Derek's POV

Call me overprotective and possessive, but can you really blame me when two strange supernatural beings, a witch and a sorcerer, suddenly want to cast a spell to remove the memory spell on my wife without the reassurance that things would be okay?

Even though Elena reassured that both Paige and Lucas were good and excellent in this field and could be trusted I wasn't still that keen on the idea and it seemed like Chloe as well seemed reluctant to allow someone cast another spell on her, seeing as the first one had been there without her knowing for god knows how long, but her determination to figure out the truth overpowered her reluctance which is why she and I were arguing out in the hall about it.

"Come on, Derek. I want to know the truth," Chloe put her hands on her hips and looked up at me with a defiant expression on her face. "Apparently I have been living my life under a wrong assumption and I don't want to do that anymore. No matter what happened or how horrible my real past might be I need to know."

I shook my head, "But what happens when you do? There might be consequences that neither of us wants to face. Or what if the spell goes wrong and you end up losing all of your memories?"

I didn't want to admit it, but I was scared that if her memories returned she would leave me or she would forget me if the spell backfired. It terrified me how much I have come to care and love her despite the short time we have known each other. Still I wouldn't change it for the world and I seriously hoped that Chloe felt the same as I did.

Chloe stared at me, no longer defiant or frustrated at me, but simply stared at me like she was trying to understand what was going on in my head. When I was about to comment on her staring when she out of nowhere placed a hand on my cheek. The touch was warm and affectionate that both warmed my heart and also calmed me down. She tilted her head slightly to the left in an innocent manner and said softly, "Hey. I know that you are being overprotective and worrying like crazy about me, which is why you are annoyingly against the whole idea to try it out, but though I find your worrying both annoying and sweet at the same time I want you to trust me. No matter what happens I wouldn't leave you and I certainly wouldn't stop feeling what I feel for you. You are my husband and I'm your wife, lost memories aren't going to change that."

Her words were strong and determined, but also loving that made me almost believe her and her reassurance. However I wasn't the kind of person who jumped into things by believing in faith alone I needed facts, something substantial that supported a theory. Still nothing has indicated that I shouldn't trust her words and her affection.

I sighed heavily, "I know and I want to believe you it's just…I don't want to anything bad to happen to you because I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with it should it happen."

"I know-I know," Chloe gave me a small smile. "However even if you and me don't like the idea, the people in the other room is reluctant about our situation and they are definitely not going to believe or trust us when there are some missing holes in the story that might explain the memory spell on all of us. And we seriously need all the help we can get in order to rescue Kit since we can't do this alone."

I leaned my head forward, letting our foreheads meet each other and I closed my eyes in defeat. She was right and despite my worry and reluctance about the whole magic thing we needed their help and they weren't going to trust us unless they had all the facts that they needed since they weren't about to dive into a dangerous situation without the precaution.

So I threw my hands in defeat and said, "…Fine. We'll do it, but that doesn't mean I'm going to like any minute of it. And also promise me that you will tell us if it is too much for you. I don't want you to push yourself too bad."

Chloe's face just beamed, "I promise." Then she stood up on her toes and gave me a peck on the lips. The kiss ended faster than what I liked, but I really didn't want to display our love connection with nosy werewolves and tricky witches and annoying sorcerers in the other room, and especially when two of those people were Tori and Simon, who practically lived to make fun of me over things like this and definitely would make sure I would never forget it either. So I kissed her back quickly before I closed my eyes and sighed heavily once more. Without anything else to discuss we returned back into the room before the preparations to restore Chloe's memories began.

Seeing as neither Chloe nor I wanted to display a show when Lucas and Paige would try to remove the spell, the four of us retreated to an empty room to get the peace and silence that we needed. Paige advised Chloe to sit down on a chair in order to get comfortable, meanwhile I was placed on a chair next to her both to be a reassuring part for her, but also to keep me calm and reassured because I would sure as hell wouldn't be calm if I wasn't there for her.

"Okay," Paige tried to sound confident and chipper, even though none of us really felt any of those things at all at the moment. "You might feel some pain from your head, which is perfectly normally since the spell works like a door that we open the door and the memories that is hidden just explodes out that will result pain, but it is necessary to find out what really happened with you."

Chloe nodded carefully, though it was clear as day that she was scared and uncomfortable, but she was tough as nails as she took on her stubborn and strong face and simply said, "Right. I'm ready."

Paige gave her a small smile, "Good, now close your eyes, take a few breaths and then we will begin the spell."

Chloe did what she was asked and closed her eyes, meanwhile I put my hand over hers and squeezed it tightly as a way to comfort her. She squeezed me back, not as strong as I did, but the sentiment was the same.

Then Lucas and Paige began chanting the spell, which I had no idea what they were saying since I wasn't a sorcerer, but it sounded like one of the many spells Simon had cast even though Paige and Lucas seemed to be more at ease and more successful with their casting than Simon was.

As they continued chanting the spell, Chloe's facial expression changed and sweat was staring to dripping from her forehead. And it didn't take long before she was moaning in pain and murmuring something that I couldn't comprehend despite my werewolf senses. This continued for a while, but when Lucas and Paige were at the end of the spell Chloe started to scream in pain and in one quick movement she sat up in her chair. Her eyes were still somehow closed, but she was shaking and screamed so loud that my ears hurt. However it didn't matter since I wrapped my arms around her and began giving her comforting words and softly shushed even though I was pretty much freaking out on the inside. It took a few minutes for her to calm down, Paige and Lucas looked between themselves during that time worried if the spell had worked or it had gone terribly wrong, but once she was completely calm she opened her eyes. Tears streamed down from her eyes as she looked around her surroundings before her gaze was solely focused on me. And the first words that came out of her mouth took my completely by surprise, "I missed you."

Thank you for the response I have been receiving, hope you guys like this chapter.

As some of you asked me before, I have to tell you that the length of my chapters will remain around the same as they are now. The reason is that I don't have the time to write long chapters due to school and other stories, even though I personally think that longer chapters would work better out for this story as well. However think positive about it in regard that I will be able to update more often than before and the story will continue for a while yet.

I have recently finished Kelley Armstrong's latest book, the Masked Truth, and I seriously loved it. It was amazing and had me hooked from the first chapter. If anyone take my word for it I would recommend you guys to read it.
