Chapter 25

"What's that noise?" Steve asked as he entered the main room where Natasha and Clint were on a couch, Thor had filled a love-seat, Bruce occupied the end of Natasha and Clint's couch, and Rhodey was leaning against a wall nearby cringing at the loud crashes from the workshop.

"Tony finished his metal object noise amplifier." Bruce said from the end of the couch with his hands to his ears.

"I'll shut him up." Rhodey finally gave in after the hundredth CLANG!

IN THE WORKSHOP, THE ALL MIGHTY WORKSHOP, THE MECHANIC MAKES NOISE TOOONIIGGHHTTT... (lion king line break)

"TONY!" Rhodey hollered over the noise, coming slowly towards his friend, who was wearing sound proof earbuds.

Tony turned around when he felt a hand on his shoulder and flipped his machine off. "WHAT!?" He still had on the earbuds.

"Take those off." Rhodey motioned to his ears.

He took them off and looked back over at the large machine. "If my calculations are correct, and honestly they always are, this metal creates a sound similar to that of a HYDRA gun's metal surface."

"You think HYDRA brought it in here?" Rhodey looked unbelievably at the metal.

"I don't know, I mean... According to the security cameras, one second it wasn't here and then, poof! It's here. Who else would have the resources to pull one over on Jarvis? I know we thought it could be the guys who came in here when I was alone, but those guys didn't leave anything behind." Tony explained, grabbing the metal and holding it out for Rhodey to see.

"So HYDRA hacked your cameras?" Rhodey asked, hoping he was following his genius friend's thoughts.

"Yes. But they also got into the building when we were here." Tony said, a bit of an upset glance towards the door in realization. "It wasn't HYDRA. The person was in the tower, that's how they hacked Jarvis." He looked around to all the air ducts and entrances. "They didn't hack him, Jarvis listened to them because they have clearance." Tony's eyes snapped back to Rhodey, who was just as shocked as him.

"You think one of them..." Rhodey motioned to the stairs leading to the main room. "They brought this metal in? Why? It's pointless." Rhodey said with a shocked look at the metal.

"I don't know." Tony looked closely at it. Is it explosive?, which would be the only reason for it to be of use.

"You and I are both thinking of the same person, aren't we?" Rhodey finally said.

"I'll get Jarvis to call her down." Tony responded with angrily gritted teeth.

"YOU THINK I DID WHAT?!" Natasha yelled at Tony, wrapping her fingers around his wrist and twisting it behind his back in a storm of rage.

"You are the only person qualified to trick my AI. And you're inside the tower at all times, aside from missions. It makes the most sense." Tony explained with a puppy dog look at his hand, which Natasha answered by tightening her grip, then letting go all at once.

"Ah! Oh my gosh! Son-uv-a-bitch!" Tony grabbed his arm away, rubbing it sadly.

This wasn't the first time Natasha had been accused by someone she trusted. She didn't do it, but now she had to convince Tony she didn't.

"I'll help you figure out who brought it in." She grabbed the nearest Stark Pad and typed in code after code for what seemed like a millennia.

"What is she doing?" Rhodey mumbled with a confused glance at Tony.

Tony shrugged. "Ask the spider."

"Would you two shut up and give me a second?" Natasha asked annoyedly, with a smile hidden in her gaze.

"Tony-" She began, but Tony grabbed the pad the second she spoke.

He dropped the pad and kicked it across the room into the cement walls, where it shattered.

"-gonna kill him." Tony said after a second, a sorry glance over at Natasha since he accused her.

"Obidiah Staine." Natasha whispered to Rhodey after realizing he had no idea what they'd found out. "The metal's explosive, same stuff Bruce and Tony removed from the arc reactor."

Tony scrambled over to his Hulk Buster suit and ran an analysis to ready it for battle.

"He's taunting him." Rhodey deduced quietly to the Black Widow, who nodded in agreement.

"This time he's dead." Natasha walked away from Rhodey and went up the steep workshop stairs, followed by Rhodey and Tony.

After the whole team is caught up about what the crap is going on and who they're gonna demolish... and oh yeah they're in the quinjet... cause I'm just that cool... keep reading...

"How do you know he's there?" Tony asked over the comms about the location of where Obidiah was hiding out in a circle of mountains surrounding a huge lake.

"He's not hiding. One facial recognition program was all it took." Natasha said simply, steering the quinjet towards a large opening in the rocks with a hanger door. He expecting us... Natasha told herself.

AND THEN A GUY NAMED CLIFFHANGER WALKED UP AND KILLED US ALL...
