Hey guys,
Before I get on with the show, I really want to apologize for making you guys wait this long. This semester was just a nightmare in terms of writing projects, and in the midst of it all, I had not only started falling out of love with this story but with creative writing in general. However a couple of days ago I was watching a video about Fairy Tail and I found myself really wanting to write again, and thankfully, at long last, I managed to get to writing, and for the first time in months, found myself enjoying it!
To all of you who have continued supporting this story despite the long haitus, I thank you. It really helped knowing that people were looking forward to me 'picking up the pen' once more.
I'll try not to let all of you go so long without and update again, but once more, the fact people have continued supporting me means the world, and I thank each and every one of you.
Now at long last...
Fairy Tail is owned by Hiro Mashima, A-1 Pictures, TV Tokyo, and Funimation.

Erza Scarlet's P.O.V.
"Damn it Evergreen, where are you hiding?!" She snarled to herself as she ran through Magnolia, her black thigh-high boots clacking against the stone road, Kicking up a pebble or two with her rushed pace. Pausing in her tracks as she heard a nearby villager call out in her direction, "Hey there Erza, that's a pretty crazy get up you got on there!" a middle aged man said to her. She glanced down and blushed "I forgot to requip…"she realized, feeling slighted embarrassed with her current choice of dress but what could she do about that? She was in a hurry after all! And with pressing matters to attend to atop of that
"We saw a bunch of guys from your guild earlier, think you could ask them to stop wrecking the town?" another man asked nervously.
Erza took half a moment to gather her thoughts. 'I can't let them know what's going on.' She decided, 'I have to keep everyone calm.' she cooed inwardly, before smiling at the two men, "They're just preparing for the big parade." She said in a calm charming tone. Playing the ever upstanding guild member.
The larger of the two men put his hand on his hips and frowned, "I don't see what that has to do with fighting." His voice holding a hint of skepticism in it.
"I promise it'll be a good show." Erza cooed, smiling as she quickly turned on her heel and ran off once more, hearing the two men wave off the actions of the other guild members. She growled and focused on finding Evergreen once again, if only Goku were here. She thought, slightly distracted by that thought.
There was a noise above her. She snapped her head up just in time to see a multitude of golden attacks raining down on her. Silently, she jumped backwards, the attacks crashing where she had been moments earlier. 'Found her' Erza thought, silently joyful Evergreen had come to her instead of having to waste time in tracking down the self-proclaimed Queen of Fairies. Continuing to stay silent, Erza grunted and looked up at the rooftop, narrowing her eyes at the fairy winged mage, whom stood confidently with all of the arrogance the world.
"My, my, that's odd… I seem to recall turning you into a statue!" Evergreen sneered, placing a hand on her curvy hip while her other held a wand like object, "Well no matter! This gives me an excuse to torment you further!"
Erza began to wonder how she had managed to break free from her stoned prison, She tried to deduce it down to the ki energy that has been accumulating inside of her, Before her eyes would widen, Her artificial eye! The magic compounds must've had some reverse effect on the statue's magic, With this newfound knowledge, Erza smirked, "You want to fight me?" She demanded, dropping into a battle stance. Once she's dealt with, Juvia and the others will be free. Who knows, maybe Levy will even be able to free Natsu and the others! She thought, smirking in hope, knowing any of the Saiyans could finish this easily.
"Boorish." Ever sneered back, as if the brutish display of battle disgusted her." and they call you Queen of the Fairies? I will show you who the true Fairy Queen is!"
Erza had enough, she jumped upwards while roaring, Ever sneered and jumped, magical wings appearing on her back as she retreated into the sky. Erza smirked as she realized Ever didn't know she could fly now! Erza quickly closed the distance, Ever's eyes widening in shock, "How are you moving so fast?!" She demanded, barely managing to dodge Erza before her fist slammed into the massive silo-like building, as the stone of the building cracked under her fist, she had to smirk.
She didn't like admitting it, but it felt good being so strong without her magic! She didn't need to rely on her sword or her armor to be strong anymore! 'It's like I said in the tower… I don't need to hide behind a suit of armor.' She thought, flipping over and landing on a nearby building across from Evergreen. Erza let out a soft bark of laughter at the rage on Evergreen's face.
"Y-You," Evergreen snarled, "how did you almost hit me without using your magic?!"
Erza smirked softly and requiped to the outfit Goku had given her. "You've been gone quiet a long time Evergreen, and you missed out on a lot."
Evergreen managed to regain her composure a bit and sneer at her, "Oh you mean those wannabe aliens Laxus told us about?" She laughed, "No matter how strong they are, they can't help you from inside that barrier!"
Evergreen's smile died as Erza leapt forward. She could take insults to herself, but not to Goku… not to my father! "Touched a nerve did I?" Ever smirked, raising her glasses up. Erza snapped her left eye closed, negating Ever's attack.
"THAT WON'T WORK!" Erza snarled as Ever dodged once more, Erza's fist missing by mere inches.
"Oh so that disgusting fake eye was actually good for something?!" Ever sneered at Erza, flipping backwards and spreading her arms, "Let's see how you deal with my Fairy Machinegun: LEPRCHAUN!" Evergreen roared and tiny bullets of light shot towards Erza. The redheaded knight narrowed her eyes, the bullets seemed deceptively… slow. She quickly ducked her way through an entire field of them, occasionally slapping one or two away with her hand, closing the distance once more.
Again Ever flew backwards, Erza snarled out, "COWARD!" and gave chase, flying to help keep up.
"Let's see how you handle twice as many!" Ever shouted, spinning around and facing Erza, just as the knight had landed on a roof. This time, the number of bullets was doubled, and Erza didn't have time to think before she had to dodge them, darting through the gaps, but she could feel a few hit her, one grazing her arm, another her thigh, and yet another sliding past her midriff as she was turned sideways. 'Damn it… I needto… stop this!' Erza snarled inwardly, ignoring the mad cackling of Evergreen. "NOW I WILL BE THE TRUE FAIRY QUEEN!"
Suddenly, Erza remembered her fight with Jellal, when he had her trapped within the prison of void magic. That's it! She thought, before she stopped dodging. Roaring, she threw her farms out and let her ki swell, a bright white ball of light surrounded her body and she could see all of her opponent's attacks dissolving in her ki, and beyond, she could see the surprise in Evergreen's eyes, as well as Evergreen cut her attack off.
'SHE'S OPEN!' Erza shouted inwardly before clenching her muscles and focusing every bit of ki in her body. She could feel it swelling, growing, the aura around her body turning blood red, and before Erza spoke she could see the fear in Evergreen's eyes. And then Erza roared one word.
"KAIO-KEN!"
"Kaio-what?" Ever questioned, cocking her head to the side in confusion.
Just like with Jellal the final rush happened. She could feel her muscles growing larger and more defined, as well as the light feeling of her hair being swept up. But like then… the biggest change was the feeling of raw power, overtaking every one of Erza's senses and making her feel like a mere conduit for its fury.
She growled and pushed her foot into the ground beneath her, propelling herself towards Evergreen, she watched as Ever's head snapped from side to side in panic. 'She didn't even see me move!' Erza thought with wicked glee as she flew right in front of her opponent.
"HOW DID-" Evergreen roared. Erza assumed it would be very disorienting to have the person you were fighting suddenly appear right in front of you. The sympathy she felt still didn't stop her from pulling her fist back and slamming it into Evergreen's stomach, nor from grinning as Ever flew back to slam against another building.
Erza snapped her arm out and shot two ki blasts at Ever, both of which turned into bright golden rings and wrapped around Evergreen's wrists, binding her to the building behind her while Erza landed. With a soft sigh she released her Kaio-ken, 'I managed to use a lot less energy this time than with Jellal. Still though, I shouldn't rely too much on it, it drains my power too fast.'She thought, rolling her shoulders as she walked up to Evergreen, who was struggling to free herself from the ki-rings. Erza smirked as she remembered Goku teaching her how to use the attack.
"Trust me Erza," Goku had grinned. "I know how useful the attack can be. Especially since Vegeta had me on the wrong end of it once!"
"Really?!"
"Mhmm! He had me pinned against a rock and everything! It's a really effective way to restrain someone!"
The memory faded as Erza approached Evergreen. "Now then, you will free the rest of the girls." Erza ordered, and then for effect, "Or else."
"STOP!" Evergreen barked with a mad laugh, Erza paused out of instinct, "TAKE ONE STEP CLOSER AND I'LL DESTROY THE OTHERS!"
Erza paused, 'That's right. She can control the statues with remote control.'Erza thought. She could see the pure, crazed desperation in Ever's eyes. The redheaded Knight had to hide her smirk, 'She's even more foolish than I thought.'Erza bemusedly thought to herself. She arched her head back and breathed softly, her hair fluttering outwards as she requipped into her Heaven's Wheel armor.
Erza had to keep from laughing as she saw the shock and fear in Evergreen's eyes. She kept that amusement hidden, and in a cold, emotionless tone of voice, spoke, "I have to say I'm impressed Ever. I never thought you were the type to die for your principles." Erza's voice grew colder, "if the girls' lives must be sacrificed to stop Laxus, then so be it, but know that your life will be taken as well."
Erza took enough time to watch the fear and panic cross Ever's face. She knew she had won before Erza would snap her first out to punch Ever's nose. "If you're going to bluff, do it right." Erza sighed, utterly unimpressed with Ever's little show.
"… Okay. You win."
Fairy Tail Guild Hall: Future Trunks P.O.V.
Crack!
Trunks spun around as the sound of splitting stone echoed through the guild hall… and fell completely silent, along with everyone else, at the sight of Bisca in her bikini, no longer made of stone. "W-What… What just happened?" She questioned, before another crack sounded out.
Levy stood beside Bisca, free from the stone as well. Then Juiva was freed, then Cana, then finally, Mirajane's body returned to its natural state. The amount of relief that hit Trunks made him stagger, and it was only Gohan yelling, "VIDEL!" joyfully moments later to snap him from his trance. He smiled when he saw Gohan joyfully pick up Videl and spin her around.
Trunks walked over to Mirajane and smiled at her, "Hey." He said softly, snapping her from her confused stupor for a moment.
"Hey." She responded, and Trunks could feel his heart flutter at the smile she gave him.
"How," He paused, before asking the most important thing on his mind. "How are you feeling?"
Mirajane giggled softly and glanced over to everyone else, Trunks glanced over as well and noticed that Cana, Levy, and Bisca were looking at the two of them. Trunks shivered nervously at their knowing stares before turning back to Mira who finally giggled and responded softly. "I'm fine…. A bit confused! But fine."
Trunks sighed and smiled back at her. "Good." He said simply, before being interrupted by the ever bombastic Cana.
"She's not the only one that's confused!" Cana blurted out, "Does anyone care to tell me what happened?!" She growled out, already heading over to the bar to get a drink. Trunks shared a look with the other men, Well, he is probably the smartest. Trunks thought of a certain man in particular, then turned to Gohan, out of the corner of his eye, he could see the Gohan and the younger version of himself do the same… And then the girls did as well.
"Well, I guess the best place to start would be when you guys were frozen." Gohan started, and then started with a brief, but albeit thorough summary of everything that had happened. Trunks looking concerned over a Mirajane a few times, but she was too engrossed in the story the first couple of times he looked to notice, and when she did, Trunks felt her hand squeeze his own for a moment as she flashed him a reassuring smile. Trunks felt his cheeks grow hot for a moment before Mira turned her attention back to Gohan. "So yeah," Gohan said, once he was finished. "That's basically everything."
Cana was the first one to speak, grinning confidently as she eagerly pointed out, "So with us back, that means Laxus doesn't have any hostages!" She cheered. Trunks realized she was right and traded a victorious grin with Gohan.
"If that's true." Trunks said, looking over the rest of the girls with a smirk, "That means the rest of you ladies are free to go and hunt down Laxus and the others in your own time!"
"Hold on." Natsu said flatly, everyone turned to face the pinkette. "Don't you think you're going a little too far? I mean, I bet Laxus was just trying to have a little fun for the festival!" Trunks frowned as the rest of the group started muttering about Natsu's innocence. 'He can't really believe that can he? Not after everything Laxus has done.' Trunks mused, frowning at Natsu, then glancing down at Mirajane, who was smiling softly at Natsu's innocence. 'Or,' Trunks thought with a small smile. 'I've just become a cynic.'
"So, let's let the second Battle of Fairy Tail begin!" Natsu cheered. Trunks had to keep himself from falling over from laughter, Lucy, Levy, and Bisca all looked shocked, and Mira giggled.
Suddenly, there was an excited shout of "OKAY!" Trunks's eyes snapped open to see Goten shooting across the room. Natsu was still smiling, having no idea what was about to happen. Trunks winced sympathetically as Goten's fist slammed into Natsu's face faster than Trunks knew Natsu would be able to see. Natsu went flying backwards as the girls gasped in shock. The only thing that kept Natsu from flying back into the wall was Gohan's hand snapping out to catch him.
"W-What just happened?" Natsu blinked as he swung by his shirt collar.
"Goten took your enthusiasm a little too literally." Gohan responded, setting Natsu down and pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Hey!" Goten huffed, "He said he wanted to fight!" Suddenly, the youngest saiyan gasped and started flailing as he was lifted up by his hear along by Chichi. "I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY!" He squealed, flailing wildly in his mom's punishment.
"I guess there are a few things even a Super Saiyan is afraid of!" Bisca laughed softly. Trunks grinned at her joke as he heard the other girls all giggled. For just a moment, Trunks allowed himself to relax and look around, smiling as for the first time that day, he felt hopeful. Mira was free and by his side. Lucy, Cana, Bisca, and Levy were all laughing and giggling at Goten's punishment. The younger version of himself stood by Bulma while Gohan made sure Natsu was okay, the formers hand wrapped tightly around Videl's. He looked lastly at Juvia and Gajeel. Gajeel looked rather indifferent, but Juvia had a smile of lingering affection at her new guild mates.
Just as Trunks had a few moments of relaxation, the runes blocking the door started floating inwards. He blinked and looked around, nobody else had noticed, 'Damn it.' He thought angrily. "Guys." He stated, getting everyone's attention.
"What now?" he heard Cana sigh. Trunks quickly slid protectively in front of Mirajane. He glanced over and saw Gohan do the same with Videl, while Goten and the younger version of himself jumped forward to stand between the two older Saiyans. Trunks's eyes met Gohan's for a moment, he mouthed, "Are you ready?"
Gohan's face grew grim, but he nodded before turning back to the floating mass of runes. Trunks almost had to roll his eyes as he saw the skull shape it had taken.
"Can you hear me, old man?!" Laxus's voice erupted from the blood red skull.
"Laxus." Natsu snarled.
"One of the rules has gone out the window, that's fine. I'm just going to add a new one. To ensure the Battle of Fairy Tail continues, I've activated the Thunder Palace."
"THE THUNDER PALACE?!" Makarov gasped, Trunks took a moment to snap his head around. The look of fear in Makarov's eyes was all Trunks needed to see to know that whatever the Thunder Palace was, it was dangerous.
"You have over an hour." Laxus's voice continued, uncaring of Makarov's concern, "Do you have what it takes to defeat us, or will you give up, Master."
"LAXUS!" Makarov cried out as the rune-skull dissipated, "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, TRYING TO DRAG THE TOWNSPEOPLE INTO THIS?!" for a moment, Trunks believed Makarov was about to go all out of the barrier, before suddenly, Makarov gasped and grabbed at his chest.
"Master!" Cana cried.
"Gramps!" Natsu gasped.
"What's wrong?!" Trunks asked, his eyes wide as Makarov collapsed.
"It must be his heart!" Bisca responded as she ran up to Makarovs collapsed form.
Trunks felt Mira slide away from his side, "I'll go get his medicine!" she cried out as she ran. Trunks walked up to Makarov and frowned down at the man. 'He never even explained what the Thunder Palace was.' Trunks thought grimly, and right before he collapsed, he said something about the townspeople! A sickening worry filled Trunks as he stared down at Makarov's form, this could have just gotten a lot worse.
"Everyone look outside!"
Trunks jumped at the sound of Mira's voice, and he quickly ran out onto the guilds balcony, followed by the rest moments later. He gasped, What in the hell are those?! He thought, looking up at the floating yellow orbs in the sky. He closed his eyes and focused on sensing the energy around the area. 'T-The orbs are filled with energy!' he thought as his probing sense reached them, and his eyes snapped open. Gohan met his stare, looking just as worried as Trunks felt. "There's an incredible amount of lightning energy stored inside of them." Cana said coolly.
"Thunder Palace indeed." Trunks muttered.
"Wait," Lucy interjected, "what happens if the lacrimas discharge?"
Gohan sighed, "This is just a theory, but I'd guess the Thunder Palace lives up to its name and rains lightning from the sky." as Gohan finished speaking, Trunks felt his heart sink. He had been figuring the same thing but didn't want to say it.
"I'm not going to let that happen!" Bisca declared, "Requip: Sniper Rifle!" she roared, a scoped gun magically appearing in her hands.
"WAIT!" Trunks cried out, 'there's no way Laxus would leave something that important unguarded!' he thought. Unfortunately, he was too late to stop her from pulling the trigger. A beam of green magic shot through the sky, past the barrier, and collided with the floating lacrima. The ball of lightning magic exploded into dust.
"Alright!" Lucy cheered.
"Awesome!" Natsu agreed.
'Don't celebrate yet!' Trunks thought angrily, alert for an attack from any direction before Bisca cried out in agony. "What?!" He barked, watching her body crackle with electricity as she screamed a horrifying, wordless scream. As the magic died, Trunks sprang forward to catch her and cradle her to the ground.
The rest of the group crowed around them as Gohan asked, "What just happened?"
"It must be body link magic." Cana responded grimly. Trunks and the other saiyans turned to regard Cana with the same blank, questioning look. "It's a type of magic that deflects an attack and reflects it back at you!" her face grew grim, "in other words if we try to get rid of them, we'll be risking our own lives in the process."
Levy was crouched across from him, "What are we going to do?!" she questioned.
Trunks watched as Gohan stood and closed his eyes thoughtfully. "Cana," Gohan said in a calm commanding tone, "go try and find a member of the Thunder Legion. Juvia, you go with her." Gohan continued, before turning to Lucy. As he ordered her to evacuate the city, Trunks watched with an impressed smile, 'He's not completely like the Gohan I grew up with, but he's not the little boy from the Cell Games either.'
The girls immediately ran off to obey Gohan's orders as Natsu hopped over the railing, screaming, "Now you've gone too far!"
Gohan grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and lifted him back up. "That's not going to do any good right now! You'll just be wasting energy!" He growled, placing Natsu back down on the right side of the railing.
"I know!" Natsu growled, "But I hate being stuck here feeling useless!"
"I know how you feel!" Gohan shot back, "But we can't do anything with the enchantment blocking us in here!" Trunks could see the way Gohan's fist clenched angrily.
Levy was the next one to speak, making Trunks's head snap around in surprise. "Well if it's an enchantment, I might be able to break the spell!"
Trunks felt pure joy surge through him at those words. "Really?!" he exclaimed, pushing himself to his feet and staring excitedly at Levy.
"Of course!" Levy beamed brightly, "and when I do, you guys will be free to track down Laxus!"
A short while later
All Trunks could do was wait. Bisca and Makarov had been brought inside and laid down in the infirmary, his younger self and Goten were fighting, Gohan was sitting beside Levy scanning over some old tome and relaying anything that looked important to her. Even he and Gohan's mom had managed to busy themselves with cooking to take their minds off of things, but Trunks had nothing. He knew he could go over and help Levy, but Trunks's area of expertise was engineering, not linguistics or history, he'd probably be more of a hindrance than anything else.
To make matters worse, it was discovered that Mirajane had slipped out with Cana, Juvia, and Lucy. He felt guilty for being so worried. He knew her inner strength was far stronger than anyone he had met, save maybe his mother and Gohan, but he doubted she would be good in a fight, he remembered the conversation they had the night of his return from Earth.
"That's why I don't fight anymore. Because after Lisanna died… I lost my will."
Trunks shook his head. 'Focus.' He thought, and went back to what he had been doing to pass the time, focusing his energies on searching the area. He could feel everyone in the region, including the Thunder Legion. 'I should have told them where to go before they ran off!' he thought, angry at his lack of foresight at the time.
A few torturously long minutes passed before he sensed one of the three powers of the Thunder Legion converge onto Lucy's location. His eyes snapped open and he shot up, looking around the room. Nobody had sad anything, but both Trunks and Goten had stopped sparring to stare in the direction the power was coming from, and Gohan's jaw was clenched. 'Whoever she's fighting is stronger than her, but I can't count out her spirits, especially Aquarius and Loke.' he thought, scratching his chin. He hated the idea of having to wait it out, but he trusted her spirits to keep her safe. Trunks managed to keep tabs on the fight, sighing in relief as only a few minutes later he felt Loke enter the fray beside the spirits master.
It wasn't long after that he felt another one of the powers collide with Juvia and Cana. 'They're not too far away from where Mira is with Elfman,'he realized, his heartbeat quickening in fear. 'Please… stay away Mira…' he glanced over to where Gohan and Levy were both muttering over the last of the counter-enchantment, Videl hanging over her fiance's shoulder. 'I think Gohan actually is helping to speed this up.'Trunks thought, biting his lower lip. Natsu and Gajeel were arguing about something that didn't interest Trunks, the only thing he cared about was the fact that Mira and Elfman were almost right ontop of Cana and Juvia, and that…
"Guys!" He warned.
Gohan glanced up, "I know, I felt it too, but me and Levy just need to figure out this last bit!" he said in a short tone of voice. Trunks could hear annoyance at being interrupted.
Trunks felt his eye twitch. 'He knows damn well while I'm like this.' He growled inwardly, before closing his eyes and focusing on converging energies. They must be talking, he thought, and waited as the minutes ticked by. Finally, Juvia's power started to raise. For just a moment Trunks felt a little comforted, 'She's probably on par with whoever she's facing. I had no idea she was so powerful!'
Then it was gone.
Not totally gone but… the surge of power he had felt was gone. "Juvia!" Trunks cried out, both mentally and physically.
"I know!" Gohan snapped back. Trunks opened his eyes and stared at Gohan. This time he saw worry. Gohan would know the pain Trunks was in right now. The frustration in being powerless to help someone you love.
Trunks closed his eyes again, gritting his teeth and trying to focus on the fight. Whoever this person was, they were far stronger than Cana. He could feel Cana's power slowly dropping with every moment. 'Cana… no…' he thought. The last time he felt this worthless was with the androids… it had been years since then and now he was forced to live in that hell again!
Finally, Cana reached the same state as Juvia, and then… Elfman. Trunks thought. If Elfman was there, Mirajane would be there. This was Trunks's nightmare. His teeth gritted and he could feel his power rising as rage pumped through his veins.
"Got it!" Levy declared.
Trunks's eye snapped open, "Then do it, now!" he said, trying to time everything out, planning out the time it would take to get there and save Mirajane!
Suddenly… Mirajane's power changed. Normally her power was pure and pristine… but something had twisted. Her power grew dark and malignant, and not only that but it was growing rapidly. Her power had shot above anything he had felt from one in the guild, save Natsu atop the Tower of Heaven, and of course Erza.
"What's that?" Goten asked innocently, cocking his eyebrow up in confusion.
Gohan's mouth was slightly agape in shock from what both he and Trunks were sensing."It can't be."
Trunks let fear and confusion wash over him as he sensed the change in his girlfriend's being.
Mirajane!
