Chapter Twenty-Five

A/N: Hey guys! Here's the next chapter...this is going to be the last one for a few weeks as i am going overseas on holiday and won't have much internet access. Hope you enjoy the chapter thanks for sticking with the story!

Yetta's POV

A few days later I drive into Mystic fall and come to a stop in front of a restaurant called the Grill, night is starting to fall and the parking lot is almost full indicating it as a hub for town activity and as good a place as any to start my business here. I park my car, walk into the restaurant and scan the sea of people for the vampires I sensed the moment I stepped through the door.

"Who are you?" A voice asks from behind me and I spin around to see a tall man with messy brown hair looking intently at me with a flirtatious smirk on his face.

"Damon Salvatore. I've heard a lot about you." I say.

"Well I haven't heard a thing about you." he says smirk still firmly in place.

"That's precisely how I like it." I say pushing past him and taking a seat at the bar. "Macallan 25, double shot on the rocks and can I have a menu please?"

"Coming right up." the bartender whose nametag identifies her as Miranda says.

"Thank-you" I say smiling at her as she leaves to get my drink.

"Can I buy you a drink?" Damon asks coming to sit on the stool next to me.

"No thanks I'm quite capable of buying my own." I say.

"Perhaps you'd be willing to join me for a game of darts or snooker then?" he says.

"If it's all the same to you, I've been on the road for days and all I want to do is have a drink a bite to eat and crawl into bed for some well needed rest." I say.

"Do you have a place to stay?" he asks.

"I was gonna check into a motel after I finish up here." I say.

"There's no need for that. Come stay with me, I have plenty of rooms and it's only my brother and I in the house so you're welcome to one for as long as you need it." he says with a smile.

"Thanks. I just might take you up your offer." I respond with a smile. "Tell me how much do you charge per night

"We can negotiate that when you pick a room." he says.

"I'll see you there in a few hours." I say picking up my glass and walking over to a table by the window.

"Don't you need an address?" Damon calls after me.

"You live in the Salvatore boarding house right?" I ask.

"Yeah." he replies.

"Then no, I don't need the address. I know exactly where it is." I say.

"How is it that you know so much about me and I know nothing about you?" he asks walking up to me and laying a hand gently on my shoulder.

"I did some research before coming into town. Call me paranoid but I'm not the type to visit a place with a history as colourful as Mystic Falls without doing some fairly extensive research beforehand." I say.

"What history would you be referring?" he asks.

"The founding families, vampires, werewolves and the adventures one Katerina Petrova had in this very town back in 1864. I know what you are Damon and rest assured I have no interest in being your next blood bag." I whisper into his ear. "So if it's all the same to you I think I'll go back to my original plan of finding my own accommodation for the duration of my stay but I do thank you for your offer of hospitality" I continue before draining my glass, setting it down on the table and walking back outside to my car. Before I reach it however I hear him come speeding up behind me I spin and grab him by the arm slamming him into the ground mere seconds before he clamps his teeth down on my neck. "Didn't anyone ever teach you that it's rude to sneak up on a lady?"

"You-you're a vampire?" he asks once he's recovered

"For many years now. I'm surprised you didn't pick up on it. I sensed you the moment I stepped into that restaurant." I say.

"And I see you've discovered the secret to day walking." he continues gesturing to my ring. "I wonder how you would fare if I were to take it from you." he adds reaching out and pulling it off my finger.

"Drop it or I'll rip your head off." I snarl grabbing him by the throat and squeezing until he starts to go red in the face. "I'm not messing around Damon, I have absolutely no problem with slaughtering you right here in the middle of town." I add bringing my other hand up behind his head to emphasize my point.

He glares at me before finally loosening his hold on my ring allowing it to drop to the ground beside him. I follow suit loosening my hold on his neck, allowing him to fall to the ground gasping for air.

"I'm older than you Damon, and in case you've forgotten your vampire lore that means I'm stronger so perhaps you ought to show me at least a little respect." I say softly. Picking up my ring and replacing it on my finger I make my way over to my car, I click the little button on the key to unlock it before climbing in and driving away from the grill leaving Damon staring after me with a somewhat dumbfounded look on his face.

Rebekahs POV

"This is pointless! We've been searching for almost a week now and have absolutely nothing to show for it." I groan after yet another fruitless search for any sign or trace of where Yetta may have gone to.

"I thought you were exaggerating when you said she could disappear without a trace when she wants to. But now I'm starting to think you may be right." Hayley comments.

"Oh really? And what alerted you to that fact? Was it perhaps the fact that this whole trip has been a colossal waste of time?" I ask glaring at her.

"You don't have to be a bitch about it! I wanna find her just as much as you do." she says.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you it's just frustrating. I want to find her and it's proving to be near impossible to do so." I say with a sigh.

"It's ok, don't worry about it. I want to find her too." she says.

"Come on, let's just go cut our losses and go back to New Orleans. I'm sure you're missing Hope and Klaus is probably getting suspicious about where we are, the 'they're at the spa' excuse won't hold up indefinitely and we're probably already pushing it with being away for five days." I say.

"Are you sure?" she questions.

"No I'm not sure, but I do think that it's our best course of action, we don't want to incur the wrath of Klaus as well as not finding Yetta so since we can't accomplish the latter we should at least attempt to keep his wrath at bay." I begin. "Plus it's probably about time we told him Yetta's gone."

"Is that really a good idea? Telling him she's gone." she asks.

"I don't know if it's a good idea or not." I respond. "But I do know it would be better for us to tell him than for him to find out through some other source."

"How would he find out from some other source? We're the only ones who know she's gone." Hayley points out.

"Yes, but my brother has an uncanny knack for finding out things we didn't think it possible for him to find out." I explain.

"I really can't stand the thought of Caroline being a part of Hopes life for all eternity. Why did he have to be intrigued by HER of all people? She's such a whiny little bitch" she begins "The only reason I put up with her in Mystic was because she was helping distract him so we could get the hybrids to break their sire bond to Klaus. Which in hindsight was a mistake because they all ended up getting killed anyway."

"I just can't believe Niklaus hasn't seen through her fake smile yet, he's usually pretty good at picking up on that kind of thing but not with her for some reason." I say.

"Probably for the same reason that he's oblivious to the fact that Yetta's in love with him." she comments.

"I should have just compelled her to admit her feelings for him then none of this would be happening, they'd be together and Caroline wouldn't be on her way to New Orleans to take advantage of him." I say.

"You can't compel her she's on vervain." she points out. "She drinks it every day."

"Shit I forgot about that." I say.

"I don't know how she can stand drinking it, I tried a couple of times and couldn't keep it down." she says.

"I don't either, but she kinda had more motivation than most to start drinking it. The first time Mikael found us after she was turned he compelled her to try kill Klaus." I explain.

"Wow. I don't even know what to say to that. I mean she obviously failed or she wouldn't be here today but did she try?" she asks.

"Oh she tried, she definitely tried. She fought against it as hard as she couldn't fight it indefinitely and she had to try and kill him." I say.

"Well she obviously lived to tell about it." she says "I doubt there would be many people who can attempt to kill him and live to tell about it."

"Not many know but there are a few. She's the only one that he didn't want to kill though, the others got to live because they made a deal with him. He never even thought about killing her though he knew there was something wrong the moment he saw her that day, so instead of killing her when she tried to kill him he snapped her neck and helped her fight the compulsion." I say.

"How did she fight it?" she asks.

"She loved him and she would never willingly bring harm to him, he knew that. I don't know exactly how they managed to break through Mikaels compulsion but I'm sure her love for him had something to do with it, plus the two of them are similar in a lot of ways, they think alike. So they went away together for a few days and when they came back she was compulsion free and sipping vervain, she's been drinking it ever since." I tell her.

"Oh so that's why she started consuming it, I wondered why she took it, I mean none of you three would compel her to do anything she didn't want to right?" she asks.

"No we wouldn't. Elijah's probably thought about it once or twice over the centuries but I don't think he'd ever really do it." I say.

"I don't think Klaus would be very impressed if he did." she says.

"Klaus definitely wouldn't be impressed if Elijah were to compel Yetta. He might not be ready to admit that he's in love with her yet, but he would not take kindly to anyone trying to mess with her free will like Mikael did." I say.
