Chapter 25
When Kagome awoke the next morning she felt hot and confined. She turned over in her sleep but just got more constricted, she tried to move her arms but they were trapped. Sitting up she quickly opened her eyes and took in her surroundings. She could hear the water flowing down into the hot spring and out, she took note of the fire pit nearly extinguished; but the one thing she wanted was not there. She knew that Sesshomaru would have had to leave but she wished he had stayed with her. She shrugged out the sleeping bag she was trapped in and looked over to where Shippo was still passed out on the pillow. Sighing at him she made to get up, stretching and yawing once more she moved over to her backpack and began to get dressed since she was still in her bathing suit from the night prior. Changing in to a pair of jeans and a purple blouse she donned a pair of shoes and rummaged through her bag for something to eat for her and Shippo.
As she pulled out some breakfast bars she had stored away she walked over to the spring and filled up her canteen and poured it over the remains of the fire. So as to make sure the fire didn't reignite and set a blaze the forest. As she walked back over to the spring she refilled the canteen and started to pack up things that were left out. She then moved over to shake awake Shippo, and grinned at him as he asked to just sleep 5 more minuets. Waking him up and making sure he was feed and ready to go; Kagome looked around the area once more before deciding to head west. She figured if she headed west she would eventually run into Sesshomaru, right? Well it was worth a shot, looking up at the sun she found where it was rising and the turned in the opposite direction and called for Shippo to follow.
"Come along Shippo its time to find our way out of here." She slung her bag over her shoulder and started to move away.
"B-But momma, we should go that way." He said pointing south.
Kagome looked back and saw where he was pointing and sighed moving over to pick him up she said.
"Shippo, if we head west we should be able to run into Sesshomaru's lands and then we can make our way back to Edo ok? If we go that way we won't know where we are or where to go. Its safer if we go west ok?" She then began to walk again but stopped when he jumped back out of her arms and back to where he was standing. Shaking his head no he then pointed in the direction he wanted to go.
"Momma cant you tell we need to go this way. See look, here." He began jumping up and down pointing to a tree. "See, see."
Sighing she walked over to him and looked at to where he was pointing. She saw four light scratches on the bark, she ran her hand over it and as she did she could feel Sesshomaru's yokia in it, however as she moved her hand from it she noticed it was gone. Blinking at where it was she then thought back to what he had said.

"I can not tonight, However if you come back here in the morning you will find a path leading you home." He said finally after debating in his head he had seen her shoulders slump but then pick back up once he said that. "What do you mean a path?"
Smirking at her confusion he simply told her "not till morning."

'Could this be what he meant? A path.'
"I-I guess your right Shippo. If Sesshomaru wants us to go this way, then this is the way we go."
She scooped him up and began to walk the way Sesshomaru wished her to.
"So Shippo just keep your eyes open for anymore of his marks ok."
"Sure mamma, so what are we going to do when we get out of here?"
"Well we are going to find our way back to Edo and then we will see where we go from there ok."
"But . . . . What about Sesshomaru-sama? Shouldn't we find him first?"
Laughing slightly she answered. "I think he will find us when he is ready. After all don't you want to see Keade and the others?"
"Well yah, I guess. But . . . hey look there's another one!"
He said jumping at another mark on a tree to the left. Kagome walked over to it and once more she ran her hand against it, feeling his yokia brush against her hand only for a moment and the mark to once more disappear. Smiling to her self she nodded her head and said.
"Well I guess we go left. Shall we. Shippo."
They had been traveling for hours on end not stopping unless they needed to eat or take a break. All the while Shippo would sing or they would play eye- spy, just something to pass the time, while they navigated through Sesshomaru's maze of mark's it was almost as if he wanted them to take all these twist and turns and Kagome was getting kind of annoyed. It was getting late and Kagome was wondering if they should stop for now, but there was something urging her to keep going like if she stopped she wouldn't finish what she started. So in the end she scooped up Shippo and carried him till he fell asleep and kept on walking letting her powers expand in front of her searching for another mark. Hopping she wouldn't loose her way in the process.
Damn it Koga was going to kill them; they had some how lost sister and now they were going to be in big trouble. They had run as fast as they could but they just couldn't seem to find her. They had run in circles for hours now and couldn't seem to make any headway. It would seem as if their sister didn't want them to find her; as it was getting late they knew they only had a few more hours before Koga came back to the meadow to find it empty. However as they continued to run in their endless search the sky was turning darker and they had almost ran out of time. What if they couldn't find her then what were they to do? They knew personally there was no animal in the area that would do her any great harm but they were more worried about themselves right now.
"Damn it Gintu! What are we going to tell Koga when he gets back and finds us all gone? Hmm?"
"Why they hell are you asking me that? I don't know any more than you do. . . .(Sigh) I just hope sister is ok."
"Yah your right, what if she got hurt or something?"
"look we should just go back to the meadow and meet up with Koga maybe if we explain it to him, he might go easy on us and hopefully forget about us and focus on finding sister ok?"
"Sound good to me, Hakakka."
With that they ran back towards the meadow in hope that maybe Koga could find their missing sister.

The sun had set about six hours ago or at least that's how long she had assumed it had been. However Kagome continued to walk till she heard the sound of water falling; making her way towards it she came upon a small stream running over a ravine of rocks. She stopped briefly and decided to take a break; she laid Shippo down on a patch of grass and took off her back pack, setting it next to him she pulled out her water bottle and refilled it and took a long gulp savoring the cool feel running down her throat and chin. Sighing in delight at her body relaxing as she lay back against the grass closing her eyes as she felt all the exhaustion from walking all day settle upon her legs. She decided to simply let her eyes rest for a moment before she would keep moving besides she had to close by now right. She had found every other mark on her own granted she did get turned around a few times and it felt like she went in a huge circle but at least by now she could see how tall the mountains really were so they had to be close they just had to be!
She turned on her side and decided to place a barrier around them just in case and let her eyes "rest"; and as she did she soon drifted off into a deep sleep.

However the night wasn't so friendly to two very abused wolves as they limped behind their fearless leader as he kept making large circles and running back and forth all while they followed.
"We're sorry Koga! We really are!"
"Yah how did we know she would get so far ahead of us!?"
Their fearless leader sunp around so fast that they barely had time to stop before crashing into each other to prevent crashing into him, and landed in a heap on the floor.
"you two fools should have known by now that Kagome will do what ever she pleases in doing that's just her way and what I find so . . . so irresistible she simply wont listen and makes things interesting that's why you two idiots were suppose to watch her every minuet! Now she's out here somewhere and that little minx is doing a very good job of hiding herself from me!" (Hump) he crossed his legs and plopped onto the ground head in his hands and sighed again.
"Why would she want to run away hu? Didn't we give her all she could need?"
Gintu now free from his pack brother sat Indian style as well and said.
"Well maybe she simply wanted to go home, I mean she must have a mother right?"
"Yah! That s right! And a brother too! See Koga she just wanted to see her family!" said Hakaku still from the ground floor.
"I guess, but I could have taken her once we matted! Why couldn't she just have waited! Now I have to go out and find her all over again. Well at least that stupid mutt is out of the picture for good." He said laughing.
"Uhhhh Koga? Not to be out of line here but didn't sister tell you "it was never going to happen"? " *BONK* "never mind" said Hakaku before his head fell to then ground once more.
" I thought about it for a while and figured she still must be holding a hope that Inu-baka might still love her. But once I get rid of him then there won't be any more problems. Beside's she probably still won't want to see him. And like she said I really haven't been making an effort so now this time around I will."
"Yah but isn't her village in Inuyasha's forest?" said Hakaku.
"Yah that's right and if that's where her village is then wont he be there too?"
"Mhhmmhh and if they meet then he could tell her the truth and then . . . "
"Uh oh" they both said together.
Now Koga had a shocked look on his face he hadn't thought about that what if she did make it out of the mountains and she did meet up with Inuyasha and he did tell her the truth then his whole plan would have been for naught and then instead of hating Inuyasha she would then hate him and never wanted to be his mate! And if she said no now then after that she would never submit to him! And he planned on making her submit, that little outburst she had simply meant he had to try harder he was not going to loose this girl without a fight and by god he meant to fight for her even if she didn't want him. She would fall out of love with that mutt and into love with him, she just had too, no one else was as strong as him, or as fast!
"Ughhh, Koga you there?" Gintu said as Hakaku waved his hand in front of his face.
"Stop that you moron we need to get going and find her before she finds that bastard!"
With that the hunt was on again, running around in circles never getting anywhere near her as they ran in the opposite direction thanks to the help of a cretin demon who carried in his hand a white shirt that held the missing miko's sent on it. The demon decided he would help the wolf get some much needed exercise, after all every demon needs to stay fit even the idiotic ones he wished to kill. But that would be for another day.
And so the small pack of wolves continued to follow the faint sent of their "lost" sister.

As the sun rose in the east so did a very hungry kit, rolling over on to his side and pushing him self up in to a very drowsy sitting position his head rolled around till he saw his mother was still fast asleep. Yawning Shippo decided to try and find his own breakfast and began to rummage in the very large yellow bag only to end up toppling over and into it. Sitting up quickly as too appear as if he didn't just fall in he looked over to make sure his mother did not see, sighing and then grinning he began to rummage once more throwing this and that out of the bag letting things land where ever it pleased until he heard his mothers throat clear. Turning around slowly he saw her sitting with her arms crossed and a book opened in front of her.
"Shippo? What are you doing?"
"Ugh, looking for breakfast?" he said sleeply.
"Well next time you are hungry wake me up and I will get you something you don't have to through things at Me.(sigh) now let's see."
She removed him from the bag and opened the zipper and pulled out the rest of the bars she had in there.
"Here you go Hun now we have to get moving again I think we are almost there see, we can see the slope of the mountain through these trees." She said pointing towards the large scaling ring of mountains.
They had continued walking for what seemed like an eternity never quiet knowing when they were finally going to reach the base, and Sesshomaru's marks did not help either it simply felt like he was putting them through a serpentine fashion of walking left then right left then right. Ohhhhh was he going to get a piece of her mind once she saw him, slowly but surely they made it to the base of the empowering structure before them, now the only question was how the hell do they get over it! She could not feel any more of his presence nearby and nor could Shippo, they tried to climb up the steep front but she could never get a good footing and she didn't want to end up falling to her death.
" Hey Shippo do you think you could float us over the top?" she asked hopefully.
"I don't know momma, it looks really high I don't think I could hold that shape for that long. Not to mention if we do won't Koga and the other be able to see us?"
"Yah I guess your right but how on earth does he expect us to get over this?"
"In the mountains
In the breeze"
"Momma do you hear that?" Said Shippo as he began running towards the distant sound of singing.
"Hear what! Shippo wait!" she said as she chased after him. Following him as he jumped up a bolder and then another till he began to walk up a small path to the face of the mountain.
"In the forest
In my dreams"
"That! Listen someone's singing! Its coming from over here!" he said as he than disappeared into the face.
"SHIPPO! Come back here! You have no idea what's in there! You could get hurt! Wait!" she yelled after him as she tried to keep up with the very exited kit who was now out of her sight as she found the tunnel he took off in the darkness enveloped her as she made her way through only to see a small opening at the end. As she got closer and closer to it she could start to hear what he had.
"I will wait for you
On my own."
She moved slowly through the cave running her hand over the wall to help her keep on track and follow the path of light. The voice was so low but it seemed so familiar to her like she had heard it before. She continued walking till she became blinded by the light as she emerged into an opened area, it took a moment or too to readjust her eyesight to the new environment. She looked around the meadow she had come across till she saw Shippo jumping up and down with a very exited Rin.
"Rin! What are you doing here?" she said as she moved over to where the children were. Rin looked over to the adult who said her name and the biggest smile spread over her face as she ran over to her calling out her name and embracing her legs in a hug nearly tumbling Kagome and Rin over.
"Kagome-ne-san! You found us! I knew you would, I told Lord Sesshomaru you would!" she said in to her legs as she continued to laugh and hug her. Shippo jumping on her shoulder laughing as well.
"Rin, what do you mean? Where is Lord Sesshomaru?" she said as she pried the child gently off her legs and knelt down to look at her.
"Rin doesn't know, we came here last night and then Lord Sesshomaru told us to stay here and not leave till he came back, and if I was very good I would get a surprise and I did I got you!" she said hugging her around the neck. Kagome returned the hug full force and brought Shippo into it hugging them both tightly to her chest.
"So he simply left you here all by yourself?" she said puling Rin away a little to look at the child.
"No, that's silly lord Sesshomaru would never do that.(she said as if it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard.) Rin has Ah-Un!" as she said this the large dragon lifted their heads to look at the miko. Kagome nodded to the dragon and it lowered its head once more to the soft grass it was resting on. Sighing Kagome stood up and looked around her surroundings trying to find another mark left by Sesshomaru; if there was one; anywhere within sight. However she felt nothing coming from the forest around her as she did in the valley. Looking behind her she saw the huge mountain that she had somehow managed to escape from, smiling she shook her head if it was not for him she would have never found her way out. Kagome looked over at the too children as they played in the grass and decided it was time to keep moving she need to get back home and to her friends.
"Rin, we should get going it's not safe for us to stay here. Shippo and I are going to go to my village, would you like to come with us?" she would not leave her here alone.
Rin's big brown eyes lit up with excitement as she nodded her head in the affirmative yes. " Can Ah-Un come too?"
Upon hearing their name again the large beast looked at the miko as if saying 'can we ?'
Well she hadn't though about It but she guessed he could come Sesshomaru wouldn't like it if he just found the dragon and not Rin. OH CARP! She forgot about Sesshomaru he would not be too happy if he came back and found her missing now would he. He placed Rin here to keep her safe and she would be taking her way form here maybe putting her in harms way.
"Rin, I'm not so sure now if you should, didn't Sesshomaru want you to wait for him here?" The little girls smile disappeared a little as she thought about what would happen if her lord could not find her. But her lord always found her, no matter what now would be no different.
"Umm he didn't say I couldn't go with you and Rin would be much safer going with Kagome-neesan and Shippo then being here by herself right?"
Looking at the little girl like she had grown a second head Kagome nodded.
* Dang she sure does know how to get what she wants.*
"All right Rin you can come with us and you too I suppose, she said looking at the dragon, smiling at them as it nodded their heads in thanks. "Alright then let's go." She said standing up and grabbing her backpack she began to walk towards when she felt a tug that nearly sent her falling backwards. Looking behind her at what was currently halting her from moving, she saw Ah-un had grabbed her by the backpack.
"What are you doing ?"
The long head that held her simply lifted her up and swung her up and onto their back like as sack of potatoes. She then heard a very loud amount of giggling coming from below her.
"I think Ah-Un would like you to ride him mamma." Said Shippo sighing Kagome straightened herself upon the dragon's back and said. "Well we shouldn't disappoint him than should we. Come on you two hop on." She said while patting the animals hide. Rin and Shippo both cheered as they ran over and climbed upon the dragon's back both sitting in front of Kagome holding on to each other in her arms. Once Kagome felt them secure she said. "Alright then, now how to make him go?" however before she could get an answer from Rin said "him" was in the air heading west.

Now Ah-Un knew their master had left them alone in the clearing for a reason. They were to await the young miko and take her to her village which just so happened to be in the middle of their lords lands. Keeping the miko out of reach from the wolf and his pack. So when he heard the miko tell him to go in the direction they were already headed they simply growled and kept moving onwards, content in the knowledge of the trust their master placed in them.

Sesshomaru was very amused as he watched the wolf move first in an array of zigzags followed by double backing twice and then heading in the northern direction. The wolf pup was a truly dense creature to have fallen for so easy a trick. It was obvious to any true predator that this was a simple diversion tactic and if the wolf actually took the time to find the correct path he would have discovered exactly where his prey had gone. But Sesshomaru had been most pleased when the wolf did exactly what was predicted of him; run around with his head in his ass in every direction. If Sesshomaru was one to laugh then he would be doing so now. Lifting to his nose a white garment he inhaled the sweet scent of cherry blossoms which was causing so much of his current enjoyment. He made sure to keep his own scent concealed as he moved further and further north which would keep that wolf busy for some time. While in the west his lovely little miko was moving deeper into his own territory. He was quite pleased with himself, a curse came from below his vantage point and he decided he better keep the scent fresh. Let the wolf believe he was getting somewhere, once it reached midnight Sesshomaru would stop and return to those lovely arms he was so amiss to leave prior. Jumping for his perch to another he continued his game with the wolf.

Kagome heard the little ones yawn as they awoke from the nap they had taken while they flew atop the clouds. Smiling down at them she greeted them with a "good morning" with both children asking the age old question. "Are we there yet?" giggling Kagome responded "Not yet but soon." "But when mommy I'm getting hungry." "And Rin needs to go potty." Sighing Kagome simply nodded and asked Ah-Un if they would take them down and camp for the night. The large beast complied and began to land in an opened area. Once they had landed safely Rin jumped off and ran off into the woods. "Rin don't run off too far!" Kagome called after the little girl. Lifting her backpack off her shoulders she began to set up camp.
She had moved them out of the clearing once Rin had returned , and more into the trees thought there was only a few here and there Kagome felt a little safer having some coverage from above than none. "Shippo can you sense any water nearby?" Kagome asked seeing if they could restock their supplies. "No momma sorry."
"its ok, no worries," and with that she pulled out her cooking pit and pots pouring the water she had in one of the large bottles she began to make some instant ramen. It wasn't her favorite thing but at the moment it sure did taste good. As soon as they finished Kagome cleaned the dirty dishes with the remaining water, making sure to save enough for tomorrow's meal. She didn't think it would take them that long till they got to the village but she wanted to make sure they would not run out of water. As she pulled out her sleeping bag she placed both children in it and kissing them both goodnights she laid herself down next to one of the trees next to her and stared up at the sky. She listened as the two whispered quietly about what they were going to so tomorrow till they both fell asleep, leaving Kagome alone with just her thoughts.
' we must be close by now , or did he really take me so far away?' sighing Kagome then sat up and moved over to the small fire pit she had made to cook on and threw another branch on it , she did not need to catch a cold, especially not now with two children to take care of. 'And that's another thing how can Sesshomaru just leave Rin all by herself like that? . . . . . ohhh he is going to get an earful from me! I mean what if it was our own child he left just waiting like that I'd kill him.' Now there was a question if they had children they would be hanyo, would he want children with her? If they did have any would he accept them? Or would he treat with the same disgust and hate as Inuyasha? Why would he propose a relationship with her if he knew any children they would conceive would be hanyo? Unless he didn't care, or . . . maybe he would accept them? If they were his and hers, would he love them as he did Rin. After all she was human, and he cared for her deeply. Uhhhhggg too many questions she shook her head to try and clear her mind and focus on trying to get some sleep; but it kept escaping her. She was so used to waiting for her midnight rendezvoused that now she was having trouble getting to sleep. Deciding it would help if she tiered herself out a little; she got up and moved over to the large dragon, making sure she had their attention she told the dragon she was going to walk just a little ways off and she would be back and to watch the children. Nodding the their head to the miko Kagome felt a little to feel a little better and began to walk around the area making sure she could still see the glow of the fire; she just needed to tier herself out. After all tomorrow was going to be a long day of traveling and her body was stiff and tiered. Now if only her mind would stop running a mile a minuet so she could sleep everything would be fine. She then had an idea she began to count backwards from 100. Making her way back to camp counting as she went, she soon began to feel sleepy; when she reached her previous spot she could barely keep her eyes open. "63, 62, 61, (yawn) no wonder doctors tell you to do this." Yawing again as she got comfy and then fell asleep.
When Sesshomaru finally saw the moon high in the sky registering the time he looked around where he was, he had traveled to the far north side of the mountain range and had even went as far as to go up it making the wolf believe she had began climbing out of the range. He was going to leave the garment hidden in some crack of the face but decided against it, the wolf would figure out someone had placed it there, even if he was stupid enough to believe the ruse this far he doubted it would not pass him by that someone was behind it all. Taking the garment out form beneath his hiori he once again allowed the scent to spread around the area. Concealing it once more he began upwards a while until he noticed out of the corner of his eye a bird nest nestled between some rocks with two little eggs under some feathers. Smirking to himself he once again removed the shirt and tore a long piece free from it. Weaving it into the nest he looked back at his handy work, nodding in satisfaction he then began climbing higher till her reached the peak. He then gathered his cloud beneth his feet and began his journey to his awaiting pack.

They were getting closer he could tell her scent was becoming stronger in certain areas which meant she was taking breaks every now and then with her being human he knew it was only a matter of time before he found her asleep somewhere. They were almost to the mountain range and there was no way she could scale that whole thing without help . . . Could she? As he thought about it he realize she had managed to evade them for almost two days, it was going on early morning He could see signs of the sky brightening and the moon fading for the sun. What if she had already gotten over the mountain and was making her way westward? Nahh- He would still catch up with her before she got anywhere near the top of the ridge. behind him he saw his two brothers struggling slowly to catch up with him. "Hurry up you two!" " just wait one moment please Koga!" " yah, even without the shards your still one of the fastest. " " Well if You two had not lost her in the first place we would not be in this mess Would we? " " no offense Koga But like we said earlier if you had just taken her to her family in the first plac- " " Shut the hell up the both of you and keep moving" With that they moved closer and closer to the edge of the range. when they finally reached the face the sun was already peeking over the east Peaks and Koga began cursing all over again. "Ha- I can smell her, She's close they must have gotten stuck somewhere. Come on you two she's somewhere up there the faster we get her the faster you two can rest." With that said Koga began jumping from ledge to ledge her scent becoming stronger still but he could not sense her anywhere! Moving higher up he began calling her name out hoping she would show herself to him but there was no answer. " Kagome! C,one out! I'm sorry for acting like a jerk!" Still no answer. ' damn, thought that would work.' He jumped another ledge " I understand what you were saying I wasn't spending enough time with you. you're right how can you really love someone that isn't there for you! I promise to change! Kagome!" He jumped to the ledge where her sent was the strongest he looked around but he didn't see anything nor anywhere she could hide. There was nothing but then . . . Where was she?
He followed his nose till where her sent was the strongest and then he found it. Hakkaku and Gintu heard his howl from their positions helping each other up the face to reach Koga looking at each other they knew it was bad. As quickly as they could they made their way up to find Koga fighting to control his beast. They smelled sisters sent in his hands and saw what appeared to be a long white piece of fabric clutched in his fist. It then dawned on them what had happened. Neither one said a word and just waited for him to speak but he never did instead it soon became clear who was in charge of their prince. The air around them began to howl as it whipped around soon they felt his yoki expanding all around the area and as quickly as they could they ran towards the bottom of the cliff to escape the transformation they knew was coming. The lower-class wolves were already running away when they reach the bottom they two thought of running but new better. They could see the red energy swirling around Koga until it collided within him the then another low loud howl was heard and on the face of the mountain was a 15 foot brown wolf. His eyes had turned blood red and his canines were enlarged and protruding from his mouth on both top and bottom. He leapt down from the spot he was at only to land in front of his pack brothers. Both men fell to their backs immediately bellying up trying their best not to be killed by Kogas beast. As a large wolf sniff them both he quickly left over them and begin running south. Once he was out of sight both men look at the path of destroyed trees and upturned rocks and then at each other. "What are we going to do Gintu?" " what else can we do? You remember what happened last time this happened." " yah I still have the scar . . . Fine but this time your telling him" " what that's not fair!" With that said Gintu and Hakkaku both took off heading to the far eastern side of the mountain range both running as fast as they could. Knowing with Koga in the state he was in now was dangerous for the whole valley. " where do you think he will go first?" Panting Hakkaku said. " we'll he will probably go back to the clearing where her sent was the strongest and and search for her there. But who knows how long he will stay in his form, last time it was three days before he would change back." Sighing Gintu said " Well at least that will give us a day maybe less to get home before he really starts messing things up." " yah but let's hurry faster anyway." Both demons began running faster than before hoping to make it home before all hell broke loose.

Gintu and Hakkaku could see the mountain range coming up they ran through the small village that was placed below it and move quickly through all the wolves that were in their way. Racing past the guards and moving up the side of the cliff they ran to the large entrance. They had been traveling since they woke early that morning and only took a few rest in between to allow the children to stretch and such. Once they touched ground the children hopped off his back and started to run around the area only to be called back to Kagomes side when the dragons began to move deeper in to the wood s from the open field they landed in. They continued to walk for about an hour till they reached an area with a small waterfall falling into a large spring and flowing down to connect with a larger stream. The area was a large enough to set up camp and they would have water for drinking as well as an area to bathe, which Kagome was great full for.
