The police and the FBI set the stage for the recovery of baby Morgan. They spent the rest of the evening putting a plan together. It was agreed that no one would tell Derek and Pen in case something went wrong. They had put Marcie up in a hotel with an uncover police officer. She was nervous and scared at the same time. With only couple of hours of sleep, the team strolled into the police station and got to work. The meeting was set for two that afternoon. The undercover police office was going to bring Marcie to the station at noon. Rossi watched Aaron.

"You think this is going to work?"

"As bad as she wants to get rid of the baby, I believe it will."

"I can't believe she came up with this scheme and managed to get the baby. Is she that desperate to keep Derek?" Emily said.

"I'm surprised she thought this would make Derek go back to her. Doesn't she understand how much he loves his son. It would kill him if something happened to D. She certainly has some screwed loose but I will give her credit, she came up with a pretty good plan on how to get pregnant. Kidnapping the baby wasn't so smart. She forgot who Derek worked for and all the resources we have." JJ said.

"She's thinking she won. D supposedly will be gone tonight and she'll wait maybe two days before contacting Derek." Spence said.

"She's in for a rude awakening." Aaron said.

Marcie was nervous as they taped a wire to her body. They wanted a record whatever was said. She was told act like nothing was wrong. Since the meet was at a park, she was told there would be plenty of FBI agents and cops wandering around. They would swoop in a soon as she had the baby in her hands. Her car still held the suitcases she had packed before she went to the police. She knew she was going to have someone following her but this whole situation made her nervous. She knew she did the right thing but she still had some reservations.

She drove down the highway toward the exit leading to the park. She realized that Melanie or Savannah, had picked this park because it was located close to the airport. Marcie guessed she had picked this park so she could get away easy. The exit drew near and the more nervous she got. She hoped all went like the agents had planned because she didn't want the baby to get hurt. When she the entrance to the park she noticed how crowded it was. She drove until she spotted the restrooms she was supposed to wait. She parked and looked around. She saw families playing with their children; laughing. She closed her eyes and prayed.

With eyes on her, Savannah had opted to stay home and have her partner deliver the baby but she wanted to be there. She wanted to see the exchange. She was giddy with excitement. She put on her disguise and made the call. He was to meet the woman at the restrooms of the park. Her name was Marcie and once she had the baby in her hand, he was to make sure she left and headed to the airport. Then he was to call her to let her know they were at the airport. Once she knew he was gone, they would meet so he could receive the rest of his pay. She hung up and made her next call. It was to Marcie.

"Marcie, it's Melanie. Are you all set?"

"Yes. I'm on the way to the park right now."

"Good. You have the airline tickets I gave you the money for."

"In my purse."

"I will there to meet you and will hand over the baby. I will give a bag but you take him and go straight to the airport. Then you will call me when you land so I can make sure that you arrive safely."

"I know you already told me twice. I know what to do."

"See you in a bit."

Aaron looked at Rossi. "She seems overly confident."

"She's a text book narcissist. Why didn't we ever see it?"

"She only let us see what she wanted."

"Now all we have to do is wait."

Marcie sat in the car waiting. She was trying not to bite her nails but the wait was nerve wracking. She watched as each car passed by. None were Savannah. A parked right next to her and she turned to the right. A man got out and came to her window. She rolled it down.

"Marcie."

"Yes. Who are you?"

"Don't worry about that. I have the package that a mutual friend sent."

"What? Why isn't Melanie here?"

"She had something come up. Do you want the package or not?"

"Yes. I do."

"Where is he?"

"Asleep in the car seat." He walked back to his car and retrieved a bag. It was a regular carry-on bag. "Here are some supplies that she thought you would need. He hasn't been eating right."

"Is he sick?"

"No nothing like that."

"Ok. May I see him?"

He went back to the car and took the carrier out. He handed her the carrier. The baby was asleep. "He was cranky so I gave him something to settle him. He should wake up in about an hour."

She took the carrier from him. "He's so beautiful."

"Admire him later, you need to go."

"Oh right."

She put him in the car and buckled him up. Then she got into her own car and started the engine. She backed up and the man in the car was right behind her. she was a few feet in front of him when cars surrounded them. She stopped and so did the man behind her. she watched as men and women came from everywhere, their weapons pointed at them. She knew this was all part of the plan so she went along. A woman told her to get out of the car and put cuffs on her and took her to a car. Another woman took the car seat out the car and placed it an SUV that took off. The man was on the ground and being handcuffed.

Savannah watch from a distance as the man did what he was told. She had a smile on her face when Marcie took D. She was about to leave when she saw the two cars being surrounded by cars. She hit the steering wheel when she realized what was happening. There was only one way out of the park. She needed to get out of there as soon as possible but that wasn't option at the moment. So she sat there and waited, hoping she didn't get recognized.

Back in the van, they watched the seen unfold before them. They saw D being whisked away in the other SUV. He would be taken to where they had an ambulance waiting for him to be checked out.

"Why didn't Savannah show up? I figured she would be here to hand over the baby." Rossi said.

"She is watching this from somewhere. You can count on it."

"Hotch I think you are right. I don't know if you noticed but see that black car parked over by the playground. That car came in right behind our suspects."

"Who is it?"

"It's registered to Savannah."

"Tell me she is not that stupid." Rossi said.

"She had to watch her handiwork." Aaron said.

"Rossi, radio the police, tell them who she is and have an undercover approach her as if she is having problems with her car."

Rossi radioed the Det. Winters and they watched. The police woman approaches the car but Savannah wasn't stupid. As soon as the woman was close enough she opened the door, knocking down the woman and sped off. Hotch put the SUV in drive and took off. Since the exit to the park was blocked she went back the way she came in.

Hotch hit the walkie talkie. "Savannah Morgan is on the run. She's heading your way JJ. She is going to pass you up."

"Copy that. D is on the way to the hospital. Emily went with him."

"Stay on her JJ. Don't let her get away."

Two police cars sped ahead of them, right on Savannah. They watched as she sped up and ran through the lights. They saw JJ get right in front of the cops, keeping as close to Savannah as she could. He heard the helicopter in the air and knew they had assistance in case they lost her. the pilot reported them where she was. She took the highway leading back to the city at a high rate of speed. Watching in silence, they watched her weave in and out of traffic.

"She is going to cause an accident." Spence said.

"She doesn't want to get caught but that is useless now. We know of her involvement."

She took the next exit with a sharp right. The car skimmed the concrete divider but she kept on going. She ran through the light and kept going. Two other police cars joined in the chase. The next intersection was blocked by more cars than the other one. She started honking and people moved out of the way, more than likely due to the police. She was halfway through the intersection when she was hit from the side. They all watched in horror as her car slid a few hundred feet, hit another car and the impact made her car flip onto its side.

"Damn."

The police cars reached her first. One hollered she was alive and to call an ambulance. It took minutes to get there and they accessed her for injuries. JJ told them she was about eight months or so pregnant. When they pulled her out of the car she was bleeding from her face and a growing wet spot between her legs. She was put on a stretcher and rushed to the ambulance. The occupants in the other car had minor injuries and were loaded into another ambulance. Aaron asked what hospital they were taking her too.

"You all go to the hospital and I'll go get Derek and Pen. Make sure someone stays outside D's door. We don't know yet if she had any more accomplices."

Derek gazed through the mini blinds and watched the reporters scurried to their vehicles. He didn't know what was going on to make them leave. They had been camped out in the parking lot waiting to get a glimpse of them or even talk to them. He had made sure that he had secluded Pen from them. She was in such a fragile state as more time went on without any word about their son. They both knew what that usually meant in a case like this. dread filled his body. Aaron had told them they could stay at his house but declined that offer. He didn't want to bring the media to his house with Jack around. He turned away from the window and sat on the love seat. Pen was asleep on the couch. She only slept in the daytime when she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. Derek was worried about her. As the days went by, she had stopped eating all together. He tried to get her to eat but she said she wasn't hungry. A knock sounded on the door and he went to answer.

"Aaron, any news?"

"Derek, I need you and Pen to come with me."

"Is about D?"

"I tell you on the way."

They locked eyes, Derek nodded and went to wake up Pen. He nudged her gently awake and told her they needed to leave. She asked Aaron what was going on but he told her the same thing as Derek. She noticed the reporters were gone.

"Where are the news people?" she said as they got in the car.

Derek sat on the back with her because he didn't know what Aaron had to tell them. The held hands as he began to talk. They listened intently. They already knew about the PI but the news of the woman was new.

"She was giving my son to a stranger." Pen whispered.

"That was her plan but the woman saw the Amber Alert on TV and realized what was really going on. So she came in and told us what she knew."

"You believed her?"

"Yes. She had a picture of D."

"Oh God." He said. "Where is this lady?"

"We set her up in a hotel and asked her to do exactly as she was told. She was meeting Savannah at the park by the airport. We had the park covered with police and agents. The meeting took place and a man showed up instead of Savannah. He spoke to the woman and then handed a car seat over. He followed her and we surrounded their cars. We made it look like she didn't know anything. The baby was whisked away to a waiting ambulance at the closest parking lot."

"Is it D?" Pen whispered.

"Yes Pen it is."

Both of them broke down in tears with Pen sobbing as she clung to Derek. "IS he ok?"

"They took him to the ambulance where they rushed him to the hospital. Emily went with him and I haven't heard anything yet. There is something else."

"What?"

"Reid spotted a car that drove into the park right after the man and parked away from the meeting place. No one got out of the car. It was Savannah. We knew she wouldn't be able not to see D being handed off to some who would take him. We approached her car and she fled the scene. We chased her down the highway and she exited and ran through lights. She ran through a light and was hit. Her car slid, hit another car and flipped over. It took a few minutes but they got her out and took her to the same hospital as D."

No one said anything else and Derek and Pen let it sink in what they were told. The reporters were at the hospital when they got there. They parked at the emergency entrance and went into the hospital before they were spotted. They were met with the team.

"Where is he? Where is my son?" Pen sobbed.

"Pen calm down." JJ said. "The doctors are checking him out at the moment but he looks good."

She sobbed in relief and pressed her face into Derek's chest. A nurse came out looking for them.

"You are the parents to that precious baby." Derek nodded. "Follow me I will take you to him."

As they walked through the emergency room clutching each other tightly, they held their breath. It wasn't until the nurse stood outside the door that they sagged with relief. Lying in a hospital crib was their son. Tears of joy ran down their faces. The doctor motioned to step in. the nurse slid the door closed. They stopped a few feet from him.

"HI I'm Dr. Peters."

Pen couldn't wait any longer. "How is?"

"He's a dehydrated so that is why he has an IV but other than that he is fine. I'm sure he is scared and missing his parents."

"Can I hold him?"

"Please. The people that had him did give him something so he would sleep. They gave him Benadryl. So he will sleep it off."

Pen went to the crib and ran her hands all over him. She wanted to make sure herself that nothing was wrong with him. He only had a diaper on so it was easy for her. Derek joined her and ran his hands over her head. The door opened and a nurse pulled in a rocking chair. The nurse positioned it next to the IV pole. She lifted him out carefully and cradled him to her. She closed her eyes and quietly sobbed. Derek's arms closed around her and his son. He kissed D's head and leaned his head against Pen's. She looked at him with tears running down her face and the sat in the chair with Derek kneeling on the floor, never once taking his arms away from her. the nurse left the three of them alone with their son.

Aaron paced back and forth in the waiting room waiting for word on D. He hoped everything was ok. The rest were sitting in chairs waiting as well. They were all relieved that they had D back. They all knew what that meant to Derek and Pen. Det. Winters and Det. March came into the waiting room.

"Any word on Savannah or the baby?" March asked.

"Pen and Derek are with the baby now. We haven't heard from them yet. No one has told us anything about Savannah." Aaron said.

"Has her accomplice said anything?" Emily asked.

"Not a word. He hasn't even asked for a lawyer."

"As soon as we know how the baby is, we'll go down there and see if we can't persuade him to talk." Rossi said. "Does Marci know the man?"

"She said she had never seen him before."

Derek came through the doors and stopped in front of the team. You could tell that he had been crying. He let out a breath.

"How is he?" JJ asked.

"He's doing well. The doctor said there is nothing wrong but dehydration. His captors gave him Benadryl to make him sleep so he'll wake up when that has worn off." He took a deep breath. "I want to … I want to thank you all for bringing our son back. I don't think we could have gotten through this without you."

"We did what anybody would do for family." Rossi. "How is Pen?"

"She's been crying nonstop since she saw him and hasn't let him go either. She isn't going to let him out of her sight. I don't think I will either. I came out here to tell you what was going on. They want to keep him overnight for observation. He should go home tomorrow. Aaron can you tell my mom that he's home. She probably has seen the news by now. I know she'll want to come."

"I'll call her and let her know." Emily said.

"Any news on Savannah?" Derek asked. "I want to talk to her."

"I don't think that is a good idea." Rossi said.

"I need to know why she did all this."

"You already know why." Aaron said.

"Are you going to arrest her?"

"As soon as she can get out of here, she'll be arrested. We have enough evidence and witnesses. If it wasn't for Marcie we wouldn't have known anything about what she was planning."

"I know. I would like to meet her. Is she going to be charged with anything?"

"I need to ask the DA but she really didn't do anything but agree to take the baby but she came in before that took place. The only mistake she made was making a deal with devil. We'll see."

"And the man that had my son?"

"He's not talking."

"I need to get back to my family."

The watched him leave and each said their own silent prayer thanking God that D was home safe and sound. Now they just needed to know what was happening with Savannah. They were just about to sit down again when a doctor came through the doors and spotted Det. Winters.

"Detective Winters I have news on Mrs. Morgan." The Det. Nodded. "She came in with numerous injures but the most pressing was her baby. She started bleeding and having contractions. She was conscious and told us that she was thirty-three weeks pregnant. We had no choice but to deliver her baby."

"Is the baby ok?" JJ asked.

"She was born seven weeks early and cannot breathe on her own, can't maintain her body temp, she'll need a feeding tube, ventilator. We won't know if she has other problems until we do tests some we have to wait a few days. She's very small at only four pound and two ounces. Mrs. Morgan did say that her husband should be showing up and that I should be talking him about their daughter."

"Mr. Morgan is the father of the baby that was kidnapped and brought in. He is with him now. The situation is complicated and I will relay to Mr. Morgan what is going on. Is Mrs. Morgan in a room?" the detective said.

"No. She is in recovery for about an hour and then we will move her."

"I want a man positioned at her door in the recovery and her own room. I don't want her left alone for anything."

"You said she had other injuries. What are those?" JJ asked.

"Aside from delivering early, she has a concussion, a deep cut on her cheek that required stitches, her ribs are not broken but will probably be sore. She has a fractured wrist. She's heavily medicated right now."

"I want to know as soon as she wakes up." Detective March told the doctor, who nodded.

Derek leaned against the frame of the door and watched Pen. She had laid D back in the crib and she was slowly stroking his face. He could he face wet with tears. She turned to look at him and graced him with the biggest smile he had ever seen. He moved toward and held open arms to her.

"He's still sleeping."

"He stirred a little but didn't wake up." She said. "Do you really think he's ok?"

"I hope so. I think he just needs his parents right now."

"Why was he so dehydrated? Weren't they feeding him? Were they starving him?" she whispered with tears in her voice.

"I don't know baby. We won't know until the man that we assumed had him starts talking and right now he isn't."

"What would have happened if that woman hadn't come forward. We might not ever have found him."

"Don't think about it. He's here with us and that is all that matters."

"I want her to pay Derek. I want them all to pay for taking my son and making him suffer. I don't care what this did to me. I'm only worried about him."

"She will Penelope. That you can count on."

"Have you heard anything about her?"

"No. I really don't want to know. The only thing I want to know is when she gets arrested and what charges will be brought against her."

"Is the team still here?"

"I suppose. I told them about D and I think they were going to the station to get the interrogation started."

"The nurse said they were going to move him to a room in about thirty minutes. She says it will be private and that we can stay with him all night."

"That's good. I don't think I could leave him right now."

"I'm not leaving until we can take him home."
