Chapter 24: Time's Up! Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon
"And just what the hell is so funny?" Jonouchi retorted, as Keith chuckled.
"Kid, have you ever played to the limits of your abilities?" Keith asked.
"To my limits?" Jonouchi echoed.
"I'm asking you if you've even seen Hell." Keith snapped. "At night, experiencing the bitter taste of misery and despair. The exit to my personal Hell is where Pegasus is. And to get out, I'll use whatever means I can. It's what I learnt from Hell itself."
"How pathetic." Jonouchi snorted. "Just who do you think you are? Despair, revenge; it's not that I don't understand. You seem to have forgotten the most important thing to living. It's really a shame. If Pegasus is causing you so many problems, why don't I just defeat you here? It's your turn."
"Screw you." Keith snapped. "I'll place a card and fight with this. I'll give you a taste of Hells brand of gambling. Each of the three gun cannons attached to the 'Revolving Dragon' has a one-to-two chance to go off. Go, 'Revolver Dragon'. 'Gun Cannon Shot'. Each of 'Revolver Dragon's gun cannons has an attack strength of 2600." He explained, 'Revolver Dragon' taking out 'Axe Raider' and 'Garoozis'. Kid, it's pretty damn difficult for you to get away from this one."
"Interesting." Jonouchi admitted. "In that case, I'm going to fight with this card. The 'Time Magician'. A gamble for a gamble. That isn't the only card I'm going to play. It's your turn, 'Baby Dragon'. With this combo, the 'Time Magician' will transform this into the 'Thousand Year Dragon'. It'll get stronger and stomp all over your Machine monsters. Here I go! 'Time Roulette'! Go get them!" he gave the 'Thousand Year Dragon' the order to attack. "'Thousand Nose Breath'. Alright, 'Revolver Dragon' has been destroyed."
"Oh, really?" Keith snorted. "I should have told you. I put the ultimate Machine card in my deck. Trap Card, activate, 'Time Machine'. Go, 'Gun Cannon Shot'." he revived 'Revolver Dragon'. "This Trap Card goes like this," he explained, his monster taking out 'Thousand Year Dragon'. "When one of my monsters is destroyed by an opponent's attack, the 'Time Machine' can call the same monster from one turn earlier, and counter-attack. Thanks to your battle with Kotsuzuka, I know what the rest of your monsters are. Even if you play your heart out, you still have a deck of a complete amateur. Now, play a monster. I'll show you just how powerful my ultimate Machine deck is."
"I'll play a monster in defense mode and end my turn." Jonouchi played his turn.
"If you're going to do that, I'll play one more monster in attack mode." Keith took his turn. "And now, my 'Revolver Dragon' will attack your defending monster. Disappear, small fry."
"I will place a card." Jonouchi took his turn. "And I'll play 'Red Eyes Black Dragon' in attack mode. My turn's over."
"Even if that is the most powerful card in your deck, it's still no match for my 'Revolver Dragon'." Keith reminded. "I'll destroy it just like you're asking. 'Revolver Dragon', attack 'Red Eyes'."
"Alright." Jonouchi grinned. "Placed card, open. My placed card is the 'Mimic' Card. I'll copy one of your cards that was discarded from play. The card I'm going to copy is 'Metal Force'. 'Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon'. Counter-attack, 'Dark Mega Flare'. 'Revolver Dragon' has been defeated. Bandit Keith, if beating the crap out of you is a coincidence or a miracle, I don't care."
"You've only stayed alive for the time being." Keith shrugged. "I still have more tactics for winning. I'll show you that, no matter how hard you try, an amateur has no chance of defeating me. What will determine the final victor is the difference in our skills."
"Huh?" Jonouchi echoed. "The difference in your skills? But your 'Life Points' are lower than mine."
"Screw you!" Keith snapped. "It's my turn. I'll place a card and put the 'Slot Machine' in defense mode and end my turn."
"My turn." Jonouchi declared. "I'll also place a card and attack the 'Slot Machine'. 'Dark Mega Flare'."
"Then I'll use my placed card." Keith countered. "'7 Card'. This card is a power unit that increases 'Slot Machine's defense strength." He explained, 'Black Metal Dragon's attack was deflected. With this, the 'Slot Machine's defense strength has increased by 700, to 3000. 'Red Eyes' attack strength is lower. And now it's my turn. On the 'Slot Machine', up to three '7 Cards' can be attached and I can choose to increase either its attack or defense strength. On this turn, I'll use the second '7 Card'. This time, its attack strength will be increased by 700. And I'll play this card. 'Sphere Bomb'. On your next turn, it will explode with an attack strength of 2900." He added, the bomb having attached itself onto 'Black Metal Dragon'. My turn's over. Time's up, kid. Suck on that, fool." He grinned, the bomb exploding. "What the hell?" he gaped when the smoke cleared to reveal an unscathed 'Black Metal Dragon'.
"Phew, that was close." Jonouchi remarked. "I was saved, thanks to this." he revealed the activated equipment card.
"That means my 'Life Points' are reduced." Keith realized.
"My turn's over." Jonouchi declared.
"In that case, I'll attach another '7 Card' during my turn." Keith played his card. "Attack strength increased. If you are not going to do anything, I'm going to take my turn." He remarked, Jonouchi drawing a card and placing it face-down. "Kid, I've really got to hand it to you for lasting this long. But now you're done for. Take a look at this card. The 'Bandit'. The 'Bandit' Card allows me to look at my opponent's hand and steal one card. Statistics change?" he spotted the 'Shield and Sword' card. "You have a good card. I'll take this one. Now it's over, kid. 'Shield in the Right Hand, Sword in the Left Hand'. 'Slot Machine', attack mode. 'Plasma Laser Cannon'."
"Placed card open." Jonouchi countered.
"It's useless." Keith retorted. "Fire! What?" his victory was short-lived when Jonouchi activated the 'Graverobber' card.
"I didn't realize stealing would be the key to winning." Jonouchi snorted, using 'Time Machine' to bring back 'Black Metal Dragon'. "Chew on this! 'Dark Mega Flare'."
"Impossible." Keith was stunned when 'Slot Machine' was destroyed. "How could I lose to that kid? This duel is invalid!" he protested once Jonouchi was declared the victor. "The entrance card that he showed wasn't his. In that case, he should've been disqualified from this duel."
"That's right." Jonouchi confirmed. "I couldn't find my card anywhere. This is the card of hope that I got from Mai. But, how did you know that this card wasn't mine? That's strange. Answer me. How did you know it wasn't mine?"
"The answer is quite simple." Pegasus cut in. "Bandit Keith, you stole Jonouchi's card. There's no way I'd willingly give cards as that to people like you. And since I cannot allow something such as that, I must declare this duel unfair. Keith, you took those '7 Cards' from your wristband and put them in your hand. I saw it with my own eyes, so you cannot claim innocence. Remove him from my Kingdom."
"Let me go!" Keith demanded, struggling against the guards heaving him off. "Get your hands off me. Shit, Pegasus! You won't get away with this! Pegasus!" he roared, fighting off the guards to return to the duelling ring.
"You're quite the persistent one." Pegasus remarked calmly as Keith levelled a gun at him.
"Give me the prize money right now, or I'll take your life." Keith demanded.
"Since you're only here to gain the prize money, you've already lost your heart as a duelist." Pegasus lectured.
"Stop screwing around." Keith retorted. "Where's the prize money?"
"Small fry, begone." Pegasus declared, stepping on a hidden button on the ground to open a trap door around his chair and causing Keith to fall into a tunnel leading out to the cliff side and into the ocean.
