Chapter 25
The rain continued to pour and it kept getting heavier and heavier. Ari searched for hs daughters and friends as long as he could.
"Jacie! Kivuli! Where are you?!" The king grew worried about what might have happened to his daughters and pride members.
"Ari!" Ari turned around to see his queen running towards him.
"Imani, go back to the cave." Ari said.
"I'm not about to let you get yourself hurt looking for our daughters." Imani said.
"Well I'm not about to let you risk your life out here in this storm." Ari said. Imani looked at him.
"Ari, I love you but I'm not going to sit back while you look alone." The queen said. Ari looked his wife for a long minute.
"I don't want you to get hurt." Ari said.
"A mothers love is stronger than anything." Imani said.
She broke her gaze away from Ari and roared as loud as she could. The rain got harder and the lightening struck over and over. The King and Queen searched for as long as they could. They returned home hours later. Kondo ran up to Imani and looked right in her eyes.
"Where's my mommy?" He asked sadly.
"She'll be home soon." Imani said. A flash of lightening struck along with a loud clap of thunder. Kondo got scared and ran to Imani's legs.
"I'm scared. I want my momma." The young cub shook. Imani bent down to Kondo and smiled at him.
"Mom will be here. Come on. Let's all go to sleep." The queen said.
The pride settled for the night but Imani remained awake. She stood at the caves entrance and stared out into the flooded savannah.
"Imani, come to bed." Ari said.
"How can I sleep knowing that my cubs are out there somewhere? And not only my cubs but my best friend and a cub that should be here with his mother." Imani said.
Tears began to flood the queen's eyes. Ari pulled his queen close to him.
"Imani, they're not cubs anymore. And I know its scary to think that they're out there. But think of the positives." Ari said.
"What positives?" Imani asked.
"Simba might stubble upon one of them." He said. Imani's eyes immediatly went to Ari's face.
"Simba? Ari, we are so far from the Pride Lands I doubt it." Imani said.
"I don't." Ari said.
"And why is that?" Imani asked.
"Because Simba is a wanderer. He's been places no pride lander would dare go. Not only that he's a father with a father guiding him." Ari explained.
"Mufasa." Imani said. Ari's head snapped towards her.
"You know about Mufasa?" Ari asked.
"Just because I was kidnapped as a cub doesn't mean I wasn't taught anything." Imani said.
"It sure doesn't." Ari said.
