Maya entered Degrassi that morning, half-asleep. She and Miles had stayed up until about 3 in the morning talking, their cuddling finally bringing them to sleep.

Unfortunately, Zig had seen Miles leaving, which was exactly what she didn't want to happen. Maya hasn't seen his reaction, but assumed he was angry because he had spent all morning up in his room blaring loud rock music.

Maya spotted Miles, Tristan, and Zoe on one of the commons benches, talking. She made her way over to them. "Hey guys!"

Tristan had his mouth open and his hand up; he seemed to be in the middle of some kind of rant.

Maya giggled. "Tris, what's wrong?"

Zoe turned to Maya, looking amused. "Tristan's gained two pounds!"

Maya scoffed immediately. "Geez Tris, you had me worried!"

Miles chuckled, motioning for Maya to come sit on his lap. Maya blushed slightly, sitting on top of him and taking his shoulder. Miles put a hand on her waist, holding her there.

Zoe smiled. "You two are totally adorable."

Maya giggled, as Miles pecked her cheek.

"AHEM!" said Tristan, loudly. "So back to my weight gain crisis!"

"Tristie, we're been through this!" Zoe reminded him. "Two pounds is not a crisis!"

Tristan scoffed. "So? People are allowed to watch their figure."

"Not obsessively!" Maya piped in.

Miles sighed. "Tris, you look absolutely the same."

"Do not!" Tristan cried, in despair. "It totally went to my thighs!"

Zoe glanced at Tristan's thighs skeptically. "Hollingsworth has a point, it doesn't even show!"

"You're much skinnier than last year" Maya put in.

Tristan shuddered. "I still have nightmares of chubby redhead ninth grade Tristan."

Miles raised an eyebrow. "You're a redhead?"

Tristan grimaced. "Don't say it so loudly!"

Zoe looked impressed. "I didn't know that, I can't even tell. You dyed your eyebrows and everything."

Tristan waved a hand. "Come on Zo, who would ever forget to dye their eyebrows?"

"Probably me" Maya commented, causing Miles to chuckle.

Zoe reached to put her purse in her lap. "Hey everyone, guess what I have!"

"Weight loss tips?" Tristan asked, desperately.

"Boat shoes?" Miles questioned, amused.

"A bird!" Maya cried.

Zoe laughed lightly. "No, you sillies! I was baking at home over the weekend and I have some leftover cupcakes. I saved some for you!"

Miles looked skeptical, as he stroked Maya's side. "Are they poisoned?"

Zoe placed a cupcake tin out, frowning. "Hey, reformed bitch, remember?"

Maya giggled, nodding.

Miles frowned. "I'll pass on the cupcakes that may or may not kill me…"

"Yeah, it might ruin his diet!" Maya joked, as Zoe laughed. Miles frowned. "That is not amusing."

Zoe raised her eyebrows. "It's true! Seriously Hollingsworth, your stomach is flatter than mine."

Maya admired her boyfriend for a moment, taking in his lean muscle, before quickly pretending to be examining her nails.

"I'll pass too!" Tristan added. "I can't gain even more weight!"

Maya laughed, incredulously. "I've never seen two human beings refuse a cupcake before."

Miles shook his head. "Well arguably, I don't have human emotions."

Maya cut him off. "Babe, we've been through this. You're human."

Tristan and Zoe both laughed.

Maya and Zoe grabbed the vanilla cupcakes as Tristan looked at them longingly; he obviously wanted one. Maya nibbled the frosting as Miles rubbed her back, warming it up a bit.

Tristan was eyeing Zoe's cupcake longingly, looking at it as if he wanted to shove it into his mouth whole. Zoe grinned. "You two are missing out!"

"On what, fat and calories?" Tristan sassed.

"No, yummy vanilla goodness!" Maya shot back.

Tristan gave her a look. "You can eat whatever you want and you're still a stick."

Maya looked down.

"Hey" Miles breathed, lifting her chin gently. "I love your body."

Maya blushed, starting to smile.

Miles chuckled, his eyes falling on her lips. "You have frosting on your mouth."

Maya blushed. "Really?"

Miles leaned in to kiss the frosting off.

Maya giggled as he did this, grabbing his neck and pulling him in to kiss him passionately.

They shared a sugary sweet kiss, hearing the sound of Tristan's gag.

They ignored him. Maya dipped her finger in the cupcake frosting, holding it out to Miles. He licked the frosting off and she giggled, biting her lip.

"AHEM" came Tristan's voice. Maya was disappointed, but not as much as Miles and Zoe were.

"Really Tristie? I was going to snap a pic of them!" Zoe announced.

"Yeah, of them sucking face!" Tristan replied.

The bell rang.

Tristan groaned loudly. "Great, math. I didn't do my homework."

Zoe frowned. "Want to copy my answers?"

"Yes, please, now!"

As Zoe and Tristan exchanged notes, she saw Zig near the other commons bench, motioning her to come walk with him. Maya looked back at Miles. "See you later?"

Miles glared at Zig for a moment, before turning to Maya. "Of course. I love you, darling."

Maya smiled. "I love you too."

She kissed him quickly before hopping off his lap and making her way towards Zig.

Zig's face brightened. "Hey, I didn't think you'd actually come."

Maya gripped her backpack strap, looking confused. "Why not?"

Zig shrugged. "Well, you seem to have been blowing me off every time I've wanted to spend time with you." His tone was joking, but Maya could tell he was hurt.

She shook her head and laughed. "Well we're spending time now!"

Zig looked over Maya's shoulder. "Jealous boyfriend alert."

Maya looked around to see Miles watching them. She bit her lip and took Zig's arm. "Can we just go to the remedial room?"

Zig's eyes traveled to her hand on his arm, and she quickly removed it. "Sure."

As they began to walk, Zig turned to her. "So how are you and your boyfriend doing anyway?"

Maya's brow furrowed in bemusement. "Since when are you concerned about us?"

"Just wondering" Zig said lightly.

Maya laughed slightly. "Oh, well we're fine! Great actually."

Zig raised his eyebrows and nodded, before diverting his attention to the rubber room.

Maya was confused. "Why is Ms. Grell checking everyone's bags?"

Zig let out a breath. "Probably because of the drug rumors going around the school."

Maya nodded.

Zig's expression darkened. "And we're in the rubber room, so of course it's us who has the drugs."

Maya turned to him. "Calm down, it's only a drug check."

Zig softened slightly looking at her. "I know. It's just unfair that we're the only ones being checked."

Maya tilted her head to the side. "Well, you have a point. If they're really concerned about drugs, they should have the whole school checked."

As they made their way to the door, Maya held her bag out to Ms. Grell, who just looked at her. "Maya, you can go, I know you have nothing to do with the drugs."

Maya was taken aback. "Um…okay?" She entered the classroom and took a seat next to Grace, who was chipping her black nail polish.

She looked up from her nails. "Oh, hey Matlin."

Maya frowned. "Is Ms. Grell checking us for drugs because of those rumors going around the school?"

Grace snorted. "Obviously. You're not being checked, because there's no chance you'd have drugs."

Maya crossed her arms. "Why? Do you?"

Grace looked at her. "No, but I was checked anyway."

Maya glanced at Zig, who was getting his bag checked. "That's not fair. You shouldn't be checked just because you seem like the type to carry drugs."

Grace laughed. "I couldn't care less. But I understand, you have to defend your boyfriend."

"He. Isn't. My. Boyfriend!"

Grace smirked. "Tell that to the whole school. They all think he is."

Maya gave Grace a look as Zig made his way over to them. "Don't say that!" she hissed.

Grace just shook her head, before opening her backpack. Maya quickly examined her bracelet.

Zig looked confused. "What are you guys talking about?"

Maya bit her lip. "Uhm."

"You, Zig!" Grace announced, tossing a pen at his head.

Zig dodged the pen and gave Maya a smirk, who wasn't looking at him.

Well great, she thought.

After the period was over, Maya nearly zoomed to her locker. She needed to get to math early or else she wouldn't be able to copy Zoe's notes.

Maya gathered her books and shut her locker to see Miles walking towards her. She smiled brightly. "Hey!"

Miles glared in response, his eyes dark. Maya was surprised. She laughed nervously, grabbing her backpack strap. "Is everything…okay?"

"Oh, everything's fine!" Miles shot back, in a mock-polite tone, his eyes wide.

Maya's eyebrows lowered, knowing he was lying. "No it's not. You seem mad."

Miles laughed humorlessly. "Why would I be mad? I should be standing here happily as you continue to lie to me, shouldn't I?"

Maya sighed impatiently. "Can you just tell me what I'm supposed to have done wrong now?"

Miles continued to glare coldly at her. "Don't act all innocent. You know exactly what you're doing."

"No, I don't, actually!"

Miles; eyes flashed. "Why are you with me?"

He asked this so fast, that Maya could barely process the question. "W-what?"

"Why are you with me?"

Maya stared at him in disbelief. "Why wouldn't I be with you? I love you!"

"Oh really? Is that why you're cheating on me?"

Maya stepped towards him. "Haven't we agreed that you'd stop accusing me of ridiculous things?"

Miles shook his head. "I can't let this go, Maya. I wouldn't' accuse you of things if I didn't think they were true." He paused. "Why would you tell me you aren't ready for sex, but then go off and have it with Zig?"

Maya's mouth fell open, staring up at her boyfriend. "Excuse me? Zig and I are not having sex!"

Miles chuckled humorlessly. "Maya, I know you two are living together now. It's only to easy."

Maya opened her mouth, but Miles cut her off. "I think I've figured it out by now. You don't' want me."

Maya laughed. "Miles, that's ridiculous! I'm a virgin, you know that!"

"Yeah, not anymore" Miles scoffed.

Maya was insulted. "Wow…you really think that little of me."

"As a matter of fact, I do."

Maya looked down, hurt. "You just sound jealous and insecure."

Miles stood up straighter, looking haughty. "Me? You're mistaken, I don't get jealous."

"You obviously are, of Zig! This is jealousy!"

"How am I supposed to control the fact that you want him and not me?" Miles snapped.

Maya shook her head. "I thought you were the one person who was different, the one person who understood me! The whole school thinks I'm a slut and apparently, so do you."

"I never called you a slut."

"But you implied it!" Maya cried. "You know what, you were right! Why am I with you? You have absolutely no trust in me, you get crazy and paranoid, you scare me!"

"How do I scare you?"

Maya was close to tears, but she held them back. "Your impulsive behavior, your stupid raging parties, holding a freaking gun to Zig's head…" She backed up slightly, her lips trembling but her voice strong. "I can't. I can't anymore, Miles. I can't be with a guy who scares me so much. I feel like I'm standing by useless while you just ruin things for yourself over and over again and I can't help you. I have tried time and time again to try and fix things. I tell you not to drink, and you do it anyway. I say smoking is bad, but you don't care. You don't care about anything, Miles! Anything except Zig and I!"

Miles took a breath. He was silent for a moment. Finally, he spoke. "Well I can't be with a girl who cheats on me and lies about it."

Maya exhaled a breath she didn't even know she was holding in. Her voice was low and flat, almost emotionless. "I guess we should break up then."

Miles was silent again. When his eyes met hers, they held no emotion, nothing to convey to her how he was feeling. They just looked blank. "Fine."
