Rick and Kayla didn't break eye contact with the mysterious woman behind the fence for several moments. They didn't say a single word and stood their ground until the others made their way down. Carl opened up the first gate and went to the second to look at her. The woman touched her leg where there was blood and what Kayla saw was a bullet wound. She put her hand back on the fence and the nearby walkers noticed the scent of blood…from something alive and began turning towards her. The woman pulled out a katana and began kill approaching walkers. "Should we help her?" Carl asked his dad. Rick turned and walkers towards the gates with Kayla in tow when the woman fell over onto the ground. Two walkers approached her and were ready to dig into her, but Carl took them out. Kayla unholstered her M911 and shot the approaching walkers as Rick unlocked the gate.
Kayla, Rick, and Carl all walked out and Rick went over to the woman and Kayla and Carl went over to get the basket of formula. Kayla shot several walkers as Carl grabbed the basket and then the two rushed back over to Rick and the gate as he hauled the woman back into the prison.
Back inside, Rick took the woman over to the tables and told Carl to get a blanket and Beth to get some water and a towel. "I'll get a first aid kit." Kayla said as she rushed over to the bag on the table. She rummaged through it when Daryl's voice caught her attention. "Rick." He said. Kayla turned and saw him standing near the doorway. "Who the hell's this?" he asked, noticing the woman.
"You wanna tell us your name?" Rick questioned the woman. She said nothing. He asked her again, but she remained silent. "Yo come on in here." Daryl told the others. "Everything alright?" Rick asked. "You're gonna wanna see this." Daryl answered.
"Go ahead." Rick said to the others. "Carl, get the bag."
Kayla went over to Daryl and stood next to him as Rick talked to the woman. "We'll keep this safe and sound." He told her, holding up her katana. "Doors are all locked. You'll be safe here. And we can treat that."
"I didn't ask for your help." The woman finally spoke.
"Doesn't matter." Rick replied as he turned around and walked out. "We can't let you leave." Kayla followed Rick out and Daryl was close behind after he locked the door behind them.
Daryl led the others down to a cell in the cell block where they found Carol on the bottom bunk. Kayla's heart dropped at the sight of her as she got up and hugged Rick. A smile broke out on her face and a few tears welled up in her eyes as well. Carol then hugged Hershel as Daryl explained what happened. "Poor thing fought her way into the cell." He informed them. "Must have passed out from dehydration."
Carol's eyes found Kayla and Kayla immediately hugged her. "I am so sorry." She apologized as Carol hugged her back. "I shouldn't have left you…I should have stayed with you."
"It's alright." Carol said. "I thought you were dead too…I saw how many walkers there were…if anything you saved me."
Kayla stepped back and wiped the tears out of her eyes when Carol finally noticed the baby in Judith's arms. Then she looked at Rick, noticing that Lori wasn't there and what it meant. She instantly began to cry and so did Rick and Carl. Kayla started to tear up again when Daryl's arm went around her. She looked at him and rested her head on his shoulder as Carol took the baby from Beth to hold.
OOOOO
After the tearful reunion, Hershel, Rick, Daryl, and Kayla all went back into where the woman was. "We can tend to that wound for you." Rick said as he approached her. "Give you a little food and water and send you on your way. But you gotta tell us how you found us. And why you were carrying formula."
"The supplies were dropped by a young Asian guy… with a pretty girl." The woman informed him.
"Were they attacked?" Hershel immediately asked.
"They were taken."
"Taken by who?" Rick questioned.
"By the same son of a bitch who shot me."
"Hey these are our people." Rick reminded the woman. "You tell us what happened NOW!" Rick then grabbed her leg where the gunshot wound was and she immediately shot up, Daryl raising his crossbow in response. "Don't you ever touch me again!" the woman warned.
"Better start talking." Daryl said. "Or you're gonna have a much bigger problem than a gunshot wound."
"Daryl put the damn crossbow down!" Kayla snapped.
The woman looked at Daryl. "Find them yourself." She said. "Daryl!" Kayla hissed. "Put. It. Down."
Daryl dropped the crossbow and looked at her when Rick's voice sounded. "You came here for a reason." he pointed out. After a few moments of silence, the woman spoke up again. "There's a town." She stated. "Woodbury. About seventy-five survivors I think they were taken there."
"A whole town?" Kayla questioned.
"It's run by this guy who calls himself the Governor." The woman explained. "Pretty boy. Charming…Jim Jones type."
"He got muscle?" Daryl asked.
"Paramilitary wannabes. They have armed centrys on every wall."
"Do you know a way in?" Rick questioned.
"The place is secure from walkers, but we could slip through."
"How'd you know hot get here?"
"They mentioned a prison. Said which direction, said it was a straight shot."
After a few moments Rick spoke again. "This is Hershel and Kayla." He said. "He's the father of the girl that was taken and she is a good friend of hers as well. They'll take care of that." He looked at Daryl and then the two walked out to leave Hershel and Kayla to fix up Michonne's leg.
Kayla cleaned the wound and applied anti-biotics to it before leaving Hershel to stitch it. She was packing everything else away in the medical kit when she looked at the woman. "Judging by the M on your necklace I'll assume that's the first letter of your name." Kayla pointed out. "Now you don't look like a Mary. And you sure as hell ain't a Madison either. You don't look like a Margaret or Mildred either which leads me to believe you have an uncommon name." The woman cracked a small smile. "So what is your name? You already know mine and you've already met Hershel, Rick, and Daryl."
"You mean your boyfriend with a crossbow?" the woman questioned. Kayla chuckled. "Yeah. I'm sorry about him, but we just have a pretty close knit group."
"I've been put into worse situations." The woman said, before looking at what Hershel was doing. "Haven't we all?" Kayla retorted. "So what's your name?"
There was a pause before the woman answered. "Michonne." She answered. Kayla smiled and simply nodded before walking out of the room. She stopped by Carl who was standing on guard. She looked at the young boy who looked at her. She tipped his hat down, drawing a chuckle out of him as she left to go to the others.
Down in the cell block, Rick gathered Oscar, Alex, Axel, and everyone else to talk about the situation. It was decided Rick, Daryl, Oscar, and of course Michonne would all travel to Woodbury to find Glenn and Maggie despite Kayla's offer to go with them. Rick shot it down, wanting her to stay behind and handle things at the prison with Alex.
After they talked out the plan, Kayla helped Daryl get together all the supplies they needed. She put all the tear gas and smoke grenades into the one bag as Daryl got together all the ammunition. Once all the gear was together they carried it out to the car. When it was all loaded, Kayla pulled Daryl off to the side. "I swear to God if you don't come back alive I will kill you." She warned. Daryl looked at her and half smiled. "I'll be back, I promise." He assured her.
"If anything happens…" she began, but didn't finish her sentence.
"What?" Daryl asked.
"Just please Daryl…just don't die. "
Daryl pulled Kayla into a tight embrace. "I won't be dying anytime soon. Not unless you're waiting for me over there because that's the only Heaven I'd want to be goin' to." Kayla blushed and pulled away from him so she could kiss him. She slipped her arms around his neck and pulled herself close as he held her tight as he moved his lips with hers. "Just be safe Dixon." She said as she pulled away. "I always am." He reminded her as he kissed her once more before walking to the car. Kayla leaned against the side of the wall when Alex came and stood by her. "He'll be back." he told her. "He's capable and by the looks of it he'll fight like hell to come back to you."
"Yeah…" Kayla agreed with a smile.
"Do you think I could scare him with the whole, "You're seeing my daughter" and I'm her father thing?" Alex questioned. Kayla chuckled as the car pulled out and drove off. "I think I'm a little old for that." She said.
"Well I may have messed that part of your life up, but I promise I'll be better to you now. And you may be in your thirties, but as far as I'm concerned you're still my little girl." Alex reminded her. Kayla looked at him and smiled. "Thanks Alex." She thanked him, still not ready to call him Dad.
