Back to School, OVA Chapter 1

A week passed after Tomoki's birthday. Summer break was coming to a close, which heralded the return of school. Only one more day of break remained.

"Dude, how do we school!? I just don't know!" H panicked. He had never been to school before.

"It's no big deal. You just show up in the morning and write random crap down." Grim encouraged. "Hey, wanna get some ice cream? I kinda told the others we would meet them at the parlor."

"You dick. You know I hate ice cream. It's just too cold…" H shivered. "I have sensitive teeth, you know."

"Whatever. You and your weak teeth are going to the parlor with me. They're expecting us." Grim explained as he hopped up onto the tandem bike the two of them bought. He patted the empty seat.

"Fine, but i'm only getting a smoothie." H muttered.

Grim and H arrived at the ice cream parlor in town. They walked into the building and saw the rest of the gang in a rounded booth.

"Yo! There's my two favorite jackasses!" Tomoki exclaimed. Sohara hit him lightly upside the head.

"Hey, guys. You all ready for school?" Grim said while he gave Tomoki a bro-hug.

"Eh, not really." Tartarus mumbled. "We're freaking all powerful robots. School is useless."

"Not to me!" Astraea cried. "I learn a lot at school."

"Of course you do. You weren't smart to begin with." Hecate teased.

"Neither are you!" Astraea retorted.

"I know…" Hecate whined.

"So, how's Thanatos feeling about it? Scylla? Gamma? C'mon guys, talk to me." Grim pleaded.

"Thanatos is feeling confident. I can school." He remarked in the third person.

"Uh, heh. Thanatos, you don't school, you go to school." Sohara corrected.

"Whatever." He sat back in his seat.

"Yeah, i'm with Thanatos on this. I'm feeling pretty good about it." Charybdis said. "I'm pretty smart, and i'd be great at P.E., or whatever it's called."

"Well, you'd be good at P.E., for sure. I don't know about the other…" Mikako sneered. He responded by sticking his tongue out at her.

"Hah! You got burned!" Gamma threw her hands in the air and pointed at him. Harpy laughed.

"Is there swimming in school?" Scylla inquired nervously.

"Sort of. It's part of the P.E. experience. Or you could join the swim club…" Sugata answered. "Are you interested?"

"Not really, the water isn't my forte."

Grim laughed really hard before saying softly. "Ahh, nice reference, Scylla."

She chuckled. "I knew someone would get it."

"But is it hard? What if I look like an idiot?" H wondered.

"You'll be fine. You have that pretty boy look to you. You'll make the girls swoon." Nymph presumed.

"Yeah, dude. Don't worry. If Ikaros survived school, so can you." Tomoki said. Ikaros looked at him. He returned the gaze and smiled. "I didn't mean any offense, of course."

"None… Taken?" Ikaros asked.

"Yeah, that's what you say."

"Onii-San, when can I go to school!?" Chaos conjectured.

"Chaos, as far as human aging goes, you're like ten. That's too young to go to a high school." Tomoki said.

"Aww, but I don't age anyway! I want to go to school!" She pouted.

"Alright, but no trouble. I'll clear things up with the attendance office this evening."

"Yay!" Chaos flung herself at Tomoki and hugged him. He grinned and chuckled.

"So, are we ready to order?" Sohara asked them.

A resounding yes was the answer. "Okay, tell me what you want and i'll get them." Sohara ordered.

After the treats, they went back home. Grim and Tomoki decided to "coach" the others on school life.

"Tartarus! Here's the scenario. I'm a social studies teacher, and I hate know-it-alls. I ask, 'What year did the first emperor of Japan take office?'. What do you say?" Tomoki drilled.

"Well, I would say 'Why don't you tell me, Mr. teacher." Tartarus said sarcastically.

"No! That's how you fail! Do you want to look like an idiot!?"

"I dunno. I have friends, so it doesn't really matter."

"You're missing the point!" Grim intervened. "School is about learning and being social. Put yourself out there!" Grim sat down tiredly. "Jeez, i'm starting to sound like a teacher myself…"

"C'mon, guys, you asked us to help, so listen up!" Tomoki begged.

"This is bullcrap. Who cares?" Tartarus crossed his arms.

"Fine! See if we care if you get sent to the Prez's secret room…" Grim smirked.

Tartarus looked worried. "What?"

"Yeah, she takes care of all the bad boys and girls who don't listen. It's one thing if you actually care or not, but when you don't… That's when it gets fun." Tomoki joined in the prank.

"Seriously? You guys'll help me, right? Right?" Tartarus stood up from his seat.

"Nope. Tomo and I are good little boys, we do no wrong." Grim and Tomoki looked devilish.

"Fine! I'll try, but don't expect much. Also, try to keep me out of the Prez's way!" He grabbed Grim's arm.

"We'll see." Tomoki teased.

"Bedtime! Let's brush our teeth!" Nymph announced from the kitchen.

"Good night, Tartarus… Sweet dreams…" Grim walked away with Tomoki, stifling a laugh.

"Screw you guys…" Tartarus grumbled.

In the morning during breakfast, Tomoki passed out the school uniforms.

"I don't want to wear this… I'll look like i'm going to a funeral." Charybdis griped.

"That's too bad. If you don't wear it, you get detention." Sohara warned.

"Dude!" Tartarus yelped. "You don't wanna get sent there! Trust me, Grim and Tomo told me!"

Charybdis sighed. "Fine."

"I think it's kinda cute." Scylla checked herself out in a mirror. "It says; I'm innocent, but I can handle myself."

"I think that's just your bad fashion sense talking." Thanatos sneered.

"Oh, ha ha. Very funny." She countered. "Says the guy who would wear dirty clothes and flip flops if he had his choice."

He stuck his tongue out. She did it back.

The guys changed in Tomoki's room, and The girls in Nymph's. Once their lunches were made, they were ready to leave.

When everyone piled up outside, Grim changed into his Demonic form and lifted Sohara onto his shoulder.

"What're you doing! Normal people don't change into a hyper-powerful demon monster to get to school!" Tomoki shouted.

"Calm down. We saved the world. None of us are normal." He replied.

"He has a point... " Nymph said under her breath next to Tomoki.

"Fine, let's fly to school…"

The men transformed and flew into the clouds. The females unfurled their wings and followed suit.

"Let's go, Master." Ikaros said. She lifted him off the ground and held him in her arms. They rocketed into the clouds.

"The sky is so pretty!" Sohara yelled from a distance on GrimLock's back.

Tomoki revelled in the morning sun's heat. He decided to be glad that he and his friends weren't normal.

At lightning speed, the Angeloids soared through the Sorami skies.

What would usually take them twenty minutes only took them two. They landed at the school door. Mikako, Sugata, and Oregano were waiting for them. They waved.

Several people saw the massive Angeloids and stared in wonder. They ran inside.

The males turned back into their regular forms. And jogged to the others. Ikaros landed with Tomoki.

"You guys ready?" Tomoki grinned.

A cross between disappointment and excitement was the answer.

Mikako opened the door. Once everyone stepped inside, all activity in the hall ceased.

"It's them!" A lone student shrieked. A stampede of students and teachers alike swarmed Tomoki, Sugata, Mikako, Sohara, Ikaros, Nymph, and Astraea. Once hoisted on shoulders, they were paraded around the hall way.

"Heroes!"

"You guys are awesome!"

"You saved Sorami!"

A chorus of shouts and cheers was all that could be heard.

The rest of the Angeloids stood around on the fringe of the mob.

"Aww, why am I not part of that?" Chaos asked longingly.

"You just got here. As far as people are concerned, no one knows you." Grim replied. "Anyway, I've got a plan…"

"What is it?" H inquired.

"We are gonna get popular!" He pumped his fist.

"That's not a plan. That's a goal." Harpy muttered.

"Whatever. Anyway, i've been thinking about this anyway, but I feel now is a good time to bring it up. Let's start a band!" Grim said.

"Seriously? That sounds awesome!" Hecate squealed.

"Ooh, uhh, I forgot to mention. It would just me me and the guys." Grim admitted.

"What!? That's stupid, we would be awesome in a band!" Scylla argued. "C'mon, don't be like that!"

"Sorry. It's just guys." Grim said.

Thanatos stuck his tongue out at Scylla.

"Dude, when should we start? Who's playing what? Do we even have equipment?" Charybdis wondered.

"Well, H has a nice voice, so he would sing. You and Thanatos are good at guitars. Tartarus would play piano, and I would play the drums."

"Aww, why am I the piano?" Tartarus whined.

"Don't play dumb, we know Nymph has been teaching you."

"Shut up." He blushed.

"Also, we do have equipment in the band room, and we would start right now!" Grim raised his hands with excitement.

"What about class?" H asked nervously.

"Forget it. We're all powerful androids. School can wait. Right now, it's about popularity!" Grim replied. "To the band room! Sorry girls, you're on your own."

The guys skipped off arm in arm to the band room as the girls watched them go with disappointment.

Tomoki and the others were in cooking class. They were working together in a group project to make a giant cake.

"Hey, where are the others?" Tomoki asked Ikaros.

"I do not know." She said.

"I think they just went away after that crowd thing." Sohara added.

"Yeah, I don't think they were involved in that. Oh well, it's died down now, so…"

All of a sudden, Grim and the guys busted through the window with instruments. Once they landed, they played a song.

"Crap, this sounds like crap!" H yelled.

"I know! Maybe we should have thought ahead!" Charybdis replied loudly.

Despite knowing they sucked horribly, they continued to play the awful sounding music.

"Seriously, guys, what the heck!" Tomoki exasperated.

"It's just an experiment! Nothing to worry about!" Tartarus said.

The teacher leaped in front of the band. "To detention for disrupting class! Now!"

They shuffled out of the room in shame.

Once in the detention room, they sat down in the chairs. Mikako walked in the room with a massive yard stick.

"Welcome to detention, boys!"

They all screamed.

Gamma paced the lunch room the lunch room with an equally distraught Harpy behind her.

"So, any plans?" Gamma asked Scylla.

"Yeah. We pull our shirts down so our cleavage shows."

"No! That's the easy way to popularity. There has to be some sport to it, after all."

"Maybe we could form… A band!" Hecate shouted.

"Are you stupid?" Harpy angrily demanded. Hecate only shrugged.

"I've got it! We'll start a club!" Chaos said. "It's for popular girls only, so when the popular girls flock to it, we'll technically be popular!... You know what, never mind. That's lame… This is harder than I thought…"

"Let's just join the band wagon and hang out with Ikaros and Tomoki. They're like, the most popular people in the school." Oregano sighed. "All in favor?"

Everyone raised their hands.

After school, everyone met outside the door.

"So, how did you guys like school?" Tomoki asked warmly.

Grim and the other guys looked bedraggled and tired.

"I don't wanna talk about it…" Grim mumbled.

"We had so much fun in the detention room, didn't we, boys?" Mikako snidely remarked. They only groaned.

"So, how do you guys feel about it?" Tomoki gestured to the girls.

"I guess it was okay. Kind of boring, there wasn't much interaction between us." Harpy said.

"But it wasn't bad, right?"

"I suppose not."

"Good!"

The next day, they made their way back to school. Today was introduction day for P.E.

"Okay, our first unit of P.E. will be self defense. Understand?" The gym teacher shouted.

"No…" Was the resounding answer.

"Good! Now, I need a volunteer! Anyone? You, there!" He pointed at Grim. "Come here, son, you'll be my assistant in today's fighting lesson!"

"I think you shouldn't do that. He's a really good fighter." Tomoki said timidly.

"Oh, c'mon. He can't be that good! C'mere!" Grim walked over to the teacher and got in a fighting stance.

"Okay, i'm gonna come at you, and when I do, you do what you feel is right! After, i'll tell you how you can improve!" He charged Grim.

Once he was in range, Grim low-kicked him in the shin and punched him straight in the sternum, throwing the teacher against the wall.

"Hot damn, this kid's a natural!" He said woozily from the other side of the gym. "Everyone pick a sparring partner!"

As the other class mates were grouping up, Grim and H decided to pair.

"Dude, this is elementary." H said.

"I know. We should be teaching them!"

"Why don't we?"

Grim grinned. "I like your thinking."

They got in their stances. H rushed Grim with lightning speed.

In that moment, Grim transformed into his Demonic form and raised his arms in defense. H's swords flew out like a whip.

They fought each other with vigor and absolute power. The gym shook with their combined might.

"C'mon, guys, really!" Tomoki was really mad.

"I will stop them, Master." Ikaros said. She unfurled her wings and sent forth several Artemis missiles at them.

They blocked somewhat but took substantial damage.

The whole gym was literally disintegrated. the open sky shined down on the straggling students.

"DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?! DETENTION! NOW!" The gym teacher wailed.

Grim, H, and Ikaros walked themselves down to the detention room. This time, Mikako showed up in an army uniform.

A few weeks went by, each day very eventful. Nearly every day someone got sent to the detention room.

"You guys are working me to the bone." Mikako stated. "So many detentions in just three weeks."

"I know…" Grim murmured tiredly. "At least the band is getting better."

"Agreed. I'm almost done writing up some lyrics." H mentioned.

Nymph entered the kitchen. "Are you guys hungry? I was thinking about ordering take out."

"Do your thing. We're busy."

"Doing what?"

"Working on the band."

"Oh, well i'm gonna order from Remi Gio's Italian restaurant."

"Hey, dude. I think I just got us a gig down at the pavilion at the beach." H said.

"Are you serious?" Grim stood up.

"Yeah. The owner said he listened to us once and we could get an actual after school job. We would basically perform for two hours a day for four thousand yen."

"That's awesome! Do it!" Grim jumped with joy.

"What's up?" Thanatos and the other guys walked in.

"We got a gig!"

They all high fived.

Later that night, they went to the pavilion and set up their equipment.

"Thanks for coming, guys. It's nice to know we have people in the audience that know us." Charybdis said.

"No problem! It's nice to see you guys being active!" Tomoki spoke for the whole group.

"Okay, we gotta go. It's time."

"Kay, see you later!"

During their performance, Ikaros and Tomoki sat with each other and talked the rest of the night.

"They're pretty good!" Tomoki exclaimed.

"I agree." Ikaros replied.

Yes, this was a long OVA chapter, and no, it doesn't have much relevance to anything. It just seemed like fun to make up a couple misadventures. That's all I have to say. Thanks for reading!
