A Wars Toll: Chapter 25

I stormed through the Rohan castle as I pushed open the library door with a deep frown sinking into my features. Walking into the room, I saw my Father sitting with a book. He looked up and saw my anger expression and sighed.

"I did not give you permission to leave Imladris, Serethiel." He spoke as he closed the book and placed it in his lap.

"I'm a grown women, I can do what I please. Besides, I'm not going back. I have a duty to fore fill in this war, I don't need my said-to-be-Father and siblings telling me what I should be doing with my life." I hissed with venom spitting from my tone.

"You will not speak to me that way, you are still a child, and a foolish one too!" He raised his voice. My eyes narrowed. I was about to spit something nasty back when the door to the library opened.

"Serethiel!" I was put into a bone crushing hug when my Sister came running with my Brothers in tow.

"Do you realize how embarrassing it is to have everyone just show up when I'm about to go into battle?!" I hissed, gently pushing Arwen away.

"We had to stop you!" Arwen said starting to cry which made me feel a bit guilty but not guilty enough.

"Why would you want to stop me?! I'm doing something for the greater good of Middle Earth!" I shouted as I saw my Brothers wince at the sharpness of my voice.

" 'Because I cannot see your future!' " I stare at my Father for a few moments until I spoke.

"What do you mean 'You can't see my future?'" I questioned as Elladan comforted Arwen.

"I attempted looking into your future and I could see nothing, just a black void, filled with nothingness." He continued,

"I then saw light emerging out from the dark like the sun rising then I saw the stars, but they weren't of our world. they were brighter, arranged differently. I could not dwell but now I am sure it is not wise for you to go into battle." I looked a long his old features and sensed I he was keeping something from me, something about his vision.

"Your not telling the whole story, are you?" I growled as I watched his face changed from emotionless to worried.

"You saw the defeat of Sauron, didn't you?" I hissed, catching the attention of my siblings.

"Ada!" Elladan and Elrohir both gasped at the same time as Arwen wiped her tears to stare at her Father in shock.

"Listen hear, and listen carefully, I will not allow Middle Earth to be ruled by Sauron in exchange for my life not to be sent to the after life. I am not a coward, I am not afraid to die!" I screamed at him as I quickly turned and ran out of the castle.

~The Next Morning~

As the sun came upon the horizon, I mounted Gund with all my weapons in their proper sheaths. Leading my army toward the battle field, I didn't think once about the words I spoke to my Father the night before. I knew it wasn't going to let Sauron, the man who kidnapped me, live a minute longer.

It would take a full two days to get to the mines of Moria and I really wasn't looking forward to the next person who would try and lecture me and tell me I'm being rash and stubborn.

Allowing Gund a little more rein, he gallops faster and makes my shoot ahead of Eomer. And his Sister Eowen who I knew wasn't going stay at camp when we go to battle. I only go about a yard ahead of them and kept it that way until the other horses needed a break.

Taking Gund away to a separate stream to drink from, I look off into the distance. I could barely see the trees of Mirkwood as I held Gund's bridle. I wondered why I didn't see Legolas in Edoras but I guess it was for the best since we didn't really leave thing on the best of notes.

Letting Gund roam freely, I start to repair an arrow that had a broken arrowhead with a huge chip in it. Taking off the arrowhead, I dug a hole beside the rock I sat on and buried it deep in the earth so no traveler or horse would step on it. Now I had an arrow with just feathers on it with a flat end on the shaft.

Suddenly hearing a horse coming from Mirkwood, I look up and see the person I least want to see coming toward me on a black and white horse. Grabbing my bow, I take my unrepaired arrow, notch it in the bow and fire. I watched as the arrow hits him right between the eyes. Nice!

Watching as he falls off his horse with a yelp, I let out a laugh as I dropped my bow. He surprisingly got up and made me laugh harder when I saw the grass and dirt in his hair. Legolas marched toward me and it was obvious that he was mad which made me laugh even harder.

by the time he was standing beside me, I was rolling around laughing my ass off. pushing myself to my knees with looking at him, I manage to keep the laughing to a mild chuckle.

I look up at him only to cover my mouth as I start to laugh like crazy again. A big red dot between his eyes flared up as he glared down at me. He was even taller when I was rolling around in the dirt holding my stomach.

I never knew he could glare like he did until I started have breathing problems since I couldn't stop laughing at his dot.
