Chapter 25: That Moment of Escape

Isis and Téa continued down the hallway and into the Chamber where all the preserve herbs are being kept, and has a door that leads to the private herbs garden. The chamber was as big as the Healing Chamber, though this one is for herbal storage and making varieties of medicine more than anything.

When they got into the Chamber, Isis immediately went to the bookshelf to get the herbal book while Téa began heating up the pot full of water. When Isis found the book she didn't waste time and walked towards the Princess as she opened it to look for the page Téa told her to find.

"It's in page 367 of the Chinese Herbal book that you have. I'm sure you have the translated series of the book from my aunt last year." The witch said while they were still walking down the hallway, "I used to read it with her since she wanted me to become a medic like her."

When Isis found the page she was looking for, she found that this needed 15 different types of herbs. She frowned when she saw that the ingredients need one herb that's impossible to find or grow in Egypt.

"Princess Téa, are you sure this is right? most of them looks like a treatment for a poison Ivy. And we don't have this herb they're talking about." she stated in concern. Téa looked at the book Isis was holding, squinting her eyes as she reads the said herb.

"Ah, I think I got that in my kit. Guard!" Téa called while Isis put down the book to look for the other herbs. She knew that she can't go anywhere unless she's with Isis so she called the guard to go get it for her.

When the guard was gone, Isis came back with five herbs.

"I think these are what we need. Now for the others..."

"I'll go get those missing herbs and you start grinding them while we wait for my kit." Téa said as she took an empty basket beside the pot.

Isis agreed and went to get the grinding stone. Two grind herbs later and the guard was back with Téa's kit. Isis thank the man before she opened it to look for said missing herb. Téa came back with the now full basket and saw Isis looking through her kit.

"There's a bottom layer to keep the herbs in wooden containers; look at the top-right corner of the kit, it should be labelled by the name of the herb we'll be needing." She informed. Isis just nodded and did what was told.

Téa went to get her own grinding stone and the two woman went to work.

"This ain't doing us any good!" Jou was completely annoyed. This wasn't their plan. Their plan was to look for Yugi, not get caught by some dumb slave traders.

"Untie us this instant you stupid slave traders! we're still in Palace territory! If one of the guards sees you then you'll be in trouble!" Marik exclaimed, while Ryou just giggled behind him. He couldn't help but notice how Malik's choice of wordings are rubbing off of his friend.

"That's right ya big bummers! Untie us!" Jou commanded even though he knew it was futile.

The slave traders just laughed them off before hauling them inside a cart tent.
"Hey watch it!" Marik grunted.

Jou kept complaining about how stupid their plan was and how dumb the slave traders can be. They knew that stealing a palace slave could mean trouble; especially if said slaves are very valuable and important to the main occupants of the Palace. Ryou took this opportunity to take out a small but sharp garment from his belt that's probably enough to cut the rope that binds their wrists together.

"Keep complaining Jou, just give me time and minimize your movements if you want to get out." Ryou whispered to the dirty blonde before he started rubbing the sharp thing on the rope. Luckily, the rope was thin now -since he's been doing this for quite sometime between their stay in this disgusting portion of the place they were in- so he's confident that they'll be out before the sun goes down today.

Jou slightly nodded and went on complaining, Marik joining his friend on being noisy.

Marik, being on the quiet side for most of his life, really enjoyed being rowdy with his friend Jou from time to time. Makes him wonder if his quiet demeanor was just a shell to isolate his true self...But he never bothered cracking it.

"Almost done guys, just wait for it." Ryou whispered.

Jou slurred a bit; he was already tired of complaining. They haven't even eaten anything since the day they realized that Yugi was missing. And that was days ago! these slave traders were kind enough to give them water to drink but they didn't give them any type of food.

One time when Jou complained about not giving them food, one of the slave traders gave them poison berries. Fortunately, the three knew what it was because of Isis and did not reach for it. After that, they decided that water was better than nothing.

"I can feel the rope loosing." Marik stated, "Don't break formation just yet."

"I feel ya, mate. Now the plan, once the rope is broken and the coast is clear, we break for it. Got it?" Jou asked in a low volume as he shifted a bit to look at the opening of the tent properly. He felt the two nod their head against his while at the same time felt the rope falling from their wrists.

Jou stuck his head at the opening of the tent and saw no slave traders in the perimeter. Once confirmed, he hopped down and sprinted to the direction of the Palace, Ryou and Malik following behind.

"Priestess, it's almost done, you should prepare a container for it now." Téa informed the Medic, while stirring the said medicine in the pot.

"That looks enough to last a year." Isis said and Téa agreed. It was better to create more for the future in case it happens again. But first, they needed to get the needed amount to the Pharaohs fast.

Isis went ahead and poured in two scoops of the medicine into the container while the rest was poured by Téa and a guard into the barrel they asked from another guard earlier.

"This should do it." Isis murmured as she put the container full of medicine on a tray, along with two cups of water and spoons.

Téa, finished with the barrel of medicine, went beside Isis to look at the set up she made and sighed. She patted Isis' shoulder and told her that they should get going before anything gets worse. Isis nodded in agreement before lifting up the tray and walk along side the witch.

"Let's go~" Téa said as she and Isis walked out of the Chamber.
