Happy left his master and best friend Natsu to travel with Erza, Zira, and Haru. They were walking through a column made of crystal and ice. No one knew where Bone's was, but no one seemed worried because Bone's was a sneaky mage. Haru was holding a double blade sword with a red handle. The sword had gold lion figures covering the side of the blades. It was Haru's greatest weapon when using his magic. Zira held Erza's hand; surprisingly the S-Class mage was okay with it. And Happy was floating happily above them.
"I don't agree with your plan, teacher," Haru said spinning his sword like a baton and capturing it in his hand. " If the members of Fairy Tail were held captive this long I think they would be encased in ice. We need Natsu to thaw them out."
"They didn't use ice magic to hold them," Erza said turning her head slowly to Haru's eyes. "They are using a machine that puts them in a long sleep cycle. Their body stops moving but they are still alive, like being turned into a statue. The machine putting them in this sleep is in a black cave of crystal that cannot be broken by weapon or fire magic. That's why we need Zira's help to free them."
"Y-You need my help," Zira stuttered pointing at herself. "Why do you need me?"
" I heard from April you can use speed and sonic magic. We need your sonic voice to shatter the crystal. The machine is protected by hundreds of crystal and ice creatures that will want to stop us. We have to fight them."
"But I don't know how to fight." Zira was shaking in terror in her right hand. She grabbed her right hand and squeezed it. "See. I can't get into a fight without being afraid."
"You won't be doing any fighting," Haru laughed. "Teacher can shatter ice creatures with her power form, and we can hold off crystal creatures for you. We will protect you until you break the ice then we will break the machine…all our Fairy Tail friends will be freed—"
Haru was stopped short by a loud snorting sound in the room. It was coming from somewhere in the room. In the shadows something small was running up and down the walls.
Haru entered his fighting pose holding his blade with one hand, one side of the blade behind his back and the other side sticking out. Haru clenched his other hand for battle. Erza transformed. Her armor was replaced with a silver replacement, she still kept her blue skirt, but her sword transformed into a hammer with a sword symbol on it. Happy descended above Haru and Erza and growled at the enemies lurking behind the shadows. Zira, who wanted no part in this fight, hide behind a column. If she was more than a new recruit to Fairy Tail, Erza would scorn her.
The creatures in the shadows moved out of the shadows. They weren't ice, glass, or crystal creatures. They were looking at tiny brown furred pigs with three black stripes on their backs. Their noses were warm and pink with little snot dripping out.
" Pigs? What are pigs doing in an Ice Kingdom?" Erza gasped.
" Their adorable!" Haru exclaims. " Can we keep them, teach—"
The pigs made strange sounds moving around in a circle. They kept making the same loud noise in the same part of the ground. Suddenly, a geyser of scalding hot water erupted from the ground. The pigs fell back but got back up quickly circling the geyser. Haru's eyes widened, Nana's boyfriend Rain was standing on top of it.
" Hello, Fairy Tail." The water exploded over the floor, making the floor wet, and there was a giant hole in the ground. The pigs swarmed Rain making happy, joyous squealing noises. " Go home."
The pigs listened to Rain. Trying to run away the pigs slipped on the water. The pigs got back up and ran through a small hole in the wall. Erza and Haru were still on their guard.
" You betrayed a member of Fairy Tail's sister!" Haru shouted. " You pretended to lose her so you could use magic to put her to sleep and sell her to be a slave!"
" The only people who are that bad are crooks and Bora!" Erza shouted. " What did you use, charm magic on her?"
" You two are wrong," Rain said. " I have no intentions of branding Nana as a slave or turning her brother into my step-brother."
" Step brother?" Haru and Erza gasped in unison.
" That's right. I was once an orphan who lost his family. I only had one friend to talk to, and a heart with nothing but hate. They sensed my hatred and found me. After banishing their son Sano from their home they needed someone else to take his place."
" Sano?" Haru questioned. " I've seen Sano. His face isn't blue and he doesn't use ice magic."
Erza hit Haru on his head with her metal gauntlet. "Don't interrupt someone when they are telling a story." Haru wept rubbing his head, but Erza ignored him. "Please continue with your story."
" I am a Jinchuki. What is a Jinchuki? We are vessels for powerful spirits like a key for a Celestial, only the creatures we absorb are stronger and don't follow any contract. They stay inside us making us stronger with their magic and strength. Our anger fuels their strength. If I stay angry my Jinchuki will get stronger. But I am not angry. Not since I met…that beautiful girl at the shop."
Rain was starting to have very deep feelings about Nana that were clouding his imagination. His imagination took him to her café, sitting on the same seat and sharing a smoothie with two straws and a vanilla ice cream scoop. Nana picked scooped up the vanilla ice cream as Rain was about to eat it.
" Here—aaahm."
" Aahm."
Giggling softly, Nana looks at Rain. About to feed him the scoop of ice cream, she shoves the spoon into her own mouth, laughing at Rain's annoyed face.
Sighing softly, Rain smiles back at Nana; absorbed in his daydream when Happy's voice pulls him out of it. "I think he's reliving his daydream; let's leave while we can."
"I agree," Erza nods, beginning to walk away, when Rain grabs her upper arm. "Unhand me." She growls, looking Rain in the eyes.
Unconsciously shrinking under her gaze, Rain shakes his head, attempting to compose himself. "Look, I can't let you pass any farther." He sighs. "I can't disobey my parent's wishes, and as a part of the Rolling Stars; I can't let you take away our only hope of creating a perfect world." He says crouching slightly; prepared to attack.
"Well then," Erza says re-equipping a sword. "I assume I have no choice."
"You do, you can walk away." Rain points out.
"You don't get it." Erza says darkly, stalking towards him; sword held at her side. "I am Titania Erza of Fairy Tail, one of Fairy Tail's strongest members, and a member of the third generation of Fairy Tail." She states; appearing right before Rain, their noses almost touching. "You fiends have taken my friends, held them hostage, attacked Natsu, and made the one guild you don't want to anger angry. You will pay for your crimes."
Taking a hack at Rain, Erza growls when he easily ducks under her sword, tackling her to the ground. Rolling around on the ground, the two land punches and hits on one another. Kicking Rain off of her, Erza jumps to her feet, running towards him; both hands on the hilt of her sword. About to attack him with a battle cry, a soft, quiet voice causes Erza and Rain to both freeze and look over.
Zira, not too far away from them, looks at Rain in anger. "Sonic Boom!" she chants, clapping her hands together; causing a shockwave of noise and vibrations speed towards Rain. Unable to dodge, Rain is hit and is sent flying into one of the crystal walls; unconsciousness taking him over. About to attack him again, Zira stops when Haru grabs onto one of her hands, smiling softly.
"Why did you attack him?" Erza questions, looking down at the young girl.
"Haru told me everything." Zira confesses. "It made me mad."
"Well, thank you." Erza's lips quirk up in thanks.
"Hey," the three (including Happy) hear a familiar voice call out to them. All turning their heads, they watch as Bones walks towards them.
"Where is Natsu?" Erza questions, furious.
"And Cooro?" Haru and Zira ask.
"Fighting," Bones grumbles. "Natsu told me to come and help you. Since, you know, I'm stronger than you."
"Say that one more time Bones, and I swear I will put you out of your misery." Erza growls, her eyes blazing.
"Whatever," Bones scoffs. "I sent some creations of mine to go look for everyone else. They found them in a cage not too far from here."
"Wow Bones, that's smart." Haru grins. "And for once, you're not being a narcissistic asshol."
Ignoring Haru's last comment, Bones leads the way.
Finding no other obstacles, other than Rain, the five Fairy Tail members appear in front of a large set of doubles doors, extravagant and complicated locks decorating the outside.
"We need a key," Haru mumbles, leaning forward as he looks at a small key-hole. "Anyone know how to pick a lock?" he grins.
"No, sorry." Zira mutters.
"I have no use for picking locks." Bones scoffs.
"I haven't needed to before." Erza shakes her head.
"No." Happy shakes his head.
"Well, that presents a problem, now doesn't it?" Erza sighs.
"I have an idea!" Haru grins. "Zira, you can break down the door!"
"What?!" she cries, her eyes widening in shock. "I can't do something like that!"
"Yes you can!" Haru smiles wider, his hands now resting on her shoulders. "Do that Sonic Boom thing again!"
"You mean use my magic?" Zira questions, putting a finger to her lips. "I can try…" she trails off.
"Excellent." Erza smiles.
"Alright, here we go." Zira smiles.

"And that's the last of them," Natsu smiles as he stands on top of a large pile of unconscious and destroyed ice, glass, and crystal creatures. "Piece of cake!" he laughs, jumping down from the pile, now standing beside Cooro.
"Let's go find the others," Cooro says walking out of the room, Gia and Natsu trailing behind him. "I'd really like to go home," he sighs.
"You remind me of my partner," Natsu laughs softly. "Always complaining about how hard jobs could be, how much she wanted to go home, and the rent she needed to pay."
"Your partner was Lucy Heartfilia, right?" Cooro asks, turning his head to look at Natsu.
"She still is." Natsu smiles. "She's just – she hasn't been around for a while."
"Where'd she go?" Gia asks curiously. "She's not here with you."
"She went across the ocean with Gray on a mission the master gave 'em." Natsu explains, laughing softly. "That was three years ago…"
"That long ago?" Cooro asks surprised. "What? They take a decade quest or something?"
"No," Natsu shakes his head. "I don't know what it is," he sighs crossing his arms and looking down. "But they've been gone for a while."
"I see," Cooro nods, turning his head to look forward. 'Is this what Erza meant by I'd find out what happened to them?' he questions to himself.
"Hey kid?" Natsu asks Cooro.
"It's Cooro," the boy mutters.
"Whatever. Look, why don't you go ahead? Something caught my eye and I want to check it out. I'll catch up to the lot of you later."
"Sure," Cooro shrugs. "C'mon Gia."
"Okay." She smiles, follow Cooro down the hall way.
Watching Cooro and Gia disappear as they turn a corner, Natsu slumps against a wall, putting his hands in his pockets. Feeling something in it he hasn't felt or seen in a while, he pulls it out, revealing a blue ribbon. "Lucy…" he mutters.

Coughing, Bones and Haru slap smoke away from their face, walking into the room. "Good job, Zira!" Haru grins at her, who grins at him.
"Hello?" Erza shouts walking into the room. "Is anyone from Fairy Tail in here?"
"Erza?" she hears a familiar voice reach her ears.
"Mira?" Erza runs towards the sound, finding her and the others unharmed. "Would you like some assistance?"
"Yes please," Mira smiles.
Helping everyone out from their chains and bindings, the five rescuers stand in front of the nine captives. "You all look relatively unscathed." She nods in relief.
"You're lucky you came when you did," Levy laughs, rubbing her wrists. "A few more days and we would have been gone for sure."
"Yes, thank you Erza!" Wendy bows at the older girl, but then is pulled up by Romeo, who smiles at her.
"Where's Salamander?" Gajeel questions. "I smell him, so where's he at?"
"He said that he'd be here soon." Cooro's voice enters the conversation as he and Gia walk in the room.
"Cooro!" Zira grins at him. "Everyone is defeated?"
"Everyone but the crazy people and the Rolling Stars." Cooro nods. "We still need to get my sister back."
Hearing squealing from off to the side, everyone watches as Elfman and Lisanna furiously fan Mira, who mutters something along the lines of 'young love' and 'babies'.
"Everyone's okay?" Gia asks.
"Seems so," Bones nods, looking at everyone. "They're all present and accounted for."
"Let's go find these people and beat them up," Cana says massaging her temples. "I haven't had a drop of alcohol in months and I'm starting to lose my buzz. I feel a major hangover coming on."
"Like a real man!" Elfman shouts.
"I agree," Mira says, now revived. "I'd like to get home and see if anything has changed. I know we have a few new members."
All nodding, they begin to walk out of the room, leaving Cooro and Erza the only ones left. "Is there something the matter, Cooro?" the red head questions.
"No, it's just – I think I know what happened to Lucy and Gray." He says causing everyone to freeze and turn towards the boy.
"Oh?" Erza says softly. "What have you figured out?"
"Well, they're on a mission right? I think they took like a decade quest and haven't completed it yet." Cooro explains.
"Talking about Lu, huh?" Levy walks towards Cooro. "That's a name I haven't heard of in a long time." She smiles softly; though Cooro can tell there's a sadness in her eyes.
"Am I right?"
"Well, you're not wrong," Cana mutters.
"Lucy and Gray have, what's the right word here, been K.I.A. Does that make any sense?" Mira crouches down in front of Cooro.
"They were killed?" Zira gasps.
"That's what we believe." Erza nods solemnly, her hands clenching into fists. "They traveled to the continent of Anamal, where they took on a job requested by the Magic Council for them, and only them. Everything was going fine; we kept in contact every day, and they seemed to have everything under control. But, that's when we heard explosions and gunshots. They said they had to go, and we never heard from the again."
"What? That's it? You didn't go looking for them?" Cooro questions.
"We did," Wendy says softly. "We searched all of Anamal, but there were no bodies, there were no sign of them; other than the fact that everything was destroyed."
"Natsu didn't want to believe it." Romeo explains, sticking his hands into the pocket of his pants. "I mean, no one did. But, he took it the worst. He couldn't believe that they had died or that they were gone, so he waited for them to walk through the guild doors, smiling, having just returned from their job."
"But he couldn't get it into his idiot head that they wouldn't come back." Gajeel grumbles, crossing his arms and looking away. "That they wouldn't walk through those doors."
"But, he believed they would." Erza sighs. "He still believes they will. It's just – we know that they won't. We know that they're gone, and they're never, ever coming back." She says sadly.
"You're wrong," they all hear a voice that makes them freeze.
Turning around slowly, everyone looks at Natsu as he stands there, his bangs covering his eyes, his hands frigid and tense at his sides, and a small blue ribbon held in his right hand. "They're not gone. I know they're still out there somewhere!" he shouts, looking up at everyone, his eyes blazing.
"Natsu," Lisanna tries to explain softly, taking a step towards him. "You have to understand the facts; they're gone." She says sadly. "They have been for years…"
"No!" he shouts. "They're not! They can't be! I'll prove you wrong!"
"Natsu!" Erza booms, causing everything and everyone to go quiet. "They were killed in action. There were no sign of them anywhere. All we found was Gray's necklace and Lucy's pouch with no keys in it. They're gone! Get that into your head! They. Are. Not. Coming. Back!"
Staring at Erza, Natsu lets out a growls before he turns around and runs down the hallway, disappearing from sight.
"I'll go get him," Lisanna says attempting to run after Natsu when Cooro steps in front of her, his face impassive.
"Don't," he warns. "Just give him time."
"You speak as though you know what he's going through," Erza says looking down at Cooro.
"Yeah, something like that."

Running down the hallways, Natsu comes to a stop, breathing heavily.
Suddenly, thrown to the side into a dark corner, Natsu lays on the ground, watching as a hoard of crystal demons walk past. 'Did someone throw me in here so I wouldn't be spotted?' he asks himself.
Unexpectedly feeling a sharp pain in the left side of his face, Natsu looks up at the person who punched him across the face, finding only a shadow; one who looms over him.
"You're as oblivious as ever, aren't you Flame Brain?"
