Chapter 25: Happily Ever After
Tris' POV:
"You look beautiful, Beatrice," compliments my father. The day after the ball and my engagement to Tobias, the King and Queen of Dauntless visited Abnegation to meet me, their long lost daughter. Now my mother is sitting in the front row with Tori and I am about to be given away by my dad and become Queen of Abnegation, uniting the two kingdoms.
Eric and Peter were thawed out in prison and revealed Jeanine's entire plan to conquer the five kingdoms and rule the world. It turns out that Jeanine wanted to kill me so there would be no heir to the Dauntless throne. She had an alliance with Candor and with Tobias seemingly gone, she just needed to kill me and revolt against Amity to have all the kingdoms bowing down to her. She didn't know about my powers until I used them at the ball.
After the discovery of Jeanine's plans, the rulers of Candor and Amity agreed with Tobias and my parents to overthrow Jeanine and replace her with Cara, Will's older sister, and as we later found out, Caleb's girlfriend. They have both been spying on Jeanine for years to try and revolt against her rule in Erudite. Caleb was angry at Jeanine for taking him away from his home to become her heir since she couldn't have children, and Cara wanted revenge for Jeanine's guards killing her parents unprovoked.
The music starts from around the corner and my friends begin the procession. Shauna, Marlene, and Lynn are my bridesmaids while Christina is my maid of honor. On their arms are Zeke, Uriah, Jack, and Will, Tobias' best man and groomsmen. Sammy is the ring bearer and Ella is the flower girl. They were both so adorably excited when I asked them to be in the procession.
Finally, my father and I round the corner, my pearl white dress trailing behind me. The aisle is extremely long since royal weddings don't happen very often, and the music drags on as I so very slowly inch closer to Tobias with each beat. Cam, Penny, and Wendy wave at me from the front row, making me chuckle, and at long last I reach Tobias. The ceremony flies by after I take his hand and we step in front of the officiator together. After we've said our vows and kiss, I try to wrap my head around the thought that we are married. On our way to the reception I am so insanely happy. I can't wait to get used to the idea of spending the rest of my life with Tobias, and making the world a better place as king and queen.
Tobias' POV:
Tris looks stunning. Her eyes sparkle and her long hair is curled so that it perfectly frames her face. We spend time with our friends at the reception and dance late into the evening. We laugh when we spot Cam and Sammy take turns dancing with Ella and tease Jack for his flirting with a girl in a servant uniform.
We are informed that before the guests leave the palace, it is tradition for the married couple to have one more dance together, so I lead Tris to the center of the ballroom. The violins begin the song and I am twirling Tris around the dance floor when I hear delighted gasps from everyone watching. I am too focused on Tris' gaze to notice the trail of thin sparkling ice appear on the floor wherever the back edge of her dress trails on the floor. The violin music slows and my foot suddenly slips on ice and in the blink of an eye, I am in Tris' arms. She caught me so that it looks like she dipped me.
I chuckle at her victorious, smug expression. "What was that for?"
"The bride can dip her groom if she pleases. Do you have a problem with that?" Tris smirks.
"Never."
I stand and kiss her, and I know we will live happily ever after.
The End.
