Bonnie Bennett was the type of person who needed some space to go cool off whenever she was angry. Even as a child when she was upset she would go to her room and close the door without needing to be told by either of her parents. It was something that she always just did. She needed that quiet time to herself so that she could think about things.

But being in a relationship with someone like Damon Salvatore who fed off of confrontation and strife, Bonnie couldn't do that.

It was rare that he would allow her to walk away from him.

Bonnie stood behind Damon's chair, slowly running her hands down his chest. His pecks flexed in response to her touch. She smiled as she lowered her lips to his left ear.

"You like that, papi?"

Damon chuckled softly. That third glass of vintage Italian red wine was clearly a no no because Bonnie had gone from being tipsy to a little drunk like that.

Damon's intentions had been good when he ordered her the wine, thinking that a glass would help her sleep tonight, but even after the first glass she was still so wound up and tense.

So he ordered her another one, but after that she ordered herself a third glass and now her slender, tiny little hands were moving past his belt buckle and Damon had to gently grab them in his to stop their progression because they were still at the restaurant.

Granted, they were outside and it was midnight and they were basically the only two people left out there, but he and Bonnie would be leaving soon, so a hard on inside his pants wasn't ideal at the moment.

"What's wrong?" Bonnie pouted when he stopped her from touching him.

Damon brought her hands to his lips, kissing each of them. "Now's not the time for that. We're in a public place."

Bonnie huffed, rolling her eyes as she pulled away from him.

Damon reached out and grabbed the back of her dress when she made a move to go sit down in her seat across the table from his. "Hey, where do you think you're going..get back here?"

She tried to swat his hand away and stumbled a little bit on her feet trying to do so. "Stop before you tear it!" She admonished. It was a brand new dress and Bonnie loved it so much because it looked so very Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday with it's full skirt.

"Then come here." Damon chuckled, pulling her backwards until she fell into his lap.

"Gawd, you can be such a caveman sometimes." She said in exasperation.

She crossed her arms over her chest, facing forward not looking at him and for some reason this made Damon laugh.

He guessed it was because it was rare that she behaved childishly, so when she did, he found it to be quite hilarious.

He nibbled on her bare shoulder.

Bonnie jerked away. "We're in public, remember asshole?"

"So I go from being papi to being an asshole all in the space of a minute." He paused, thinking. "I wonder what you're going to call me later on tonight when I'm sweating out your hair?" He teased, wrapping a curly strand around his finger.

Caramel cheeks heated up in an unseen blush. Damn, how could she be irritated and turned on by him all at the same time?

"Wow, someone's sure of himself." She didn't like how he just assumed he'd be getting him some tonight. "Maybe I'll have a headache or something when we get back to the room."

Damon smacked his lips and carelessly said the absolutely wrong thing to her. "Please, when has that ever stopped you."

Bonnie's spine stiffed and the vampire realized his mistake one second later.

Shit.

He closed his eyes, swearing under his breath.

Bonnie moved to get up from his lap, but Damon tightened his arms around her.

"I'm sorry, that came out wrong." He rushed to apologize.

She swallowed hard, bracing her hand against the table. "I think you better let go of me before a create a scene in this restaurant." She warned.

Damon being who he was, number one, didn't appreciate her threatening him with causing a scene, but it was the tone that she used that really got to him and made him react like a bigger dick than usual.

"Then do it." He whispered against her ear. "Because I'll never let you go, not even now."

Bonnie ignored the shivers that tingled down her spine, hating in that moment how her body always reacted to him only proving Damon's careless words to be true.

She finally turned her head, tilting it slightly to the side as she regarded him intently. "You think I can't get away from you, don't you Damon?"

Both of them knew she wasn't talking about their current predicament.

And even knowing that it was the alcohol talking, Damon would go there with her because he wanted Bonnie to know exactly what she'd gotten herself into by being involved with him.

But he was smart enough to choose his words very carefully this time. "Wherever you would go, I'd follow." And he left it at that.

Bonnie didn't shy away from the look in his eyes.

She leaned in, putting her arms around his neck. "I'm not going anywhere...I don't know why I said that."

He caressed her cheek, leaning his forehead against hers.

When they got back to their hotel, Damon undressed Bonnie slowly and he was mindful of her dress, placing it carefully across the chair in the room, earning him a soft smile from his girl.

"See, I'm not a caveman all the time." He teased lightly.

He came back to were Bonnie stood and took her into his arms. "I know." She stated softly before he took her lips in a sweet kiss, picking her up gently and carrying her to the bed.

When he laid her down, Bonnie's heart beat picked up as she watched him get undress.

He was so beautiful.

And she told him so. A soft smile appeared on Damon's lips as he covered her with his body.

Breathing deeply, her nails sunk into his lower back as he began to enter her.

Damon didn't move immediately as he seated himself fully inside her, giving her body the time to adjust. He kissed the mounds of her breasts before moving to her lips and kissing her deeply.

Bonnie moaned into his mouth, her hands moving up to caress his face.

"I love you so much." He panted slightly, because it felt so good inside of her body.

"I love you too." She gasped lightly, arching her back when he began to move.

Bonnie closed her eyes as he rocked her slowly. But this wasn't what she wanted.

She wanted to fuck.

"I thought you said you were going to sweat out my hair." She blurted out and it sort of came out like a whine, causing Damon to laugh.

He lowered his head, capturing her lips before letting her go. "Either way is fine by me, sweet girl."

Damon spent the next couple of hours doing just that. He didn't get the urgent voice messages and texts that Stefan left on his phone until the following day.

"No, I'm not going to calm down Damon...Katherine said that she'll kill Jamie! We have to leave now!"

Bonnie was hysterical and rightfully so, but Damon needed for her to calm down before she gave herself a heart attack.

Damon took hold of her, forcing her to stop packing and look at him.

"What are you doing?! We don't have time for this! We have to get a flight!" She then stopped breathing as something occurred to her. "What if there's not a flight out for days! We're not going to make it back in time! OH MY GOD, SHE'S GOING TO KILL MY BROTHER!" She sobbed, bursting into tears.

He pulled Bonnie into his arms. "I'm not going to let that happen, you hear me! I'm not going to let it happen!"

Bonnie didn't hear him. She zoned out.

If Jamie died then that would be it. She would have no more family left. She'd be completely alone.

Damon and Bonnie arrived in Mystic Falls with seven hours to spare. Bonnie was completely numb throughout the entire flight back, but when they landed Damon had to physically restrain her so she wouldn't go straight to the boardinghouse. There was no way in hell that he was letting her get anywhere near Katherine. This was a trap if ever there was one. So they couldn't be stupid about this, but Bonnie wasn't thinking rationally because they'd called the camp to check on Jamie only to find out that he'd gone missing a couple of hours ago.

Bonnie lost her mind.

It took Damon forever to talk her out of going with him to the boardinghouse, finally resulting to reverse psychology by telling her that if something were to happen to her Jamie would be all alone; that she needed to keep herself safe for his sake.

It worked, only because Damon promised to bring Jamie back to her and he'd never broken a promise to her. Never.

So Bonnie stayed behind even though every instinct in her small body was telling her to go.

Stefan tensed up the moment he heard the front door to the boardinghouse slam shut and his brother yell, "YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED, KATHERINE...I'M HERE YOU CRAZY BITCH !"

Stefan looked over at the vampire in question soaking in a bubble bath of scolding hot water. Her pretty brown eyes lighting up. "Damon's back!"

No sooner had she said it and the bathroom door was being pushed open almost falling off its hinges.

"Where is he...where's Jamie!?"

Shit. Stefan stepped in front of his brother when he began to approach Katherine menacingly, not to protect her but to protect Damon from himself before he did something stupid.

Katherine sat up in the tub, not caring that her breasts were exposed. "Jamie? Is that all you care about? I haven't seen you in weeks!"

"Fuck you whore!" He shouted.

"Damon!" Stefan hissed, trying to push him back because he kept trying to get to Katherine.

The three hundred year old vampire stood up, the water cascading down her wet body. "See therein lies the problem because that's what you were supposed to be doing until you decided to run off with that little insipid human of yours!"

Damon exploded, pushing Stefan off of him. "I am not yours Katherine! I don't belong to you!"

She stepped out of the tub like it wasn't a hostile situation going on inside of the room and reached for a towel.

"That's a lie." She responded without any heat in her voice, lightly patting herself dry with the towel. "Aren't I the one who taught you everything there's to know about being a vampire?" She said raising an arched brow.

"I taught you how to survive. You and Stefan didn't know shit. I taught you how to hunt properly, how to feed, how to kill without leaving evidence behind."

"I even taught you how to fuck Damon. Before meeting me you were so vanilla in bed." She cringed in disgust before dropping the damp towel to the floor. "So you're dead wrong my pet, you are mine. The both of you are." She said looking at Stefan. "I may have not made you into vampires, but I damn sure created the vampires the two of you are today. " She pulled the brown clip from her hair, letting it fall down her back in a cascade of soft curls. She finally slipped on a robe covering her nudity.

"Jamie! Jamie!" The vampires heard from downstairs, Damon and Stefan froze.

"Let me take a wild guess." Katherine said, tapping her lips with her index finger as she pretended to ponder. "Bonnie?"

A second later Damon and Stefan were alone in the bathroom.

The Salvatore brothers vamp sped after her, but it was too late. By the time they reached the bottom of the stairs Katherine had Bonnie pulled against her, holding the teenager by her hair.

But the girl didn't care about herself and the extreme danger she was in. "Damon, where's Jamie?"

Katherine laughed. "See I knew that threatening to kill the boy was a brilliant idea."

"Where's my brother, you crazy bitch?!"

Katherine looked at Damon, totally ignoring Bonnie's outburst. "She's feisty... and very beautiful in person. The pictures I saw of her didn't do her nearly enough justice."

Katherine could see that she surprised him, just as Stefan was surprised when he found out a couple of days ago.

"Oh yes darling, I've been keeping tabs on you and Stefan for years. So when I was told that you were in love and that she was human I didn't believe it. No not my Damon I thought, no, she's just a little play thing, a toy that he picked up to amuse himself. But then I saw this one picture of you and her..." Katherine trailed off as she remembered the photo. Her voice became hard, biting. "...it was the way you looked at her...I've never seen you look that way before..." Her once clear brown eyes turned glassy.

Damon swallowed hard. He hadn't tasted this kind of fear in a long time, not since he was human but the moment he saw the flicker of insanity enter into Katherine eyes, he knew that he was running out of time.

He had to get Bonnie away from that crazy bitch.

"Katherine's going to kill her, Damon." Stefan said telepathically to his brother, having recognize the same look in Katherine's eyes.

"Not if I kill her first."

"Has it slipped your mind that she's stronger than the two of us put together?" Stefan needlessly reminded him.

"No it hasn't, but she's not invincible. She can be killed. It's just going to be a little more difficult to do."

Stefan didn't respond back because he was thinking of a plan.

"I'm not going to let her kill Bonnie, Stefan... I'll die first."

Stefan looked at his brother.

"And if I do die, I want you to promise me you'll take care of her. She's going to need you Stef, especially if Jamie's dead."

There was silence between the two brothers as they stared at each other and then Stefan nodded his head solemnly.

"Then let's do this." Damon said, determination flickering in his blue eyes.

"NO!" Bonnie screamed, tears marring her beautiful face.

Damon saw her run towards him and he used the last of his energy to yell for Stefan to stop her and watched in relief as his brother grabbed Bonnie, pulling her back.

"Even now when you're about to die, you only think of her." Katherine sneered in disgust.

The Salvatore brothers were able to get Bonnie away from Katherine and came really close to killing the three hundred year old vampire, but in the end they were no match for her. Katherine was just too strong. And now her hand was buried inside of Damon's chest, squeezing his heart about to yank it out. He deserved a lot more than this for trying to kill her over that blubbering little mess of a human.

"It's called love Katherine." He panted heavily. "S-Something you know nothing about."

This made her pause and she almost looked sad as she reached out to touch his face. He tried to turn his head away, but she grabbed his face and forced him to look at her.

"Love has made you incredibly weak, Damon. You stink of humanity. And I'm going to fix that right now."

Katherine pulled her hand from his chest and Damon instantly began taking in deep gulping breaths that he really didn't need.

From where she was standing Bonnie could no longer see what the female vampire was doing because her back was turned to the girl, but she could still see Damon's face and he was staring transfixed up at Katherine.

Bonnie knew that look.

It looked like he was being compelled.

But that was impossible. Vampires couldn't compel other vampires, right?

But Katherine was old, who knew what type of powers she had.

"What are you doing to him?! Stop!" Bonnie screamed, trying desperately to pull away from Stefan, who stiffed when he heard Katherine compel his brother to turn his humanity off.

He looked down at Bonnie who was still struggling to get to Damon, not realizing what was happening right in front of her eyes.

He had to get her out of there now because the Damon Salvatore that she knew was gone.
