Chapter 25: Uncontrollable

The breezy day called for a light jacket. The autumn scenery was sort of calming but not at all soothing. Red, brown and bits of yellow leaves cluttered the grassy ground and flowed along with the wind. Every playground set if it was a slide, the swings or even the swingy benches, seemed unrealistically still. Turning from a busy and cheerful scene to a more stoic prospect, the park had indeed lost its luster and joy. Well, to Noah it had. Maybe it was just because he screwed up and viewed everything as dull and boring. It was really bizarre how the events that happened in the past had such an effect on him that he was simply fed with everything.

Yep, that was it.

Again the cold waft blew against his body causing his hair to become messier, lying carelessly over his eyes. His ashy-colored jacket also streamed neatly with the current of air. Noah's shiny blue eyes had lost some of its usual luster as his skin turned pale against the outside's temperature. He sat near the lake with comfort. Even though sitting near the water was always colder, he liked this. He lightly smiled at the turtles that reared their head above the water and the ducks that waddled like penguins, quaking. One leg was outstretched as on was brought in supporting his arm. Noah's wrist that sustained his body began to hurt slightly, but he paid no attention to it.

Suddenly the young man sighed depressingly. He ran a hand through his soft blond locks and clutched a handful of it. The pearly white teeth inside his teeth gritted together and Noah muttered a curse.

Damn his jealousy.

That's what got him in this position in the first place. With a big mouth like his and envy as green as the summer's leaves, it was only a matter of time before he said something he regretted. Noah was usually calm and collected. He and others around him knew that. Normally, when his surroundings were chaotic and wild he was the one that breathed and faced it collectively. But behind that charming face and soothing attitude was a snake that bit harshly. Noah wasn't going to lie to himself, he got jealous easily. It took just a couple of words or a few seconds of a scene he envied and all of a sudden he would explode. Well, maybe not explode, but turn gritty and insensitive.

When Drew kissed Chelsea something just snapped in him. What was he supposed to do, just stand there and act like nothing happened? Was he supposed to say everything was okay when the bastard kept taunting him with hurtful words and untruthful statements? Of course not! Maybe it was the civilized thing to do but it definitely was the human thing to do. Noah was almost one hundred percent sure that Chelsea didn't even return the same feeling Drew had for her. It was obvious she was oblivious to it. The man was just desperate and pathetic. No man that was a real man would just go up and kiss a person without knowing the other at least shared a little of the same feelings, right? Well, at least he wouldn't. It was rude and illogical. If he just went up and kissed the young woman, how would she take it?

Would she be happy?

Noah sighed. Still, he could've handled the situation in a much more respectful way. He remembered his parents always nagged him about his streaks of rudeness whenever he didn't like something. Being a bit impulsive was rather a bad trait to have, is it not? He had to work on that. It hurt a person very close to him. Just to see her so disappointed and upset with him, it really hit him. He decided he never wanted her to look at him like that ever again. If she wanted to love someone else, then so be it. As long as she was smiling and happy he would be at least sane. Just thinking of someone else touching her caused his hair on his body to stand. Noah would first make sure they met the appropriate standards before they even looked at her.

The pits of his stomach twisted with uncertainty. Any other decent man would actually suffice. He was in no position to judge. With a background like his, Noah would never meet up to the dark-skinned woman's principles. At first his feelings for her were harmless and friendly. It was just something he had acquired. But then, as time went on, something changed. All of sudden the simple smiles she gave him held so much more value. Each time she would seem as if she could blush his head began to fill with drunken stupor and spin. The unintentional touches of skin on skin, skin on cloth or cloth on cloth would send warm tingles down his spine. And whenever she would start to stutter, flustered, Noah swore he would faint from the cuteness she failed to see in herself. He simply hated it when she would point out all the imperfections that made her so much more perfect. When her face that was like a melody to him, darkened to something of sadness he felt the instant urge to fix whatever was happening.

Yes, his feelings grew to something much more than friendly crushes. For a countless number of times Noah would catch his eyes roam her body unexpectedly. He never meant to do it, never. He just couldn't help it. Her curvy nature was just something his eyes were attracted to. Never had his stomach felt so queasy and his face felt so hot that he would accidently hold her waist that fit perfectly in his hands. Whenever she would ramble on about how big her thighs were he would always think a stream of very ungentlemanly like thoughts about them. Some he was even ashamed to rethink.

Noah clutched his head with both hands and shook his head. His face burned with embarrassment. He groaned loudly shutting his eyes. "Watch it Noah," he muttered. He opened his eyes and sighed.

Wasn't it his eyes that started the entire thing even? When Drew has caught the look he gave her backside, Noah couldn't help but feel less guilty then he should've been. Chelsea was just….so…too…her body was simply dangerous.

And so were his feelings for her if he didn't get them under control right now.

For the tenth time, a three inch brownie was eaten. The ten chocolaty squares were eaten in less than twenty minutes. Silver was very sure that wasn't healthy but he wasn't going to say anything to his mother, even if she was eating right into a heart attack.

Chelsea was sunk into the couch, holding the eleventh brownie she baked. In total she made twenty two, her age, and she kept eating them. Her legs were pressed into her torso and on the TV, there played "A Christmas Carol". It was nowhere near Christmas but she just felt like her favorite holiday movie would cheer her up along with the sweets. Since she had left the restaurant, Chelsea wasn't in the mood for anything. She just wanted to be lazy. More lazy than usual. Instead of roaming around, cleaning or making sure everyone was alright, she just sat on the couch, eating. Then she stayed in her room, crying her eyes out alone. Once Chelsea got home she felt she couldn't face the three. Knowing how much effort they put into her life and to have it burned right before her eyes was too much to take.

When the three hedgehogs' hadn't heard a peep from their mother, which was unusual, they decided to check on her one by one. Sonic was first on the list. He opened the closed door of her bedroom and quietly walked in. When he heard a light snore he figured she was sleeping and left to not wake her up. The azure hedgehog explained to his brothers that she was probably just really tired.

Next, Shadow checked on her, she was awake but barely. "Mother?" he whispered.

"Hi baby," she rasped turning over. Her eyes were not open and Shadow just stood there, wondering whether not to keep talking. Once she shifted again Chelsea cracked open her eyes when she heard the door open. "Shadow," she groggily whispered catching his attention, "Where are you going?"

"I just thought you were still tired, so I didn't want to-" the ebony male paused once she shook her head. Although Shadow really wanted to go back to drawing on laptop, he obeyed his mother's fingers that signaled for him to come closer.

He walked over to her and bent down thinking she was going to say something. Shadow almost gasped in surprise when a pair of warm arms encircled his shoulders. Chelsea pulled his body towards hers causing him to fall on her. Shadow skeptically looked at her but carefully wrapped his arms around her as much as he could. Considering this was his mother he was talking about, he wasn't too caught off guard considering all the times her mood swings hit and she just gave random embraces whenever, but this felt a little different. Surprisingly, his shoulder blades began to get a bit sore from her tight hug and she hadn't said anything yet.

"Hey, mother," he lowly said, his head lying on her chest, "is everything alright?" His dark eyelids closed relaxing for the moment.

Chelsea tiredly kissed the top of his furry head and spoke in it, "Yeah baby, I'm just fine. I just wanted to hold you. I haven't done that in awhile."

The statement didn't do anything to waver the hedgehog's suspicion but he decided not to make a big deal out of it. Shadow tilted his head to where his chin was on her chest and he looked up at her. At that moment Chelsea smiled lazily. To her, Shadow would always keep those giant cute eyes, glowing with curiosity and innocence. Maybe not innocence like in his younger years but the dark hedgehog was still as clueless about the world now and just the same as when he was five. His ruby orbs always held this protective sparkle that she would see twenty four seven whether he was around Sonic, Silver or her. He just wasn't expressive about it, but that's what made him her baby.

"Are you sure?" Shadow asked.

She nodded.

He still did not fully accept her answer but he decided to let it go. There wasn't really any evidence he could counter her- he was sure of- lies with so, there was no point. The ruby marked eldest pulled back from the embrace, Chelsea lightly letting her arms slide down his shoulders. "Okay," Shadow spoke bending down to kiss her cheek, "If you need me, I'm in my room." The dark-skinned woman nodded and soundlessly turned over closing her eyes. Shadow silently exited out of the room and went back to drawing.

Silver lifted a glowing finger slowly towards the ceiling, lazily following the orange bouncy ball that was surrounded with a fuzzy blue gleam. He sat Indian style on his neatly arranged bed slouched over with a hand holding his chin. The hand slightly ached near the wrist area from holding the position for so long but at the moment, he was too bored to care. There was simply nothing to do. With everyone in the house in their own private room, Silver hadn't thought of anything better to do than mess around with his powers that seemed pretty much useless right now. Its main job was to occupy him, taking away the thoughts of boredom but it failed at that after three minutes. One could only find floating things interesting for so long.

The orange ball was suddenly flung to the side, hitting the cream colored wall with a dull thud. It, of course, bounced off of it but no longer jumped as it hit the carpet rolling only five inches from where it landed. The metallic colored hedgehog's golden orbs followed it uninterestingly before closing in frustration. Silver clutched his head, teeth clenching while his body shook. All this monotony was taking such a great toll on his mind, his brain actually began to hurt. It pounded with this dull ache that was beginning to be too much to take. Soon, Silver yelled out in irritation bluntly dropped his hands on his lap. He opened his eyes to see…well, a very surprising sight.

An abundant amount of items that he had previously discarded on the floor floated well above his head. The room was illuminated in a light blue tint which gave it a sort of eerie appearance. Silver blinked. He relaxed his tensed body and aimlessly looked around the room observing the sight before him. Soon enough, his emotions started to kick in. Silver began to slightly panic, wondering what he was doing. He certainly didn't move to make all these things float. Taking action, he put up his hands and lowered them as if commanding the items to lower themselves. This trick had always worked, but for some odd reason, something really weird happen; something that caused the frightened young hedgehog to call out for his mother.

In the air, a blue, hard covered, book whipped across the room landing at the very edge of his bed, on the floor. When Silver got up to leave, out of minor terror, the remote flew a foot from where he was. He quickly sat on his bed shaking. After awhile, when there was no response from his mother Silver anxiously called for one of his brothers. "Sonic, Shadow, I could really use your help right now!" One of his gloves shot right in front of him only to hit the bed post. Silver bit his lip, praying for one of them to arrive through the door.

The white door opened revealing an azure hedgehog that wonderingly walked in. "What's up bud-"

Without any warning, a pencil darted towards Sonic who, fortunately with his superb reflexes, dodged the writing utensil. When it hit the wall, leaving a single gray stripe, his emerald eyes glared surprisingly yet angrily at his brother. "What the flip Silver!" he exclaimed, "That wasn't funny." He stepped towards him only to have a pen point the tip towards him and fly at startling speeds at its target. Sonic, once again, eluded the item scowling. "What's your problem!? That could've really hurt me!" he snapped, annoyed Silver of all people would even think of a stunt like this.

The lighter hedgehog shook his head eyeing his sibling apologetically. "No, I would never do that Sonic! I don't even know what's going on. Look," he said pointing to all the items.

Sonic skeptically turned his head and when he saw the sight before him, his jaw dropped. He scanned all the things in the air. "Hey!" he pointed excitedly, "There's my headphones! I've been looking for them for ages."

Silver's eye almost twitched. "Sonic, focus!" he exclaimed.

"Oh yeah, sorry," he said, sheepishly. Sonic straightened up looking at Silver. "Well, buddy, just do the thing that you do and, um, put them down," he said simply.

For a moment, the teen hedgehog considered having all the miscellaneous items thrown at his cerulean sibling for the completely dumb answer he just gave, but when those things pointed towards the blue blur, he admonished the feelings. "Well, thing is, it's not working. I can't do that. Every time I try, something flies away."

"That's a problem," Sonic pondered. He scratched the back of his head. "I'm gonna go get Shads. He'll know what to do." When he took a step out Silver immediately reacted causing a disk of CDs to fly about the room. He put out his hands as if reaching out to Sonic.

"No, don't leave me!" he shouted with fright, "I'm- I mean….please." His golden eyes shimmered with tears. He knew it was stupid to cry right now but he was really scared. Out of the corner of his eye he could see a jagged piece of hard plastic floating around. The situation didn't seem dire right now, but it was only a matter of time till someone got really hurt.

Sonic, on the other hand, did not get his brother's worry. He quirked a brow tilting his head in confusion. "Well why not. I'm just going down the hall Silver. I'll be back faster than you can say 'blue hedgehog'." And before the poor hedgehog could answer back, the azure boy zoomed away.

Silver sat there, his hands trembling slightly. In his head he had whispered "blue hedgehog" at least seven times and Sonic still was not back. He got slightly angry at that but as soon as he did a stack of books positioned themselves straight at him. He blew through his nose anxiously promptly begging his mind to calm. "Relax Silver," he whispered, "Everything will be ok."

"What the hell?"

His head shot towards the low voice of the statement and surprisingly left so relieved. "Shadow," he said, his name relaxing on his tongue.

Ruby orbs skeptically scanned the silver hedgehog, glaring. He moved for wards only to have a notepad thrown at him. Shadow caught it before it could hit his face, the target, and glowered at his younger sibling. "What's the meaning of this?" he said lowly.

Silver gulped, that feeling of security suddenly leaving under his brother's angry eyes. "I promise, I didn't mean to. I have no idea what's going on." He relaxed a little when the crimson striped male blinked, his glared softening into an analyzing one.

"So I've heard," he speculated.

"What are we going to do?" Sonic brought up.

For a moment the ebony hog pondered on the thought. Sonic watched him, waiting for an answer while glancing at the items in the air, making sure they didn't hit any of them. Silver bit his lip, frantically and mentally hurrying the eldest of the three.

Finally, he came up with a solution. "We have to go get mother."

He didn't know why, but something snapped in Silver. Perilous fright filled his insides and he couldn't quite place way. In normal circumstances, he would've loved for his mother to come and fix everything, like she always did, but now, he didn't feel like that was rational. If Chelsea were come over now, how would she think of him as things kept flying at her? Would she be upset, disappointed? Would he hurt her unexpectedly and send him back to that facility that she mentioned before? No, she couldn't come here. It wasn't safe.

As Shadow turned to get her, Silver shouted out with trepidation, "Stop Shadow! Don't get mom!" he held his hands out, reaching for him.

Shadow frowned. "She'll know what to do." He continued on.

"No, I said stop!" Silver cried out and before he could put his emotions in check, a wave of pain suddenly shot through his head. Holding his head, his fingers dug in his head. Silver shouted in agony and bowed his head. The room lit with a bright blue as the things in the air suddenly started to move, all of them. They circled about the room at startling speeds, as in fast enough the two hedgehogs could feel the rush of air. Surrounding the pale white hedgehog was a blue sphere, protecting him from the fast moving objects.

Astonished at the sudden events, Sonic and Shadow looked at each other, the first thing in their minds: to help Silver. They step towards the room, Shadow stepping into the hazardous room only to have his arm skimmed with something that felt similar to a graze of a bullet. He jumped back clutching his arms as it stung. "You ok?" the azure hedgehog asked anxiously. Shadow nodded sucking air through his teeth.

That actually really hurt.

He shook his head, ignoring the pain. The two focused on Silver who strained, "N-no…..don't….come….closer…too…..dangerous." He began to toss his head around, still clutching it.

Sonic couldn't stand here, watching helplessly as things were getting out of control. Without another thought, he ran to his mother's room immediately waking her up when he slammed the door open. Chelsea bolted up, blinking rapidly.

"Huh?" she said startled. When Sonic's distressed expression came into her view she rubbed her eyes and asked, "Sonic? What's wrong?"

"Mom, something's wrong with Silver," he breathlessly said. With no other questions asked, Chelsea threw the covers off of her and stumbled after the blue hedgehog. When she saw Shadow glaring at the inside of the white male's room, she began to question the events. "What's going on? What's wrong with Silver-" she stopped staring wide-eyed.

"What the…"

Saying she was stunned was thoroughly an understatement.

Chelsea gaped as wind blew against her face causing her hair to fly backwards. "Is Silver doing this?" she shouted over the buzzing of the objects.

"Not intentionally," Shadow answered.

She numbly turned back to the room, searching for her hedgehog through the mass of flying things. When her brown eyes lied on Silver who grabbed his head tightly, crying out in pain, she frowned.

"Silver!" she shouted running towards the room.

"No!" Sonic called after her. Before she could step into the whirling tornado, he grabbed her, wrenching her back. Chelsea harshly fell against Sonic's chest. After rubbing her headache away she glared accusingly at him. "I have to help him."

Sonic shook his head, frowning. "You can't help him if you're hurt," he continued on when she gave a questioning look, "If you go in there, something will definitely hurt you. I can barely keep track of anything's movements," he explained seriously.

"Then what do we do Sonic? We have to do something." Chelsea exclaimed.

Sonic looked over to Shadow who scowled deeply, well, more than usual. "Any ideas Shad-"

"Do you hear that?" the dark hog interrupted.

Chelsea blinked. "Hear what?" She glanced at Sonic who shrugged, listening intently. "Shadow?" she steadily called out.

"Mother," his eyes suddenly got really wide, scaring Chelsea, "someone is in the house."

Her heart began to race. A feeling of fright laid in the pits of her stomach causing her to widen her eyes. "What do you mean-"

"Chelsea?"

Oh Jesus Christ of Nazareth, please don't let it be who I think it is.

She carefully turned her head along with Sonic and Shadow. In their view came an all too familiar face to the dark-skinned woman. His wide eyes and pale face gave away his feeling of utter confusion, deeply terrifying her.

"Noah?"
