Shout out to Phevetop! Happy Birthday! :)
"Heh, what the fuck are you going to do, Steph the Slayer?" Jane snickered in a mocking tone. "You don't even have a weapon!" she added, standing up.
"I don't need a weapon," I chuckled, it turning into a giggle then a complete laugh. My head tilted back before tilting to the side, a crazy smile lighting my face. The ripped open skin on my cheek felt sticky, some of the still flowing blood drying.
I couldn't tell Jane's expression due to her mask, but her stance was stiff. I began to circle her, Ben limping over to Jeff before tumbling to the floor beside him. Ben let out a gust of air, a choked whimper falling from his lips unintentionally. I circled Jane, rage and blood lust filling my vision. How dare she. Kiss my Jeff, nearly kill my best friend and then try to kill me? The audacity!
Jane giggled, twirling her knife in her hand as she approached. I continued to circle, Jeff struggling in his seat as Ben tried his hardest to untie his bonds. Before I realized it, Jane lunged. We both tumbled to the ground Jane's knife slamming down. I knocked her arm to the side, her knife's blade hitting the ground beside my head. I lifted my leg, kicking her off of me before springing to my feet once more. I needed that knife out of her hand... Then, an idea spilled into my mind. There was only one way for me to get her to drop her cover.
I twisted around, circling Jane once more. I had to get close to her to do this... but it was the only way. I kicked the chair I had been sitting in, in between us. Then smiled, tauntingly at her. She snorted, lifting her head as she laughed. Her voice was slightly muffled due to her mask.
"You think a simple metal chair in between you and I will save you?" she laughed. "Wrong move."
She ran forward, jumping onto the chair, lunging towards me. Her knife was lifted, preparing to drag itself across my throat. I slouched to the slide as she slid to a stop. Cherishing my seconds, I lifted the chair, throwing it at her. I giggled, for a moment feeling like a wrestler, using a chair. In all honesty, it was affective. The metal collided with Jane, knocking her feet out from under her. I used that moment of shock to approach her, her knife stabbing towards me from reflex. I hissed, pulling my hand back due to the now stinging pain.
"Hey, Jane?" Jeff called from his seat, Ben still working on his bindings.
Jane's eyes locked onto Ben, her chest rising and falling quicker as she realized Jeff would soon be free. And that would be the end of her. Twisting her head, her eyes focused on me, then at Ben, trying to decide who to attack. If she attacked me, Ben would be able to finish, freeing Jeff. If she attacked Ben, that would give me an open. She was screwed. But I wasn't finished. I suppose she would rather face me, than Jeff, because she lunged straight for the already wounded Ben. He gave a yelp as she tackled him to the ground, quickly turning to attack my advance.
That one moment her eyes were on me, Ben leaned up, biting on to Jane's arm. She hissed, lifting her knife over his head, prepared to slam it down on top of his head. But that's when I did the one thing I knew she wouldn't be able to take. I ripped her mask off of her face, throwing it over to the tub of water. It felt like time stopped as the three of us stared at Jane's now visible face, Jeff's eyes haunted as he relived old memories it appeared. He seemed the least shocked of us all.
Jane's face was burnt, unlike Jeff's. It was a crusty, muddy brown color, looking like if you were to stroke her cheek pieces would fly off. Almost like rust, in a way. Her eyes were mere pinpricks at the moment, a ghastly black. Possibly dark brown? I couldn't be sure. Her charred lips were cracked and splitting, rows of rotting teeth laying behind them. Her nose was nearly unidentifiable, a small bump on her face. You could see the hair line, which showed that Jane's hair, was in fact a wig. Her face appeared to be horror struck as she stared around, shocked. Ben's face, although swollen, was twisted in disgust.
"Ewww," he mumbled, physically shivering. Ahh you gotta love the blunt, smartass elf.
A shriek flew from Jane's mouth as she tried to hide her face, nearly galloping to the tub of water to find her mask. This was my chance. I ran up, grabbing her neck with my hand, and shoving her face under the water. She began to flail, much like Ben had, and I couldn't help but smile. Karma is a bitch. As she flailed, she dropped her knife, it falling into the water.
"Shit," I growled, as she convulsed.
Suddenly, she threw all of her weight back on me, sending us both tumbling to the floor. Her wig had unattached itself from her scalp, it now floating on top of the tub of water. Single strands of hair spotted her singed scalp, water dripping from their split ends. Her eyes were wide, filled with horror as she locked eyes with Jeff, the one person she most certainly didn't want to see her like this. She dropped to her knees, her hands covering her face, her shoulder rising as she quietly sobbed.
A slight pang of pity ran through me at this sight, and I didn't even realize Ben had released Jeff. Jeff was now standing, walking over to a soaked and humiliated Jane. He knelt down in front of her, a blank expression on his face. His eyes were hard, his bloody wrists barely showing due to his hands placed into his hoodie's pocket. Jane peeked up at him, her sobs cut short.
"I tried to make you beautiful," he mumbled. A slight pang of jealousy coursed through me, and honestly, I didn't know what to make of this. "But it went wrong... it all went wrong. I tried to make it up to you," he murmured, his dark hair falling down into his face. "But now I am. I'm going to make it up to you Jane, what I did," he nodded, causing my heart to shatter.
My jaw dropped as I stared at the sight before me, Ben a mirror of me. "But Jeff... psycho whore," Ben feebly mumbled.
Jeff ignored Ben, and me as Jane stared up at him. She tilted her head, hope filling her eyes. It disgusted me, even though I held a small amount of pity for the girl.
"Just close your eyes," Jeff purred, leaning closer to her.
Tears gathered, and quickly trickling down my cheeks as I felt the strongest wave of rejection in my life. Sorrow, anger, hatred, betrayal, all surging through me at once. Jane smiled, shutting her eyes, leaning towards Jeff, her lips puckered.
"I should have done this a long time ago," Jeff smiled, mere inches from her.
Suddenly, there was a gasp, then a sound of liquid hitting the ground below. Jeff's hand was extended, his knife's hilt the only thing showing, the blade now plunged inside of Jane. He pulled it out, only to stab into her again, as she fell onto her back.
"Go to sleep."
Please review! One chapter left. Possibly an epilogue? Not sure yet. We'll see haha.
