So glad the week is over. Enjoy!

26) Innocent
How could anything be as innocent as he, this life that Roy had helped create?
The small bundle squirmed for a moment as it was taken from the warmth and safety that it instinctively knew as Mother, but settled as it felt a new warmth, a new heartbeat thumping beneath a solid chest.
Roy stared in wonder as the child opened his sleepy eyes to reveal a startling bright cinnamon colour, offset by the wispy black strands of hair that swooped across the pink, pudgy face. He stared up in wonder at Roy, a wide grin splitting his small rosebud lips and lighting up his fresh, unburdened face.
"I think he likes you." Riza said quietly beside him, watching tiredly from her hospital bed. Hesitantly, Roy stroked a slender, calloused finger down the infant's smooth cheek. The child reached up a small hand, smaller than Roy's palm, and grabbed the finger with a surprisingly strong grip. Roy chuckled.
"Yeah."
I've had most of this written forever and when I saw this prompt it was so perfect. I give you... Maes Edward Mustang! (there is a reason for his middle name).
ZakuroU: Stay strong, my friend. Stay strong. Yes, it's a wonder he still has a job, but he's pretty good at covering his ass so that counts for something :)
lotrprincess: That's what it's called! I remembered reading something like the last chapter forever ago, but I could not for the life of me recall the title or author. Yay for mythology! I'm kinda nuts for that stuff; you're totally right, it fits!
Dragonfire Alchemist: It's official, I am psychic. I think those subtle links between characters/events are the best part of any story; I'm glad you enjoy!
Chloe (Guest): Asdkjhfapibfw, thank you! Comments like that make my day! Thanks for reading!
Who came up with the names for things? Did someone just randomly point at a fruit one day and say 'that is apple'?
Same with colours. 'This is green. This is purple'. Seriously what even.
