Lana, are you joining Fairy Tail? Good choice! And is anyone else scared to see Ganondorf here? Seriously, dude just loves to pop up. (Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time.) Like really, who else thought that once we were done with Zant we'd win the game. Then SURPRISE! Fight this Ganondorf guy to win (One of the easiest Zelda bosses ever) And Anonymous1684, Lucy will be keeping the Forbidden Keys. However, they won't be used quite as much as her Zodiac Keys, but pretty close. But anyway, let's get on with the next chapter. Oh! But first, I'd like to ask you guys something. Do you think I should give the prominent Fairy Tail members theme songs? Please leave a review to answer, and If you think so, leave a request!
Chapter 25
The New Additions
After they had settled back into the guild, Lucy began inspecting her new Forbidden Keys. Zant's key was rather odd, bearing the same symbol as the shadow beings. Ghirahim's key was like a sword blade with a diamond like pattern attached to the tip of the blade, as well as a diamond as the symbol. Vaati's had an eye symbol and bat wings, oddly enough, as well as a swirling wind pattern. Yuga's had an upside-down version of the mark on Link's hand, an resembled a paintbrush. After her inspection, she put them on her key ring with a smile.
"These are so cool! Granted, Vaati seems to have the most self-control. But hey! The were evil a bit ago."
"Just be wary with the use of those and the others. They may be yours, but they probably aren't completely trusting of you."
"Oh, alright, Link. Jeez, even if they get out of hand, I can count on you or Natsu to take care of them."
As if to protest her words, Yuga's key shook a little. She could have swore she heard his voice say, "My beauty was only harmed due to his Dragon Mode! Give me another chance, and I will destroy him!"
"Oh, be quite Yuga. Oh wait, didn't Volga give you some keys after you beat him?"
"Oh, yes, the Draco Keys. All I know is that one summons Volvagia. He said the others summon his brothers, but I have yet to open their gates."
"Speaking of the little dragon, where is he?"
"He's getting acquainted with Happy. According to Natsu, Volvagia is my version of Happy. Odd, isn't it?"
Volvagia was in fact getting to know Happy, and was also successfully terrifying the other guild members. Why, you might ask? It's not every day you see a tiny dragon fly around with a cat. It's also not every day you see aforementioned dragon land on the head of a confused Makarov.
"*Ahem* Does anyone here know why there is a dragon child flying around the guild hall?"
"My apologies, but that is my friend, Volvagia. Don't worry about him, so long as he's in that form, he can't cause much more damage than Happy."
"This form? The dragon is a shape-shifter?"
"Volvagia, go outside and show him, please?"
"Yes, Link!"
The small dragon flew outside and crouched down and released a heavy amount of lava, burning a crater into the ground full of bubbling magma. Makarov sighed. More bills.
From the pool of magma came the true form of Volvagia, a huge serpentine dragon with a mane of flames and an armored skull. Everyone looked in shock of the beast, except for Link, Lucy, Gray, and Natsu, as they had all seen him like this. Everyone else though...
"OH MY GOD! IT'S HUGE!"
"IT CAN DO THAT IN A FEW SECONDS?!"
"WHY IS THERE A DRAGON EVEN HERE?!"
"Volvagia, could you go back to your smaller form? You appear to be scaring all of them in this one."
"Okay!"
He dove back into the pool and climbed out in his smaller form, then proceeded to fill the pool to the brim and let it cool, effectively fixing the road, as well as preventing Makarov's heart attack.
"As you can probably tell, he is far more powerful in his larger form, though he can still attack and such in his smaller form."
"Hey, Link. Do you wanna go make contracts with our new spirits? I wanna meet your dragons, and I believe you would want to meet my new spirits under better conditions."
"Ooohhh, this place is bigger than I thought it would be!"
Everyone turned to the doorway to see two people. One was a bluenette around the same height as Lucy, and the other was...
"VOLGA!"
Natsu was suddenly right in front of the dragon knight and sent him crashing away with a devastating punch. Link lept over Natsu and charged the Scorched Berserker, then punched him in the face hard enough to crack the stone underneath him.
"Why are you here?!"
Though he was muffled by the fist in his face, they could tell he said, "I'm here to join your guild."
"LIAR!"
Link raised both hands and swung down, though his assault was halted by a crystalline barrier.
"What?"
"Please, stop!"
They all turned to the bluenette, who was raising her hand and sweating, making Link believe she was the one who was holding the barrier up.
"Who are you, and why are you defending this man?" As he spoke, he pressed down on the barrier, cracking it. Volga visibly tensed up at the sound of it breaking.
"I'm Lana, and Volga isn't evil anymore. Here's how it happened..."
Flashback
Lana ran as fast as she could to the guild hall, though she almost ran right into a lava-filled crevice.
"Oh, that wouldn't have been very good."
As she turned to walk around, she heard moaning, and it sounded like the cause was pain. When she found the source, it was a man clad in red, draconian armor, and he was barely conscious.
"Who are you, mister?"
"W-what? *Coughcough* Who are... you, girl?"
"I'm Lana."
"I-I'm Volga..."
"Volga, Volga Volga Volga... Oh, now I remember! You were only serving Cia as long as your power was unrivaled, but clearly that changed."
"H-how did you?"
"Cia and I were the same person, but Ganondorf accidentally changed that."
"Uhhh..."
"Don't ask how it works, I don't even know myself. Are you okay, Volga?"
"Eh, nothing's broken, just bruised and bleeding pretty badly."
"Oh! Let me help!"
She spent around fifteen minutes treating his wounds and cleaning them, getting back enough of his strength so that he could walk.
"Well, uhhh... Thanks, I guess."
"What are you gonna do now?"
"Huh? Oh, I, uh, think I'm just gonna wander around for a while. Lost my Dragon Keys, and they were about the only company I had."
As he turned to walk away, Lana grabbed his shoulder. However, he didn't notice and kept walking, inadvertently dragging Lana several feet until he noticed the girl was holding him.
"What?"
"Do you wanna come with me?"
"Where are you goin'?"
"The Fairy Tail guild hall. I'm gonna join!"
"Ohh, I don't think that would be the best idea. It's more than likely that they would attack me one sight."
"Oh, what's the worst that could happen?"
Present
"You know, when I really think about it, he was right. Wierd."
By now, Link had broken the barrier, though he didn't strike Volga in the face. Instead, he stood up and reached out to the Dragon God Slayer.
"Very well. If this girl can trust you, then I belive that I can as well. However, if one move is made against any other member, aside from one of the brawls we suffer, as those are rather contagious, I will not hesitate to end you."
Volga nodded and took Link's hand, and he pulled him up.
"Now, who are you, miss?"
"I'm Lana. And like I told Volga a while ago, I'm Cia's good half, kinda obvious due to the fact that I haven't tried to kill any of you."
"Fair enough," stated Natsu.
"Very well, so you both want to join Fairy Tail?"
Lana nodded swiftly, though Volga sighed and shrugged out a, "Sure."
"...Okay, then where would you like your guildmarks?"
Lana pointed to the inside of her right wrist, and Volga said he'd put it on his back in-between his shoulder plates. Mirajane sighed. He'd have to take his shirt off, just like Gray.
"Just let me get the stamp and we'll finish this in a jiffy!"
She walked behind the bar and grabbed the Fairy Tail Stamp, then walked over to the two new members. Lana held out her wrist and said blue, and with a warm flash, the Fairy Tail logo was tattooed on her wrist. Volga took a little bit to remove his armor, mumbling 'sorry' every once in a while, the turned around.
"Black on bottom fading to red on top. Can ya do that?"
Mirajane nodded and pressed the stamp on, and a surprisingly cool colored version of the Fairy Tail logo was on his back. He sighed and cracked his back, which was surprisingly loud, then proceeded to put back on the rest of his armor.
"So, uh, what's your name?"
"Me? Well I'm Mirajane Strauss! Nice to meet you!"
"I'm Volga, Volga Veldin. (1) And yes, I know my name has alliteration in it."
He was approached by the similarly sized Elfman Strauss.
"You're one of those guys who took Lucy and Erza, aren't you?"
"*Sigh* Yeah, and I'm sorry about that. And unless I'm mistaken, I also hurt you and the purple haired-girl. Sorry."
"It's not that easy to get over, buddy. We were almost dead! How ever you managed to beat a MAN like me is surprising!"
"Look, I was just following orders, okay? If you still got shit that you gotta do, then go ahead. I'm an open target."
He spread his arms out and closed his eyes. It hurts more when you see that you're about to get hit in the face. However, while we was expecting to get punched in the face, he didn't expect to peek and see Elfman within inches of him.
"Whoa, I don't swing that way!"
"Wha- No! Not that! Just don't attack us again!" The whole time he spoke, he wore a prominent blush on his face. "I like women!"
Volga breathed a sigh of relief. Elfman was straight.
"I've been here for five minutes, and I've done so much wierd shit. Is there anyone here who I can relate to?"
"Oh, that would be Laxus. He'd be your guy. You two would get along famously!"
"Well, thanks I guess, Mira. I can call you Mira, right?"
She nodded and he smiled. Turns out the brute did change. Volga then went off in search of this 'Laxus' to see what he was up to. When they heard crackling electricity, they knew Volga found him. When they saw smoke, they knew they should probably break those two up.
"Mira, telling him to find Laxus was probably the worst decision you could have made. Sure, they are of similar power, but people with that personality don't usually mix. At all."
"I know, but Laxy can give him a proper Fairy Tail welcoming!"
"Laxy?"
"What? He's cute."
And with that, Link made a mental note to tease Mira about that. She did it about him and Erza all the time, so this would be fair game.
"So anyway, do you wanna go check out our keys?"
"Very well, Lucy. I'd rather not be here for when Volga turns into a dragon."
OOO
Remembering what all those keys were capable of, they decided to go to the outskirts of Magnolia, especially for the fact that Link would be summoning, not one, but two additional dragons, likely of equal or greater power than Volvagia.
"Open, Gate of the Paintmaster!"
"Yuga!"
Unlike the first time he was seen, color didn't spread everywhere. Instead, he just appeared from the seal.
"Oh, you're who's replacing Cia. Very well, what will be the terms of our contract?"
"Well you kinda blunt, are you?"
"Don't mock me, ugly!"
Lucy suddenly remembered Everlue, and had half a mind to summon Taurus to give him the axe, but she had a better idea.
"You wanna see ugly, look in the mirror!"
Just as she suspected, Yuga's pride took a major hit.
"Hey! If you're going to be like that, then I'll make a contract elsewhere."
Just like Yuga's key had been doing, Vaati's key began shaking. This time, though, the voice was audible to all.
"Oh, shut up, Yuga. Who else will take deadly demons and sorcerers? This girl, my apologies for I do not know your name, is our only real way of being summoned right now."
Yuga sneered and stopped. "Oh, fine. But only because a higher-up told me so."
"Alright. All I want is for you to be loyal to me and I'll be loyal to you. Deal?"
"Oh, is that really it? I can live with that. Deal."
Lucy smiled and closed his gate, then opened Vaati's
"Thank you for your help with Yuga. My name is Lucy."
"Fret not over his barbaric nature. Who you really need to worry about is Zant. The only person he ever really respected was his god. Ghirahim is rather easy to deal with, actually. Now, I take it that my contract will be the same as Yuga's?"
"Yep!"
"Very well! I hope this lasts for time to come, Mistress Lucy."
"Mistress? Aw, you're so sweet!"
Wind picked up around Vaati blowing his hair out of his eye, clearly a display of his magical aura.
"Don't call me sweet. It is something that has cost many their lives."
Lucy sweat-dropped and nodded. And with a bow, Vaati left. She sighed and opened Ghirahim's gate, letting the flamboyant Demon into Earthland.
"So, you're the one Volga was tasked to retrieve? Interesting, and rather attractive."
Lucy blushed, but not in a good way. Ghirahim was invading her personal space, she had to rely on Link's next move in order to get out of it.
"Ghirahim, if you could get out of her face, it would be much ablidged."
"Hmph. Very well. I already know the deal. I could hear from within the key."
"Well, alright."
Ghirahim bowed and left.
"I swear, if Zant bows to, I'll be mad."
She opened Zant's gate, and like last time, the entire area darkened. Now that they were outside, they could see exactly how far it reached, and it was roughly a half mile radius.
"The mortal girl, and the Dragon Slayer. How very interesting. What do you ask of me?"
"You already know, Ghirahim said you could from within the keys."
"Hm. It appears that you aren't as ignorant as you first seemed to be. Very well, I will form a contract with you. Under one circumstance. I must never be called upon for useless reasons. Combat. Combat is my life. I live to conquest. Agreed?"
"Agreed..."
"Good. Farewell, my Goddess."
And with that, he left. Link was stunned. As far as he knew, Zant was the dominant one, but his contract was easy to form.
"Alright, now your dragon gates!"
"Of course! Volvagia!"
Volvagia hopped onto Link's shoulder.
"What are the other's names and epithets?"
Volvagia whispered in his ear, and he nodded in approval.
"Alright, open, Gate of the Bone Dragon."
"Stallord."
A huge gate opened allowing a huge dragon, or rather, dragon skeleton through. When it got all the way out, it displayed the ability to walk on two legs, though it did something rather odd. It buried it's lower body into the ground, hiding it's legs and tail and rooting it in place. (2) It looked at Link as if he were an insect, then noticed Volvagia on his shoulder.
"Volvagia, is this truly your human friend? He appears not to be very special, let alone different." Stallord's voice was extraordinarily loud, shaking the landscape with it's sheer volume. Even Link cringed.
Volvagia proceeded to return to his true form.
"Are you challenging me, brother? Ha! Remember that I am your superior, and that you have never stood a chance!"
Volvagia charged quickly towards the Bone Dragon, though the latter laughed and met him head-on, then threw him over and slammed him on the ground behind him.
"I see. Stallord uses his point in the ground to get better leverage, then utilizes immense strength to overcome his opponents."
"Whoa, you learned that from one attack?!"
"I'm rather analytical, as noted by almost everyone I've met. This is how I defeated so many powerful beings in so little time."
Lucy nodded and looked back at the titanic battle between dragons. Little did anyone there know that a certain fire dragon slayer was watching from afar.
"Dragons... He can call upon dragons... Wait, do any of them know... about Igneel?"
The two dragons continued to battle, though Stallord was obviously winning. Volvagia had slowed down, and Stallord was having a field trip.
"HAHAHA! Just like old times, eh brother!"
"Volvagia, don't try to overcome his strength! His bone structure implies an immense degree of strength, and sadly, you strength lies in two different areas: Speed and range. Granted, there is also your skull density, but that won't help you here."
Volvagia listened closely and understood. Stallord realized something. Volvagia did always try to challenge him in his specific areas of expertise.
This may not be good.
Volvagia flew back away from Stallord's position in the ground and inhaled for a roar. Stallord did the same, though his took noticable more preparation. The two released both roars at once, Volvagia's a deadly stream of magma, Stallord's a powerful ball of energy. However, Stallord's was overpowered relatively easily, and he took the complete force of the roar, which pulled him out of the ground and pushed him back a few feet.
"That was very impressive, little brother. But it was no where near enou-!"
"Alright, Stallord, that's enough of that."
Without Stallord even noticing his presence, Link had hopped onto the bridge of his nose.
"I didn't call you here to fight Volvagia, I called you here to form a contract. What terms do you suggest?"
"You dare to touch the mighty Bone Dragon?! Foolish human, you perish today!"
Link saw Stallord's hand coming from a mile away, and as such dodged it easily.
"You're strong, but terribly slow."
He punched Stallord in the face, which barely fazed the dragon, even with the fact that it was dragon slayer magic. Stallord then inhale for an even larger roar, which this time took the form of pale fire. But yet again, it was dodged.
"You'll never hit me with such an attack."
"Boy, you are quite cocky. But your attacks can do nothing to me! I am the Bone Dragon, Stallord! To you, I am a god!"
"No, you are a fool!"
Using his surprising knowledge of pressure points, Link brought an Earth Dragon's Hammer to the base of Stallord's skull, dazing him.
"What... What did you do to me?!"
"The base of the skull is a very vulnerable place. Hit with enough force it can be painful, even capable of rendering people unconcious. Without skin or muscle, that area is far more open on you."
"Hmm. Perhaps this is a worthy human. I am Stallord, middle child of the three dragon keys you hold."
"Middle child? I take it this means that Volvagia is the youngest. All I ask of you is to stay and fight with me. Deal?"
Stallord nodded to his request, so Link thanked him and closed his gate, then readied the next key, the one bearing armor.
"Open, Gate of the Twilight Dragon."
"Argorok."
While not as big as Stallord, Argorok was still larger than Volvagia. True to his key, he was clad in black, gold-rimmed armor that covered his entire body.
"Child of man, why did you call me?"
"I am Link Valion. Volvagia should have told you of me."
"Ah, you are the boy who freed my brother from Dragmire's control. You have my thanks."
"Well, you're surely more respectable than Stallord, that's for sure."
"Oh dear, has he gone and fought with Volvagia again? Oh, where are my manners. I am Argorok, the Twilight Dragon, eldest of the the three dragons you possess."
"You are aware of the deal I request?"
"Indeed. I am willing to comply."
"I have the feeling that we will ge along well, Argorok. It's a pleasure to be in your presence."
"And I yours. Farewell, Sir Valion. We shall be seeing each other soon."
"OH, YOU HOLD ON!"
Everyone present turned to see a flaming Natsu charging full speed towards Argorok. He skidded to a stop in front of the dragon and pointed accusingly at him. "What do you know about Igneel?!"
Argorok thought about the name for a bit. "I'm sorry, but this "Igneel' isn't someone I'm familiar with."
"Oh, come on! He's the Flame Dragon King. Please tell me you've heard of the King of the Dragons. Seriously, please."
"I'm sorry young one, but this Flame Dragon King is unknown to me. However, if I meet such a being I can assure you that I will inform him that you are searching for him. Very well?"
"Alright. If ya see him, he's a big, red dragon that breaths fire. 'Kay?"
"Wait, 'big red fire-breathing dragon'? Volvagia, have you paraded around as such a dragon?"
"No, Volvagia always been Volvagia!"
"Oh dear. Well, my deal still stands. I am Argorok, the Twilight Dragon. If you wish to get technical, I am The Twilit Dragon King, as in Hyrule there are not many dragons, even throughout all of it's history. Of all of them, I am the most powerful."
"I'm Natsu Dragneel. And I'm telling you now, we're gonna fight sometime. Like NOW!"
Natsu was soon going to town on Argorok, though given that Link's slayer magic is more honed and barely damaged Stallord, Natsu obviously did no damage to Argorok, who was also armored. Argorok was initailly surprised to see that he was being assaulted, but then turned to Link for confirmation. He nodded, so Argorok began. He inhaled deeply, then released a stream of powerful black fire. Natsu readied himself to devour such flames, but was obviously surprised when such attack proved inedible, and very painful.
"OW! Why the heck can't I eat the fire?!"
"Natsu, remember. Argorok is the Twilight Dragon, not a fire dragon. His are not actually flames, but the focussed essence of twilight. A full meal for Twilight Dragon Slayers, but deadly to other elemental slayers. In other words, you cannot eat his flames."
"COULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT EARLIER! FIRE DRAGON'S ROAR!"
The powerful flames weren't even registered by the armored dragon. Argorok closed his wings in front of him then rapidly opened them, blowing away all of Natsu's fire and knocking him off-balance.
"Whoa, nice wing attack!"
"That was no wing attack, Natsu. He merely flapped his wings."
"What?"
"Allow me to formally use an attack, if I may. Twilight Dragon's Midnight Driver."
Argorok spewed fire, coating his whole body in black flames. He then took off and flew towards Natsu, pulling his wings in and spinning rapidly, creating a black, flaming tornado. As this happened, Link fell to his knees, panting holding the gate of such a powerful being after holding the gate of another, with both fighting, was absolutely draining. Lucy noticed this and nodded. Summoning all four of her gates was tiring, and they didn't even fight. But Link has summoned three dragons, with all three of them fighting, and usually keeps Volvagia out. Argorok noticed and quickly ended his attack, sparing Natsu.
"My apologies, Dragneel, but my time here was short. Our fight... will have to wait."
Link closed his gate and fell to his knees. He was almost completely drained. I mean, three dragons in so little time will waste so much power. This meant though that he would need to train to increase his magic power to use these keys effectively. Until then, Argorok and Stallord would have to wait.
"*Huff* ...Well, that won't be happening again soon. I'm sorry Natsu, but this fight will have to be concluded later."
"Like when you have a chance, Flame-brain."
"Wha- GRAY, WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?!"
"When I saw you sneaking off after Link and Lucy, I followed. I'm honestly surprised Link didn't notice you, dude can find a needle in a haystack. Sadly, this actually happened."
"Wait, he did? When?"
"Back a year after he joined. He was fighting some monster and somehow it took his sword from him. They were fighting in a huge plain, so when the thing lobbed it, it was hard to find. He found it right after he killed it."
Link thought back to that day. No where near as difficult as fighting Majora, Ganondorf, or any of their stronger monsters like Twinmold and Morpha, but still a tough fight. How the damn thing took his sword was still beyond him. Ah, he could remember it like it was yesterday.
Flashback
Link sighed. Damn monster was weak, but it was putting up a hell of a fight.
"Eh, Gray! Slow the bastard down!" ...This was before Link learned what 'self restraint' was.
"Ice-Make: Floor!"
Though Gray acted fast, the monster dodged the wave of ice faster. The monster laughed loudly and skidded to a stop off to the side, where it was engaged by Link. He was using a powerful combo of his Gilded Sword and an Earth Dragon's Iron Fist, though the monster was rather fast and managed to dodge his sword swings, though it wasn't ready for his punches.
Why can't I hit it with my sword?
Link thrusted again, though the monster caught his sword and wrenched it from him, then threw it far away, it's landing place obscured by the field they were in.
"Earth Dragon's Roar!"
The monster wasn't expecting this, and took the full hit. It survived, but it was clearly hurt pretty bad. Link back-flipped while Requipping a lance, with which he speared the monster in the chest. It coughed up green blood and fell, where a triumphant Link ripped his lance free.
"Well, that was fun."
"Fun? You call life-threatening combat fun?"
"Yep. After my duels with Ganondorf and Majora, I learned to accept combat, as it is inevitable. Don't get me wrong, I don't love it as I would a girl, but it passes time. Plus, it tells me where I stand. Now, let's go find my swo- Found it!"
Gray was stunned as Link ran over and pulled his sword out of the ground. It was a long, golden sword with diamonds on the blade.
Present
"Now that I think of that day, it reminds me of that sword. Requip."
With a snap of his his fingers, he called the same sword to his hand. Other than the Great Fairy's Sword, Helix Sword, and Master Sword, this was about the strongest sword he had ever used. Sadly, he had to return his Great Fairy's Sword, otherwise he would use that thing whenever he could. You know, due to the Fairy theme. Looking at the sword, he couldn't help but feel sentimental. This blade was the only real proof he had of his visit to another world, and one of his only ways to remind him he saved Termina from that demonic, evil moon.
"You know what? I may use this more often."
He Requipped a matching scabbard (3) for such sword and hooked it onto his side, then sheathed it.
"Though I may get it honed, the years weren't very kind to it."
In truth, though it was an extraordinarily sturdy sword, the blade had scratches and chips, even the gold had faded. Regardless, it could stop a blade of the power of the Master sword without taking almost any damage, making it very valuable.
"Now, who here knows a good blacksmith?"
Now, regarding the song bit, I'm thinking of Centuries by Fall Out Boy for Erza. Why? Listen to it and you will understand. And yes, Link will start using his Gilded Sword again. And when I say again, I mean that before he reclaimed the Master Sword, he was using the Gilded Sword. (1) His last name is based off the fiery province of Eldin. Pick which game you want, I don't care, so long as it involves fire. (2) The same way he was in the Twilight Princess boss fight with him, burried in the ground. His Bone Dragon's Blast was the one ball of energy, a spin off of his Dragon's Roar, which was used in his second phase when he was just a head. The real Dragon's Roar used later was the blast of flames used in his first faze when you had to crack his spine. (3) Basically the same scabbard that holds the Falchion in FA: Awakening. And until next time, OniHelix out!
