CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE:
BACK FROM THE STARS
Lucy had come to believe death would be exactly like what she was feeling. Freedom. A feeling like you are floating, but you know that in reality you aren't. Then her eyes opened and death wasn't waiting. A man with blue eyes greeted her; he was repeating the word she had heard over and over again: "Princess?" She fell back to sleep
"Do you think she's dead?" Levy asked.
"No, she's still breathing." Levy let out a breath of relief at Wendy's words.
"What about the baby?" Baby?! Lucy tried to escape the prison of her unconsciousness. "What's she doing?" Levy asked, worried.
"I think she heard you," Wendy sounded like she was struggling, and then Lucy's arms were strapped down to something.
"Is the Princess okay?"
"Why do you keep calling her Princess?" Carla spoke this time. As the exceed was conversing with the man, Wendy began to do magic. Lucy felt it all around her.
"She is to be ruler of the stars."
"Since when?"
"Since the day she was born," he took in a breath, "We all thought her mother would one day be the queen, but we have had no such luck. "
"Oh," Levy whispered.
After that there was only silence that Lucy could hear. Then her dreams started up again. Each was vibrant. Each was a message. Each contained the blood of thousands. They filled her days. Sometimes she woke up, but barely long enough to have a conversation.
THen a pain started. Lucy began to scream. She was awake now.
"Lucy, just breathe." Wendy looked tired.
"What's going on?" Levy stood by; there was a twig in her hair. Lucy began screaming again.
"The baby." Wendy managed to squeak.
"What?! Have you ever delivered a baby?"
"No." Lucy began to scream louder.
"It's okay," Wendy tried to remain calm.
"Could you make her stop screaming?" Carla was awake as well; the blonde man followed her. Lucy stopped screaming. "That's better." Another contraction started.
The blonde man just stared at her, and Lucy stared back. "Who are you?" she panted.
"My name is Narcissus, Princess."
"Are you a celestial spirit?"
"No, I was taken here much the same as you."
"You are a Celestial Spirit Mage?" Lucy asked between contractions.
"I am a Mage of the Stars."
"How are we in the Spirit World?"
"The Spirit World is weak - there is an evil lurking here. This place in closer to Earthland, but yet farther. The time here is faster; one day in Earthland is three months here."
"Wow," Lucy began to squeeze something. Narcissus began to cringe; she realized it was his hand. "You seem to know a lot about this."
"I've been here a long time."
"Is the rest of the Spirit World like this?"
"No, some places it is normal speed; so places it matches Earhtland exactly," he said, "it's a good thing; there aren't too many Celestial Spirit Mages."
"Isn't there Yukino? He has two Zodiacs."
Narcissus looked to Levy.
"These arrived while you were unconscious," Levy pulled out two keys.
"Pisces and Libra."
"Yes, Yukino was found dead. Lisanna was asked to give these to you. It seems that Yukino knows of your existence...knew."
"Why wouldn't she?"
"Most people have forgotten about you; I even forgot."
"Why?"
"We think that its the evil Narcissus was talking about."
A baby's howls echoed through the woods that surrounded them. A few years later Lisanna was summoned, and they left the Spirit World.
"Take good care of her," Lucy handed her daughter off.
"Lucy, are you sure?" Lisanna looked down at the child in her arms. It still baffled her how the child had been born and then grown into the size of a toddler in a matter of weeks.
"No, but she can't be with me. I have a dangerous path ahead."
"Okay, I hope to see you again." They watched as Lisanna walked away, holding Luxy.
"Where is Narcissus?" Wendy asked as they walked towards their destiny.
"I don't know."
