A/N: Thanks to everyone who continues to read and enjoy this story. Here's the next chapter, I hope you like it. It's a sad one, so I apologize. I'll try to get the next one to you quickly. Thanks to my beta reader Ce'Bronne. And thanks to you guys. Be sure to let me know what you think.
It had been hours since they had last called Jim. At least, she thought it had been hours. Time had lost all meaning for her. "Focus bitch!" Zoe slashed the knife on Molly's arm to get her attention. It was one of many cuts at this point. Molly's head felt light, and she wondered if she would die before they got around to calling Jim again.
Her clothing was wet and sticky with blood, clinging to her like glue as it dried. If she had to guess she was sure she had some broken ribs from where Brian had repeatedly hit her. It hurt to breathe, each breath bringing her one step closer to blacking out from the pain. She'd always assumed that there was a certain point during torture where it ceased to be painful. A kind of zoned out nirvana for lack of a better description. If that was the case, she hadn't reached that level of pain yet. She wasn't sure it would be worth it, she already felt like she was dead. She'd never known pain like this could exist. She wasn't sure how much more of this she could endure.
"I think it's time to call your boyfriend again. You look ready to keel over any minute now. What a disappointment." Zoe rolled her eyes. "We haven't even broken out the heavy artillery yet." Molly watched in horror as Zoe left and returned with a taser. Brian pulled out the tablet and connected to Jim's Skype.
He focused it on Molly as Zoe pressed the taser into Molly's broken ribs. Her screams didn't even sound like her voice. They reminded her of an animal. Her eyes rolled back into her head as the pain became too much to bear and a hard slap from Zoe brought her back to reality. "Because we're so nice. We're going to let you say goodbye to him. Thank Brian. If it were me I'd cut your throat right here and make him watch as you choke on your own blood."
Brian stepped forward so he was closer to Molly and motioned for her to talk. She could hear Jim telling her to be strong, that he would come for her. She could tell he was crying, because his voice had never shook the way it was now. "Jim…" She tried, her voice coming out small and strained. "I want you to let go of me. Let go. I don't want you to watch me die. Whatever they do to me is fine, but please… just let me go." Tears streaked down her face, hot against her skin.
"You stop that bullshit right now Molly Hooper!" She could hear him screaming at her and she attempted to shush him. "Jim. Just… if this is the last time I talk to you I want you to know I loved you more than anything in this world." She noticed Brian motioning for her to wrap it up. "I just wish we could have gone on Holiday together just once." She spoke quickly and Brian turned the camera down, focusing on her injuries.
"I want you to remember this sight." Brian spoke, laughing as Zoe stuck her knife into Molly's leg, pulling it out slowly while Molly cried. "Remember how it feels to lose someone you love. Because this is one of the last times you're ever going to see her. I didn't get a proper funeral for my mom, because you blew her up. And you're not going to get a proper funeral for her either. We'll talk to you again soon." With that he clicked off the screen and set the tablet down on a table in the room.
"Give her a break Zoe. We'll come back in a bit. We need to relax and get some food."
"Are you kidding me, let's finish this bitch off."
"Enough!" Brian yelled and Zoe straightened up immediately. "She didn't do anything to you personally. Stop blaming her for Tom's death. He knew what the risks were, and so did you."
"Fuck you." Zoe shot back at him. "You know what? You're right, I do need a break. I'll be back." Brian tried to stop her, but Zoe stormed out regardless.
Molly felt like she was going to puke as Brian walked back up to her once Zoe had disappeared. Flinching away from him as he leaned towards her he gently turned her face up towards him, tracing a thumb over her nose, which was definitely broken.
"I'm sorry Molly." He spoke softly, a few tears streaming down his face. "I'm sorry. I hope you understand why this is necessary. Forgive me."
"You can still let me go." Molly gasped out. "I won't tell anyone. If you let me go, Jim won't come after you. I promise." Her eyelids felt so heavy. She'd never wanted sleep more in her entire life.
"I can't. I honestly wish it didn't have to be you. Just know that." With that Brian left her there in the darkness and Molly closed her eyes, knowing if she fell asleep there was a chance she might not wake up again. She hoped she didn't wake up again. She hoped Zoe didn't get the satisfaction of slitting her throat like she wanted to. And mostly she hoped if she died while she slept, that Jim wouldn't have to see her like this again.
