It was one moment there and then the next moment she was waking up in a bed that she didn't recognize. It was weird, Emma hadn't really thought about what travelling to the next world entailed but she realized now that she thought they'd be knocked out for the journey. There'd be some sleeping involved…but there wasn't. At least not for her.

That must be what teleporting felt like….

Emma slowly opened her eyes and sat up. She looked around the unfamiliar room...but judging the shape of it, and the color, she knew exactly where she was. And it was a little bigger than a smaller bedroom would be

No…

Someone shifted to her left, Emma closed her eyes and begged herself to wake up before she looked over and saw the form next to her.

Mr. Gold

Emma felt her stomach lurch and she threw the covers back and raced to the bathroom. She hadn't had much of an appetite in the enchanted forest the day previous but whatever she ate emptied out into the toilet.

A look at a large diamond on her left hand made her heave for about five more minutes.

No, no, no, no, no…..

This wasn't his doing. Emma knew that it wasn't because he would never do that. He wouldn't put her through something as vile as being married to his alternate for 28 years. He would've at least told her about it if that was something he was planning and she would shut him down. That's how it would've worked.

It had to be Regina, right? But was Regina so wicked as to make a person she believed to be a man's daughter be his wife in her little 'happy ending'? Was it a bit of revenge for Emma standing up to her that day on the road?

Or did Regina know that Emma was NOT his daughter? It wouldn't be hard, Rumpelstiltskin showed her once how magical DNA tests worked, all Regina needed was a strand of her hair.

Emma flushed the toilet and backed away against the wall, staring at the ring. Rumpelstiltskin didn't prepare her for this….Regina could know that Emma wasn't exactly who she said she was. Regina might be on her tail right now. How was she supposed to avoid it for 28 years?

Maybe…maybe there was another explanation. Maybe the curse put her there. Maybe Rumple arranged it so that she could be safe and the curse just filled in the lines. That could be it? She wasn't in danger right?

She still had 28 years of looking over her shoulder in case Regina recognized her.

Emma stayed there for a few more moments before she pulled herself off the floor and grabbed a robe. Rumpelstiltskin never really saw her this undressed before….even if it was a peach cotton nightgown. Emma worried he might see way more than he bargained for in that nightgown if the backlight hit her just right.

Emma tied it tightly around herself and found her way to the kitchen. She'd only been to his house once and that was when Moe French robbed him. She'd only seen the front rooms. It wasn't hard though, their room was right across the staircase. Emma walked downstairs, into the living room and found the kitchen.

She wasn't sure she could eat a lot but she needed to put something on her stomach. Then she needed to go find Belle.

All without Regina finding out she wasn't cursed.

Emma was scrambling some eggs when she felt a pair of hands on her hips. She jumped and tried to squirm away. This was her best friend's fiancé, gross, gross, gross, gross….

"You're trying your hand at cooking, are you?" he said in the sort of amusement that she wasn't sure she'd ever heard from him. Probably had something to do with the fact that he was cursed and now everything he said to her wasn't full of hints and double meaning.

"Yeah," she said and tried to think of something she could say to give her some sort of hint on what their backstory was. She supposed she could ask but that might make her look like a complete idiot.

He kissed her cheek, "It smells lovely."

Emma turned around, having him so close was a bit uncomfortable and she wanted some space but he took her turning as an invitation to move closer and she tried not to look annoyed.

"I know that things are hard right now…," he searched her face. Emma thought she saw some genuine sincerity in there, "And I know that you're having a hard time…with the attack and coping. I also know that me taking up my father's business here is not ideal when you're used to the city, but Anna, this is a fresh start. Big fish in a small pond, we could be happy here"

Oop, there it was.

Anna? Her cursed name was Anna?

"It's just…," Emma tried to process what she heard. She'd been attacked? That was the story and the town was a family business of some sort and they'd come there for a new start? "I need…time is all."

"I know, you've always been so quiet," he told her and rubbed her arms, "Just don't shut me out."

"I won't," Emma lied and tried to give him a smile

"Try to go outside today?" He reached up and rested his hand on her face, "There's a therapist in town, maybe I could set something up?"

Emma shook her head, "No."

"He could come here."

"No, it'd just waste his time."

Something like grief passed his face, "Anna, you have to talk to someone about the baby."

Emma flinched like she'd been hit. Oh Regina, that was low. That was disgustingly low, "I'll talk to someone when I'm ready!"

It came out harsher than she intended and she saw what emotion was in his eyes leave, his walls were going up. Emma certainly knew that look, "Let's take it one step at a time, dear. Just try and get out of the house for a bit."

"Sure."

"He's locked up, he can't hurt you again."

Whoever he was, "I know."

He kissed her cheek, "I'll shower before breakfast."

"Okay," Emma whispered and looked out the window as he left. Her mind was reeling. She needed to get away and needed to think about what she was going to do to avoid this for the next 28 years.

But she really needed to find Belle.

Emma walked to the window and looked out into the distance.

She was pretty sure that she knew someone that might be able to help.
