Here's the last chapter. Oh, the bittersweet feeling .
One month later...
Ever since Sauron was defeated, Mirkwood had turned from evil place to a beautiful, glittering green forest. The Woodland Realm was in merry. Because it was finally the wedding day of Legolas and Arianna. The bride was being dressed in her room, with the help of Arwen who came to celebrate her wedding.
"There, you look so stunning," Arwen said after she attached a gold cape to her friend's shoulder.
Arianna looked herself in the mirror. She was wearing a white long gown with floral pattern and a gold cape. There was a gold crown attached to her head as well.
"You look so beautiful," Arwen complimented, "I am so happy that this finally happens. Legolas and King Thranduil will be so blessed to have a beautiful lady like you."
"Hannon le, Arwen," replied the Sky Elf with slight blush.
"Are you nervous?"
"Yeah...a bit," Arianna said with shaky voice, "Actually...a lot."
The Queen of Gondor laughed in response, "Do not fear, Arianna. It's going to be alright. For you will have a wonderful husband and bright future waiting for you. You deserve it, for everything you had been through."
"Thank you," said Arianna with a long sigh, "If only my father could be here to see me like this..."
Arwen was about to say something when somebody walked into the room. It turned out to be Galadriel. Both Elf-ladies were surprised, and they quickly bowed to Lady of Light.
"My Lady," Arianna greeted as she bowed down.
"I come to celebrate your wedding, my dear Arianna," Galadriel said as she walked in further, "There cannot be any happier moment for me right now."
"Thank you."
Arwen decided to leave so the other two could talk in private. Galadriel had something in her hands, a wooden small chest.
"I believe this belongs to you," she said.
She opened the chest to reveal a feather. Arianna recognised it to be the same feather she saw back in Lothlórien. However there was something different. That feather was white, not golden anymore.
"This feather is still here..." Arianna gaped, "Why...?"
"Because your father wished so," said Galadriel, "Fawnhir already knew that something like this might happen. So he left behind his last gift to you. A pair of Wings born purely from a father's love, bestowed in this one feather."
Arianna just couldn't believe what she heard. She placed her finger on the soft feather, and could sense the magic within it.
"Father thought of everything, did he not?" she whispered with a trickle of tear.
"He loved you greatly, and tried his best to provide your necessities. With this, you can reach the sky once again."
The Sky Elf gently reached for the chest, and closed off the lid, "Thank you, my Lady. But I shall not return to the sky."
Galadriel looked at her with sad eyes.
"I...know that perhaps nobody could understand. If I remember what happened to my kin, I just cannot bring myself to," added Arianna.
"You feel you cannot go back to the sky, because your father is unable to," concluded Galadriel.
"It may be. My place is right here, and on the ground shall I stay forever. And not to mention, it would be unfair for Legolas."
"You are free to catch your dream, even if you are bound to someone you love," Galadriel said as she held Arianna's shoulder.
After that, the Sky Elf bride walked out from her room to the garden. There, Legolas was already waiting. He was dressed in golden shirt and trousers, and a beige tunic. As soon as he saw his beloved one, his eyes were glittering with happiness.
"You look...so beautiful," stuttered Legolas in amazement.
"Are you sure? I think I look older with this hair colour," Arianna said as she brushed her silver hair.
"No, no, you are more beautiful than any flower that ever blooms on this Earth," Legolas said as he walked closer and circled his hands around her waist, "My greatest blessing. I have been waiting for this day, for a long time. The day you finally belong to me."
"Law, Legolas. Gerich veleth nîn, uin menui govanned," said the Sky Elf.
"Cí ú-govannon le, cuil nîn neithar aen," replied Legolas.
"I should be the one saying that," Arianna said, "This is an important change in my life. Had I not met you and made this choice, I cannot imagine what my life would be."
"As I said before, you are different. I do not think I can love any other woman as much as I love you," the Prince said as he brushed her cheek.
"Excuse me," one Elf servant approached them, "My Lord and my Lady, they are waiting."
Both Legolas and Arianna smiled happily to each other. Legolas then extended his right palm, "Now, shall we go?"
Arianna nodded and reached for that warm hand. However, as she happened to turn around, she saw something. There were the spirits of Fawnhir, Elanor and Ezio standing right before her. They were dressed in white robes and White Wings proudly spread from their back. Arianna was stunned for a second. The three spirits smiled warmly toward the Sky Elf Lady. Those smiling faces told Arianna everything.
Fawnhir, Elanor, Ezio, and the rest of Sky Elf kin were not suffering anymore. Nor that they would leave her side, they knew she was living a happy life on Earth. That relieved Arianna's heart a lot. They vanished from sight a second later.
"Arianna...?" asked Legolas worriedly.
His beloved one just shook her head, "Let us go."
Arianna finally reached for Legolas' hand. As the couple made their way to the wedding hall, Arianna silently prayed in her heart,
Adar, you do not need to worry anymore. Because of you, I can be alive long enough for this moment. Just watch me from up there...for now I am happy...and free.
Many years later...
In Grey Havens, Elrond, Celeborn and Galadriel were about to depart to Valinor by the last Elven boat. The three Elves looked up to see someone coming. It was Arianna, coming from the sky, with her new White Wings. She landed right before Elrond, who smiled to her.
"My Lords," Arianna bowed politely to the three, "I come to bid all of you farewell. I have word from Legolas. He apologizes for not being able to see you off."
"My dear Arianna," Elrond said, "So the Ruler of the Sky has finally returned to her rightful place."
"No, Lord Elrond. The Sky has no ruler since the beginning, it never need a ruler. It shall remain free, and unreachable," replied Arianna as she stared to the clouds above, "I just did what I felt right. Since these Wings are gift, not a curse anymore. Not to mention, I have promised Legolas. I will return to him no matter how far I go."
A smile of amazement spread across Elrond's face, "I can see your husband is treating you well."
"I can never ask for better husband than him. He encourages me to reach my dream," Arianna replied with a blush, "Lord Elrond...I..."
Since it was her last meeting with Elrond, Arianna knew she should say everything she wanted. But for some reason, her mind went blank. Elrond however, knew what she was thinking.
"I know. You do not need to say it."
"...I just want to say, thank you for all your kindness."
"I only did what I supposed to. This is a hard decision for me. However knowing that the two Elleth I love so much already have everything they need..." Elrond trailed, "Ingannen, u-anno medui beth an le?"
"If you say so, my Lord," replied Arianna.
"Remember that I will be waiting for you at the other side. Though, I do not wish for you to come any sooner."
"Are you waiting for somebody?" asked Arianna.
The three Elves simply nodded. Just then, another group came in. It was the five Hobbits, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, plus Bilbo, accompanied by Gandalf. The old Bilbo just stared at the Elves and the ship in amazement.
"Well...here's a sight I've never seen before. A boat and some Elves..." Bilbo said shakily.
"The power of the Three Rings is ended. The time has come for the dominion of Men," Galadriel said.
"I Aear cân ven na mar," Elrond added.
The Lord of Rivendell spread his arms open, inviting Bilbo to join.
"...I think I'm quite ready for another adventure..."
That being said, Bilbo walked forward and joined the Elves on the boat. After that, Gandalf turned around to face the remaining four Hobbits.
"Farewell, my brave ones," he said.
Sam, Merry and Pippin couldn't hold back their tears.
"I would not say do not weep, for not all tears are evil."
The White Wizard turned around and left. But before he stepped on the boat, he turned to see the Hobbits again.
"It is time, Frodo."
The other three Hobbits gave a shocked look to Frodo.
"What does he mean...?" Sam asked.
"...We set out to save The Shire, Sam. And it has been saved..." Frodo said sadly, "But not for me."
"You don't mean that...! You can't leave..."
Instead of replying, Frodo pulled out his book and handed it to Sam, "The last page is for you, Sam."
Frodo exchanged one last hug with Merry, Pippin, and finally Sam. It was the hardest farewell ever for the Hobbits. Without any more words, Frodo walked away and went abroad the ship with Gandalf. Frodo turned around and gave his last smile to his close friends.
At last, the ship sailed away. Arianna and the three Hobbits watched it with tearful eyes. They all decided to leave as the ship vanished from their sight. Arianna decided to bid the three Hobbits farewell before they left.
"I feel we are not going to meet anytime soon," she said, "Farewell, my friends. May we always hold true to each other."
The Sky Elf then spread out her Wings, and flew to the sky at lightning speed. At the same time, the three Hobbits also left Grey Havens.
It didn't take too long for Arianna to return to Woodland Realm. In the gate of the castle, Legolas had been waiting for quite a while. His smile widened as he saw his wife finally arrived back home.
"I have returned, Legolas," Arianna greeted, "I hope I'm not making you waiting too long."
"Of course not," Legolas replied as he planted a kiss on her lips, "Did Lord Elrond get my word?"
"Sure. I have to tell you, it ends quite well, although bit sad."
"Tell me as we have our evening meal."
"Alright, then..."
Both husband and wife joined hands as they walked back inside the castle.
