After a moment of deliberation, Rose saw the only place that she could quickly hide the Doctor. "Wish Mickey was here," she huffed out as she slid her arms underneath the Doctor's and hauled him backwards, the lower half of his body dragging across the slick floor. She almost slipped a couple of times, but she was able to move him to where she thought he'd be safe – a replica of a Stegosaurus nest. Soon, the Doctor was sprawled out behind the plaster eggs. Rose did her best to cover him with fake moss so that he was obscured from view and then affectionately patted the reproduction mother Stegosaurus that towered above him. "Keep him safe, yeah? I'll be right back for him." She heard the Doctor mumble something in his sleep. "If you were awake right now, you'd be in stitches," she said with a smile.

Then, Rose heard the screams coming from the other room. She didn't have a plan and she had no idea what to expect, but she ran anyway.

Everyone was scuttling off the dance floor and getting up from their tables; everyone who wasn't passed out, that is. Ten or twelve security guards stood in the center of the room, backing the conscious people against the wall with their tranquilizer guns pointed at the crowd.

"Get over there!" one security guard said, training his gun on Rose as she came through the door.

Rose hurried over to where her dad, Vin, and Audrey were pressed in the throng of party-goers. She saw her mum slumped over at the table, obviously sedated.

"I can't wake her up," Pete said, motioning towards Jackie. "And I can't exactly whip out my mobile and call Torchwood. Where's the Doctor?"

"Drugged," Rose admitted. "Like Mum. It's in the food. You lot didn't have any tarts, did ya?"

"No," Pete assured her. "Been too busy shaking hands to eat yet."

Vin nodded. "We haven't eaten anything either. Besides, I don't eat tarts."

"S'true," Audrey said, keeping a wary eye on the security guards. "He's a real health nut, this one. Doubt he'd eat a pastry to save his life."

"Comes in handy," Vin argued. "For instance, I have granola and dried apricots in my pockets right now. You'll thank me later if they decide to keep us here all night."

"What do they want? What's this all about?" Pete asked. "They're not robbing anyone... They're just standing there."

"That Cynthia Dove person wants the manuscript," Rose explained. "She's gotten to the security guards."

"Why aren't they trying to take it then?" Vin asked.

More people from the crowd started to collapse, dwindling their numbers considerably. Suddenly, Rose heard a loud crackling sound and the ground beneath her feet started to tremble. She feared it was an earthquake and grabbed a hold of Pete's arm. But after hearing a couple screams and gasps, she looked in the direction of the sound and saw a Greek statue of a woman on the far side of the room begin to crumble. The white marble began to chip and fracture, falling away to reveal a woman underneath. Her dark hair was littered with flecks of stone and her eyes blinked away the dust. The pink tunic she wore, now free from its constraints, rippled in the light. With a soft shake of her head, she moved one sandaled foot in front of the other until she was standing amongst the security guards, eyeing the frightened crowd with approval.

"Oh, look," Audrey said softly. "There she is."

When the woman spoke, Rose felt ice glide over her skin. "I apologize for interrupting your lovely evening, but you have something of mine that I came here to claim. All I ask is that you stay exactly where you are and be cooperative or my friends here will put their guns to good use." She then sauntered over to a table and lifted the head of a man who had fallen to the sedative. "What a pity. S'pose I'll have to find someone else then."

"Who is that?" Rose asked out of the corner of her mouth.

"My boss," Vin said. "He runs the museum."

Then the woman turned and her calculating eyes fell on Vin. "Oh, this is fortunate. Mr. Buttonsworth, I do believe we haven't been formally introduced… since we never did get our date." She smiled and Rose heard Vin let out a shuddering breath. "If you would be so kind, Mr. Buttonsworth… I do require your assistance with the alarm code on the manuscript. There's no reason to call in your police and put all these people in danger, is there?"

One security guard moved forward and pointed his gun at Vin. Pete reached over and put his hand on Vin's shoulder. "Go ahead," Pete told him. "Do what she asks. We don't want anyone to get hurt over some old papers."

"Peter Tyler… Torchwood director! I really should have brought my autograph book," the woman said. "Come along, Irving… be a good boy and we won't have to harm my pretty little replacement." Another security guard stepped up and focused on Audrey.

Vin's entire body clenched in response to Audrey being threatened. He shoved his glasses up on his nose and walked towards the woman slowly. "If I enter the alarm code, will you leave everyone alone?" he asked.

"I keep my promises," the woman said and gestured for him to go to the manuscript.

With a sigh of resignation, Vin went to the glass case holding the manuscript and punched in a code on the attached keypad. There was a mechanical noise and then the door on the glass case swung open. The woman stepped forward as Vin moved aside and gingerly picked up the manuscript, holding it to her chest protectively.

"You've got what you came here for," Pete called out to her. "Now leave."

The woman turned and gave him a pitying smirk. "That was just the beginning of what I want," she said. Then she turned to the guards. "Take the blood that these kind people were generous enough to donate to our cause... and Irving here. I believe that he can prove useful."

Before Rose or Pete could intervene, one of the guards shot Vin with a dart and he collapsed. They grabbed him underneath his arms and started to carry him out. Audrey let out a cry and almost ran forward before Rose pulled her back. "There's too many of them. When the Doctor wakes up, we'll find him… I promise."

"Oh," the woman called out and spun back around, "and don't forget to collect the Doctor. He's gone to so much trouble to seek me out, it would be a shame if we never met." Rose held her breath, hoping that she was going to have them look for the Doctor among the people gathered in the room. Unfortunately for Rose, the Doctor was right. This Cynthia Dove was always one step ahead of them. She looked Rose square in the eye and said, "I do believe you'll find him in the room on the left."

Rose couldn't stop herself. She ran in the direction of the guards. One turned to her and she yelled at him, "You'll have to shoot me first!" Apparently, for him, this was not a problem.

Sometime later, Rose woke up with her father and Audrey kneeling next to her. Pete was holding the dart that had been lodged in her forearm and he promptly chucked it aside to assist Rose to her feet.

"Can you stand?" he asked her.

Rose wobbled a bit and then regained her balance. "I… I think so."

"Good. I was hoping that I pulled that out quick enough."

"She got away, didn't she?" Rose asked.

Both Pete and Audrey nodded solemnly. "But I've called in Torchwood. They're on their way as we speak. You weren't out long… maybe we can still track them down."

"She's got the manuscript and Vin…and the Doctor now. Not to mention everyone's blood so she can infect everyone here with whatever it is she's using on people…" Rose sighed. "I've gotta get the Doctor back. No tellin' what she wants to use him for."

"Alright…alright. Let's just wait for Torchwood to get here and then we'll come up with something," Pete said.

Rose shook her head. "There isn't time. The longer we wait, the more chance that she'll do to them whatever she's done to everyone else. Besides, you should keep Torchwood here to clean this up and make sure these people stay away from her or whoever could be workin' for her." She started for the door, but stopped. "I don't even know how to find them," she said with a sigh. "Should've put a trackin' device in his trainers."

Pete loosened his tie in a nervous gesture and cleared his throat. "I… uh… I think I know how you can find him."

"How?" Rose asked.

"Er…he's not gonna be happy about this," Pete mumbled. "And Jacks is gonna kill me…"

"What? Just tell me, yeah?" Rose reached over and gripped his arm.

"He might have something on him that can be tracked. And, if I know him, he's probably still carrying it around."

"His mobile?" Rose asked. "That won't work. He leaves it in the car or the TARDIS all the time."

"No…no. It's something else. That's all I can tell you, alright? Just…trust me. But you're gonna have to use the TARDIS to track it. I don't know how… but maybe you can figure out how to do it. I'm sure the TARDIS can find him."

"Okay," Rose said. "I can try. But I've gotta go then." She was still confused, but at least now she had some form of hope. Rose kissed her dad on the cheek and headed off. But before she got to the door, she noticed that Audrey was following her. "Whaddya doin'?"

"Comin' with ya. Want some company?"

"This could be dangerous," Rose warned.

"She's got Vin," Audrey said matter-of-factly. "He'd go after me."

Rose smiled. "Then let's go rescue our boys."
