Frank and Darry sat in class, regarding the teacher with mild attentiveness as she babbled on in Spanish about a comment another student had made. She then got angrier as she realized that no one was paying attention. Darry sighed and turned his head away, bored.
"Darren, presta atención!" Ms. Lopez yelled.
Darry perked up and looked at her. "Lo sentimos, la Sra. Lopez."
Ms. Lopez took a deep breath and calmed down. "Ahora, vamos a hablar acerca de su proyecto." The students groaned. "Todos ustedes tendrán que escribir un informe en español sobre el mejor momento en la vida de otra persona."
She paused, looking around the room. "Socios serán: Clarissa y Rin." Causing two other students, a girl with red hair and brown eyes and a boy with brown hair and eyes, to look at each other.
"Frank y Darren." Frank looked over at the silver ranger, finding him paying the former no mind. Frank sighed. Darry wasn't the worst person to be working with, but it wasn't exactly ideal. He wanted to ask to change partners, but not while Darry was around.
Maybe after class. He thought.
~PRAA~
Valcon stood in front of Terrible. "So, you want to use my monsters to fight the rangers."
"It's the easiest way." Terrible negotiated. "How else do you suppose we could beat the rangers?"
"With your aliens, perhaps." Valcon didn't seem pleased. "I've already got the silver rangers through his mind, and I've approached him in school. All I need is him, not the others."
"Why only him? For leverage, maybe?"
Valcon sighed, exasperated. "I already told you that I don't need the others, so why would I need leverage?" He shook his head. "The silver ranger is simply one of the most powerful. He doesn't show it just yet, but if you see him fight in Mythic mode, you'll understand. I need his powers to fuel mine. After that, we can destroy the others."
"For now, while we don't have him, can you help me?" Terrible asked, not pleadingly.
Valcon sighed again, with more emphasis. "If it'll help me get back my daughter and to get the silver ranger, I'm in."
"Oh trust me, it will."
From outside the room, Lirx listened on. He pulled away and walked back to the edge of the ship, looking out down at earth.
"Riana, be careful. There's a storm coming, and the result will not be pretty."
~PRAA~
After class, Frank approached Ms. Lopez.
"La Sra. Lopez, puedo solicitar un cambio de pareja?" He asked politely.
Ms. Lopez did not look pleased. "¿Por qué? ¿Tiene un problema con Darren?"
"No, yo sólo quiero trabajar con alguien que no tengo."
Ms. Lopez sighed. "Frank, que trabajará con Darren, no hay cambios."
Frank nodded dejectedly. "Bien." He left the room. As he was walking down the hall, ready to leave as Spanish was his sixth period, Angie joined him.
"Hey. What's with the long face?" Angie asked.
"You might not want me to say this as a bad thing, but I got stuck working with Darry on our Spanish project." Frank admitted.
Angie frowned, and stopped him. "Why is that a bad thing?" She asked, suddenly defensive.
"I don't like his closed up attitude like he's always hiding something from us. Plus, the project is about writing the best time in your partner's life, and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get an F because he's not going to say anything."
Angie looked personally offended. "You don't know the first thing about Darry!" She exclaimed. "So he's got walls, so do I! Some people put them there to block out the emotions that came with the bad times in life! You might learn a thing or two with this project." She pinned him to a locker behind him. "If he opens up to you, I hope you have enough sense not to say anything to anyone else."
Frank was taken back. Angie quickly let him go and stormed off, probably in search of Darry.
~PRAA~
Cupid hid in the shadows, Lacey giving him the power to control the darkness and shadows. He shot an arrow at Rin and Clary, soon making them fall in love.
"Get the rangers!" Lacey exclaimed angrily.
"Geez." Cupid rolled his eyes, seeing Ally and Keith walking together, then shot them both with an arrow. They stopped and stared at each other for a moment and then had a loving expression in their eyes.
"Happy?" Cupid asked, looking at her with an annoyed expression.
"No. Get the rest!" Lacey said, then looking to be thoughtful. "Not green though. There are seven rangers."
~PRAA~
Frank walked down the beach near AAUO, and found who e was looking for: Darry.
"Hi." Darry greeted, not even sparing a look at the green ranger.
Frank frowned. "How did you know I was here? You didn't even look at me."
Darry shrugged. "I heard you coming." He then turned back to look at the older boy. "I'm guessing you're here for the project, given you wouldn't try to find me for any other reason."
"Can you just summarize the best part of your life? I can write it longer later." Frank requested.
Darry eyed him wearily before uttering, "Can I trust you? I mean, should I really tell you?" He asked, not unkindly.
Frank sighed in exasperation. "We fight together. We have to trust each other with our lives."
Darry nodded halfheartedly. "I guess." He sighed. "What can I say? I've never really had a best time in my life. My dad died when I was young, I ran away 'cause of my powers, and got captured by Veenom."
Frank furrowed his brow. "If you don't mind me asking, how did your dad die?"
Darry frowned. "What's it to you?"
Frank shrugged. "My dad died too. He was in the army, and he got hurt; he was scared and delirious and when the doctors came to help him, he killed them and himself. Not the best way to go." He paused. "The doctors... They were Ally's parents."
Darry looked up suddenly at Frank. "My dad was killed a hero. He went overseas in the army and was killed in cold blood. It's inspired me to want to help the community. I want to do something with my life and then settle down with the girl of my dreams and have a normal life."
"The girl of your dreams?"
Darry smiled. "I don't know who she is yet, but I'll find her."
"What about Angie?"
He shrugged. "She's amazing, but she'll never think of me as more than a brotherly figure."
Frank smiled. "If you like her, just tell her how you feel. She'll appreciate the honesty and'll probably be flattered even if she doesn't like you back. She might even go out with you."
"Is that how you got with Ally?"
Frank felt slightly offended. "What'd you mean?"
"Well, Ally likes Keith." Darry stated, matter-of-factly.
Frank was taken back. "What?"
"Yeah. You never noticed it before? The blind faith? The admiration? The will to be like him? To impress him?" Darry shrugged. "Either you're really inattentive or you're in denial." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Or you could be a love-sick puppy."
"Stop!" Frank cried. "Maybe she just wants to change a bit?" He knew it was a weak argument and also knew that Darry was right. "Okay, maybe you're right. What should I do?"
"Talk to her. I can't guarantee that what she tells you will make you happy, but it's better than living a lie."
Frank nodded. "Okay." He opened his mouth to continue when Frank's morpher beeped.
"Yeah?" Frank asked.
"Come back inside. We have a slight problem." Dr. Powers voice came through the speaker.
"We'll be right there." He put away his morpher and turned to Darry. "They need us inside."
~PRAA~
As they came inside, the first thing Frank noticed was Keith making out with Ally. He felt jealous, but pushed it away when he remembered Ally's feelings. He looked over and, to his surprise, he saw Luke and Therese doing the same thing.
"What the hell?" Darry asked, surprised at the scene before him. He saw Angelita sitting in the corner with a blindfold and a bored expression on her face. He moved closer to her, going to take off the blindfold, but Dr. Powers pulled him away. "Why is she blindfolded? Why are they making out?" He looked around. "What is going on?"
"As you know, Valcon has an interest in mythology." Dr. Powers started. "Therefore, he sent an alien based off of Cupid."
"Cupid?" Frank asked. "The one that has the arrows to make people fall in love."
"Yes. In this case, with the first person they see. However, if both people are struck at the same time, it also has the same effects. Angie was stuck by an arrow, which is why she is blindfolded at the moment."
"I told you, what I got hit with must have not been a love arrow because I didn't fall in love with anyone." Angie muttered, annoyed.
"To be safe." Dr. Powers told her. "We're not going to take it off."
Angie groaned. "What am I supposed to do if I can't see?"
Darry smirked. "Think."
Angie growled under her breath. "If I could see you, I would hit you."
Dr. Powers shook his head, then turned back to the two. "Neither of you got hit, did you?"
The two looked over themselves and each other. "No." They both said together. Suddenly, the alarm went off.
"It's Cupid." Dr. Powers told them. "Go. We'll.. handle them."
They nodded and ran out.
~PRAA~
As they arrived, they noticed the alien just sitting down on a park bench. No foot-soldiers, no generals, no nothing.
"What's going on?" Frank asked. Darry shrugged just as the alien stood up.
"Ah, the last two rangers that have not gotten hit with an arrow." He smirked. "I'm not exactly interested in pairing you two," Frank and Darry frowned in disgust. It's not that they had a problem with gays, it was the idea of the two of them. "So I wont. I do, however, have some regular arrows, and, of course, a sword." His sword appeared after he said that. He bow and arrows were on his back, slung over his shoulder.
"Ready?" Frank asked.
Darry looked at him and nodded. "Ready."
"Ancient Animals, Power Up!"
"Power of the Triceratops!"
"Power of the Haast Eagle!"
They brought out their swords and rushed at the alien as Chimera appeared. Frank darted through the Chimera and made a beeline for the alien as Darry took care of the foot-soldiers.
Darry dropped his weapon as he remembered his power. He slashed at the aliens with his serrated arms and hands, killing many of them. He grabbed the arm of one who began to attack him and held it as he punched it, making it go flying into another one.
"Who's next?" Darry asked, a fierce look in his eyes, despite that they couldn't see it.
Frank, on the other hand, wasn't having the easiest time. Then again, it never was easy.
He ducked under a punch from Cupid's free hand, and tried to slash him with his sword, but Cupid saw it beforehand and caught it on his sword. Frank was then punched in the chin on his helmet, knocking into his real chin, then causing his head to fly back in his helmet, hitting the back of the helmet, then the ground. He groaned in pain and got up shakily. He was sure he had a concussion. His vision was blurry and standing made him dizzy.
He suddenly saw Cupid bring out an arrow and was mounting it on his bow. He put up his forcefield in time to deflect the arrow... right back at Cupid. Frank laughed in success as Cupid cried out in pain. Darry came over, bringing both of his hands down on Cupid's head, finally killing the alien.
~PRAA~
As he came back to AAUO, despite the pounding pain in his head, Frank immediately made a beeline for Ally.
"You should really..." Ally started, but Frank interrupted her.
"We should break up." Frank stated, not harshly.
Ally was taken back. "What?"
"I know you like Keith, you don't have to pretend. Just go, be with him. It'll make you happier."
"Frank, I'm sor..."
"Don't say you're sorry. It'll just make it harder." Frank said sadly. "We'll always be friends, but nothing more. Not anymore."
As Frank walked away to go get checked out by Dr. Powers, Darry joined him. "So, I talked to Sra. Lopez, and we got a good grade."
"What? When?" He frowned. "I didn't do anything."
"I did. I figure it was the least I could do after saying and acting like I did." Darry answered. "And it was right after the battle. I went back to the school and handed it in early."
"Thanks." Frank said. "And, you're really not that bad."
Darry rolled his eyes. "Thanks."
