Hello! First of all, I just wanna apologize for not updating in over four weeks! That's like, a month! Jeez! But college (ugh) has bombarded me with projects, essays, papers and everything else, that I just didn't have time to write at all! I am so sorry because I know that many of you have been PMing me asking when I'll update. I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting, but thanks for being patient with me!
Here's chapter 25!
Jack continued to stare at her, as if waking up from a dream for the first time, asking himself if this was real or just some sick joke that his mind was playing on him. He felt his chest ache when her eyes connected with his again. Those dazzling blue irises that he has longed to see, that face that he use to look upon everyday. Everything. It was her. It was really her, right in front of him, alive again.
Alive, for the first time in two months.
Jack watched as she continued to stare at him until she broke their gaze to look down at her surroundings. He watched as her eyebrows furrowed in confusion when she noticed that she was covered in a thin white cloth. She carefully pushed herself up until she was sitting upright before slowly picking the cloth off her body with her slender fingers.
She looked at the cloth for a few seconds before her eyes darted around her. She gasped audibly when she realized that she was still in the hospital room and in that moment, she instantly looked down to her palms in fright, as if afraid that her powers had done something again.
Jack wanted to go over to her, to just be with her, to stare her in the eyes so that he knows that she is really alive again, but for some reason, he couldn't. He continued to stare at her in astonishment, in wonder and awe, still unable to believe that the young woman he is so incredibly in love with, the woman who has been dead for the past two months, is awake and alive and breathing.
She inhaled shakily as her hands trembled, before looking up to meet the Guardian's gaze again. Jack could see the intense confusion in her eyes, almost to the point where she looked like she was about to cry. She looked back down again, and it absolutely broke him. He knew that he has a lot of explaining to do, but as of now, he just wanted to hold her in his arms and never let go.
"Elsa?" he asked quietly.
She slowly raised her gaze once more as her weary hands turned into shaky fists. Her bottom lip began to quiver. "Wh-what happened?"
Jack felt his chest clench when he heard the tremble in her voice.
Elsa's chest rose up and down before looking down into her palms again. "What have I done?"
The moment those words left Elsa's mouth, hearing her blame herself for something again, even when it had nothing to do with her, made Jack's body cringe with guilt. It killed him to hear Elsa blame herself because it made him feel as if he wasn't doing enough to protect her. Elsa, blaming herself for yet another thing, always treating herself like the villain. And Jack always tries so hard to tell her the opposite, but at times, Elsa just doesn't want to believe him.
And without wasting another second, Jack instantly flew over to her, took her in his arms and gently pressed his lips onto hers. He held onto her delicate frame, not ever wanting to let go, as he pulled her closer to his body. Elsa froze in his grasp, breathless, before kissing him back. However, it only took a short moment before she began to cry.
"Nothing," Jack answered her when he pulled away, leaning his forehead against hers. He continued to hold onto her in a protective manner, as if terrified that she would die again. He closed his eyes as he pulled back to kiss her forehead. She was shaking beneath his touch.
But Elsa pulled away from their embrace, her head in too much of a daze to even fathom what was going on. She looked at him, still keeping a tight grasp on his blue sweater.
"Jack," her voice trembled when she said his name again.
Jack reached over and gently caressed her cheek, running his cold thumb over her soft cheekbones. He smiled weakly at her, feeling himself go breathless at the sight of her elegance, longing deeply for her touch, her voice, her smile, everything. He just couldn't believe that he was looking at her again.
Her chest was heaving up and down as each breath became harder to conjure. She exhaled shakily before looking down at her palms one last time.
Jack reached over and held both of her hands in his, feeling her icy cold skin beneath his fingers. Her eyes met his once more. She just wanted to lean in and kiss him, as much as Jack wanted to kiss her, but she was just so...lost.
Elsa had so many questions. Too many, in fact. Her mind was clouded and distorted as endless questions screamed through her mind. Why was she in the hospital wing? Why is Jack acting so strange? Where is everyone? She couldn't remember a single thing and she needed answers, but at the same time, there was something inside of her that chilled her thoughts to the bone, as if this - whatever is happening - is something she doesn't want to hear.
"Where is everyone?" she whispered shakily. "Where are Anna and Kristoff?"
Jack felt his voice get stuck in his throat as his mind darted towards Anna and Kristoff. How was he ever going to explain this to them? To everyone? Most importantly, how was he ever going to explain this to Elsa? But before he could answer, he heard her gasp before he turned to her. He watched as Elsa pulled herself away from his grasp as her eyes widened with panic, before her hands flew on top of her stomach. Elsa suddenly felt sick, the moment she realized that her stomach is now flat.
"My baby," she whispered before staring up at him.
"Elsa..." Jack began.
"Where is the baby, Jack?" Elsa's breaths began to quicken as she felt her fragile hands begin to tremble once more. "Where's our-"
"Relax," Jack said, gently holding her shoulders. "Just calm down first, please."
But Elsa couldn't calm down as she only wanted to know where her baby is. Her memory was extremely vague, but she could feel her mind starting to clear up when she thought about the baby. Her memory was still foggy, but small fragments were starting to come back. Her pregnancy, labour, all the tears that she shed, the burn when she pushed her premature infant out...
Elsa felt tears line the rims of her eyes, wanting nothing more than to know where her baby is.
"Jack, where is our baby?" she whispered.
Jack could hear the panicked concern in her voice; it was the motherly instincts that Jack had longed to hear. And it broke him to hear Elsa's voice shatter like that while she asked for the child she had barely held in her arms before her death.
"He's fine," he assured her gently. "I promise, he's completely fine."
"Where is he? I want to see him," Elsa pleaded. Like any parent, it was natural of her to want to see her baby, but in the situation that she is currently in, the more she longed for her child, the more it hurt.
"I-I just...just listen to me for a moment. Please," Jack whispered, leaning into her. He desperately wanted to tell her, but he knew that she was already in enough pain and confusion. And the last thing he wanted was to add to it. But at the same time, he knew he has no way out.
She didn't know why, but she began to cry. Whether it was from the confusion, or the anger or for the need to see her baby, Elsa began to sob quietly into Jack's chest. Jack closed his eyes, feeling hatred grow upon himself for putting her in this situation. He held her closely, feeling the pain through her quiet cries, before pulling back to look at her in the eyes. He carefully reached over and held her face in his cold palms. He just had to look at her, still unable to believe that she has woken up.
The longer Jack stared at her, the more he noticed the small changes in her appearance. There was something about her that was different; her blue eyes looked a bit lighter, her hair looked like silk, the pinkness of her cheeks were replaced by high, white cheekbones, the colour of her lips matched the colour of berries.
She looked different, but at the same time, she still looked the same. It was still her, but it was as if immortality had swept it's elegance upon Elsa to decorate her into a new person, all while keeping her appearance the same. She was gorgeous, stunning and breathtaking in every way imaginable.
"You're back," Jack breathed out suddenly, unable to take his eyes off her.
Elsa stared at him when he said those words. She looked down at the hospital bed she was sitting upon, before returning her gaze back to him. Every inhale and exhale became heavier as her mind continued to increase with confusion.
"Wh...what?" she asked.
Jack sighed deeply before reaching over to tuck a strand of her loose hair behind her ear, before cupping her cheek. "I really wish it was easy, Elsa, but...it's hard to explain," he said under his breath.
"Jack," she said abruptly. "What are you talking about?"
"Just..." he whispered. "Just trust me."
With another trembling breath, Elsa managed to pull herself away from Jack, staring at him wide-eyed. "You're...you're keeping something from me, aren't you," she whispered.
He exhaled, but nodded his head.
Elsa began to feel hundreds of emotions at once; hurt because she and Jack never keep anything away from each other, or so she thought. Then she felt scared because she has never seen Jack so serious before. Then she felt angry at him for not answering her questions when she desperately needed them, and dozens of other incoherent feelings.
"Jack," she whispered under her breath. "What are you hiding from me?"
He unlocked gazes from her and looked down. "If I tell you, you'll never believe me."
That statement sent a lightning bolt of fear throughout her body. Jack felt her body tense up. Her eyes were glossy; she was on the verge of tears again.
"What does that mean?" she asked breathlessly, feeling her chest clench when she looked into his eyes.
Jack closed his eyes and breathed through his nose. He opened his eyes again to reveal his ice blue pupils - the same eyes that Elsa saw in her nightmares many months ago, the eyes that their baby boy inherited. Jack reached over and held Elsa's hands in his before taking a deep breath.
"It's not that easy," he said again. "I wish there was an easier way of telling you without hurting you."
"Hurting me?" she asked. "Jack, you're hurting me by not telling me."
"I know," he whispered as he shook his head to himself. "But you don't understand how hard this is, Elsa."
"What is, Jack?" she asked. Her voice began to rise as she felt herself grow more frustrated and angry, rather than confused."What aren't you telling me? What are you hiding from me?"
He looked at her for a few seconds before telling himself that he literally has no way out of this mess. He had to tell her; what else could he do but tell her the truth? That he, the young man she loves, the young man that she put all her trust into, the young man who is the father of her child, has kept a vital and dangerous secret all this time, a secret that involved life and death. Jack thought about the things that has happened within the past few months. He just couldn't forgive himself for it, and if he couldn't forgive himself, then how would Elsa?
He looked down, searching for his voice to speak. "I...I just want you to know that this was inevitable, that I had no way to stop it," Jack breathed out. "North tried to find another way, to find an easier way out of this, but there wasn't."
She looked at him, frozen, for a few seconds. "What on earth are you talking about?"
But Jack continued. "I know you'll hate me after this, but I'll understand. But I let this happen because I love you, Elsa, and because I love our son. And I wish that there could have been another way, but this...this was the only way to save you."
"Save me?" she echoed.
He stared at her for a few moment before holding her tightly. "And I am so sorry for putting you in this situation, Elsa. I swear, I will never let anything like this happen ever again," he whispered.
"Jack, y-you're starting to scare me," she said, truly feeling frightened of him for the first time.
Those words hurt, but he tried his best to push them aside. He continued to look into her eyes, staring at her as if he was studying something, before saying, "I need you to tell me what you remember."
"What?"
Jack breathed in deeply. "Before I tell you everything that you want to know, I need you to tell me what you remember. I need you to tell me what you last remember before waking up. Even the smallest thought will help."
But Elsa shook her head as tears began to spill from her eyes. She was scared, confused and lost. "I don't remember anything," she said.
"Just try," Jack pleaded. "Please."
"But I can't, Jack," she replied weakly. "I don't remember anything at all."
He sighed and shook his head, knowing that no matter what, nothing was going to help. "Here, give me your hand," he said softly.
"What?"
"Your hand," he repeated, holding his palm out.
Elsa stared at him for a few seconds before reluctantly placing her hand over his. Carefully, Jack led their hands until they were close to Elsa's chest, before placing Elsa's hand over the spot where her heart laid. She looked down at their hands, before looking back up at him. However, Jack wasn't looking back.
"What do you feel?" he asked in a whisper.
Elsa hesitated for a moment as her eyes concentrated hard on the cold ground. But after a few seconds of pure silence, she looked up, her eyes searching his for some sort of answer or explanation. She pressed her hand harder on her chest, but there was nothing. No movement, so sound - nothing at all.
She shook her head. "I-I don't feel anything..." she answered quietly.
The sound of her sweet, timid voice absolutely broke him. How he hated this; he hated how he was the one who put her through this without her even knowing, that she and their son had suffered the worst type of consequences because of him and the things going on in his immortal life. The last thing he ever wanted to do was to hurt Elsa in any way, but Jack knows that what he is about to do is going to hurt her in the worst way possible.
Elsa pressed harder, trying to feel something, anything at all. But after a long, daunting moment of complete silence, she slowly raised her gaze to meet Jack's blue eyes again, which were piercing right back into her.
Her heart. It wasn't moving. It wasn't beating.
Her heart was frozen. As if she was...dead.
It was as if everything had hit her at once. Piece by piece, fragment by fragment, everything started to come back. The death of her baby, the sudden revival, and...the vial. Her entire body began to shake. Slowly but painfully, her mind started to put the puzzle back together.
"Jack, my heart isn't...it's not..." she whispered shakily as tears began to rise again. She moved backwards away from him as her body began to flood with overbearing emotions of pain, grief, confusion and anger. "What...I-I...what did you do?"
Jack felt like a monster for doing this to her, to the girl he loved more than any damn thing in this entire damn universe. He gulped before trying to move in closer, but Elsa stopped him. His breath was trembling, but his eyes never left hers.
"Elsa, please listen to me," he begged quietly.
"No," she answered as tears streaked her pale, white cheeks. "W-What did you do to me?"
It was as if the words got stuck in his throat. He didn't want to tell her, he didn't want to hurt her, but what else could he do? There was no other solution than to tell her the truth, to tell her what really happened two months ago. How he needed his fellow Guardians right now; they would definitely know what to do. After all, Jack isn't the only one who knows about the vial and the Moon's plan. North, Bunny, Sandy and Tooth do too.
Jack looked at her one last time before saying the words he has never imagined of saying. "You...you're immortal now."
Elsa stared at him without a single sign of movement, staring at him as if he had spoken words from a completely different language. It felt exactly like the time when Anna turned into ice; the way her heart collapsed when she saw her sister's entire body glisten with ice, her ice. But this...this felt worse.
"Immortal," she whispered the word. "L-Like you?"
Jack closed his eyes and nodded his head.
"How?" Elsa stifled a gasp, which made Jack look back at her. "Why?"
"I-I had to, Elsa," he replied.
Without even realizing it, Elsa moved away from him, wanting to be far away from him as possible. She began to sob breathlessly, unable to comprehend the very situation she was in, wondering why he did this - him of all people! She began to wonder how someone she loved and trusted with all her heart could do something like this to her.
"You..." she breathed out. "You killed me."
"No! God, no, please don't say that," Jack's voice shook. Despite Elsa trying to push him away, he move in closer to her once more until he was face to face with her. He could see the raw pain in her eyes. He reached over and held her hand. "No, Elsa, listen to me first, please. It's not what you think, it's-"
"Not what I think?" she fired. "Then explain to me, Jackson, why I'm in the hospital room, why I wasn't able to remember a single thing until I thought about the death of our child, and that...that vial that you gave me? And tell me why I can't feel my heartbeat move anymore, Jack. Tell me why I can't feel it!"
"It's not what you think," he repeated weakly.
"Why did you do this?" she cried.
Elsa could feel her body tear into two, her now immortal heart was shattered into a million pieces. How could he do this to her? Jack Frost, the one person she trusted more than her own sister? He's the one who has changed her life in so many ways, the person who allowed her to open up and to love again. The person she spent endless days and nights with, with their ice powers and soft kisses and cold embraces...
How could he do this to her?
"Elsa..." he whispered.
"No! Stay away!" she cried, putting her hands out in front of her to defend herself, as if her powers could do any damage to him.
Jack watched as beads of tears rolled down her cheeks. "I'm so sorry."
"You turned me," she whispered, feeling her chest break every time she said those words. "You turned me into an immortal."
"Let me explain," Jack pleaded.
"No," she whispered. "Just...no."
"Elsa, if you would just let me speak," Jack fired, now feeling angry at not only himself, but now at her. "I know that you're in shock right now, and that you're angry at me, or that you even hate me for that matter. Fine, I get it. I understand. But you have got to listen. Do you think I wanted to hurt you like this, to suddenly tell you that you are no longer...mortal?"
Elsa turned away. She still couldn't believe it. Her, an immortal. No longer a person. Those words were like acid to her.
"Then why," she choked out. "Why did you do this?"
"Because you were dying, Elsa," Jack answered hopelessly. "And this was the only way to save you. Believe me, I didn't want to do this to you. I wanted to keep you as a mortal human being because immortality isn't worth it. This...life that I live, it's not worth the pain. Living for hundreds of years while the people around you die...I-I didn't want you to go through that."
Elsa began to sob silently to herself as Jack's words replayed themselves in her head like a broken record. "Then why did you go through with it?"
"Because when we both found out that our child had died, I knew that I couldn't afford losing you. Losing our baby was bad enough, Elsa, that I just couldn't deal with losing anybody else, especially you. And you know that that is something we have feared since the day we first met; I could live forever while you age everyday. You know that, Elsa. We both feared the day when we would be separated by death," Jack said.
Elsa didn't want to think about it, but he was right. Death has been on her mind since the very first day she fell in love with him. She was terrified, mortified of the day she would leave the earth because it would mean leaving Jack in an eternity of grief.
"The vial," she whispered.
Jack was surprised that she even brought it up, but he nodded his head, even though she couldn't see; Elsa still refused to look at him. "The vial was made to save you, because when the baby died inside of your stomach, you were dying along with it. And I had no other choice than to give it to you. Even though I wanted you to stay mortal, to spare you of this life that I live, I knew that I would never forgive myself if I let you and our child die right in front of me."
"But our baby returned to life..." she whispered.
Jack nodded again. "The baby returned to life because of the vial."
"Then why didn't you tell me about this? All of this?" she asked.
"Because I wasn't allowed to," Jack sighed in defeat. "I wanted to. You have no idea how much I wanted to tell you, Elsa, but if I did tell you, you and our baby would die. This entire thing was sworn to secrecy between the Guardians and I."
Elsa blinked multiple times to get rid of the tears that were obstructing her view. "They knew about this the whole time too?"
"Yeah," Jack whispered.
Elsa felt her entire body come to a dead halt as she tried to grasp everything that Jack had said so far. Her baby, the vial, Jack, the Guardians, immortality...it all seemed unreal.
A long, long moment of pure silence passed between the Guardian and Queen. Not a single noise nor word was made until Jack finally looked back at her. However, Elsa was still looking away from him.
"I know you hate me," Jack whispered. "But there was no other way. If I hadn't of done it, then you and our baby would both be dead. Giving you the vial - turning you into an immortal - was the only way to save you and our son. I-I couldn't lose both of you."
"I don't hate you," she whispered. "I'm just..."
Elsa couldn't continue. She looked down into her palms again, as if she was waiting for her flurries to spiral out of control. But all her emotions were compiled as one that it made her feel lifeless and dead as her new immortal soul.
"Elsa, I-"
"No, Jack. Stop. Please. I don't want to speak to you right now," she whispered, trying to swallow her cries as she spoke. "I want to see Anna."
Jack exhaled. That was the other thing that he had to explain, not only to Elsa, but to Anna, Kristoff and the entire Kingdom.
"I can't let you do that right now..." Jack whispered.
Elsa finally turned back towards him. "Why not?"
Out of everything, this was probably the thing he feared the most. He raised his head, watching as her eyes searched his for any sign of emotion. But Jack looked back down, not wanting to see her expression when he tells her.
"Because Anna thinks you're dead," he whispered.
Elsa felt her heart drop to the bottom of the earth as her breath got knocked out of her chest. "Wh-What?"
She couldn't understand. Dead? How could Anna think that she's dead? She only saw her yesterday, didn't she? She last saw Anna and Kristoff yesterday when she gave birth to her son...right?
"Jack," Elsa whispered, her gaze shooting into his. "How long has it been?"
He sighed. "Elsa, I don't-"
"How long has it been, Jack?" she exclaimed, feeling fire within her icy veins.
The Guardian sat back, noticing that the atmosphere grew ten times colder. "Two months..."
And in that very moment, ice and frost started to creep up the walls. The room grew dimmer and colder as Elsa's snow powers started to dominate the hospital room walls. She was angry - more than just angry. She was enraged and disgusted.
"Two. Months," she whispered. "I've been dead for two months?"
Jack nodded. "That's why you're in the hospital room. This is where your body has been lying since, y'know..."
Once again, silence came over them. There will never be enough words to express the utter pain that both Jack and Elsa feel, both in different ways but both as painful as the other. Jack knew that this would be hard, but he didn't realize how hard it would really be until Elsa woke up again.
"W-Who else thinks I'm dead?" she asked shakily.
"Everyone in the castle," he admitted quietly. "We kept it away from the rest of Arendelle because I knew you were eventually going to wake up. I didn't want anyone else to react the way your sister did."
"Anna," Elsa whispered. "H-How did she react?"
"The same way you would if you found out she died," Jack said quietly.
Elsa closed her eyes because she knows what that feels like, except on a whole other level. She has experienced the pain of grief and loss too many times; with her parents, with Anna, with her very own child...she knew that feeling very well, and she never, ever wanted anyone else to go through what she experienced.
"Then when can I see her?" she whispered.
Jack sighed deeply. "When I figure out a way to explain this to everyone. I wasn't allowed to tell anyone at all, including Anna and Kristoff."
Elsa didn't know what to feel. Jack felt like a stranger to her right now, and she didn't like it. She wish she could turn to him and fully look at him in the face, but she just couldn't.
"And our baby," she finally whispered. "He's already two months old."
Jack nodded. "Yeah, he is."
In a way, it hurt Elsa knowing that she had missed out on the first two months of her child's life, that the last time she even looked at her child was moments before her death. But she couldn't get angry at Jack for that because it wasn't his fault. It was just such a relief knowing that her baby, the premature child she gave birth to four months early, the baby that died in her stomach, is now okay.
"Elsa," he said.
She didn't answer.
"Look at me, please," Jack whispered.
Reluctant at first, Elsa slowly turned to him. Despite how shocked she is right now, no matter how angry she is at him, no matter how much disbelief she was drowning in, Elsa knew that she couldn't blame Jack. Like he said, he didn't have a choice. Yes, she is now stuck in time in this body for the rest of eternity, but Jack did it to save her. And even though Elsa wanted to rip him into pieces for putting not only her in this situation, but everyone who thought she had died, she knew that Jack did it because he loves her and their son.
She knows that Jack would never, ever hurt her. And though it still seems unreal, knowing that she has been dead for two months because of that vial that he gave her, it did save her baby. She could still remember the way her heart shattered when the doctor told her that the baby died in the womb. It still seems like a miracle that her baby came back to life, but it happened because Jack risked her life to save their child's.
Elsa looked at him in silence, seeing the pain and sorrow and guilt on his face. She wanted to hate him and scream at him for putting her through this hell, but she couldn't do it. It saved her life, and most importantly, it saved their baby's life.
"I-I'm sorry, Elsa," he whispered. "I shouldn't have done it. I didn't want you to live like me, stuck and frozen in time while the people around us age and die off. But the thought of losing you, especially since that has been my biggest fear since meeting you, was too unbearable to think about."
"Y-You can't reverse it, can you," she stated.
"No. It's a permanent thing. You're immortal now. Like me. Stuck in this...life," he sighed. "I'm sorry if this wasn't what you wanted. If I was able to change you back, then I would."
Elsa frowned. "Why would you ever say that?"
"Because this whole thing happened without you even knowing about it," said Jack.
"That's because you weren't allowed to tell me," she said softly.
"But look at you, Elsa," Jack fired. "I did this to you. You didn't have a choice whether you wanted to be immortal or not. And now look at what I've done. Because of me, because of my selfishness and fear of losing you, you're now stuck in time while the ones around you aren't."
Elsa immediately thought about Anna and Kristoff; they are the two closest people to her, next to Jack. And the thought of losing them while she stays young for the rest of her life absolutely pained her to her core. The next couple of decades will pass, and she will still look the same. Like Jack, who has been around for over 300 years. This is her life now, and even though the consequences were painful and brutal, Elsa knew that life wasn't fair and that sometimes, she has to make sacrifices for the ones who she loved the most.
"I know what you mean," she whispered. "But...But at least we don't have to worry about losing each other, Jack."
"That's not the point, Elsa," he said. "Anna and Kristoff are going to -"
"I know," she cut in, and sighed. "I know. I love Anna and Kristoff with all my heart too, but I do understand that in the next couple of years, it'll only be us."
"That's why I wanted to prevent you from becoming an immortal," Jack whispered. "I know how much your sister means to you. The pain isn't worth it, Elsa. All the deaths and grief, it isn't worth living forever."
"It's going to be hard, I know," she whispered. Her voice began to crack. "But...but at least I'll be with you. We'll get through it together, Jack."
He sighed before turning to look at her. She was crying again. "Do you hate me?"
Elsa closed her eyes. "I want to," she admitted. "But I could never hate you, Jack. Never."
Jack just nodded his head. He understands.
"How...how did you cope with me being...dead?" she asked him quietly.
Jack sighed deeply, but felt himself smile a little bit. "Our son," he replied.
Elsa looked at him. "Really?"
The Guardian nodded his head. "Yeah. Every time I looked at him, I saw you. It made every passing day a bit more bearable because it made me believe that you'll wake up soon."
"Where is he?" she asked him.
"The nursery," Jack said, cracking another small smile. "He's asleep right now."
Elsa felt her heart ache, wanting nothing more in the world than to see her baby boy. But unfortunately, she knew that she had something else to do first.
"I want to see him," Elsa said. "But...But I want to see Anna and Kristoff first. I want them to know that I'm alive."
Jack sighed deeply, wishing that things would be easier, but he nodded his head. "Stay right here," he whispered. "I'll get them. I can't let anybody else in the castle see you right now. It's too risky."
Elsa hesitated at first, but she nodded. "Okay."
Jack looked at her once last time; she looked so beautiful, alive and healthy, that it killed him for hurting someone he loves so much. Just when he was about to turn to go through the door, Elsa gently grabbed onto his sleeve and stopped him.
"Jack," she whispered.
He turned to her.
She sighed deeply. "I know that you're angry at yourself, but please don't be. Y-You didn't have a choice, and I understand that. You did save me and our baby."
Jack nodded as he forced a smile. He wanted to forgive himself, but he knew that he would carry this guilt for the rest of his never-ending life.
Elsa looked at him one last time. "I love you," she whispered.
Those words. He hasn't heard those words in two months, and hearing Elsa say it again just sent a wave of emotions through his cold body, as if for one second, he was human again. He smiled before walking back to her, cupping a hand under her chin before pressing his lips onto hers, kissing her, not ever wanting to let go.
"I love you too," he whispered against her lips.
Elsa blinked, letting tears roll down her face again. She looked up into Jack's eyes and saw the sincerity in those ice blue irises; the immense fear that had dominated her body was now gone. But she managed to smile before she whispered, "Anna and Kristoff."
Jack sighed and nodded before pulling back. "Right," he said.
After one last glance, he finally exited the cold, frosted hospital room before ascending up the royal flight of stairs. This won't be easy, but he had to do this. Anna, Kristoff and the rest of the kingdom had to find out sooner or later. He didn't want this to continue on any further. Elsa is alive again, and he needed to put this grief to a stop. Two months has been far too long.
He finally reached Anna and Kristoff's bedroom, where he quietly knocked upon the wooden door. Seconds later, Anna opened it. Jack looked behind her and noticed a huge stack of paper and documents behind her. Since Elsa's death, Anna has tried her very best to continue where Elsa left off, but it was clear that she was having a hard time with it.
She smiled. "Hi, Jack."
"Hey," he said.
Anna frowned when she heard the low tone in his voice. "Is something wrong?"
Jack closed his eyes for a few seconds. He opened them back up, only to see Anna staring at him worriedly. He gulped and said, "I-I need you and Kristoff to come downstairs with me. There's something I want to show you."
So how will Anna and Kristoff react when they see Elsa again? And how will Jack ever explain this to them? How about the baby? And PITCH BLACK?
