*~~*Chapter 20: Welcome Back: Kotone's Viewpoint*~~*
The hallway eventually became the marble throne room where Silver and Green had found me as I travelled back to the beast's mouth. With a heavy breath and a gulp, I tried to calm the fire in my gut.
"Proton!" I cupped my hands over my mouth as I summoned the insane man. "Where are you, you insolent fool?!"
"Right here, Ms. Kotone."
I spun around to find him leaning in the doorway with a dark smirk on his pale face. I blinked in surprise before returning to a commanding pose. With a clear of my throat, I tried to follow the plan.
"About time, Proton! I'll have you know that I had to escape my captor single-handedly and travel all the way back to my throne on foot!" He simply smirked as I went on, "You and your worthless grunts should have been in that worthless New Bark Town days ago!"
Suddenly, Proton burst into laughter.
I gulped as he lifted himself from the wall and stalked closer. He drew a sharp breath as he finished and smirked deviously. "Nice try, Ms. Kotone, but I'm afraid I'm already aware of your little plan."
"Wh-what?!" A bolt of fear raced through my veins as he simply reached for his belt. "What are you—"
"Next time," He unclipped a Pokéball and twirled it on his finger. "Don't discuss your little plans right next to one of our security cameras."
I gulped as he then hurled the Pokéball into the air. The device burst open with a flash of white light and a yellow form landed with a thunderous rumble on the floor. My eyes grew wide as I took a few steps back. The Psychic Pokémon grinned a evil smirk to match his trainer as I found myself facing the worst-case scenario head-on.
"Alakazam," Proton lazily waved the Pokémon on with a bored expression. "Go call our little Queen, would you?"
"Ala..." The Pokémon thrusted his spoons out with a rumble. I shrieked as a slam resonated through the room. With a look of utter horror I found the only way out sealing us in. I turned back to find the Pokémon lifting a single spoon towards me.
"Now," Proton grinned and waltzed towards the nearest corner. "Go ahead and find us our leader, Alakazam."
"Ala!" With a blast of Psychic energy, I was hurled headfirst into the nearest wall. The air raced out of my lungs as the edge of my vision grew black. I struggled to push myself off of the wall with a grunt of pain, but the Pokémon simply peeled my off and hurled me across the room once again.
The last thing I remember was hitting the wall directly under the portrait and feeling as if I couldn't even breathe.
I opened my eyes to find myself resting on my golden throne with Proton standing before me. I narrowed my eyes as I looked around the room. Several signs of a battle were present in the craters on the walls, ripped carpet and odd splots on the floor. I let out a small grunt of disgust before motioning towards the pathetic excuse for an advisor before me.
"Proton, tell me right now why my throne room is an absolute mess."
"Your Majesty," He gave me a bow with his hat resting against his chest. He slowly rose to his feet and smiled that toothy grin of his. "A battle was held here shortly before your arrival. I'll be sure to clean this place until it's absolutely flawless."
"As in, you clean the room, Proton?" I raised an eyebrow as he nodded.
"Yes, your highness. I'll be sure to—" He stopped as he realized his slip of the tongue. I just chuckled and waved him off.
"Hurry and fetch the mop, Proton. I don't want any blood spots on my marble floors, thank you." He let out a sigh of defeat and headed for the door. About halfway there he spun around with a frantic look in his eyes.
"Ah! Your Majesty! I forgot to tell you that the traitor and the black-haired boy are in the base!"
At this, I slammed my fist on the arm of the throne.
"Darn you, Proton!" The teal-haired man flinched at my voice as I leaped from my seat. "Why wouldn't you tell me that beforehand?!" He opened his mouth to speak before I cut him off. "Well, where are they?!"
"I-I'm not sure, your Majesty!" He cringed as he covered his face with his arms. "The last I saw of them, they were heading deeper into the base!"
"Ugh!" I threw my hands into the air before searching for my belt. I soon found it across my hips and pulled two Pokéballs off of the black strip. I hurled the devices into the air with a frown as Proton slowly rose to his full height.
Espeon and Umbreon landed with quiet growls, the creatures already looking around with narrowed eyes. I snapped my fingers with a glare and the beasts looked back to me with total obedience.
"Find the traitor."
They nodded before they dashed out the hidden door in the wooden exit, leaving me alone with a pathetic man. Proton opened his mouth to add something but I shot him a glare to silence him. With a quiet nod, he slipped out the door.
I let out a sigh once the room was empty and flopped back into my seat. With a quick glance over my shoulder, I glared at the weak boy in the portrait.
"You'll get what you deserve shortly, little boy."
