Steve had finally made his way home and had slept for most of the following evening. The next morning he was up early and had gone out for his run. He returned to his beach side home and was surprised to see the door open. Picking up a large plant pot from outside the door, he edged closer to the door and crept in quietly. Keeping the pot raised high he edged into the house. He was about to raise the plant pot to attack the intruder.
"Hey brah. Time for gardening?" Kamekona appeared from the kitchen.
"I could have killed you. What are you doing here?" Steve asked him.
"I needed to talk to you brah."
"Okay, I am here. Talk." Steve went to his refrigerator and pulled out a cold bottle of water. Taking a sip he sat down opposite Kamekona.
"Word on the street is that Uncle D knows you took his money and drugs from his house. He is gonna come looking for you."
"I hope so." Steve said.
"You want him to find you?"
"Someone like him doesn't leave a trail that is easy to follow so the next best thing is to get him to follow a trail himself. He wants his cash, I know where it is."
"That's suicide man." Kamekona said.
"Have faith in my team man." Steve said. "As soon as Uncle D pokes his head up, we will be there."

Danny had finally had a decent night sleep. The hospital is a busy and noisy place and for some reason it was worse at night. He had been incredibly tired but had been unable to sleep no matter how hard he tried. The pain was getting just bearable thanks to a steady stream of morphine. Of course it was an added bonus that the pretty nurses administered it. It sure did help Danny feel better to see them.
"Morning detective." Nurse Anna said as she walked in.
"Anna, I have told you before, call me Danny. Sounds better."
"Okay…Danny." She said. She put down the breakfast tray and took off the cover.
"Yum, crispy bacon." Danny smiled looking over the cooked eggs, bacon and full works in front of him.
" Enjoy." She said. "Oh and I made sure they gave you an extra pot of coffee, you said you liked it."
"You are too good to me." Danny winced slightly.
"Do you need more pain killers?" Anna asked him.
"Not really, it comes and goes." Danny said. Anna looked at her watch.
"Well you are due your medication soon, so it should help." She stepped closer to Danny. "If it doesn't, let someone know. You have a lot of healing to do."
"Yes mother." Danny smiled. Anna headed back to the nurses station. Unknown to Anna and the nurses on the ward, Uncle D had followed a male nurse into the restroom. The nurse headed to the stall, but he didn't get far. Uncle D approached him from behind and put an arm around his neck. In a soft but effective move, the nurse soon fell to the floor unconscious. Uncle D wasted no time in stripped the uniform off the young man and putting it on himself. He removed the name badge and hung the stethoscope around his neck to finish the effect. He casually walked out of the restroom and towards a desk that help folders. He easily blended into the background of busy nurses. He took a chance and glanced up at the board behind the nurses station. A list of who was in each room was clear to see. He found the name he was looking for and took note of the room number. The nurse behind the desk looked up to him.
"And you are?" She asked him.
"Julian, from the ER. They asked me to come up and give a hand. " He casually said.
"Mr Kadil in Room 16 is waiting for his insulin shot. Medication cabinet is there."She said pointing to a small cabinet.
"Sure." He said. He glided over and opened the cabinet. He mulled about, looking at the small vials and bottles. Taking a few, he headed off down the hallway. Walking past room 16, he made his way to room 20. He peered through the glass of the door and saw a blonde man sat up in bed. The folder in the holder by the door said Danny Williams. This was him.
"Time for your medication Mr Williams" He said walking into the room.
"My pain killers, that was fast." Danny said. He handed Danny a few tablets and the detective looked at them. "Are these pain killers? They look different."
"Yeah, new batch still the same ol tablets." Uncle D handed Danny a glass of water and he took the tablets.
"I'll take your word for it." Danny said. Uncle D quietly left the room but didn't go far. He stood and the window and watched.

Steve got out of his truck after he pulled it into a parking spot in the hospital parking lot. His phone rang and he pulled it from his pocket. It was Chin.
"I just pulled up. Gonna see how our happy camper is today." Steve said.
"My guess would be bored." Chin said.
"I am glad you called. Had a visit from Kamekona this morning. He has heard that Uncle D is slightly annoyed that we have his riches. Seems he might try and come after me."
"Are we surprised by that?"
"No. He will find a way of coming to look for it. We have to be ready for him. I am gonna have a word with hospital security."
"You think he will go for Danny?"
"Maybe. I just want to be sure I have covered all bases." Steve said.
"He hasn't returned to his apartment, but I have kept the crews out there in case he does happen to pop by." Chin explained.
"He is staying somewhere and something is telling me he isn't far from his place. Check local B and Bs and hotels to see if he has checked in. I am going to pay Shane another visit when I leave here. See if he feels like helping us further."
"You really think he will?"
"No, but I got him to talk last time, I am sure I can do it again." Steve said. He said goodbye to Chin and headed to Danny's room. As he walked into Danny's room he was surprised to see his bed empty. He peered into the bathroom but no one was in there. He headed back out and towards the nurses station.
"Where is Danny?" He asked Anna. Anna looked up at him.
"In his room." She replied.
"That is where I have come from. He isn't in there." Steve said. Anna grabbed a folder from a rack near her and started flipping through it.
"He isn't scheduled for any tests or anything and I haven't seen him leave his room. He should be there." She looked shocked.
"Could he have gone for a walk?" Steve asked.
"Maybe, but he would need some help to move." Anna said. Steve looked up and glanced around him. The ward was quiet, most of the patients were recovering from trauma and surgery. A figure down the end of the corridor caught his eye. A male nurse with flashy sneakers was pushing someone in a wheel chair. Steve was intrigued, something about the man felt off. He took a second to look at the scene. The man in the chair looked like he was slumped down, as if he wasn't conscious. But it was the blond hair on the man that caught his attention.
"Danny?!" He called.
The man looked up, noticing Steve, he wasted no time in rushing to the elevator. Steve was just as quick and pulled out his gun. "Stop!" Before he could get the perfect angle for a shot, the male nurse wheeled the wheelchair around. Steve was shocked to see Danny slumped down in the chair. The man had a gun in his hand. He pulled the chair back and stepped into the open elevator. "Wait!" Steve ran to the elevator.
"Catch you later." Smiled the man as the door closed.
Steve watched in horror as his partner and friend disappeared.
