Chapter 25

Too Surprised to Worry

(Sky's POV)

Seto hasn't been sleeping, Enderlox is acting all weird, Husky is confused, and I'm, well, worried.

I'm in my room, on my bed, face smushed against my pillow. I probably sighed about 50 times already and it keeps on coming. I know I should relax, hoping that everything will go alright, but I can't. Enderlox finally woke up only to pass out half an hour later. Then Seto's health is going downhill and he won't tell us what he might know about Enderlox, which is frustrating me. It's pretty obvious that he hasn't been getting enough sleep, with him being clumsy and bags starting to form under his eyes and all. I'm tempted to look in his room to see what he might be working on, but last time I did that I got a little too curious and destroyed his experiment. I would ask as well, but he'll just say to wait and find out. And then I have the fish to worry about. The poor thing has no idea what was just going on in Enderlox's room and now he keeps asking question about what just happened. I refused to tell him anything, claiming I was too tired and I went straight to my room from there. I'm hoping Seto will explain to him, but I'm also hoping that he won't. I rather not have Husky any more afraid of Enderlox than he already is.

I sighed, again, not knowing what to do now. I laid there for a few more minutes, until someone was knocking on our door.

'Great! They had to come now!' I thought sarcastically to myself.

I forced myself out of my bed heading out my room. I know Seto told me not to talk to them, but I had nothing better to do. As I climbed the stairs to the main floor, I already heard Husky talking to whoever was at the door. I know that he was desperately trying to get them to leave and it seemed he might be winning, but I feel like I should be especially cruel to the fish today.

"Hey Husky! Who's at the door!" I called out from the top of the staircase.

I can hear someone saying who was that, and Husky frantically trying to cover me up.

"N-No one, sir! It's, uh, just a friend!" I heard Husky say nervously.

"What do you mean 'no one'!" I saying coming up from behind. I got him in a headlock and started giving him a noogie. "You're going have to respect me more, fish!" I said with a chuckle.

"Stop it! I told you already! I'm not a fish!" he yelled back at me.

Some cleared their throat, and we both looked back up. There were at least three of them. Policemen from the city. They wore that common blue uniform with badges on the chest to show their authority to everyone. The only thing missing from their outfit would be the hat, which none of them have on. And obvious insignia was on their right sleeve with the cities initials on it. They've been bugging us for the last couple of weeks. Seto told me they came before when I was out searching for Enderlox and that they were looking for me.

"Uh…Hello, sir! Are you guys from the city?" I asked casually, still holding Husky in a headlock.

The one up front, which I believe is the one Husky was talking to and I'm guessing was in charge of the group, cleared his throat again before speaking.

"Yes, we are from the city. We were asking if the resident SkythekidRS has returned yet," he said with clear authority in his throat.

I released the fish, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible.

"That's me," I said, not hinting any nervousness I might have actually been feeling.

"Sky!" Husky said in a sharp whisper, nudging me at the same time, "You know what Seto said!"

"I got this, don't worry!" I whispered back.

I glanced back at the officer and I could see that he was giving Husky a glare. He must of told them that I still wasn't back.

"I was resting in my room, sorry for not answering the door myself," I said, hoping to save Husky from. The officer's expression faded away but his gaze went to meet me.

"We would like to question you about your last visit to our fair city. Unfortunately, we had a terrible accident, a murder to be precise, and we were told that you might know something about the perpetrator."

"What do you mean?" I asked, trying to sound as clueless as possible. I knew that they kept coming here because they wanted to know about Enderlox. It also seems that the person he attacked didn't make it. Although it served him right, picking on everyone. I even had to save Husky from him once before. Poor Husky was hurt all over and sore for the rest of that week.

"We were told that you were seen near the attacker several times that day. Some even said that you entered the city with him."

The conversation started to heat up.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think you have the right person. I wasn't even aware of no murder and I haven't been to the city in forever."

"I believe that we do have the right person. We even have record of you buying some clothes and many witnesses seeing you alongside the perpetrator."

I gulped. I guess I wasn't the best liar.

"Oh right! I did go recently to buy some new clothes. But I wasn't with any murder! What did he look like anyway. The only people I was with were my friends."

"He was described as some sort of mutant," he started off, giving Husky a glance, "A teenage boy with a pair of black dragon wings, a lizard's tail to match, alongside with claws and fangs. A monster if you ask me."

That got my blood boiling. It was one of the reasons that I hated the city. The people who live there always think that everyone who looked even remotely strange were monsters.

"I'm sorry but I wasn't with anyone like that. If you excuse me, but I have just returned from a long trip and I was hoping that I could relax," I said starting to close the door, but I was stopped.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you, but we believe that you know something about this monster who killed an innocent civilian and we need your help in catching him. If you are trying to protect him, don't. Nothing good comes out of protecting a murderer," he finished with frown.

"I'm not!" I exclaimed at him. I realized that I shouldn't have yelled.

It was silent for about a minute before I heard something, someone actually, walking downstairs.

'How can he move!? Didn't he just pass out because of the pain!? Shit. The cops are still here and if they see him…'

My thoughts trailed off as the creaking of the stairs grew louder.

"Sky…"

My eyes widen as I heard his voice. It sounded so weak and raspy. I would have gone to see what might be going on with him if it weren't for the problem that was standing two feet away from me.

"Who's that?" the officer asked.

With no excuse other than Husky's, I said, "Uh…No one, sir. Just a friend who's healing up."

It wasn't a lie or anything but he seemed to have noticed that I was hiding something. I leaned over to Husky who was still quietly standing behind me.

"Go upstairs and stop him from coming down," I quickly whispered in Husky's ear. He quickly nodded, excused himself, and left.

They all had a face that made me scared of handling them alone. How Seto and Husky held them off is beyond me. I then heard running coming from the basement stairs to the main floor. I turned around to see Seto dashing upstairs. One hand was grabbing his hood, trying to keep it up, while the other had something held in it which I couldn't see clearly. He was gone before I could get a chance to ask what he might be doing.

"Seems like a lot of commotion is happening back there," the officer said, bringing my attention back to him.

"Uh…Yea," I said, unsure of what to do now, "I should really see what might be going on so if you don't mind…" I trailed off closing the door again. I was stopped of course.

"Why don't I help you?" he said starting to step in. The others stayed out, which I was kinda grateful for, but one of them was enough for me to panic. Now how I wished I didn't butt in.

"Th-there's no need. I don't want to trouble you," I said quickly, trying to be polite as well.

"No trouble," he said and was already inside.

"Uh, Please. You can't just come in!" I panicked and was walking in front of him trying to make him turn around. My hands were waving in front of me, hoping he got the signal that we didn't need his 'help'. I knew what was going on. He wanted to see Enderlox and if he was the person they wanted. If he kept on going he was going to see him and this would all be over.

"S-Sir. Please, I insist. There's no need," I tried convincing him, but to no avail. He ignored me and kept on walking.

We were only a few feet away from the staircase that lead to Enderlox's room and now I had no idea how to stop him.

"Stop. You can't just barge in here!" I raised my voice slightly, trying to take the offensive with him.

He stopped right at the edge of the staircase and turned around to face me.

"It seems quite obvious that you're hiding something. I would like to know what it is. Does it have to do something that's up there?" he said pointing his finger up, staring at me eye to eye.

I gulped. "N-No! Nothing at all!"

He didn't seem to believe me and how I wished I could have just knocked the lights out of him but not only would that lead me to six months of prison, but then they would search the whole house and find Enderlox. But if I didn't do something, he would be found out right now.

Then someone started coming down the stairs. Right now, there were three people up there so we had three possibilities. Husky, Seto, or Enderlox. I always knew Husky would be a lucky one. He came strolling down the stairs, surprised to see the officer inside.

"You got this, huh, Sky?" He said with a grin. If I wasn't thanking that it was him and he could help on the inside, I would had replied with a snarky comment. I should have too, because he just left me right there! Now I was cursing him to myself.

The officer glance at him for a second before proceeding. Why Husky didn't come and help me was beyond me and now I returned to panicking. The cop started to climb the stairs and I hadn't noticed in time, so I was stuck behind him. I didn't know what to say to stop him. Donuts were on sale today? Anything really would have been useful.

As we neared the top I tried to convince him.

"Come on, sir. There's no need to worry! Why don't we just have a snack at the kitchen. My friend is really tired and he got severely hurt. I don't want him disturbed," but it was no use. We were already at the top.

If I think of Husky a lucky one, than I think of Seto as a god. Sometimes I really do think he is, or at least a genius.

"I'm sorry to disturb. I just wanted to make sure everything was alright," The officer said giving a small nod to show his apology. I would rather have a 'don't get arrested if I do this' pass, for the heart attack I almost had.

"Nothing's wrong. Sorry if we caused you any trouble. Here, I'll show you the way out," Seto said, getting up from the bed he was sitting on. He led the officer out and left me with Enderlox alone. There was the kid, sitting at the edge of the bed, swinging his feet back and forth. His head was turned, looking outside the window. His bandages already started to show blood stains again. The patch that was on his face was removed and an ugly burn mark was across his cheek. It was obvious that it would scar.

"Enderlox?"

He turned to look at me and gave me a small smile. He outstretched his arms to show me his wrists. Purple bracelets were dangling.

"Your friend gave them to me. SetoSorcerer, I think is his name. He's nice," he said quietly and simply. He looked into my eyes. Surprise was an obvious expression on my face. I guess that this would have explained why Husky didn't come to my rescue.

A teenager was sitting on a bed not a few feet away from me. A boy who was injured beyond healing, yet was still alive and doing well. His mental stability seemed perfect. So was his appearance, besides the burns. A boy with dark brown, not purple, eyes stared at me. A smiling face with perfect teeth showing, not a single one sharpen. His arms showing off his new gift, not a single finger with a nail overgrown or pointed.

"You look…uh…" I trailed off, speechless.

"I look normal!" he said cheerfully.

My mind was completely blank. Not a nerve restless or a confusing thought entering my mind.

I stared at a boy without wings or a tail. A regular teenager.

So what about that! I need to fit that in sometime and I really was blank this chapter, so I decided to just use this. Sorry for the lack of detail. I hoped you guys liked it.
