.

"I agree Sensei!" Sakura suddenly chirped up, batting her eyes. "Konoha is so strange to outsiders! They're lucky they didn't end up in the Forest of Death!"

"What with all the man-eating tigers, the giant bugs, and the giant snakes!" I agreed. Sasuke caught on and spoke up.

"But, sensei... they're not that bad!" I patted his head, as the Suna ninja stared at us in horror.

"I know Sasuke, but we go in there all the time, these cute little Suna-nin don't!"

"Why not sensei?" Naru asked, blinking, as the Suna-nin took a step back, and the kids traded confused looks.

"Because I don't think they have a Forest of Death!" We all looked at the Suna-nin, who blinked.

"Umm... we don't?" the girl said, looking terribly confused. I nodded sagely, as my cute little genins gasped dramatically.

"Then you better keep to the designated areas genin-chan!" I wagged my finger. "Not to mention you might run into the Beast!"

"The Beast?" asked the redhead, and I nodded while trying to remember who he was. Something told me he was important.

"The Beast! Oh, the Green Beast!" On cue, my genin shuddered.

"It's a terrible monster!" Sakura wailed. "It stalks you, and when you least expect it, it strikes!" I nodded.

"It has a thousand kills," I whispered in fear. "It enjoys the screams of pain, and has beaten all of our best ninja in combat!" That got the kids to shake, though not the redhead. He just looked excited. "Now, off, or you'll run into it!" They obeyed, the redhead looking terribly excited. Once they were gone, we burst into laughter.

"What was that about?!" Konohamaru demanded.

"Oh, just playing," I said, patting his head. "Simply us scaring them into staying in their areas." That clicked for the kids, and they snickered as I nodded.

"On that note, I have nominated you three for the chunin exams." The got their attention. Naru cheered, her eyes wide and happy.

"Really?! Thank you sensei!" she squealed, as Sakura bit her lip. Naru hugged me, and I gave her a hug back.

"...Are we ready sensei?" Sakura asked as the three kids protested her words, Naru and Sasuke looking at Sakura confused.

"Honestly?" I asked the three, getting nods. "I don't expect you guys to make it far. You've been in the game for barely seven months. But..." I rubbed the back of my head, sighing. "Suna is sending their jinchuuriki. We need a pair of Sharingan eyes on the field."

"...Isn't that someone with a demon sealed inside them?" Sakura asked, horrified. I nodded, as Naru went pale. I nodded.

"Konoha split up the nine demons among the villages, as a peace treaty of sorts," I explained. "Given Suna is our ally, it's not an act of war to send him here, but... it's not really seen as a good thing. More like saying 'Hey, we might be considering war'." I sighed. "Uchiha Madara was known to be able to control the Kyuubi, so having me on hand is a good idea, but if I was proctor it would look strange."

"So you have to send us in." Sasuke finished. "Add to the fact I'm the last Uchiha..."

"And not sending you in just became stupid." I agreed before I turned to the kids, who were pale. "This doesn't go past this alley, got it?" They nodded, and then scampered when I point towards the end of the alley. "Now, I want you guys to at least get to the second exam, so I have a reason to be there, alright?" I demanded. They nodded. "And Sasuke, I'm going to teach you a few tricks, alright?" He nodded, as the girls took deep breathes. "Let's go talk strategy." I led the way to the ramen stand, feeling terrible.

I felt like I was making the worst choice in my life.

I stood in the viewing room, as my fellow sensei crept in.

The viewing room was the room where the sensei all stood, waiting for their genins to complete the written test, though that test was only used every right exam. We could watch everything through a two-way mirror.

"Are you eating?" Kurenai asked me when she came in and spotted me. I looked down at the carrots I was munching and shrugged.

"Last night I let the pups choose what we had for supper." Sasuke had even stayed over, making the pack very happy. I think they were wearing him down. "I need healthy food, they got me eating junk all last night." Kurenai laughed, and sat down next to me, as we watched out teams bicker.

Kiba was somewhat set apart, but not. He looked thoughtful, as he spoke to them, Naruto glaring at him. Then Ino made a scene and jumped on Sakura, kissing her on the cheek.

"Awww." I cooed as Asuma sighed, sitting down beside us with a cigarette clamped in his teeth.

"She should be more professional." I laughed at him and turned my gaze to a silver haired boy who was blinking in confusion at them.

There he is. Kabuto. I eyed the boy, as he shook his head. Obviously, he hadn't heard about the scandal with Sakura and Ino.

Then again, it had kind of died down with the news that a Hyuuga might have gotten a brothel worker pregnant, and he had been on a mission for a while. Couldn't blame him for that.

The scent of spandex made my nose twitch, as Gai leaned over my shoulder.

"Found him?" he muttered into my ear. I nodded, tilting my head towards where he was. We watched as he approached our teams, and spoke to them for a bit. We couldn't hear anything, but we could see Shikamaru was frowning, and Naruto didn't look very confident in Kabuto. I munched on my snack, grinning at the mutters I got from an array of sensei about me not removing my mask.

As we watched, a strange group of kids attacked Kabuto, getting a yelp from his sensei- even when it was suspicious, he was still his student.

"Sorry." a silky voice said, making the hair on the back of my head stand straight up. I turned to see a black haired man smiling like a shark. He had a musical note on his headband, much like the kids who had attacked Kabuto. "My students are a little... excited for this." I frowned, eyeing the man as he smiled at us.

He seemed... strange. As I studied him, I tried to remember what exactly happened during the exam.

Someone attacked... someone with a grudge against the Leaf...

"Oh, They Are Simply Fanning the Flames of their YOUTH!" laughed Gai. The stranger didn't make the normal face of someone who was faced with Gai. Instead, he rolled his eyes.

His strange slitted eyes. I bit into a carrot, eyeing him.

Slitted eyes... that seemed familiar.

"I suppose they are." the stranger said, as he walked past us. The scent of snakes hit my nose, and I choked on my carrot, realizing who it was. I ignored Gai's pounding fist, as I stared at Orochimaru.

Oh shit. I could not believe I forgot him!

But before I could move the exams started, and all I could do was sit.

I couldn't interfere. If I did... well, a note would be added to my kid's files. They would be blacklisted from the exam for five years. I couldn't do it.

And... there was that Gaara kid... I needed to be there, to keep an eye on him.

Everything was so fucked.

"...Dammit." Sarutobi said when I told him about what I had observed of Orochimaru. "Is there any chance you might have been mistaken?"

"Most likely not," I said. "Slitted eyes, snake smell?"

"It could have been... well... it's a bit of a stretch." Sarutobi sighed deeply. "But we need to consider it."

"What is is, Hokage-sama?" I asked, standing straight.

"Not many people remember this, but Orochimaru had a daughter, Kama." the Hokage said. I jerked, eye wide in shock.

That... was not known at all.

"She was fairly young when she became a genin- five I believe. She ran off on a mission, never returned, and we declared her a missing nin, but she was simply a genin. We didn't think much of it." Sarutobi told me, shaking his head. "She was mute- but there was no sign of any sort of physical reason she could be."

"Would she have any reason to infiltrate us?" I asked, trying to keep my mind straight.

"...When we searched Orochimaru's home, we found notes on... what he did to train his daughter and a few notes about experiments on her." Sarutobi aged in front of me, his face sagging in pain. As I watched him, I realized that he had been blaming himself for years about this, about Kama's treatment at the hands of her father. He had never seen it and had left a child with a mad man.

"No one knew sir," I told him gently. I didn't like the man. I hardly respected him, but I knew that he needed to hear this. I wouldn't leave him in this pain.

"I should have. I trained her father, and left a young, mute child in his care." the Hokage shook his head, about to speak again when a chunnin busted in through the door.

"Hokage-sama! They found bodies of Grass Genin outside the Forest! Anko-senpai identified it as Orochimaru's work!"

We all shared a terrified look before the Hokage snapped out,

"Kakashi-san! Go and provide back-up for Anko! I'll send a squad after you!"

"Hai!" I said before I vanished, moving fast towards the forest.

My pups... Sasuke, Sakura, Naruto... I needed to see them, I needed to protect them. Orochimaru would not touch them as long as I breathed!

Of course, he was gone by the time I appeared. It pissed me off, as Anko cursed a blue streak.

"Did he say anything?" I asked, turning my gaze to the forest around us.

"He mentioned your team," Anko said, nodding. "I think he put the seal on the Uchiha." I closed my eyes upon hearing that, dread filling me.

"Shit." I shook my head, before turning to go to the tower. I couldn't interfere- no matter how much my mind screamed, no matter how much my heart burned, no matter that I wanted to kill Orochimaru- rip him to shreds- I wasn't allowed.

I couldn't jeopardize my pups. I couldn't risk their futures.

All I could do was wait. And pray.

Dun dun dun. Sorry for the wait everybody- life, in general, is evil.

But, here we go! I'm finished my exams, the school year is done... I've got stuff to write, but I'm looking forward to it!

And action is coming. I hope your ready everyone- we're going to get a surprise.
