Chapter Twenty-Five

-Leo

I grabbed a handful of Redstone and trickled it along towards the little prototype, and then I grabbed the repeater model Seth had been working on and connected it to the Redstone. I fiddled with it some more until I had everything working, and then I flipped the tiny switch and it all lit up. I followed the Redstone along and then a small dispenser shot out a seed. I laughed as the repeater clicked and another seed shot out. I watched it was fascination.

"This is so awesome," I mumbled. Soon there was a pile of seeds sitting on the ground and I turned it off. I sat down and looked at the Redstone, and I guess I missed Seth.

-Brotato

Brice was sitting in the corner and not talking, just staring at the wall. Blue was still knocked out and I was worried he was dead. Annabeth was leaning against the wall, and I could practically see the cogs turning in her head as she thought.

"Hey, Tyler?" I heard someone say. I jumped.

"Weed?" I asked.

"Yup," he called back. I smiled a bit. "You alright?" Weed asked. I nodded, and then remembered he couldn't see me.

"Yeah. Just… coping."

"Were you serious earlier? About just waiting to die or get taken over?"

"I don't know. I don't really know anything anymore," I said, and I heard Weed laugh.

"Has the girl come up with any miraculous escape ideas?" Weed asked, and I was about to reply when Annabeth leaned off the wall and nodded.

"I have an idea," she said, and I heard Weed chuckle.

"Well, spill," I said, and Annabeth sat beside me.

"We can chip away some rock from the walls and then sharpen it until we can pick the lock, or we can…" she stopped.

"How will we get past the guards? And what was your second idea?" I asked, and she sighed.

"We could see if Brice could make that Redstone come back, and I'm sure he could use it to his advantage," Annabeth tried, and Brice looked up.

"I'm not doing that again," he said simply, before returning his head to his knees.

"I prefer the second idea," I muttered. "How will we get everyone out?"

"We won't. We'll get out the people here are most capable of fighting, and then we go get Jordan, get together an army and come back to rescue everyone else!" Annabeth said, and I sighed.

"You're forgetting the fact this is Herobrine we're talking about, the fact that we've been trapped here for ages and most of us have forgotten how to fight, and finally the fact that this place is crawling with guards, soldiers and sorcerers," I pointed out, and Annabeth shrugged.

"We can do it," she said. "I have it all worked out." I looked at her pointedly.

'Really?" I said, not buying it. She smiled and rapped her knuckles lightly against her temple.

"Daughter of Athena, remember?"

-Sparklez

The door to my little office opened, and Tiffany stood in the doorway. I straightened in my chair, waiting for her to start lecturing me.

"It's Seto," she said, and I was up and running straight away.

"What happened?" I asked as Tiffany ran alongside me.

"He tried to find Herobrine again," Tiffany explained. "Then he fell and he's been possessed by Herobrine's magic but no the actual Herobrine. So I'm not sure what's more dangerous." I inwardly groaned. Unknown enemies with the face of a friend; would we be able to do what was needed if it came to it? I came to the common room and saw Lisa with her group, and then Percy, Jason and Hazel.

"Lisa, what's the deal?" I said, and she nodded to me.

"Sky's up and running, I don't know what his mental state is but I don't care, he's giving orders and I'm following them. Seto's all possessed or some shit and we've been told to blast him if he gets to close," Lisa reported, holding up a fire charge. "Jerome's up on the walls and giving out knockout potions, the plan is to pour the potion on the arrows and shoot at him to take him down without force." Lisa cleared her throat, showing a rare moment of emotion.

"We… we were told that if it comes to it, we need to end him."

Sky rushed around to one side of Seto while I took the other side. His dead eyes followed me, and then the ground at my feet erupted. I stumbled and nearly fell and impaled myself on my sword, but I managed to not die an extremely unheroic death. I didn't want to do what I had done the day before, just shutting down and fighting, but I felt that I'd need full concentration on this fight.

"Mitch, duck!" Sky yelled, and a black beam nearly took my head off. The bushes behind me caught fire and I gulped. Sky got in close and slashed, but Seto whirled around and blocked the blade with his hand. Sky's eyes widened, and then Seto grabbed the sword and threw it. Sky let go of it so he wouldn't be thrown with it, and then Seto threw a punch that connected hard with Sky's jaw, and his head cracked back. Sky came up, hard and fast, and slammed his fist into Seto's stomach. Seto buckled slightly, kicking out and hitting Sky's shin, knocking his leg out from under him. Sky fell, but with his good leg swept his foot along, tripping Seto. I recognised some of the moves from his fight with Annabeth that had resulted in him losing it, and then I saw the look of grim determination on his face. I rushed forward and slammed the flat of my sword onto Seto's back, trying to not kill him, and Seto rolled over and sent both of his boots into my stomach. I stumbled back, gasping, and Sky managed to get up at the same time as Seto, and then they went into fist fighting again. Seto through a punch and Sky ducked under it, grabbing Seto's arm and twisting it, forcing him to his knees. Sky drove a punch into Seto's neck to keep him down, but then Seto threw rapid fire, driving Sky back. Seto held up both hands and a ball of black began to grow. It wasn't purple, like his usual magic, and this was way over powered. This wasn't his normal magic. Seto flung the ball out and it smashed into Sky's chest, sending him flying. I came back and swung my sword, trying for quick chops, but then he turned and faced me, holding out one hand. I froze, and my sword started burning. I yelped and dropped it, and it hissed as it touched the ground, smoke rising. Sky yelled and leapt onto Seto's back, and Seto grabbed his forearms and flipped him over his head and threw him to the ground. Sky looked at me for a split second – that was all Seto needed. Seto thrust out one hand, and Sky floated up. Sky thrashed and his boot connected with Seto's jaw, but he was unfazed. Sky suddenly was thrown by an invisible force. My heart sunk as he turned to face me.

"You're not Seto," I whispered, and he cocked his head. He seemed to hesitate, so I leapt forward and punched him in the nose. He reeled back, blood leaking from his nose, and black energy crackled around him. His eye twitched. My face fell.

"Oh," I said, and then a black bolt slammed into my chest and I blacked out.

-Sky

I watched as Mitch went flying and heard the crack as he slammed into the Wall, and watched as he crumpled in a bloody heap, and I heard Jerome yelling, and then arrows were whizzing through the air. Seto clenched his fists, and the arrows bounced off an invisible wall as he turned to me. I couldn't keep calling him Seto. It wasn't him. It made this all harder. I struggled to stand, bleeding from cuts, my whole body aching.

"Shut it out," I murmured as I straightened and reached into my pocket, pulling out a knife. "Shut it all out." I ran forward, each step sending spikes of pain up my legs, every swing of my arms making the presence of the knife more pronounced, each breath my throat constrict tighter, I couldn't do it. I heard a cry and then I cast a quick glance at the gates. Lisa was leading a charge, and then all of them held up fire chargers and flung them. Seto didn't have his defence up and finally took some damage. He stopped and looked at the crowd, furious. The black energy around him started up again, same as when he'd got Mitch. It was like an explosion was set off in the middle of the group. Everyone was shot up and scattered. Lisa landed on her feet, that son of a bitch, but others weren't as lucky. I heard a call and another flurry of arrows was shot out. This time, Seto got his defence up and all the arrows bounced off, but it was closer to him than last time.

"Keep up the speed!" I screamed, and another line of arrows went off and this time there were explosions when they fired. Jerome had found the explosives. I watched as the soldiers got up, and I saw Percy and his friends Hazel and Jason. Percy held out one hand, and then suddenly the windows in the top of the Fort rumbled as a huge spurt of water flowed out, smashing into Seto and flinging him back. Hazel rushed forward with her spatha and sparkling rocks flew out of the ground in front of her as she ran, flying at Seto. When the rocks got close, a random bolt of lightning would flash down and make them explode. That was the work of Jason, no doubt. Lisa rushed him as well with a small group behind her, and the split off and attacked from all sides. It seemed like he was getting hurt. I swear to Notch, he was getting hurt. Then, Seto flung out both arms, and everyone around him froze. I kept running forward, and it felt like I was moving through water, hard and slow. Percy was in mid-air, slowly bringing his sword down, A rock was half way out of the ground beneath Hazel, and Jason was about to slash his sword. The air rumbled, and then there was another huge flash as a crack of lightning smashed into Seto and everyone was rocked back as the explosion sounded, flinging everyone far and wide. But the lightning was black… not Jason's. Shit. I scrambled up and get rushing. He didn't expect me. He didn't notice me. He didn't realise I was there until I had plunged the knife into his back.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as he made a shocked noise and fell, his legs shaking. I twisted it with finality as I pulled it out of him. He looked up at me, and for a painful moment, his eyes cleared and went back to their normal honey colour. How? The magic was still in him, he should still be the blank... Oh, Notch, no.

"S-Sorry," he said, his teeth chattering. "I-I tried to f-fix it." he tried to raise his head but it slumped back. He coughed, and blood came up. I leant down beside him and his hand found mine.

"It's okay, Seto, you tried, it's fine. You'll be alright, I'll get Tiff," I said, feeling panic raise in my voice. I hadn't meant to... was he going to die? He squeezed my hand.

"Don't lie," he whispered, coughing and shaking. "I... Map. That's where he is." Seto shuddered, and I clenched his hand with all my might, willing him to stay awake. I didn't kill him. I didn't. The blood spreading beneath him wasn't blood. I didn't puncture anything. He wasn't pale.

"Who? Tell me Seto, stay awake, tell me who," I pleaded. He shook slightly and then went still.

And just like that, Seto was gone.
