"You are quite popular here. Your victory two years ago has made people want to... know you, Mr. Odair."
"Know me... how, sir?" Even then, I knew Snow was dangerous.
"The Capitol is all about pleasure. People here have nothing better to do than entertain themselves." His voice takes on a hard note. "And you will entertain them, I hope?"
This isn't a question; it's a demand. A veiled threat. Still, I take a chance.
"And if I deny them?"
Without hesitation, Snow countered, "Deny one person. And we'll see how much you love your family."
Between a rock and a hard place. Too many times, I've heard about people who were "accidentally" killed for whatever reason. I couldn't take that risk for Annie. For anyone.
Those snake like eyes bore into me. "I'll do it." There's no hiding the contempt in my voice. He smiled.
