CHAPTER 25: Barry and his parents
With everyone still crowded at the scene within Vanessa's apartment, just as Ken was being dragged to the police car, Vanessa herself, alongside the thousands of bees that emerged right after Ken had hit her, got through the many police officers to stand out at the front garden, watching Ken struggle into the car.
"You guys don't know what it's been like! I've had my life RUINED!" Ken exclaimed, just trying to stop himself from being put into the car.
"Yeah yeah, save it for the station, tough guy..." one of the officers holding Ken by the armpit said
"What a fraud...do you guys condone this?!" Ken asked.
"Just get him into the car..." an officer standing besides the two officers grabbing Ken said.
They yanked him into the police car, as he didn't bother fighting back; he knew his life was pretty much over, and his career was at a dead end. And why? Because of those tiny, irrelevant, disgusting little bees. As the two officers walked towards the front doors of their police car with Ken in the back, Ken looked out the window to Vanessa, just standing besides a flying Barry, now holding his parents with pure emotions, and the thousands of bees from the hive, with Adam; they simply waved at Ken himself and chuckled in a satire manner as he looked back from the car window with a depressing frown, just staring at them depressingly with a statue-like appearance; he didn't move at all.
The car set off; and thus, Ken was officially set to be punished for his actions. Vanessa, Barry, and the thousands of bees, as their collective flying generated one gigantic buzzing noise, cheered together as they had officially eradicated the threat in Ken himself.
"Mum...dad...I love you...I love you...I promise, I won't ever take your words for granted again!" Barry said, unable to let go of his parents, he's missed them and felt worried for them that much.
"Son, you're exaggerating...you never did such a thing before what happened happened...but hey, I don't think you need to pit the praise on us...your human companion here did all the work..." Barry's father said, with the thousands of bees turning to Vanessa.
Barry flew away from his parents briefly to move closer to Vanessa; there was no way he could go back to the hive without genuinely thanking her for helping him and his parents out in the midst of this crisis.
"Yeah, I uh, I never got the chance really...uh, Vanessa, I think we, as bees, truly owe it to you...whatever you want, we'll do it...we need to pay back the favour, and me, especially...thank you...and thank you for helping me bring my parents back to safety..." Barry said, as Adam suddenly hovered in from the side.
"Yeah, you should also apologize to me for having those outbursts...you know, when I was TRYING TO HELP YOU OUT?!" Adam exclaimed to Barry.
"Oh Adam, I already told you...they weren't meant, alright? Haha..."
"I can tell you haven't changed in the slightest, Barry..." Barry's mum said, acknowledging that her son's personality hasn't changed a single bit since she was kidnapped by Ken.
Vanessa smiled and nodded at the bees, and Barry. She moved her index finger out towards Barry so he could high-five her; using her full palm would accidentally knock him down, as it's done in the past.
"Well, I guess I could use a bit of a helping hand...I'm actually gonna re-open my flower shop soon...think you guys could be the physical advertising figures?" Vanessa said.
What Vanessa meant by that was that the bees, because they're associated with honey and flowers, and Vanessa's shop is associated with flowers, could act like advertisers and representatives of her flower shop. It'd be like a campaign to get more customers into the shop.
The bees warmed up to that idea, as Vanessa started smiling at them. Barry simply flew back towards his parents after Vanessa's offer was accepted by the thousands of bees, hugging his parents again.
"I love you guys...I always will..."
And thus, as parents and kid embraced, the thousands of bees, and Vanessa in the background, cheered and chuckled upon the celebrations of getting rid of Ken. The time was just perfect for things to go back to the way they were, not just for Vanessa, but also for the bees; Ken was no longer around to cause harm to their hive, after all.
It was glorious, and beautiful.
But Ken's best pal in Andy, the guy who's now moving places due to the guilt crawling through his brain from his encounter with Barry and his parents whilst his parents were still trapped in the jar by Ken, was well and away from the celebrations. In fact, just as he was driving on the road, with his wife, he wanted to clarify to her that he didn't want anything to do with nature.
Andy was driving the car with focus, trying to take his mind off of those human-like bees, the bees that made him buckle from helping Ken. His wife didn't believe a single story that he was saying about the whole 'bee' thing, which only made it more bad for Andy.
"Andy, I think you need to stop dreaming...you know, we could've saved all that money for something more worthwhile, and yet you're genuinely serious about moving?" his wife said, as she was sat next to him in the car.
"Babe, I know this sounds strange, but just bare with me, I need to concentrate...I've had the internal vibe of a bad man from my experience, and I've gotta get rid of it by staying away from that area, maybe for good..."
"Oh cut it out, Andrew...you'll never get to see Ken again by doing this..." she said, not knowing that Ken's actually in jail now, "and I'm seriously not happy about you doing this without my consent...I mean, for crying out loud, we're married, don't you think it would've been more acceptable to have asked for my permission first? I didn't even get a chance to pack everything up..."
"Look, I'm sorry, but I've gotta do this for my mental health...I...oh my god, what is that JERK doing?! Why is he stopping at the GREEN LIGHT! GO, YOU MORON! GO ON, GO!" Andy yelled, losing his cool on the road as road rage started taking over his mind, from thinking about the whole bee experience.
"I SWEAR TO GOD, I'LL LAY ON THIS HORN FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE- THERE YOU GO, IT ONLY TOOK YOU ABOUT A MINUTE TO PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN!" Andy yelled again, angered by the car that didn't go on the green light on the traffic light for a minute.
"But listen, I didn't mean to do this...I just need to get away and restore my mental health...for now, I feel like a criminal...I'm just...I just feel like a person who needs to be behind bars, I feel that bad...you should've seen them, they were talking bees...and it made them human-like...I-wow..." Andy said, as he slowly drove the car over a bridge.
A bit of road rage on Andy's behalf was clearly a sign that he's been affected by this whole crisis, and even now, separating himself from Ken didn't seem to help. Maybe when he's been away for a few months, it'll make him feel normal again? If not, then this'll be an experience that'll disturb him for the rest of his life.
Alas, with Ken now in jail, peace could finally prosper for real amongst bees and humans.
Author's note: Funny story, I didn't actually intend on doing a Bee Movie fanfic at all, but it kinda just tapped into my head, and I went ahead and did it anyways. Hopefully you enjoyed it, and let me know what you thought! I may or may not come back here in the future, given that it was quite a fun story to write. Have a good day, friends! PEAACEE!
