Chapter Twenty Five

"Mm, yes, right there," Asami moans.

I put more pressure into it and she melts under my ministration.

"Oh, spirits, that feels so damn good."

"So you've said multiple times now," I smirk.

She laughs and it sounds like sunshine, if sunshine made sounds. "You always give the best massages. I appreciate it, Korra."

"You're welcome, love. It's no problem. I know how hard you've been working on your new project and I can tell that you're stressed. That's why today, I'm going to take care of you. Now, where would you like to be rubbed next?" I ask, holding the massage oil up and raising my eyebrow.

She slips out of her socks and wiggles her toes.

I smile and bow animatedly. "Your wish is my command Miss Sato."

Asami's last project was a failure. It wasn't her fault. She allowed some of her most trusted employees to take the lead on a new set of brakes for Satomobiles that were going to be sold to the Republic City PD. Yet, a couple of the team members cut corners and failed to build the system correctly. The computers in the car were supposed to "speak" to the brakes so that the car's reaction time could be quicker than a human's if an accident was imminent. When it was tested, the driver was seriously injured in the crash because the system malfunctioned. Asami was forced to fire some of her employees for the error and may be facing a lawsuit as well. Because of that, she's been stressed and hesitant to hand over any work to just anyone. That has meant long nights at work and some nights where she hasn't come home at all. I've been trying to get her to slow down all week, but she hasn't been willing to. But, now, enough is enough. She's going to run herself into the ground.

"If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?" I ask as I squeeze her foot, putting pressure on her heel. She bites her lip in pleasure.

"Anywhere? Hmm. Let me think." She taps her fingers on her chest as she contemplates my question. I stare at her face, the smoothness, the softness of her features, as well as the weariness behind her eyes. So young with so much responsibility.

"I would want to be somewhere that's sunny, warm, quiet, with plenty of space to drive fast, and somewhere to watch the sun kiss the water. With you rubbing me down with massage oil of course. Oh and you'd have to be shirtless the whole time. I need to be able to see your abs."

"You don't even like them. Stop playing," I joke.

"It's one of my favorite parts of you. So, wherever I'm at, as long as I get to see those abs of yours, I'll be satisfied."

"Just looking and no touching?"

"Ha. Never. There has to be lots and lots of touching. Now, get back to massaging me, servant."

I chuckle as I work my way up to her calf muscles. She tilts her head back and sighs.

After her massage, I ran Asami a hot bubble bath with her favorite slow jams playing softly in the background. I had to decline her offer for me to join her so that I could start on her dinner. I made arctic hen, cabbage, seaweed noodles, berry smoothies, and cookies. Most of the prep was done earlier in the day, so it didn't take as long as it usually would. Asami stayed in the bath for over an hour. By the time she got out, the meal was nearly done.

"Korra, it smells wonderful," Asami breathes, entering the kitchen in a silky black robe, her hair still wet, but pulled back. I turn and smile at her, before finishing setting up the dishes.

"Let's just hope that it tastes as good as it smells."

"You always cook well, what are you talking about?" Asami pulls her robe tighter before sitting down. It's great to see that she's actually trying to relax. The stress has melted from her body and it makes me even happier.

"I just tried a new seasoning. Hopefully, I didn't use too much," I explain, washing my hands and then wiping them on a paper towel.

"I'm sure that I'll love it. You always are great at making new dishes. I always stick to the handful of things that I'm good at making."

"But, you make them perfectly, so I can't complain. Maybe we just need to spend more time in the kitchen together. We can invent some new dishes," I smile.

"Yeah, if we ever fail at our careers, we can start Korrasami catering. We'll have a special menu with unique dishes made by us." Asami looks at me and winks.

"You know, if you only wear that robe while you're cooking, I think we can use that as a selling point."

"If that's the case, you'd have to be just in a sports bra. We could say that all the ingredients were sliced on your abs."

"Asami, eww," I laugh, walking around the table to place a kiss on her cheek.

"What? Then each night I could take my time cleaning you all up."

"Really now? And how would you go about that?" I ask, liking where this conversation is headed.

"I'd have Naga lick all the food off of you before I hose you down in the back," Asami tells me with a serious face.

"You just completely ruined the moment, you know that."

"I couldn't help myself. You started to get that seductive look in your eye and I'm hungry. That will have to wait."

"Yes ma'am. And when it happens, just know that I plan to take really good care of you Miss Sato."

"You always do, love."

We smile at each other, a comfortable silence taking over as I fix our plates, setting one in front of the amazing woman that I get to love.

Ever since our interview aired, it seems that things have just been getting better. People love us. They stop us and want to shake our hands, they tell us how brave we are, they want to take pictures with us, and they want to share their own stories of coming out with us. It makes me appreciate Asami that much more. It makes me grateful that I came to my senses and apologized to her, that she was willing to give me a chance to make things right between us, and take her out.

If Naga had never found Asami, I don't know where I'd be. I owe that damn dog everything and she doesn't even know it.

We eat in silence, other than Asami occasionally moaning as she takes a bite out of something and giving me a thumbs up. I smile at her and watch her eat. It's times like this when her age really shows. I think sometimes she even forgets that she's less than thirty years old. If I can make her responsibilities that much lighter, I'll always try.

As if reading my mind, she says, "It's just you being here with me that makes me happy, Korra. Knowing that I get to come home to you, knowing that when I step through the door, you'll be smiling at me, knowing that you see me as Asami rather than the CEO of Future Industries means more to me than you'll ever know. I told you, I don't require much. I grew up getting everything that I wanted, but now, I have what I've always needed."

"And what's that?"

"You," she says simply. I think that I catch the shining of tears in her eyes, but she blinks them away.

"I love you Asami."

"I know. And I thank you for that. I love you too. I always will."

"Good. Because you're never getting rid of me."

"Is that a promise, Korra?" There's hopefulness and passion in her jade eyes and my heart skips a couple of beats.

"That is a promise that I firmly intend to keep. Nothing in this world or the next will ever keep me from you. I hope that you know that."

She stands up. "I do, now, my appetite's suddenly changed. I'm now craving a different type of water tribe cuisine."

I raise an eyebrow as she switches her hips and heads around the corner and up the stairs to our bedroom. Shaking my head and grinning, I run after her. I catch her before she heads to the stairs and lift her into my arms. She squeals in surprise. Trekking up the stairs with Asami safely in my embrace, she put her arms around my neck and places kisses on my cheek and shoulder.

"Go slow tonight, okay. I want to feel you as long as possible," Asami murmurs between kisses.

"Anything you say love. Anything you say."

We step into the bedroom and shed our clothes as well as any worries about tomorrow. Because, tomorrow doesn't matter. What matters are our bodies wrapped tightly around each other. I slip inside of my lover. She's hot, wet, and so ready. Her cries echo into the darkness and it's possibly the most beautiful sound that I've ever heard.

I awaken to an empty bed. It's barely dawn and as the sun begins to peek over the horizon, I sigh. Tomorrow may not have matter, but now tomorrow is today. I have things that cannot be avoided, no matter how bad I want to just lie in bed. I quickly dress in basketball shorts and a tank top, noting the delicious soreness of my muscles and the light burning from the scratches on my back. I shiver at the memory of Asami under me, chanting my name in praise before she arched her back in release, over and over until I was sure that she could not take anymore of what I was willing to give.

I head to the kitchen to grab a drink before I begin my morning workout. On the counter is a note and some fresh fruit. I take a bite of the fruit and unfold the note.

Korra,

Thank you so much for yesterday. I didn't realize just how much I needed the break. But you always know when I need to pull back.

I wish that I could have woken up in your arms. Spirits know how bad I crave that. But, I have a lot of work to do today if I want to make it to Bolin's fight on time.

Korra, you really are the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Have a great day. Finish up with Varrick and try not to let him drive you too crazy. I'll see you soon.

I place the note back down and smile. She'll be even more surprised when she gets the roses that I ordered for her.

Newly energized, I head to the gym and work out with a purpose. Today is going to be a good day.

Varrick slaps me on the back and twists his creepy mustache. "You are brilliant, do you know that? The action in this mover is going to be insane. Be ready for more fame than you've ever dreamed of kid, because after this, everyone will want you to be a part of the magic behind the scenes. You'll be swimming in money.

"I don't know about that," I chuckle, slipping out of his embrace.

"Nonsense! To choose to have the fighters actually bend elements and have each form of martial arts be a different bending style, it's more than I could have hoped for. You are the real deal, kid."

"Thank you Varrick, I really appreciate it," I say, but he's already moving on.

"That's a wrap folks, Zhu Li, come here, I need you to do the thing!"

Behind me, someone begins to slow clap. I turn around to see Bolin standing there, wide eyed and excited.

"Now, this is where I need to be. I should be a mover star."

"Why not? You sure are dramatic enough." I cross my arms and smile at my best friend.

"Hey! Not true, okay, very true, but still, you say it like it's a bad thing."

"Nah, it's who you are. We all love you for it. But, what are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to hang with you before tonight. You keep me calm and I need to relax my mind."

"Opal's busy isn't she?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Korra, you wound me. That's not why-,"

I continue to raise my eyebrow.

"Okay, but still. We haven't hung in so long. Come on," he whines.

"Fine. What do you have in mind?"

Spending the rest of the day with Bolin was an adventure. We went to the strip club, played lazer tag, walked around the park and ended up playing basketball with a group of kids. It was really fun. He seemed really happy and I hope that it helped him relax before his fight. Now, I'm getting dressed, slipping into my black jeans as Asami walks in and plops on the bed with a heavy sigh.

"Long day?" I ask, searching for my light blue, long sleeved Henley shirt.

"You have no idea, but, those beautiful roses made it all better."

I turn and Asami motions me over to her. I step between her legs and she pulls me down for a long, soft kiss.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"You should've heard the oohs and ahhhs that I got."

"Ah, they were just jealous."

She smiles. "Probably. After all, who else has such a hot and thoughtful girlfriend?"

"Nobody. I'm the only one in existence."

Asami laughs and kisses me again. "Damn right."

Hesitantly, I pull her up. "Come on. Let's get ready. I don't want to be late."

"Alright, alright," Asami concedes.

We dress quickly and head down to the front when there's a knock at the door. I peek out of the door window before I open it with a frown.

"Chief Beifong, is everything alright?" I ask. Asami comes to my side in question.

Lin Beifong is sporting her signature frown and is dressed in all black with a few bruises around her face. She looks around, but doesn't step inside. "You should come with me. I need you at the station, but the press is already there, so I'll be your escort."

"What- what's going on, what happened?" I ask fearfully.

"There was a break in your case. When we went to serve the warrant for the man we think shot you, he resisted. He shot two of my men before killing himself. We need you to try to id him."

My heart drops and I begin to sway, unsteadily. Asami grips me tighter and helps me remain upright.

"Korra, can you do that?" Lin asks quickly.

I nod, but don't say a word. Asami looks at me sympathetically.

"You can do this Korra, I'm right here with you," I hear her say.

I nod again.

Dead. Killed himself. After all this, he killed himself. I shake out of my stupor and run to the bathroom where I throw up repeatedly.

Notes: Yeah, so that happened. I'm sure you're all trying to guess who the shooter was. Well, soon you shall find out. Stay tuned.

As I said before, this fic is drawing to a close. I don't see more than five more chapters being written. I know that there are things that people have been commenting that they would like to see resolved, but I can't say that I will do that for everyone. For instance, there will be no more Kat. Sorry, you'll have to use your imagination of where her journey goes from her last conversation with Korra.

Korrasami catering- someone should totally write a fic about them running a catering business together. Imagine all the crazy parties they'd have to cook for. (Wishful thinking)

Anywho, I normally don't write until after work, so now I'm rushing, but it was worth it.

I love you guys, and I wanted to give this to you as soon as possible. You really make it fun to write.
