Gabby woke up in the morning, tired because she hadn't been able to sleep because of the test in two days and Matt was still asleep. Slowly she got out of bed to get her training clothes and her running shoes to run a round to train for the test and Matt turned around, woke up as well.
''Are you going to run for the test?'' He asked and she nodded, undressing and dressing to her running clothes and sitting down to tie her shoes when he laid his arms around her.
''I am going to run with you so we can train together…you are running by the lake, right?'' He said with a smile and she smiled because she knew it was his favorite route. She liked that he was going to run with her because he always got the best out of her and he got up out of bed, looking at the cast around his arm, happily remembering that it would be off on the same day that she had her test and he would finally be able to get back to work.
He got dressed as well and she pointed at the cast.
''Are you sure you can run with me?''
''Yes, there is nothing wrong with my legs.''
They took the bus downtown and got out at the large walkway by the lake and they started running. Matt was running a little slower for Gabby but he was not running much slower as she was fast and he hadn't been running the last few weeks. She was running very fast and she hoped that something stupid like falling would not ruin the test for her this time because she had trained so hard and she was sure he could do it, he didn't want to see her sad again. She deserved it after all she had been through and fought for.
''I am so nervous for the test.'' Gabby complained and Matt stopped running. Gabby stopped as well and looked at him as they stopped next to the lake and he looked over the water.
''You are going to do it, I am sure.'' He said, laying his arm around her and kissing on her temple and she smiled, looking over the water as well. She hoped that she would do it but deep down inside she also knew that Matt was so worried about her and that he maybe even hoped that she wouldn't do it and she knew it was out of love, but it made her doubt too. Maybe he was right, especially after her treatment and her PTSD and she was finally feeling better now and she afraid to risk it all again, especially now she was so good with Matt again and their love was just as big as it was before.
Worried Matt cupped her face in his hands and she looked at him.
''What are you so worried about? You are going to do just great, I am sure.'' Matt said and he kissed her on her forehead and she shrugged now.
''I am not sure anymore Matt. I wanted to be a firefighter but I am scared that I am indeed going to get scared again and that nightmares will come back after a bad shift and that worried me because I am afraid that if I get worse again, I will lose you. That we will fight again and then lose you.'' Gabby admitted. ''But I do want to do it, prove to myself that I can do it and I will regret if I don't do the test because I trained so long and it really was a dream. ''
''I get it, I do. I just wish that you choose what is best for you and whatever that is, I will accept it and support you because like I said before, all I want you is to get happy. So I think you should still take the test and if you make it, you can make your decision then. You can choose to become a firefighter or not if you think that is better but it is your decision. I will just be here to support you. My supporting already starts tonight by taking you to the Italian restaurant and you can have some pasta so you have some power food for the test.'' Matt said as he kept his hands on her cheeks and kissed her on her forehead again, then she looked at him with a smile and tears in her eyes, kissing him again as she was so sweet to her and with his support, she knew that she could make the right decision and that she could get the test.
''Thank you so much, you are the best boyfriend somebody can wish. You always supported me, during my recovery and even after our fights, in which I also said hurtful things to you, we are okay again and you still support me and that….I love you Matt.'' She said and she kissed him again.
''Now let's get training again, so you can nail that test and show the boys that they should not count you out.'' Matt smiled and Gabby nodded and slowly they ran along the water, knowing that they could face the world as long as they were happy together.
NOTE: Gabby is having second thoughts even if she is going to do the test. But Matt is supporting her but will she make the test and if she does, will she make the right decision?
