Hiccup's eyes struggled to open, he felt as if a scorpion got inside of him and made a nest in his throat. Every single movement he makes hurts, deep breathes could be heard and that was coming from him.

Blinding light entered his vision which made it harder for him to open, but soon enough he opened them fully. He knew he wasn't at home, the walls of the room was painted in a bluish white tint. He was in the hospital, the beeps from the monitors told him that

Memories from before surged through his mind so fast it gave him a slight headache. Every single part of him ached but for some odd reason his left foot felt numb, and slightly itchy

His eyes shifted to the side where he found a certain guy with black cropped hair that was now slightly messy wearing his trademark black clothing, he seemed to be asleep

"T-Toothless" Hiccup croaked. Toothless' eyes fluttered open and widened with concern as soon as he registered that Hiccup was awake

"Hiccup" Toothless breathed in relief "You're alive"

Toothless looked as if he hadn't slept properly for days. His eyes were reddish and he had some bandages on his forehead and cheek with light bruises

Grunts could be heard coming from Hiccup "What is it buddy? What do you want" Toothless asked in concern

"W-Water" Hiccup said weakly

"Of course" Toothless said handing him the glass of water which was resting on the small table next to him "Here you go bud"

As soon as the cool water hit Hiccup's tongue he was instantly relieved. Energy entered his system and he felt 100 times better

"Thank you" Hiccup told him with a grateful smile. Toothless returned the smile "No problem"

Hiccup shifted in a way so that he was slightly sitting "So" he began "How long was I out?"

"About 3 weeks" Was Toothless' answer

"3 weeks?!" Hiccup asked in disbelief, Toothless nodded in return "What did I miss?"

"Well, nothing much. I mean Snotlout is still alive-"

"How is he still alive?!" Hiccup interrupted him. Toothless shrugged "I have no idea"

"But don't worry, he and Alvin are in VERY bad shape and as soon as they're better they go straight to jail" Toothless reassured as soon as he saw the worry in Hiccup's eyes

"How about Astrid?" Hiccup asked worryingly "She's fine, Hiccup. Some light bruises but other than that she's okay"

"That's good to hear" Hiccup said leaning back on his pillows. Toothless took out his phone and started mashing some buttons

"Hey that reminds me, what ever happened between you and Stormfly?" Hiccup inquired. Toothless blushed ever so slightly "Uh, nothing really. I mean, we are going out but it's nothing serious"

Hiccup smiled cheekily "So is she who you're texting right now?" Toothless shook his head

"No, it's your father"

Hiccup's body tensed "What? Why in Thor's name would you text my father?!" He said a bit frantically

"Chill Hiccup, I'm texting him to let him know that you're alive" Toothless said as if it was nothing. Hiccup scoffed "Right, so he can ship me off to who knows where"

Toothless frowned at this "Your father has changed Hiccup" Hiccup shook his head lightly "I'll believe it when I see it"

"Well, you'll see it in about 5 minutes" Toothless informed him. Hiccup rolled his eyes

"Oh great! I am so excited" Hiccup said sarcastically

A comfortable silence filled the room, with Hiccup lying still on the bed and Toothless tapping his finger on the table

"So" Hiccup started "When can I get out of here?"

Toothless rested his chin of his hand "I don't know, depends"

As Hiccup thought about this, another thought entered his mind

"Hey Toothless?" Hiccup said. "Yeah buddy?"

"Why can't I feel my left foot?" Suddenly Toothless didn't meet Hiccup's eyes which made Hiccup feel worse

"Um, how do I break this to you?" Toothless said as he shifted uncomfortably in his chair "You can't feel it because-"

The door suddenly swung open and revealed a sweaty Stoick. His usually neat white polo was now rumpled with the buttons in the wrong holes, he had bags under his eyes which was wide as saucers.

"Hiccup" he breathed with a desperate smile. He quickly went towards his son and hugged him, but Hiccup didn't return it. Hiccup looked over to Toothless "Has it been 5 minutes already?"

Toothless shrugged in reply. Stoick pulled away and examined his son's face "Oh Hiccup, I was so worried"

Hiccup shook him off "Why? Because you would've wasted money" Hiccup said disgruntled. Stoick frowned "I was worried because you are my son"

"Son? As far as I know I was nobody's son" Hiccup said glaring at him. Stoick felt guilty and even more upset.

"Hiccup-"

"Um, I'll go and leave you guys alone" Toothless said rather awkwardly. He shuffled out of his chair and out the door, closing is slowly with a soft thud

Stoick turned his attention back to Hiccup, his face was painted with worry while Hiccup kept a stoic face. Stoick sighed

"Hiccup, I didn't mean any of the words I said back in your room" Stoick said explaining his actions

"Please do continue" Hiccup deadpanned. Stoick pursed his lips

"I'm sorry Hiccup, the only reason I did any of this is because I wanted to be a part of your life" Hiccup's face softened as he heard this

"When your mother died, my world came crashing down with her. You're a carbon copy of her Harry, and whenever I saw you I saw her. You have 0% of me in your genes and I just wanted to feel as if I did something. So I tried to force my interests in you but only now did I realized I shouldn't be doing that. I should've been treasuring you, because you're the only thing I have left of her"

Tears were now streaming down both of the Haddock's faces. "You're not a disappointment" Stoick said smiling sadly "You're something to brag about"

Hiccup chuckled "Because I'm famous?" Stoick laughed, engulfing his son in hug in which Hiccup returned "Because you're my son"

Sobs could be heard coming from the doorway. Hiccup opened his eyes and saw Toothless standing there, furiously rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand

"Toothless" Hiccup said laughing "Are you crying?"

Toothless shook his head "No, I just got something in my eye" They both laughed. A thought then jumped back into Hiccup's mind

"Hey dad" Hiccup said facing his father. Stoick turned to his son with mirth in his eyes "What is it son?"

"Why can't I feel my left foot?" Stoick tensed "Um, you can't feel it because-"

"Hiccup!" a feminine yell shouted followed by frantic running. Soon Astrid burst into the room, panting.

"Astrid, did you run all the way here or-" Hiccup was interrupted with a punch to the arm by said girl

"Ow! What was that for?" Hiccup asked. Astrid answered "That's for scaring me"

"W-What? Is it always going to be that way? Cause-" He was interrupted by a passionate kiss on the lips. His mind turned to mush but as far as he knew this was the first real kiss they shared. Astrid pulled away shortly, Hiccup is seen having a dazed look

"I could get used to it" Astrid smiled at this and hugged him. She leaned and whispered in his ear "Me too"

"So Hiccup, how are you taking it?" Astrid asked him as she pulled away. Hiccup shook out of his stupor "Uh, what do you mean?"

"You know, you losing your leg" Astrid said as a matter of fact. Stoick and Toothless cringed while Hiccup just stared at her "I-I what?"

Astrid frowned "You didn't know?" she turn and looked at Toothless who shook his head ever so slightly. Hiccup quickly pushed the covers away and saw what he's been dreading to see, his left foot was missing. He just sat there staring at it with disbelief

"Uh, Hiccup?" Stoick asked him gently. Hiccup murmured something under his breath "What was that son?"

Hiccup turned to him "I just can't believe my foot is missing" Toothless smiled sadly

"Cheer up Hiccup, your dad has connections and they'll get you a prosthetic and soon you'll be up and running in no time"

"I-I guess"
