"Wait, what did he say?" Tony leaned into the monitor, his headset nearly fell from his ears. He and the others were holed up in the war room, trying to gain any info Natasha could milk from "Luke".

"He said he had no interest in knowing who he was." Clint said without the slightest bit of irony. "Or…maybe your tech made a mistake."

Tony almost laughed, "No, my tech doesn't make mistakes. I made it after all."

Steve just shook his head. This is what happens when they just sit around and not take any action. Alright, so if Loki was just reincarnated that still didn't change the fact that the world was still off its kilter. As far as he was concerned 'Luke' was just another Red Skull screwing the world over, no matter how sweet he seemed.

"So then what do we do Tony?"

"Honestly Capt.," Tony sighed, "I'm not too sure."

It was one thing when Loki just didn't want to start chaos, but now he literally couldn't…not that it would matter if he could. Tony stole a glance at Thor as he tried to turn the volume up. Tony almost wished he hadn't…

The guy's face looked like it was going to slide onto the floor.

"Thor, are you alright?" Tony asked as he slipped his headset off. The room fell silent. Just the humming of the machines was all anyone could hear.

Thor never answered.

Natasha finished showing Luke the training area and left him in the kitchen. She taught him how to use JARVIS to set him up with anything he might want to eat.

"I'll be right back." She winked and off she went. She needed to regroup with the guys. What she knew so far was hardly anything they could use. He lived in a crappy apartment, worked a job at a bakery, and really enjoyed the smell of bakes goods. If there was any form of negativity in that guy's body, Natasha couldn't find it. It was like the world was made out of cotton candy for that guy.

"So what do we do?" Clint asked.

Steve rolled his eyes. "Well clearly he can't be allowed to go back. We need to keep him here under surveillance and-"

"Steve stop it. You know that's not going to work" Natasha said. "Remember, people are still suspicious of us and if he goes missing we'll be the first people they suspect and then we'll have a problem."

But Steve did have a point. They did need to keep Lok…Luke close to them. "You know that old saying about keeping your enemies closer?" She asked as she raised her eyebrow.

"What do you suggest?" Steve sat down next to Thor. The guy still hadn't said a word.

"Well, he lives in a crappy apartment, what if we say we want him to live with us? That way we can apologize, fix our reputation with the public, and keep a close eye on Luke without anyone getting suspicious."

Steve smirked, "Yeah, sounds pretty good to me."

It wasn't too long after that that Tony moved to where Luke was. The young man looked around like a nervous dog.

"Oh, Mr. Stark, hello."

Tony looked down to the table, the only thing Luke had in front of him was a glass of water.

"Luke, buddy, order more than that at least. Jarvis, get this guy a burger please." Tony said. And just like magic, the kitchen sprang to life. The stove came on, and everything began to move.

"Oh, Mr. Stark I coul-"

"Tony. Call me Tony." Tony smiled, it shouldn't be too difficult to get this guy's trust. "Anyway, Thor told me about your…uh…apartment." From what Thor had told them, that place couldn't be considered an apartment, it couldn't even be considered a cardboard box. "And we feel so bad about what happened at the bakery."

Luke just laughed. "I told you guys, it's fin-"

"No no no, I won't hear of it."

Luke shook his head. "Thor already explained it to me. You guys were just looking for his brother." Luke took another sip of his water.

"Thor's told you about his brother?" Tony sat down next to Luke, his shoulders lagged.

"Yeah, he told me you were all looking for him. You guys must have been pretty close."

Tony almost laughed. Close…you could say that.

"Anyway, I hope you guys find him soon. Thor looks pretty…upset, every time he looks at me."

Tony smirked. "Well, you do look a lot like him. Thor's just been…missing his brother lately." Thor had been wandering the mansion for days. He hadn't been getting any sleep, and even Clint was starting to take notice. Tony shook his head free of those thoughts, he had a job to do. "But enough about that I've got great news, the guys and I were talking and we think you should move in with us!" Tony almost beamed. "Sounds pretty good huh?"

Luke looked towards Tony. His eyes unreadable. His hair fell down to his eyes, his chest rose and fell slowly…and then he smiled.

"Tony, that's great and everything, but I'm gonna have to decline."

And then Tony's smile fell. "What? Come on man. It'll be great."

Luke needed to live with them. They had to find a way to keep a close eye on him, and who knew, if he were around more maybe they could isolate this "chaos" and generate it on a larger scale.

"W-well, what about your amnesia. We could really help you with that."

Luke smiled again. "Thanks, but no." He took a sip of his water, "I love my apartment, and even though it's small, I wouldn't change it for anything."

Well shit.

"Any way Tony, I better get back home." Luke finished his water and placed the empty glass onto the counter. "Uh, thanks so much for the tour."

"Y-yeah. Well Luke come on back any time you want."

Luke fixed the collar on his shirt and walked towards the door, and there waiting for him was Thor.

"You are taking your leave?" Thor asked, his voice heavy with regret. "Did not the man of iron invite you to live with us?" Thor's eyes almost looked hopeful for a second.

"Yeah he did. That's really nice of you guys but I don't want to impose. Besides, I'd probably get lost in a place a big as this." Luke laughed, and Thor's eyes looked downward.

"I-I see. Regardless the offer still stands, and will never expire." Without even thinking, Thor wrapped his arms around Luke's small frame. "Y-you are welcome anytime friend Luke."

I'm not really interested in who I was before.

Loki…

I'm Luke, and that's good enough for me…

Please…come back to us.

"Thor, I hope you find your brother" Luke whispered.

Thor only held him tighter. "As do I."

And within minutes Luke was off, back his home. The Avengers all watched as he walked from their lawn and out of their sight.

"So now what geniuses?" Clint asked.

"You know what Clint, your attitude isn't helping the situation at all."

"Well what will? Look, we've got a reincarnated god that wants nothing to do with his old life, we can't just force him to remember…wait, can we?"

The team turned to Thor, who only shook his head. "No one can force memories of another life onto someone who does not recognize them. It would be as if I had given Loki the memories of my life. He would see them as not his own."

"I still don't get why we didn't just tell him the truth." Clint said.

Tony rolled his eyes, "Yeah, because he'd believe that. Look, we just need to focus on getting him to live with us, and then we can analyze this 'chaos' he brings. But how exactly are we going to do that?"

Steve clasped his hand against Tony's back. "Don't worry. I've already got it covered." Steve's mouth moved upward in a grin.

There was something about that smile that made Tony feel like he needed to shower.
