"Are you sure that this is a wise decision?"
"I'm positive. Lady M. has given us the assurance, and from how things will be, she's going to stay with us."
After coming back from his mission of escorting the Menagerie Chieftain over to Beacon alongside Yang, Arad wasted no time in figuring out what had happened while he was away. From what he could gather, the Crimson Windermerean Draken flew towards the Macross with the intention of finishing the fight, and after a skirmish with Ruby; the pilot surrendered to Chaos and is being held in the infirmary. As of now, the SV-262 she piloted is now in the hanger bay where the engineers are figuring out how to repair the fighter and obtain what information it held.
As for the pilot, the Delta Platoon commander was surprised to see a female Windermerean resting in the infirmary as Ruby's friends of JN(P)R filled her in on their adventures. When he met her though, he learned that although she's quite an enigma, with two different sets of memories, she only wished to be referred to as Gale. Frowning, he brought it up with Ernest as he sat in front of him in the Elysion's Bridge, enjoying their sake as they conversed.
"I'm only thinking about this from a logical standpoint," Arad spoke out. "What if she's being this way to let us drop our guard? Fake her way into our arms and transmit her location to Windermere?"
"If that were the case, then explain why they would infect her with the Var," the Zentradi countered, taking a sip before continuing. "My best guess is that they need their personnel to remain focused on their goals, including taking control of the Globular Cluster."
"And to do that, they're willing to turn their own pilots, the Aerial Knights, into Var Infected if they have to?"
"The war is already impacting our way of life, Arad." Sighing, Ernest looked to the horizon where Vale was visible. "And due to our actions, Remnant, Ruby and her team's homeworld, was dragged into this mess. Atlas lost the majority of their forces to the Aerial Knights, and we only held them back from pushing further in."
"Well, from the way they fought, they were probing this world of its strength." Frowning, Arad took another sip out of his drink before pouring himself another. "It's like they didn't even come here to gain control of the planet as they have the Globular Cluster in their clutches."
"That is bothersome. But even so, Remnant has its own problems that only we could solve."
"Such as?"
"The appearance of the Nirvana underneath Mountain Glenn, how we received faint N.U.N.S. signals all over the planet in five distinct locations and how we're going to break the news to the populace."
"Right, as far as Remnant's concerned, all they had was tales on how humanity was born on this planet, unaware that they're descendants of a misplaced N.U.N.S. escort fleet that suffered during the Vajra war."
"Not to mention the concerning report of their chief scientist, Erica Saunders," the Zentradi brought up, crossing his arms. "Thinking about this came with some theories from Reina when she read through the reports. She believes that Saunders may very well still be alive and under a different identity, and is currently the one behind the Grimm attacks that Remnant suffered from."
"But don't forget that a human can't live for hundreds of years," Arad argued. "If I had learned anything from media long ago, it's that humans aren't ready to handle the stress off immortality. It would only drive them insane, and their hearts begin to yearn for a death that won't come."
"Regardless, if Saunders is in fact alive, she may be living under a different identity and controlling events here from the shadows." Placing his sake dish down, the Elysion captain crossed his arms as he spoke out. "The Attack of Beacon may very well have been her planning from the start. Though, with the Song of the Wind, her plans may have been set back considerably. For the time being, with the Grimm no longer present, the people could hopefully relax, rebuild and hopefully regain what was lost."
"Only for Windermere to replace those monsters with flight patterns and tactics they have never seen before."
"Perhaps, due to our appearance, Remnant is coming towards another change? One where it will have to abandon all that it has known. The legends, myths and every fairy tale will fade to obscurity, and only those that stay in the shadows will keep them alive for who knows how long."
Nodding, the Delta commander sighed as he gazed out to the outside before speaking out. "Going back to our Windermerean guest, do we have any information?"
"So far, she's conflicted on whether she wants to regain her human identity, live as the Windermerean she was before all this that happened or live a new life," Ernest answered, closing his eyes. "For the time being, she only wished to be referred to as 'Gale,' a name she's grown accustomed to when she woke up."
"Probably the identity she was used to when she joined the Aerial Knights."
"But what she does know is that Windermere has one more plan for this world, before regaining their focus on the N.U.N.S. forces that would come and reclaim the sector. What it is though, she wasn't informed of."
"Damn."
"Regardless, we have to remain on our guards," the Zentradi informed him. "Once we're fully settled and the academy's rebuilt, we'll make our move against Windermere."
Understanding him, Arad took his last sip of sake before gazing upwards to the night sky, locking his eyes on the shattered moon hanging in orbit. He could only imagine the sort of backlash that would happen when Remnant learns of the state of the surrounding galaxy, as well as the truth of all that has happened in their past. Sighing heavily, he glanced out to the horizon to watch the Vale cityscape light up in the night, keeping the thoughts in his mind before focusing on what to do to push back Windermere.
The Grimmlands.
A desolate continent named for the number of Grimm present, un-ventured by the bravest of Huntsmen or a contingent of Atlesian forces. A land where the majority of the monsters have migrated to the day they heard the 'cursed song,' a melody that weakens them and kills off the weak while the strong relocated. Watching the spawning pools on the ground, the beasts gazed upon them as newborn Grimm came out of the waters, getting accustomed to their new surroundings.
Further from the monsters lies a darkened castle where both Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black watched in shock and fear as the monsters regained their numbers. As they bore witness to their creation, they were immediately called over by a snap of fingers, causing them to take their stand beside their boss Cinder Fall, who looked more like a broken woman than before the fall of Beacon. Alongside her were three others, from the disgraced Atlesian scientist Arthur Watts, resident psychopath Tyrian Callows and the stoic Hazel Reinart.
"Yes, yes," Watts started off smugly, looking at the broken woman in front of him. "Keep your… posse… in check." The remark caused Mercury to lean forward, only to be stopped by Emerald as he continued to berate. "You hear that? Silence. I've half the mind to thank the little girl that bested you."
"If I were you, I'd hunt her down," Tyrian took over, chuckling maniacally as he looked at the trio. "Find her, and… well, she took your eye, didn't she?"
Growling, the Fall Maiden glared as the psycho's chuckles grew to insane laughter before dying down, breathing out to calm herself as he settled. As he finished, she slowly started to move her mouth to speak, only for her words to be stuck in her throat as her voice came out raspy. Groaning, she motioned Emerald to come closer, whispering in her ear and making Watts shake his head over the issue.
"How pathetic," he commented, shaking his head. "First, your injuries, then our Mistress' sudden ailment. Why did you even—"
His statements were suddenly cut out when the entranceway of the meeting room unlocked, making him, Cinder and the others to stand in attention. Gazing at the doorway, they were greeted with the sight of their boss Salem, who strode by them with an air or elegance and fear. Watts, however, could already notice that her arm was more covered up by her attire, meaning the effects of the song that affected the Grimm were still present.
"Ma'am, are you feeling well," he asked her as she moved to her place, seeing her nod. "Then are you sure you're well enough to address—"
"Watts," he paused as she spoke out. "My health condition is unneeded right now."
"My apologies."
"Also." Looking at her, his eyes locked with hers as she turned to face him. "Do you find such malignance necessary?"
"Forgive me madam." He closed his eyes briefly as she motioned everyone to sit down. "I'm just not particularly fond of failure."
"Then I see no reason for your cruelty towards young Cinder," she informed him as he sat down, taking her place at the table before sitting down herself. "She's become our Fall Maiden, destroyed Beacon Tower and most importantly… killed dear Ozpin. So I'm curious as to what failure you're referring to."
"Well… the girl with the silver eyes."
"Yes," Hazel spoke out this time, letting his gruff voice echo as he spoke. "We've dealt with her kind before. How is it that a novice was able to best one of us?"
"My thoughts exactly," Watts rejoined. "Even without her newfound powers, it would have been effortless to kill her—"
"It is because of the Maiden's power," the Grimm woman interrupted before looking at Cinder. "Make no mistake, Cinder. You hold the key to our victory, but your newfound strength also brings with it a crippling weakness… which is why you will remain by my side as we continue your training." The broken maiden could only look down as her hand clenched in a fist while Salem refocused on Watts. "Now, what is the state of the world since that 'dreadful' day?"
"Aside from the majority of the surviving Grimm relocating here, it appears that Mistral had suffered an attack from the Huntsman and Huntresses guarding the Kingdom," he informed her, bringing up salvaged footage from then before letting it play. "Haven remained unscathed of course, but the city itself was devastated from its guardians and the unusual machines."
"Unusual?"
"Yes, they don't resemble anything Atlas made, and the way they operate as if they were made for war." He then paused the footage when it showed the VF-171, unaware of her shocked expression as he continued. "From the way they were built, I can only assume that they were made for not only ground conflict, but aerial combat as well."
'So the past has been revealed then,' she thought to herself as she listened to him.
"Regardless, Mistral is more on alert for the time being while the repairs occurred, and Atlas salvaged the mech wreckage before returning to their own kingdom." He then turned off the visual before continuing. "Speaking of Atlas, my virus was able to traverse into the Kingdom's network, and from what I gathered, the military suffered many losses weeks ago when a group of fighters 'came down from the sky' before destroying the base alongside their forces. Afterwards, All I know is that they're rebuilding their forces for the moment."
"I see," she muttered before locking her hands together. "Watts, I want you to regain focus on our objective now. I need you to take Cinder's place and meet with our informant in Mistral."
"Of course," he acknowledge as she gazed towards the resident psychopath.
"Tyrian, I want you to continue your hunt for the Spring Maiden."
"Gladly, Your Grace," the maniac answered her while Salem looked towards Hazel.
"And Hazel… I'm sending you to the leader of the White Fang. Unfortunately, Adam's unavailable to set up the meeting, so you need to convince Sienna Khan yourself."
"As you wish," he followed up, getting her to nod as she stood up.
"With all of your efforts, Beacon has fallen… and Haven will be-"
Before she could finish her announcement, her palace started to feel tremors as the Grimm on the landscape looked up to the sky, prompting her and everyone else to look out the window. Getting closer to the glass, they could spot six fireballs coming down from the atmosphere, heading towards their location as the monsters growled in anticipation. However, as the fireballs got closer, the flames dispersed, revealing the form of six SV-262 Draken IIIs in formation.
All within Salem's circle watched in shock as the fighters came closer before shifting into Gerwalk mode, stunning everyone as arms and feet popped out as the planes glided over towards them. Without warning, the Drakens brought out their weapons before opening fire down to the ground, taking out most of the newborn creatures of darkness and scattering the elder Grimm. The leading Draken then launched a volley of missiles towards the palace, prompting everyone inside to take cover before the rockets detonated, destroying the wall and exposing them to the outside.
As the wind scatters the smoke caused by the explosions, the six SV-262s shifted back into Fighter Mode before sailing over the palace, flying in the skies as they released a coordinated smoke trail. Coming out of hiding, Salem and the others looked up to see the smoke emitting the crest of Windermere as the Drakens started to come back towards them, with the leading fighter shifting into Gerwalk Mode while the other five transformed into Battroids. Everyone within her circle glared at the hovering machines while Salem stood in shock, as she remembers the term describing the fighters as the leading Draken opened its cockpit, revealing the pilot to be Lloyd Brehm as he stood up before bowing to her.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, lady Salem," he announced to them. "I am the chancellor of the sovereign nation of Windermere, Lloyd Brehm. Truly, it is a pleasure to meet you."
"So you heard of her," Tyrian muttered out before his face twisted into anger. "If it is such a pleasure, then how dare you attack her sacred domain?"
"TYRIAN," the psycho tensed as Salem glared at him, making him back away as she looked towards the Windermereans. "I didn't realize there would be a group on Remnant that would dare attack my lands. You could either be soldiers sent from Atlas… or mercenaries that got paid for this job."
"Atlas," one of the other Draken's pilots commented with Bogue's voice. "Do you mean that pathetic military that we decimated weeks ago?"
"So you were the group that attacked their base," Watts asked them, intrigued by the design of the machines. "Exactly what is your purpose for coming here?"
"WE DON'T ANSWER TO YOU, EARTHLING—"
"Bogue," Lloyd cut in before gazing towards the scientist. "If you truly wish to know, then there is no harm in telling you." Raising his arms, he began to announce to them. "Our 'purpose' is to fully control the Starwind Sector, and we have done so with the Protoculture ruins in the Globular cluster. So imagine our surprise when we learned of a world still free of our influence?"
"You're not of this world," Hazel summed up, clenching his fist. "Does this mean that you're declaring war on Remnant?"
"Not to declare, but to extend it towards this planet." Smirking, he gazed over towards Salem while continuing. "Besides, we can't have a world that still bears the sins of the N.U.N.S. roaming free, can we?"
"N.U.N.S.?"
"Correct… the very organization that your dear mistress served… back when she was a chief scientist. Isn't that correct, Salem… or should I call you Erica Saunders?"
"HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT NAME," the Grimm queen shouted out, surprising her followers as her eyes glared at the Windermereans. "More importantly, how do you know of the N.U.N.S.?"
"How do I know? Well, it truly has been far too long for you, hasn't it?" Chuckling lightly, he looked up towards the sky before speaking out. "Well, we know of them since they established themselves in the Globular cluster, and they're currently in a war against us… exactly eight years after the war with the Vajra."
Salem's eyes went wide as the mentioned Vajra was brought up, remembering the incident where she was displaced in time alongside the Nirvana fleet thanks to the mechanized monsters. She had thought that the N.U.N.S. would have forgotten all about her and the fleet afterwards, shoving the Vajra into the deepest parts of her mind. However, if the Windermereans found out who she is and what she was, then it wouldn't surprise her that the N.U.N.S. would follow.
"And before you ask, we are also aware of the Grimm's original purpose," Lloyd dragged her out of her mind as he spoke out. "You needn't worry about the Vajra anymore, so the monsters you created are no longer needed. The time of the Grimm's at an end."
"You speak nonsense," Tyrian called out before laughing. "WHAT MAKE'S YOU THINK YOU CAN END THE GRIMM?"
"I don't think… I know." Smirking, he stepped to the side as Heinz was behind him, standing up as the chancellor spoke. "Your Highness, it's time. Show them the power of the Song of the Wind."
Nodding, the Windermerean child breathed in before singing out to Salem and her followers, his lyrics echoing out to the Grimmlands. At first, Tyrian, Watts and Hazel could only stare in confusion as the Song of the Wind echoed out to the land, but Cinder gasped as she felt her arm spasm out of control, causing her to grip it with preasure. She wasn't the only one as Salem groaned from the pain coursing through her body as the song was sung, gripping her head as her form became noticeable by the others.
However, their attention was soon taken as the Grimm covering the land started to shake out control as the Song of the Wind echoed in their ears, forcing them to back away. Lloyd watched it happen as a smirk remained on his face as the Aerial Knights saluted in their cockpits, keeping their visuals on the group of humans in front of them. Throughout the chaos, only Tyrian was angered as he glared at the Valkyries hovering closer to them.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING,' he shouted out. "MISTRESS' FORCES ARE WEAKENING WHEN THEY WERE TRYING TO REBUILD. WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO—"
"All we're doing is correcting the mistake the N.U.N.S. made to this world," Lloyd interrupted, watching the song take effect on the monsters. "The Grimm were only meant to be a weapon against the Vajra, but due to their hubris, they were unleashed against them. We're just cleaning it up."
"YOU FOOL!"
"Besides, not only will the Grimm be gone, but your 'goddess' will be nothing more than a weakened Earthling."
True to his words, when he placed his gaze on Salem, he gasped in shock as her ghostly white skin changed to the pale skin of a human while the veins receded. Growling, the psycho instantly rushed out towards the Windermereans while unleashing his weapons, jumping up into the air to cause harm to Heinz. However, he was taken by surprised as Bogue's Draken grabbed him in midair, putting enough pressure to restrain him.
With one obstacle out of the way, the Windermerean forces kept watch on Salem's form changing back into that of a normal human as her skin added more color onto it. Due to the Fold Bacteria reacting in her body in a different manner, her Grimm features slowly receded, from her ghostly white hair turning into a faded violet to her eyes changing to blood red to a dark brown. Despite her trying to restrain herself, the pain became unbearable as she let out a shriek of pain from her lungs.
As she did, the monstrous Grimm that coated the land started to die off one after another as the newborns were the first to disperse. While the Elder Grimm were able to shrug it off for the most part, they eventually fell one after the other, from the strongest Alpha Beowolf to the Queen Lancer. The Windermerean Aerial Knights watched in glee as the beasts were being wiped out en-masse while Salem's followers could only watch in shock.
As Heinz finished performing the Song of the Wind, the entirety of the Creatures of Grimm were no more as what's left died off, while Salem herself collapsed to the ground heavily panting as the pain ended. To her follower's surprise, she was no longer the intimidating figure she once was, but rather a fairly young woman in her late twenties. Looking up to the Drakens, her eyes were locked on Lloyd as his smirk remained on his face.
"Now we bear witness to who you are now, Salem," he started off. "No… I should say 'Nirvana chief scientist' Erica Saunders. Tell me, how does it feel to know you're now human again?"
"What…" she called out, catching her breath. "What have you done to me…?"
"Simply bringing you back to what you were."
"YOU BASTARDS," Tyrian's voice echoed out, prompting Bogue's fighter to increase the pressure on its grip on him as he shouted. "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY—argh… PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO HER!"
"You won't get the chance to," Bogue's voice echoed from the fighter as the redheaded Windermerean spoke out. "You're weak without your little pets, and neither of you possess the technology to oppose us."
"SHE WILL RISE AGAIN! SHE WILL UNLEASH HER CREATIONS UNTO YOU ALL! YOU HAVE ONLY SEALED YOUR DEMISE!"
"We certainly did seal a demise," the Windermerean chancellor spoke out. "Your master's demise. Bogue… end it."
Chuckling, the redhead Windermerean began to apply pressure on the Draken's fist, bringing discomfort onto Tyrian as his body started to constrict, causing him to try and wiggle out of its grasp. Growling, he shook what was free from the Valkyrie's grip, grinding his teeth as his eyes glared at the machine's cockpit. Regardless of his efforts, he couldn't escape his prison as the pressure increased while the Windermerean placed the Draken's thumb over his head, smirking before ending it quickly.
All that Salem's group could do was watch in horror as the Scorpion's life came to a sudden end by the Windermerean fighter, staring at the SV-262 as it discarded what remained out of its palm. Seeing what will become of them already, the recently turned human could only shake as the face of death stared down at the group. However, looking back, Salem spotted Cinder being farther than the other, closing her eyes as she has a plan in mind as Bogue wiped the blood away from his machine.
"It's broken," he commented nonchalantly. "I guess they don't make them as durable as they did before."
"Regardless, we completed part of our objective," Lloyd pointed out, making Salem's group tense. "The sins of the N.U.N.S. will be cleansed before returning for the succession ceremony."
Growling, Salem used what was left out of her energy to summon a Beowolf with violet markings, sending it towards Cinder before smirking at Lloyd. Tensing, the crippled woman gasped as the monster took hold of her onto its back, glancing over to her weakened mistress as Watts stayed by her. Her only option was to gasp as Salem gave one last glance alongside a smile as the Drakens prepared their weapons.
"Cinder… you must go," she muttered out, causing the amber haired woman to stare in shock. "You must go… warn the world of Windermere… before it is too late."
Before she could retort, the weakened woman beckoned the Beowolf to leave them behind, seeing it rush off as a small scale portal appeared in front of it. Watching the beast enter, she smiled as the injured follower went through the portal before it closed, knowing that she is safe for a time. Staring back at Lloyd and the Aerial Knights, Salem, once known as Erica Saunders, closed her vision once more as the sound of gunfire erupted; the sound being the only echo afterwards.
Coming out of the portal, the Beowolf carrying Cinder Fall popped out onto the courtyard of Beacon Academy before collapsing, shocking both the returning students and Chaos personnel. Stumbling on the surface, the crippled woman winced as her body collided before stopping, coughing heavily, the woman struggled to get back up on her feet until witnessing the sight in front of her, her eyes widening in shock and fear.
What was once a ruined school littered with Grimm and harboring the statue of the Wyvern, she now sees Beacon finishing its repairs as machines similar to the Drakens patrolled the skies. Projections showing battles taken in outer space displayed on the walkways as the people witnessed them in awe before her appearance. Her shock increased as the sight of the Macross Elysion stood behind the school; its size dwarfing the school.
"Came back to finish the job," she stiffened as she turned to face Ruby, amber eyes locked onto silver. "I never thought I would see you again… Cinder." Growling, she moved her mouth to speak, to wince as her injuries prevented her from communicating as the cause of her state continued. "Can't speak? Whoever did that must have been a miracle worker."
"Rubes, where did you go," another voice echoed as Yang came over, speaking to her. "We need to oversee our new tune-ups before the next sortie, and we have to—" She stopped as her lilac eyes locked onto the crippled woman, giving her a harsh glare as she approached. "Cinder… How dare you show your damn face here? I have a mind to beat you senseless—"
"Wait," her sister stopped her, putting her hand in front of the blonde as the silver eyed girl kept her gaze on Cinder. "She'll get what she deserves. What I want to know is why she's back."
"Perhaps a rematch? I'll be happy to oblige."
"Not while we're still recovering from a Windermerean attack," the young girl reminded her sister, witnessing Cinder tense under the mention of the Windermereans. "Wait a minute… did you encounter the Aerial Knights?" Seeing her nod reluctantly, Ruby only groaned as she placed her hand on her head as she spoke. "Well now this complicates things further. Our enemy is getting bolder by the minute."
"You don't think she's working for Windermere now?"
"From the way she tensed, no." Shaking her head, Ruby faced Cinder once more as her glare continued. "You'll be questioned by our Captain, but right now, the war is our main concern."
"HEY, CHECK THAT THING OUT," a random student called out, making everyone including the three girls to look up to witness a Windermerean Drone soar in the sky. While the majority of the crowd watched in surprise, the Pilots surrounding Cinder glared at the machine as it circled around the sky, emitting a smoke trail in its path as the Windermerean coat of arms appeared afterwards. The young reaper already knew that, from her experience on Randor, it would follow up with a message from Windermere as the insignia was replaced with the projection of Lloyd.
"Attention denizens of this world," the Windermerean started out, his message being displayed not only at Vale, but at the other Kingdoms and Menagerie. "I am the chancellor of the Kingdom of Windermere, Lloyd Brehm."
"What's he up to," Yang questioned as they watched the broadcast.
"For years, your lands and settlements have been devastated by a plague your forces combated, the scourge you call the Creatures of Grimm. These beasts you faced have crippled your way of life, preventing your attempts of expansion. Well I'm here to announce that those very monsters you fought… are no more."
Everyone's eyes widened in surprise as the news while Cinder gasped in shock, knowing that the woman she served must have been killed, but as they were about to celebrate, the feed continued. "The source of the monsters you fought, the one they call 'The Grimm Queen Salem,' is no more, slain by our valiant Aerial Knights… therefore removing another of Humanity's sins off this planet.
"In truth, the Creatures of Grimm were once forged by human hands; giving them an edge to fight against the Vajra should they arrive. Due to your ancestors' sins, the beasts became rampant, hindering your growth while the creations ran amok. Do not see our actions, Salem's death, as an act of kindness, yet consider it a message to you all: The Humans and all they leave behind are a disease… and we are the cleansing flames."
"What's he getting at?"
"To put it simply for your ears to comprehend," he paused as everyone digested the news. "We eradicated the Grimm not for your praise… but to remind you of the threat now in front of you. On behalf of the sovereign world of Windermere, I, Windermerean Chancellor Lloyd Brehm… extend our declaration of war to this planet."
As he finished his announcement, the feed connecting him to the world of Remnant dispersed as the drone that remained flew up into the skies, leaving behind Remnant's population in shock over what they heard. Many of the students began to panic over the idea of a war while Ruby, Cinder and Yang glared at the Windermerean drone's retreating form before the former turned to move towards the academy. Stopping briefly, she gazed back at the two, her eyes locked onto Cinder's.
"Yang, get everyone over towards the amphitheatre, then lock Cinder up," she ordered out before continuing her pace, sighing heavily as she walked towards the academy. "This had to get more complicated."
Nodding, the blonde started to call out to everyone outside the school, informing them to reach the amphitheatre before dragging Cinder over to the Macross. The crippled woman would have fought against her restraint, but the news of Salem's death echoed in her head, preventing her from performing any logical though. Gazing at the towering fortress behind the school, her only thought now was that Windermere would suffer for what they have done to her mistress, and would have to begrudgingly rely on Ruby to do so.
Eventually, everyone ranging from students to the Beacon Staff have gathered at the amphitheatre, speaking to one another over the announcement from earlier. The vast majority of them conversed with themselves over what to do now that the Grimm were gone, with many of them voicing that the Huntsmen demand will drop dramatically. While they talked, Glynda heavily sighed as she walked over to the stage, tapping the mic in front of her before coughing into her mouth.
"Everyone, may I have your attention please," she started out, only to deadpan as they continued. "Excuse me, but can you all quiet down?" Growling, she grabbed her whip before slapping it into her hand in front of the mic, causing a loud echo that stunned them all as she spoke out again. "Now that you all have quieted down, I would like to get started.
"As I am all aware of the situation, all of you have come to Beacon or the other Combat schools to learn how to be the next generation of Huntsmen. However, thanks to the declaration we received from Windermere as well as new information, many among you have now started to question yourselves over the next step. Unfortunately, the staff among you here in Beacon cannot help you in that regard, as we have no experience on them whatsoever."
Seeing everyone's faces cast crestfallen expressions, the blonde instructor looked over to her side to see Ernest approach the podium before continuing. "Because we teachers lack the experience on this sort of event, I have encountered those that have, considering they are the ones repairing the school. They have the technology and the information needed to explain the situation, and in light of Windermere's announcement, they have agreed to speak. Please, allow me to you to their representatives."
Stepping to the side, she watched everyone gasp as the Zentradi Captain took the stage alongside Arad and Kaname, smirking as the large man spoke into the mic. "Thank you all for coming. As Glynda stated, we are the representatives of Chaos, a civilian contractor responsible for repairing your academy. I am the Captain of this outfit's division, Ernest Johnson, and alongside me are Chaos' Delta Platoon commander Arad Molders and the Tactical Sound Unit's leader Kaname Buckaneer. We are willing to share details concerning Windermere and its tactics, as well as share our experiences to you all."
"All we ask is that you keep an open mind to what you're about to hear," Arad cuts in, crossing his arms as his gaze met the students. "Many among you wouldn't believe us otherwise."
Hearing them all mutter to one another, the Zentradi coughed into his mouth to silence them before speaking out. "As you have all heard, the Kingdom of Windermere has declared the destruction of the Creatures of Grimm on your soil, alongside the declaration of war onto this planet. To you all, this is very sudden, never hearing about them… but to Windermere's eyes… Remnant is a forgotten N.U.N.S. colony as their technology was underground."
"This is proven true during the Mistral incident months ago, when the establishment's local Huntsman forces suddenly turned against the populace," Kaname took over, watching them gasp in surprise as images of the incident popped up on screen. "While the public broadcasts announced the cause of the incident to be a Grimm born virus, it is far from the truth. Not to mention the discovery of the VF-171 Nightmares that appeared." Pausing, she switched the visuals over to view the mentioned machine, hearing everyone gasp as she continued. "The Huntsman going out of control, as well as the appearance of N.U.N.S. tech on this world was enough to convince Windermere that Remnant was an N.U.N.S. colony, allowing them extend their declaration of war."
"If what the news said was 'far from the truth,' then what caused Mistral's Huntsmen to go out of control," one of the students asked out loud.
"The Mistral incident was caused by a phenomenon we like to call 'The Var Syndrome,'" the Delta pilot answered in place. "Physical changes caused by the Var include an increased size in muscle mass, veins bulging in the skin and an uncontrollable desire to cause havoc." He then gazed as the imagery shifted to a man restrained in a medical ward with the symptoms while continuing. "At first, the incidents were random at best, but over our battles against Windermere, we learned that they utilize the Var, using it to control a planet's garrison fleet. No doubt the Var outbreak that happened at Mistral was likely one of Windermere's experiments."
"As of now, Windermere has control of the Brisingr Globular Cluster, to which this planet's on the edge," Ernest regained control. "I suspect that Windermere are waiting for this planet to provide a challenge against them as it lacks N.U.N.S. support. Besides, four brave young girls that came to this school have fought against Windermere time and time again during the war… only three of them remain standing as their teammate and Remnant native Blake Belladonna lost her life."
"She fought bravely against the tides, and now her fight is carried on by her teammates," Arad fondly pointed out, glancing over as Ruby, Yang and Weiss stepped onto the stage to face the crowd. "In my service, no one has exceeded my expectations other than these three who, when we first encountered them, never heard of the Macross or the Valkyries. Now, they stand among us as valuable pilots, and I wouldn't trade them for anyone else."
"What we're trying to say is that, due to the losses the N.U.N.S. has sustained, alongside our own forces, demand for pilots will be high," the Elysion captain pointed out as he crossed his arms. "I know this sounds like I'm asking a lot out of you all, but thanks to Windermere's actions, this world's means of defense is now void." Closing his eyes, he bowed in front of the crowd as he finished. "I promise… We'll do whatever it takes to end this war. Just bear with us until then."
As he bowed over to those gathered, most of the students and staff became unsure over what they heard from them. While JN(P)R was glad that their friends represented Remnant in the battles against Windermere, those that don't know them well looked over one another with worried glances over the thought of the war. As they all gathered their thoughts, the girls of RW(B)Y kept their eyes on their fellow alumni, watching if any of them would leave.
"Are you freaking kidding me," a familiar voice echoed as the crowd turned to the source, who turned out to be Sun as he had a smirk. "A chance to go into outer space fighting aliens… what sort of idiot would walk away from this. Sounds like fun if you ask me."
"Sun," Yang muttered in awe as he kept up.
"Besides, those Windermere bastards killed Blake, and as a friend of hers, I won't let that slide."
"Well, if fearless leader agrees, then we have to follow along," Neptune spoke up as he joined him. "It also sounds like they were responsible for Sage going psycho back in Mistral."
"You can count us in as well," Coco shouted out with her own smirk. "So long as I get to see those girls' outfits."
"COCO," Velvet shouted out as their teammates shook their heads.
"Come on; don't tell me you're not curious on how those outfits changed in an instant."
"That's only you."
Hearing them call out, the Zentradi smiled as he stood back up to observe the change in the atmosphere, hearing more and more call out to assist. Looking at Kaname, he nodded to her as she started to update the information on her tablet while Arad chuckled. Turning back to the group, he placed his hands behind his back as his eyes met the audience.
"I can see why you all chose your profession as Huntsmen," he started out. "Each and every one of you will be placed in a division that works best for you all, from operations, mechanics and pilots. Follow your seniors' orders to the letter, and we shall make it through this war."
"Those chosen by pilots will be under the supervision of both the Alpha and Beta Platoons," Arad added in. "Operations will be handled by Winter as she has been entrusted to us by Atlas, while Takasugi is in charge of the Mechanics-to-be."
"Any questions that you may have will be directed to your handlers," the Sound unit leader spoke up. "Remember, you are no longer going up against monsters, but against a sovereign planet's forces and the Var forces under their command."
"We shouldn't forget their studies either," Glynda spoke up, walking up to the Zentradi. "While the school is under repairs, all of you mustn't slack off on your classes. Ensure that you hold the spirit while undergoing your new workload. Dismissed."
With that said, the amphitheatre became erupted with chatter as Glynda stepped off the stage alongside the captain, leaving the organization to Kaname and Arad as the girls joined up with the crowd to answer any questions. Far from them, Summer and Raven watched the interactions with their arms crossed, with the former smiling over how they have changed. Glancing over to Raven, silver eyes locked onto blood red for a moment before the two walked over to the VF-25 Messiah in Gerwalk Mode, sharing the flight plans the older Rose has in mind.
Already, Remnant's history has now changed course, from the Var outbreak in Mistral months ago, to Windermere's extended declaration of war.
A/N: OH HOW I MISSED WORKING ON THIS! WHY HAVE I BEEN AWAY FROM IT ALL! Oh, right… the laptop freezing and losing 5000 words worth of work.
I heavily, HEAVILY apologize for not updating this fic in months, as life kept throwing wrenches my way. First off was obviously what I had mentioned before. Not to mention I haven't been in the proper mindset to get to work on this fic. But now, I finally got back into the swing of things. I just hope I can keep the momentum going.
This chapter marks the end of Arc III: The Truth of Remnant, and boy what a game changer it was. First, we have the appearance of Salem and her group, and while they are a prominent threat in the main RWBY story, they only make a minor appearance in this fic since Windermere has been a threat since the start of this story. Now, before anyone tells me 'Oh, Salem is immortal. Have you not watched Volume 6?,' I have to say I haven't. Hell, I'm even aware that it did her backstory as well. As to why, I firmly stated that I won't be following Volumes 4 and onward, only sticking with what I already have in place.
Review Replies (Both last chapter and the removed update):
Chapter 24
GXY-2013: "I was also asked to bring out how the react fics would go for this crossover. The RWBY girls can be in either their Volume 4 or Volume 5 situations when they suddenly appear in a void like space, where an Arbiter (your choice of either author self or fictional character) displays the events of this fic to them. Direction, intermissions and even breaks are all on your hands too. Whoever is interested in doing a react fic for this has my green light for this."
Well, while I prefer Volume 2 or early Volume 3 RWBY characters react to Macross RWBY Delta, but I guess that's okay too.
That concept you just mentioned has never been done since RWBY Volume 1 to 3 Characters Reaction stories are more popular, so now I'm hoping that the someone will do the RWBY characters from Volume 4 or 5, or maybe the upcoming Volume 6, will react to watching Macross RWBY Delta. It could be good.
This will include other characters from Volume 4 and 5, like Oscar, Ilia, Ghira and Kali Belladonna, Raven (although she already appeared before that, you guys must include her too) and Vernal.
True, those Volumes are the most prominent, but I feel that with Volume 4 and onward, the cast would witness a different branch of the future.
Of course, there are those reviewers that would go out of the way of reporting those fics. From what I can see even the authors that do react fics on their own stories are under fire and have to jump sites just to work on them. You always have to be careful, right?
StrikeFreedomX2: Arkos or no? At least on the side.
A brief mention here and there.
Alexwu704: It seems that the last member of team JNPR was still alive after the battle at Atlas
Ruby against Pyrrha was sight to behold and managed to save a life
And Roid, I have a feeling he's interested of Ruby Rose power in
One more chapter before the end of Act III, I believe the next chapter will be a big one
See you in the next chapter
This has always been in my mind ever since I introduced Crimson. Keep in mind that I'm always full of surprises.
As for Roid (Lloyd), He may be interested, but for the most part, he's busy with keeping an eye on Prince Heinz as well as the war against the N.U.N.S.
Xzorshio: So Pyrrha Nikos and Pyrrha Gale Windermere is one and the same person? I even thought they're coincidentally separate persons but how did Pyrrha can be human and Windermerean at the same time? I hope this will be addressed in the next chapters. Now for the Passionate Walküre, we'll just gonna wait for a month for its Blu-ray release and I heard it will have official English subs!
Hopefully this chapter can explain a thing or two at the beginning.
OFFICIAL ENGLISH SUBS? Please, I hope this is not a rumor.
Shidou Haruka: Well, that was… something. So Pyrrha is back. Will we be getting a triangle with Jaune and Kumokumo? Just had to ask that.
Nothing wrong with asking. Though, to be fair, Mikumo is the type to tease, and who to tease for the fun of it than Jaune Arc himself?
Edrap: Well with Pyrrha thing, this is getting complicated. But I think you had it planned.
Also, if the SDF-1 would have ended in Remnant instead of Pluto's orbit, How could Ironwood react at making a peaceful contact with SDF main Crew and Captain Global?
Ahh, OK. Well, apologies for being gone first and formost, and I saw that it's been taken down, so what Advice I'll give would probably be moot, but…
Well, at first, Ironwood, seeing the SDF-1 for the first time, would probably be cautious of the fortress at first, considering it's his first time seeing such a ship that big. However, when provided with video proof of the Zentradi's dangerous potential from salvaged video logs from the two carriers prior to the attack on Macross city, he would offer asylum and assistance to Captain Global.
Update (removed as of this chapter)
Alexwu704: Man, I'm sorry about the work.
It's OK. Annoying as it is, I had to take a break for a time. I was going to work on this on January, but I got slammed again by writer's block.
Edrap: That's totally annoying. Anyway, have you ever used Google docs?
thats a nice way to save every document.
Honestly, I didn't even think about it until you brought it up. But I think I'm going to develop a habit of saving whenever I need a break. Besides, I have a few different accounts on Google that it would be a pain to switch between one and the other (one of them has all my YouTube channel subscriptions)
GXY-2013: Damn, I feel bad for you. I had a different problem with my laptop as well. Not disabling the password before boot up to safe mode is really bad idea. I manage to safe files to the D Drive, and manage to move my many files to my portable hard disk before resetting my laptop. Unfortunately, I couldn't save the ones back in the C Drive, because I cannot access them in safe mode, so they are all gone when I forced to reset my laptop.
:(
It can be quite a hassle when dealing with laptops. For me, when it's not freezing, it's waiting for my mom to finish up on her Facebook games so I could get back to typing.
Ranjira1988: *winces* that sucks losing all that work I know how it feels too take your time (also Awesome story so far)
Don't worry, Everything's been handles. And thank you for taking the time to read this.
I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter. What do you think? Leave a Favorite, Follow and Review.
Sorry I have been gone for months on end.
With that out of the way, I'm BlazefireDrago, Signing out.
