My Love
Chapter 25
Ice Skating
Autumn Creek once again glistened in the pearly white snow. One day of a year the secret home to the Doctor where he raises his daughter quietly and safely was covered in soft snow. The large pond that the creek fed into was frozen solid.
The Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS dressed in his heavy vest and long thick jacket. His feet crunched under the snow as he stepped out.
"Hurry up Eve! This snow won't last all day!" The Doctor chuckled when Eve walked out wearing her own thick jacket and mittens. The Doctor reached over putting a scarf around her. Effectively covering her eyes and mouth. A muffled giggle and some muffled words were spoken.
"What was that? I couldn't quite make that out." The Doctor yelled over there foot steps as he led her to the pond. Two sets of ice skates on his shoulder.
"Papa I can't see!" She complained playfully. She had left Rocket near her mother so not to be cold while they went outside. She noticed Rocket didn't like the cold all too much at all.
"Alright alright here." He pulled down the scarf and chuckled at Eve whose nose was red from the cold. "Today we'll continue your ice skating lesson." The Doctor sat down to pull on his boots. Eve giggled when she sat down too pulling on her own boots. Once into the boots she took her fathers hand than helped her out onto the ice. It was a bit easier now that she had done it before. She was taking baby steps while circling closer to her father who reached out and took her hand when he felt she was about to fall. She wouldn't hold his hand for long, but by midday her skating grew very well to the point where she was actually gliding a bit instead of taking baby steps.
"Papa! Do you see?!" She giggled loudly and then suddenly fell. She giggled and stood back up. The Doctor chuckled and then noticed it just before the ice cracked. Eve fell into the water that had been melting throughout the day. The water wasn't that deep and there wasn't a current so Eve was able to bob back up to the surface. But that didn't mean the water wasn't drastically cold.
The Doctor threw off his boots and walked toward her pulling her back up out of the water. He pulled her onto his chest and slid back toward the edge of the pond. Once on solid ground he stood up looking down at his shivering daughter. Her lips were starting to turn blue.
"Stay awake Eve…keep talking. Tell me about school."
"Its…stupid." She gritted her teeth.
"Oh? Why's it stupid?" The Doctor asked walking into the TARDIS and pulled off her jacket as he walked toward the bathrooms which the TARDIS started warm water.
"Its…its stupid because the teachers think they know everything. Even when they're wrong they have to be right all the time." This sentence however took her forever to actually say through gritted teeth. The Doctor had to get her out of these cloths fast. He felt rather embarrassed as he peeled the freezing cold clothing from his daughter and then fit her into the large tub.
"Eve…you're going to have to sit up or you're going to drown."
"Papa…its hot." She tried to push herself back out of the water.
"Its not hot! Its warm you're just really really cold. You're going to have to sit in it till you get used to it again." The Doctor poured water onto her head and looked her in the eyes. She was tired he could tell. Her eyes were read and she kept blinking them fast.
"Hey…hey come one…what else?"
"Um…I hated her makeup…she always had…had the same makeup on. We thought…we thought …was tattooed on." Eve looked up at her father as he began to pour water over her again.
"Tattooed on makeup? Well that sounds like a…"
"Yes she was…and it was part of her war paint. Found her in the gym trying to eat one of the football team trying to quit because he needed to put school first rather than a game. It was only till a few months later we found out that his 'boyfriend' wanted him to quit and concentrate on school." She smiled and leaned back against her fathers knees. "He made a great omelet though. Honestly it was great. He ended up being the son of a very good cook at a restaurant his parents owned."
"Gay and a good chief. Sounds a bit familiar to me…" He chuckled and started to brush Eves hair. He then heard it again that all too familiar purr she made and didn't seem to notice she made it at all.
About an hour later the Doctor had pulled Eve from the water and helped her get dressed. Instead of heading back to the cabin the Doctor picked her up and placed her into his bed where he was able to regulate the heater.
"You have got to be tired of taking care of me while I'm sick." It was actually then that she noticed. The Doctors cheeks were red, and he too looked tired. The Doctor must have noticed what she did. He waved his hands a bit and shook his head.
"Don't worry I'll be alright. I'm just a bit cold that's all."
"Go get those wet clothes off right now!" Those harsh tones were something new to the Doctor. He watched as his daughter got up out of bed and pulled open his drawers. Which she knew she wasn't aloud to do because the Doctor liked his privacy.
"Eve don't be rude!" The Doctor barked at his daughter who just continued on with what she was doing as if she didn't hear him at all. She flung some warm night clothing at him and pointed to the bathroom.
"Go…and then its straight to bed with you sir!" She ordered. The Doctor rushed off to do what she said. Obviously she was doing this for a reason…she was determined.
A few moments later the Doctor got back into his room wearing his night clothing. To his surprise Eve had already made his medication he normally gave to her and she handed it to him.
"Alright take this and drink all of it. Don't worry I got it from your stoke already made for me." She said and handed him some hot tea with honey.
"What no jammies?" He asked with his bottom lip pocking out. Eve giggled and shook her head as she got into bed too.
"No sir…sugar can extend the time of sickness rather than hinder it…"
"Good girl."
