Week Twenty -Four – April 17th
"Edward…" Winry groaned in a sleep induced haze. She reached over in bed and patted Ed's naked chest, though he didn't move. "Edward!" she exclaimed.
The blonde male was suddenly awake and sitting up. Well, not awake, but certainly not asleep.
"What?" Ed asked in the same sleep haze that Winry possessed.
"I think I'm in labor," Winry said.
"W-What?"
"I just said I think I'm in labor!" Winry shouted this time. Edward jumped out of bed in only his boxer shorts and ran to Pinako's bedroom. Obviously he was ready to face the consequences of waking the woman at an unholy hour. They were all heavy sleepers.
Ed returned with the elderly woman, who immediately instructed Winry to lay back into bed.
"Winry, I'm going to need to check you for any dilation in order to determine whether or not you're in labor," Pinako explained.
"I told you, I am in labor!" Winry shouted. "This isn't something I'm faking or mistaking!"
Pinako listened to her granddaughter, though continued to check her for dilation as she said she would. The elderly woman sighed in relief.
"Are my babies being born tonight?" Ed asked.
"No," Pinako said. "Winry, you're experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions."
"What is that?" Winry asked, redressing herself.
"Your body is preparing for the real thing; like it's going through practice mode. So you feel like you're in labor, though it's not as intense as labor," Pinako explained.
"It's going to be worse?" Winry groaned.
"And you're having twins," Pinako said, letting out a low chortle.
"Did mom go through this?" Winry asked.
"Yeah," Pinako answered. "We thought Trisha was going through it as well when she went into labor with Edward. Turns out he just wanted out of there quick. Let's hope that doesn't happen with these boys."
"Is that a risk?" Ed asked.
Pinako nodded. "Seeing as you're their father, it's already a risk, but twins also have high risk for these things as well."
"Great." Winry groaned once more. "You gave my babies horrible genetics, Ed."
Ed pouted.
