Alfred hobbled into his house around midnight. The president wanted to talk about urgent matters and he had to attend because he was considered an important figure they needed to make decisions. Unfortunately the elephant tranquilizer hadn't fully worn off enough for him to drive himself home, but the guys in black were nice enough to give him a ride. The first thing Alfred wanted to do was go to bed and finally sleep off the built up boredom and left over tranquilizer, but as he walked by the living room he noticed the T.V was on and remembered his brother was still there.

"Shit," he hissed under his breath. 'I left Mattie here alone, and I pretty much missed out my last day to be with him!'

Walking over to the couch, Alfred found Matthew asleep and cuddling with Kumajiro. The two looked cute in the dim light and Alfred couldn't help but smile like a school girl at the two. Not wanted to disturb them, he simply threw a blanket over them and went to turn off the T.V, only to pause and look at the screen slightly confused. A Canadian news station was on the screen, and when Alfred turned to pick the remote up off the coffee table, he saw that the table was semi-covered in sheets of paper.

With his interest now peaked, Alfred picked up the papers to find they were all notes of current events in Canada. 'Why was he taking notes,' Alfred wondered. 'Sure, it's not unusual for a nation to do this, but… he hasn't seemed too in tuned with his nation side…' The American was still confused, but felt too tired to deal with it, so instead he simply turned off the T.V and went to bed.

Matthew woke up and remembered how he had fallen asleep catching up on the last four years that he had missed. The first thing he realised after that was he didn't know what to do with himself. He was himself again, yes, but he debated if he should tell anyone yet. Every fiber of him was telling him to go upstairs, wake up his brother and give him a hug, but then there was part of him that was against it. He was pulled from his sleepy thoughts when he felt Kumadachi move under him and yawn.

"Morning," he whispered as he sat up off the bear. As he stood and stretched Kuma turned to look at him.

"Who are you?"

Matthew stopped mid-stretch and frowned. "Seriously? Isn't it a little early to start this?" Kumajiro blinked a few times as if still waiting for the right answer. "I'm Canada," he said with a sigh.

Kuma yawned then curled back up in his spot. "I know. Just checking." With a sigh, Matthew decided on making breakfast. "Welp, let's make pancakes!"

-OwO-

Alfred woke up to the sweet smell of cooking batter, and looked at the digital clock on his bed side table. It was 8:38 and he debated about getting up before he remembered that Matthew had to be at the airport at ten something or others.

The thought of having to part with his brother soon made him both want to stay in bed and get up, but after a small mental battle he was up and going downstairs towards the sweet scent. The sleepy American was almost to the bottom of the stairs when he heard two voices conversing.

"Kuma, should I use cinnamon or chocolate chips?" Alfred recognized Matthew's voice, although he thought he sounded quitter than yesterday.

"I can't eat chocolate," was the reply he heard from Kumajiro's voice.

"Oh right! Sorry about that. I forgot about that Kumarowrow!" 'Wait, did Matthew just get Kuma's name wrong?' Alfred thought. Something was off about this conversation and now it was pulling at Alfred's mental strings. 'Did I miss something yesterday?'

The only way to find out was to confront the suspect, "GOOD MORNING, MATTI-" just as he began down again, the American was face first on the kitchen floor. "Shhhhhhhhhhh- AAHAHAHAHAHAOUCH!"

"Oh my gosh! Are you ok Alfred?!" Alfred looked up to see the young Canadian kneeling down to him with a worried face and a spatula in his hand. As Alfred looked at him, he couldn't help but feel there was something different about Matthew.

"Yeah," he replied in a curious tone. "I just missed a step on the way down." 'What is it that is so off about him right now,' Alfred questioned in his mind. After a minute of thinking, Alfred was brought back to the floor by Matthew's voice.

"Why are you staring at me like that? Are you sure you're ok?"

Alfred snapped back to reality and felt a little awkward that he had been staring.

"Yeah. Just still tired I guess." Matthew rolled his eyes and returned to the pancakes, and Alfred got off the floor. Whatever was bugging him, he would figure out soon enough he thought as he sat down at the table and waited for breakfast.

-OwO-

The whole time he flipped pancakes and mixed batter, Matthew could feel Alfred's eyes examining him. He shouldn't have expected less from his basically twin brother, if he could even still call them that, to notice something off. As he flipped a few pancakes onto the stack he had made, he couldn't help but start to feel intimidated by Alfred's suspicion. Why he was even hiding that he remembered everything, he didn't know. It would make everyone glad to know that he was back, right?

Matthew could picture most of them crying at the sight of him. Then the answer came to him. He wanted them to notice it themselves that he had his memories back, just like how he wanted everyone to notice he was there in a meeting room on their own.

"What kind of pancakes ya make'in dude?" Alfred asked startling him a bit.

"Oh! Uh… c-cinnamon. This is the last batch," he answered slightly nervous. 'How long will it take for Al to notice?' He wondered to himself as he flipped the last few onto the stack. 'Not too long I hope.'

-OwO-

The ride to the airport was surprisingly quite as Alfred didn't want to bring up Matthew leaving, Matthew not wanting to say something that would give him away and Kumajiro sleeping in the back seat.

They were about fifteen minutes away from the airport when Alfred decided to speak up. "So, what do you think you'll do after you go home from Britain's?"

The question caught Matthew off guard, but he answered quickly. "I don't know. Maybe go home and try to figure stuff out." It wasn't like he was lying, because that was honestly the only plan he had at the moment. "I promised Francis that I would go see him again, so there is that I guess."

The car fell back into its silence for a minute. "You think you would want to come see me again too?" Alfred asked. Although he didn't look away from the road when he asked, the emotion in his voice said that all he wanted was to be with his brother again.

Matthew smiled at his brother's awkwardness. "Yeah. It shouldn't be a problem," he answered. "As long as we don't play catch again." The words slipped out under his breath and Alfred heard them. The car slowed as the gears began turning in his head. 'We never played catch these last few days,' he thought. 'In fact, we only ever really played the one time.'

"You ok Al?" Matthew asked. Alfred looked over to the young boy and nodded a bit. They could see the airport and a driver behind them honked to remind Alfred that they weren't going the speed limit.

Once the car was parked, the three got out and made their way to the terminal to get Matthew's things checked. Alfred being the genius he was had already bought the ticket online and printed it off that morning before they left. All that was left to do was convince the guards that Kumajiro was only there to say good-bye and take Matthew to the London gate.

Once they found their gate, Matthew turned around and looked at Kuma and Alfred.

"I guess I'll see you both later." Kumajiro went up to Matthew and the two hugged for a minute until Alfred cut in.

"Alright you two, enough with the bear hug!" The two separated and Matthew stood back up. He and Alfred looked at each other in silence until Matthew turned and began to walk towards the gate. Again he said something under his breath and Alfred heard it.

"Take care of Kumatori for me."

Almost as though it was a reflex, Alfred reached out and grabbed Matthew's arm. If Alfred was right, then everything that morning would have made sense. Pulling Matthew to a nearby chair, Alfred forced him to sit and got on a knee to look Matthew face to face. Matthew's blond hair covered his eyes, but Alfred still looked to where they were. Taking a shaky breath Alfred calmly asked, "Mattie. Do you remember?"

Matthew clenched his teeth and looked away, and Alfred stood placing both hands on Matthew's shoulders. As he tightened his grip he asked again and more seriously, "Matthew. Do you remember?" Matthew stayed quite as Alfred's hands trembled with their grip.

Finally, Matthew let out a breath of held air and looked up at his brother. He couldn't help but to smile at Alfred figuring it out, and calmly in his old whispery voice said, "Hey, Al."

Everything went cold inside of Alfred as those words were said. Tears began to fall from his eyes as he figured out what had looked so different about Matthew that morning. His eyes were more alive and reflected the years of his life as a nation. They were the violet eyes of Canada, the eyes of his brother who he had lost unexpectedly four years ago. They were Matthew's eyes and he was right there in front of him.

Slowly Alfred wrapped his arms around his brother and held him close. "Mattie," he whispered as his body began to shake. "You're back. I finally have my brother back."

Matthew hugged back as Alfred cried into his shoulder and tears fell from his own eyes as well. "It's been a while, eh?"
